11 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Was surprised by the hotel, shower gels etc and slippers included, don't order packed lunch or packed breakfast, does not include any drinks, basic packed lunch includes one slice bread, one plum, one slice ham, tomato and cheese, breakfast box included slice of bread, one plum and chocolate spread very poor for all inclusive, booked trips with Samon the prom, English girl very helpful. food a bit samey not covered quite a lot of flies, but altogether had a good time. Fresh meat cooked on BBQ daily, chicken, fish etc. birds chirping all day in trees by pool, very annoying, get down early to put towels down, staff have very little English, not very many English holiday makers, mostly polish. entertainment catered towards foreign guests, especially mini disco, not very good entertainment, two bed family room, means 1 bedroom with living area with sofa beds, we booked this as two bedrooms but only double checked two weeks before we went and had paid for two bed roomed apt, had to change to 2 twin rooms, not much of a queue for food but we went end of July. all in all had a good time, "

It's not just that into me (you?)
"I stayed here for a week during a workshop. just from the very beginning. Reception: quite friendly and helpful, English-speaking. Rooms service: really poor. The floor was always in its natural dusty state. The towels were taken away but they just 'forgot' to bring new ones. Bath cosmetics was never changed. Restaurant service: waiters are not annoying and generally helpful. Rooms: we were not lucky to stay in a standard room in blocks near the reception (numbers begin with 9..). Don't believe the images on the web-site that show you nice standard rooms. We got one with the door that we could close only with the help of the leg, with a very poor bathroom (max 1*) with an awful smell of sewerage, very old floor and old equipment. We had two rooms - in both the furniture was really old, the wardrobe didn't want to close, there were no hangers at all. In both rooms only one lamp - just forget about cozy atmosphere. the refrigerator is also very old. You are lucky if you get a second-floor room; first-floor rooms are often too dark. However, I saw the room of a colleague and it was just another world - quite of 3-4* rate (however, it was in other block and quite far from reception). Wi-fi (free) only at reception. Some guests said there were no hot water in their rooms for quite a long time. Territory: really beautiful with its many white buildings covered with flowers; plenty of flowers and trees. 7 min to the sea (the path is not always so picturesque), 15-20 min to a free beach (beach cafe owns the the nearest, you have to buy something in order to use it) . Three pools, not so big, central (with bar) is always overcrowded, beds are free, no beach towels. Meals: not a very big choice - especially during breakfast and lunch. vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, salads; main courses - omelet \ eggs (breakfast), potatoes, spaghetti (lunch) - meat in most cases you can get for dinner. Traditional Turkish sweets, fruits (oranges, apples). Location: small village of Bitez, 1euro and 30 min to Bodrum. Quiet place except for every-night dancing parties. Public: Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, Russia DEFINITELY NOT FOR: honeymooners"

good all round value.
"on arrival the reception staff were helpful and friendly with our bags being carried up to our room. the hotel itself is lovely. set in pretty gardens and looked clean and tidy. our room though maybe on the small side was clean and pleasant.my partner really liked the food but although a big choice on salads i thought there could have been more choice. tha restaurant staff were helpfull and eager to please though when we asked for butter they werent sure what we wanted.on the whole it was reasonable. the pools were well maintained and the maid service was good. when we needed extra towels for a trip to the beach they were happy to provide them. we really enjoyed our stay and it was lovely that the hotel grounds had many different seating areas dotted about the gardens so you could easily have a quiet moment away from others. the only thing that could have been improved ( apart from more choice of food!) was the bar area.in contrast to the rest of the hotel it was drab and not very inviting., though the bar staff were great. all in all we would definately recommend it and indeed would return ourselves."

Beautiful hotel - shame about the lack of cleaning
"We just got back from a week here. This is the best hotel we have ever stayed at in Turkey of the about 12 times we have been here - our 4th time in Bitez. We did the AI version. It was well kept and quiet. Everything was great except the cleaning. The was no cleaning! The first three days they did empty the toilet bucket, but the next 2 days they ignored our rooms and our neighbour's. When we complained on the second day, reception said that housekeeping was very busy and it would be fixed before 8 in the evening, but nothing happened until the next morning just before lunch. No clean sheets during the week! We did get clean towels twice but the second time we got too few towels for our family of 4. The pool was never cleaned either. In this way they let themselves down and spoilt what could have been a perfect stay. The food was excellent, authentic Turkish buffet, not a chip in sight! We were the only Danish family there but that did not bother us."

"I stayed at the hotel with my Husband, daughter and her husband. We arrived about 2am and we were offered a salad they had prepared for us, although we declind it, it was a nice gesture. Our rooms were lovely, overlooking one of the 2 pools. It was immaculate. The TV picture was great although there were only 2 english chanels but was welcome. The food was lovely, the breakfast very basic but lunch and evening meals were very enjoyable. The staff were pleasant esp the dining room staff, the service was excellent. The beach was only a short walk away and was like bodrum with lots of little shops and restaurants. We played pool most days. I have to say do not book any trps from the rep as we were completely done by them ie: we booked a turkish bath £20 each but on the beach we cold have got it for £8. We also booked Dream Girls tickets for a show which we had seen before, we were charged £35 each for this but again we could have got this for £23, the grounds were kept beautiful. I asked for an extra blanket and pillow and it was delivered within the hour. Overall we had a great holiday and would return to the hotel"

Great hotel - just the "drinking" water in the AI arrangement was not OK
"The hotel is clean, our room (suite) was modern and large with a balcony offering a view on one of the 2 swimming pools. It was always clean and the food was very good. The only thing is that the water included in the AI arrangement seemed to be tap water. It had a very bad taste, we did not drink it but bought bottle water instead in a small market nearby. Staff in the restaurant area was mostly friendly. However, the service/friendliness of the reception staff could be improved. The sound from the bar was a bit too loud sometimes, but our room was quite far away and very quiet. There are flowers and trees everywhere - really nice. The hotel is about 200 m from the beach. If you are ready to buy water in addition to the AI arrangement, I can recommend this hotel."

Lovely Experience - I'd go again.
"The room was nice, basic but who wants to stay in all day when its so nice out. Working TV with a couple of English chanels. Fridge, AC, big shower, comfy bed, large windows. Cleaned everyday, towels replaced etc. Hotel staff were lovely. All very helpful and always smiling even if they had been working all day. Majority of the staff spoke very good English. Virtually no steps, ideal for those who cant walk very far. Ramps, wheelchair accessible. You can get massages, turkish baths or even use the sauna on site (paid for seperately). Less than 5minutes walk to Bitez Beach. Shops and Restaurants just around the corner. You can get the bus into Bodrum just around the corner. Hotel staff are more than happy to call you a taxi if you want to go into Gumbet to the bars/clubs/restaurants/shops. If you get homesick, theres a McDonalds in Gumbet. Very relaxing, Lovely pool (especially when the Turkish heat gets too much). remember...you get a better deal if you take English money with you. but not everywhere takes it."

good happy holiday with family
"got moved here from art bodrum hotel as we were told the electricity was not working in our block but we think they had over booked as we were told we could move back if we wanted to.Anyway we decided to stay at garden life. There was a large party of us 14 in total as we had gone for a 60th birthday. Rooms were nice and clean towels changed everyday, bedding every other day. Only complaint about the room was it had a french balcony and theres nothing like sitting out late at night with a drink.we were all inclusive food was ok but samey.breakfast could have been better-a toaster would have helped. We ate out every night for our evening meal NOT that the food was rubbish we like to try different restaurants. The bar needs to overhaul their service it was diabolical.Afternoon snacks consisted of a burger and chips-the grand total of 5 chipson plate. If you didn't like burgers there was no other choice.Pool was nice plenty of beds but in high summer you would struggle to get one. The other pool near the garden suites was quieter but there wasn't many children anyway. Only go here if you want a quiet holiday as there is nothing to do in the hotel.Because there was 14 of us we made our own fun.for nightlife you need to go into Gumbet 10 to 15 lira in taxi."

Do not go there if you want to enjoy your stay in Bitez
"First the good part: Food was very good, beds were fine and the rooms were kept clean. Thatâs all. The bad part: Service in the lobby was lousy! When you come to the Bitez Garden Life a sign warns you not to bring beverages and food to the hotel. If you do that you have to be prepared to be âarrestedâ by the staff and your goods will be taken from you, as we experienced. When we asked if we could take our goods to our room, and promised not do this again the answer was a strict NO. We asked for the manager but were told that that he would not talk to us and informed that if we wanted to drink what we had bought outside the hotel, we had to leave the premises of the hotel â we could of course stand on the street and drink our beverages there! Please note that there is no shop on the premises of the hotel, all beverages will have to be bought at the bar for full price (double the price from a mini market). The rooms are so small that there is only space for the bed/s, no chair is in the room and there are only French balconies! Therefore you are forced to sit at the bar if you want to have a drink, may it be water or sit on the bed. Further each morning a member of the staff knocked on our door who announced âMinibar controlâ â which really was annoying â so we had the feeling that we were under survailance by the hotel. And we were not the only guests to experience this as we witnessed a few times. We have travelled to many countries and NEVER experienced such a behavior from hotel staff and manager. Also the A/C didnât work the first day. We were moved to another room, this time with one chair, and there the A/C didnât work for two days. No information was how to operate the A/C or the safe. Also there was no information in the room regarding information about the hotel, i.e. price for goods obtained from the minibar or the cost for room service. When ordering from the bar or the restaurant we didnât receive a copy of our order and on request were denied by the waiters. So if you want a relaxed holiday where you have the feeling to be welcome DONâT stay at the Bitez Garden Life."
