perfect place to chillout , heaven on a budget.
"This small hotel is only 2 star but deserves at least 4. my husband and I got home lastnight, and will be booking to go again soon. The pool area is great not too big and lovely and private,. Hotel right on the beach, fantastic view when having breakfast lunch or dinner, prices for meals very good, and the chef deserves a rise! Barney makes you feel so welcome, and is always so helpfull, as are all the staff. Liz and Ahmets boat trip is a must, we went twice ,book early it fills quickly as they only take 8 on each trip."

Nice and clean little hotel, just on the beach
"We booked in this hotel, after checking the similar hotels in Bitez area. Nice people, nice stay, very clean hotel. Just perfect for Bodrum, not far from the city center and not noisy. Only thing that i didn't like was the bearkfast, they could serve a nicer one and fresh tea or coffee in that price."

"Have just returned from a two week stay. I booked the hotel based on previous reviews and found them to be fairly accurate. It is a small family run hotel right on the beach. A very relaxed resort as everyone says prices are a lot higher than last year. We found many fantastic restaurents just off the main promenade. To mention a few: for lunch, Lavas good food and great staff especially Sherhan who took my son out for a spin on his moped.
Nar Chicki (or somthing similar means pomegranite) run by Mustafa. Best Sea bass all holiday and you can negotiate on the price of the wine! Pedesa - Great food and service one of the cheapest we ate at 84 lire for two starters and four main including a bottle of wine and soft drinks.
We had five teenagers with us and all I can say is avoid Gumbet like the plague!!!
There were nine of us travelling so we could not book the boat trip from the hotel however during one off our marathon walk in 100 degree heat, we found a boat named the Small World. We chartered it for two days, not overnight, costing 1000 lire. Ten people are allowed on board and I can honestly say it was the best two days I have ever spent on holiday. To book you have to go to the Small World Hotel or their website and talk to Suleymen.
Once again brillient holiday yes somethings could be better but hey most people can't resist moaning!!!!"

"Just back from a fortnight stay at the Toloman.First time to Bitez though we've stayed at other resorts. We booked mainly because of the reviews on this site and found the hotel very clean and our room was very spacious.Ideally situated just across from the beach. The sea is very stoney ,which has been mentioned but the sand is ok and plenty of sunbeds and no hardsell from the boys at the Toloman.....in fact it was difficult to get their attention at times. We were totally put off the beach by the number of stray/roaming very large dogs, and many times saw them relieving themselves on the sunbeds!Yuk!A couple of times there were dog skirmishes and it seemed to us that it wouldnt be too long before something happened.Right through Bitez there are dogs wandering, sleeping on the beach, scrounging for food and struggling to get enough water to drink. Not the dogs fault but we have never seen this in any other Turkish resort.Back to the Toloman.Barney now is the barman,no longer head waiter.Ahmed also works on the bar and is a smashing bloke. The new head waiter is Lucky, and we did not find him friendly or helpful. We were booked in for half board but only ate in the restaurant six evenings as the menu for half board was so limited. We felt ignored much of the time. There were many of the owners friends/family staying and the waiters ran around after them....not us!Neither the owner or his wife spoke to us at all in the whole of the two weeks,we were assured they spoke English. It is an expensive resort, drinks the same price or more than here, and meals out about the same as here.We had a lovely boat trip courtesy of Liz and Ahmet. On our last day a new face appeared among the staff,we were told he was the new manager.Maybe things will be better with him.Shame cos its a lovely hotel....."

Great Little Hotel
"Booked through First Choice and have to say was very happy with the service and the flights....we were somehow upgraded to their Premium Class which was a nice surprise....bit more legroom and free meals and headphones!
The Toloman is a small hotel right on the beach in Bitez. It is a quieter resort with none of the late and loud music to keep you awake which suited us perfectly. The hotel itself is very clean nd the rooms are admittedly fairly small but they have everything you need. You dont want to be in your room anyway....you're on holiday afterall! The restaurant is to the front of the hotel as is the bar (run extremely well by Barney) and there is a smallish sized pool at the rear of the property which was not used too often....the sea is lovely so why bother? The beach is fairly busy but there were always enough sunbeds to use. As mentioned in the previous review there beach is quite stony when you enter the water but the rest is sandy and swept clean each evening.
Eating out in Bitez is not as cheap as one might think, especially on the beachfront; prices are not that far short of UK. Most of the restaurants served the standard fare...ie British European and pasta and pizza. We found a great restaurant called Rakici run by a half Turkish-half English guy called Paul. Without doubt the best restaurant we ate in in Bitez. Food was Turkish and really well prepared and was about the least pricy we found....highly recommended!
If you want to go on any tours and you really should, Liz at the front of the hotel does the BEST boat trip...only 8 at a time. We also went to Dalyan for the day,,,turtles,rock-tombs and beautiful scenery, and also went overnight to Ephesus and Pamukkale/ Heirapolis. These are both must sees and we booked through Mahoni at indiana travel, a little way down the seafront...really nice chap and very helpful too.
Take a dolmus into Bodrum...only a pound and there is loads to see, St Peters Castle, markets, marina, Tomb of Mausoleus(one of the 7 Ancient Wonders) though is not a great deal to see now...they built the castle from its stones! Also all the 'genuine fake' sunglasses and leather stuff too.
Oh yes, avoid Gumbet unless you want 24hr noise!
We had a fantastic time in Bitez and would recommend this hotel. We will be back without doubt

Loved the beach front location!
"We stayed at the Toloman hotel for a week, it was to celebrate our engagement, we wanted somewhere that was relaxing and not to busy.
Well, we were very happy with most things, hotel right on the beach, very friendly staff, nice food, clean quaint rooms ,nice weather, the pool area was not very spacious but we were happy to spend most of our time on the beach, beware though, very stoney as you enter the sea, take some suitable footwear!
very pleasant to walk along outside hotel in the evenings, shops, eating places, we didnt venture far really but that suited us, did get a bit fed up of being hassled as we past the restaurants but most places abroad are simular from what I have experienced before.
There are a lot of stray dogs wondering around, apparently when owners get fed up with them or move away they just leave them!! this did upset me a bit and I did end up buying them sausages!! but they all look ed quite well and not under nourished and are very used to people.
Overall, we had a very nice time and are considering going back again one day.

Lovely little Hotel right on the beach, perfect for a relaxing holiday.
"I stayed at the Toloman during the first week of October, I decided to book this Hotel after seeing it on the Eclipse website (First Choice) and after reading the good reviews on this website decided to book a week for myself and my Mother as we were in need of a week away to recharge our batteries. We were not disappointed, the Hotel is in the perfect spot in the middle of Bitez, a small quiet resort but with everything you need, a good choice of shops, restaurants, tour agents, a cashpoint and very easy to travel to other parts of the Bodrum peninsula using the dolmus service which are cheap and pass by on the road behind the Hotel about every 5 minutes.
The Hotel is located right on the beach and has its own part of the beach with their own sunbeds and cushions which are free for the guests or anyone else who buys a drink from the bar! The Hotel maintenance man cleans all the sunbeds, cleans the beach and sweeps the sand every morning, it was always immaculate. There is also lots of giant scatter cushions and swinging hammocks to relax on, these are dotted around the top part of the beach. The beach has a blue flag, the sea is crystal clear but a bit pebbly as you get in so you will need some beach shoes!
Even though the Hotel is only a 2* it is of a better standard of some 4* Hotels Ive stayed in. It may only have basic furnishings but everywhere is kept spotless and the staff are all really friendly and will do anything to help you.
We chose the half board option when booking for about an extra £30 per week each and Im really glad we did because the price of eating out in Turkey is getting quite pricey now, I have noticed a big change even in the last 6 months so if booking this Hotel and you are on a budget its will be a lot cheaper to book half board as its great value and apart from the starters and desserts which is set you can choose your main course off the main menu and the food is lovely.
Overall we had the perfect holiday, Bitez is beautiful, the people friendly and they dont hassle you too much! It was even sunny every day which made it even better! I would love to go back to the Toloman again soon when in need of a quiet week away, I have 3 children aged between 8-14 but I wouldnt take them to this Hotel or Bitez as it is far too quiet for children and they would probably get bored as there is very little for older children. I would not hesitate to take younger children as there are lots of lovely little play areas dotted around on the beach (it puts England's play parks to shame) and the Toloman has a little pool for the little ones so it would be perfect for a family holiday if you have younger children.
If booking a boat trip, book it through Liz who has sits outside the Toloman, (she is English, her husband is Turkish) her husband has a little Gulet and only takes a max of 8 passengers, it is a lot nicer than going out on the larger boats and Liz's husband is lovely and loves to tell you all about his experiences out at sea!"

Extremely Good Holiday
"Just returned from a weeks holiday here. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel and particulary the location. Hotel only yards from the beach (very stoney, so sturdy swimming shoes recommended!) Plenty of restaurants literally on the doorstep, all very good. Sunbeds and parasols on the whole length of the beach, all free!!! Only downside - running the gauntlet every night trying to get past each restaurant without being harrassed by the over enthusiastic proprieters. Some could be far too pushy and became a real nuisance. Shame, otherwise it was a perfect break. Top To[..don't book any trips with your tour rep....priced in english pounds but if you pay with Turkish Lira their exchange rate is astronomical! Rip off! Most shops take any currency and even prefer Euros to their own Lira. Restaurant prices reasonable and priced in Lira thankfully! If your flight is with Onur Air, try and change it!! They were awful, both outbound and inbound!!"

Great little hotel
"This is a fantastic small hotel which is positioned right on the beach. Lovely clean rooms with en-suite, balcony, mini bar and tv. Staff are nice and friendly and it has a lovey little bar virtually on the beach. There is a great pool at the back of the property which my husband had to ourselves for most of our 2 week stay in June. The hotel is in a good position just a few minutes away from the main restaurants and bars. We will definately go back again - but having a break this year as we have been going to Bitez for 10 years now."
