30 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"We have just returned to the UK after one week stay at Kamelya HV, we arrived and the room was large although it was 2 adults and 2 14yr old boys there was a travel cot in place of a put up bed. the rooms are a little dated and could do with refurb but were clean and the maid service was good. Rooms were clean and spacious and at the end of the day you only sleep and get ready in the rooms so acceptable. The complex is large and would recommend for children and also adults as there are 2 sister hotels in the complex called the Selin and Fulya which you can also use the facilities. the food is good and large selection and also having the drink stations on the beach is fantastic as you can fresh drinks and fruit. At lunch time you come of the beach and have lunch in a lovely bar Dragons Den which also has large selection and next to that is burger bar with fries and drinks. The beach is fantastic, clean large and well a beach in turkey with Sand and not pebbles. I have travelled to turkey for many years and this is the first resort that I have been with a real beach so this completed the holiday. The temp never fails in turkey and was very hot so being on a beach that you can go into the sea and swim was a pleasure. the staff are very helpful and friendly although English not the best but hey you are travelling to another country so what do you expect. The Complex is very large and has plenty to do also themes at night for entertainment is good and staff make it a pleasure. Try the open air disco and the foam party nights. The only downside I would state is that English were the minority in the complex and a lot od German people whom (small few) that are rude and would think that they have more rights than the English although this is not spoil or disappoint our holiday. The management I feel need to cater for the English as much as they do for German and Russians. The English started the holidays in Turkey way before the Germans started to go and Turkey should remember that when catering for the holiday people. Take a dolmus(bus) instead of taxi is far cheaper and shops are all with =in location and the main part of Side is close on the bus which cost 14 lira each way for 4 of us. Turkey are using Turkish lira and also Euro now used in turkey also use sterling as the English pound can be strong in turkey and good for haggling in shops. We would and will return to the Kamelya as it was fantastic and so relaxing. Again I will say to have the beach we had was fab and you can walk a lovely front and also view other hotels that sit on the beach edge. The only down side was we paid the hotel £70.00 for late check out as we did not get collected until 19:40 for return home and normal you vacate the room at miday 12:00 so we had all day and wanted the room to get ready and luggage. the last day was also good as we had all day and use of all facilities and the beach of course. Check with the tour operator about a late check out if you travel and not due to be collected until late on in the day it's worth it. Have a great time we did and will be back. make use of all the facilities , food and the drink it was great and not upset tummies. All the staff work hard and we would also like to thank them for the service they provided. the staff are clean and tidy and helpful, they work so hard and should be pleased with the service they provide as its the staff that make it. I would just like to stay that if you like the pool you need to be up early to get a sunbed if not no chance and the pools are lovely. "

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
"The Good: a nice green place around the hotel, quite clean and organized. Package called "ultra all inclusive" inluded nice food and some drinks. The Bad: Only one local type of beer (quite "light")included, only 2 types of wine (red and white) included, fruit juices are far from 100% (like 5-10 % fruit content), tea's are like brown water with sugar. Coffee is from machine which was ugly. The do have 100% fresh orange juice incuded in the package, it was announced. What was not announced is that it is a "do it yourself", means you stand into a queue and after 10-15 minutes you can do it yourself from oranges, cut it and make it yourself!! Food was good quality, good, no problem until you arrived late when some of it run out... The Ugly: money was stolen from our room! The safe went wrong and I did not get it repaired because my mother stayed in the room. While she moved to the balcony to help the cleaning, the money was stolen from the safe, either by the cleaning lady or by the minibar boy. The hotel was not willing to refund us, only offered a massage in return. They showed some level of understanding but finally said it was our mistake since the safe (their safe) was wrong and we did not report it immediately. So be careful here..."

best holiday ever
"The Jamieson Family Gives 10/10 for this holiday, we stayed in hotel selin for 2 wks in june-july in 2010, first impression WOW , we had a sea view room Fantastic, room was really nice ,clean an spacious, fridge topped up daily with beer, soft drinks,an water staff were very friendly and helpful even though most staff couldnt speak much english with smiles, laughter an plenty of hand signals we managed to understand each other the food was fantastic with plenty of variety for all nationalities, homemade pizza an turkish kebabs not to be missed, you really can eat all day, if you miss any main meal you can eat in poolbar buffet, drinks are unlimited an any bar in the complex can be used, lots of nationalities go there dutch, scottish, swedish, even spanish, a lot of russians but most are german , most are ok but a small minority of germans think they are better than us and are not very polite or wont queue up , after a few choice words they do start to listen. overall we enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again in june-july 2012, cant wait "

the place is huge looks very posh and very clean
"just came back from Kamelya village our room was large very clean and we were very happy with it. The resort it self very pleased with lots of German and Russian people there they do not have the manners we have, not to much of a problem but the complex does cater for them more than us. Out side the resort you have shops and a cash point to the left about 2 mins away, to the right and down the hill about 5mins away more shops to go to side town 15 mins in taxi 30 lira or 15 euro about 15 pound and taxi right outside the complex. if you turn left outside complex the Dolmus buses take you.The market in side is on Saturday you must haggle or you will pay far to much.we had one major set back we used the safe in our room free of charge and had money stolen they checked if someone had been in and they had was gutted never happened before in turkey and been loads of times but we always go to hisaronu. if you had that Kemelya world in Hisaronu it would be the perfect holiday. don't let the safe bit put you of as had fab time take a Turkish phrase book with you as very few staff speak English but we got by only heard of one other safe incident while we were there and they were also English. Book your free Alercart meal as soon as you get there or you will not get in the Chinese was lush. hope this is helpful probably will not go back only because my favorite is hisaronu. "

"I got back from kamelya world yesterday and would say... : rooms are basic compared to the rest of hotel : supposed to be all inclusive but you had to pay for ice cream : the staff working there were fantastic with the kids : beautifal weather, private beach and pools Overall I did enjoy the holiday in some ways but did not think we got value for money. Also the Thomas cook rep was awful and never turned up in 3 days! Also when we got off the plane to go to kamelya world the Thomas cook rep turned around and said "kamelya world have overbooked so we have moved you to a hotel for two nights. Therefore we got to the hotel and they had give us one bed between three people! And then to top it all off we finally got to Kemelya world and we had missed all trips out due to them messing up our booking! Got back to England yesterday and we were waiting for our car from "meet and greet", we rang and said we had waited for one hour then they turned around and said "we have lost your car keys". So do not use meet and greet."

"I have so far visited Kamelya World 3 times, (2003,04 and 05) and loved it more and more every single time i visited. Probably the best holiday i have ever been on. From what i've heard, it's been refurbished once again, so i can only imagine it has gotten even better! I found the animation team were outstanding. Admittedly, some did not speak fluent english, but the ones that did were very very friendly and welcoming. Even the ones that couldn't speak english would still greet you and get you involved. A few i remember specifically were Mehmet, Vulcan and Kirill. The shows are also exceptional; a lot of time and effort goes into them. The food, as can be said for most places abroad, was not top notch, but there was so much choice that you would never go hungry. I have to admit, "security" were very loose. Me and my friend (14 and 16 at the time) sauntered easily past the doorman at the "over 18's" nightclub, and trust me, neither of us could pass for 18. I would give this resort 6*, i think it's absolutely amazing. Although i have to say, it's a good job there's a lot going on in the complex, because it seemed dead to world outside of it O.o"

"This resort was beautiful. The service to your room was top class. Rooms were a bit basic considering the rest of the hotel was lovely. Food was out of this world and you really could eat all day long!!! The on site water park for the kids was probably the best feature for families and it is right on top of the beach which is exclusive. It is very German orientated so i suggest going in a large group and the evenings are boring as the entertainment is in German. There was no problem getting sun loungers as there was plenty available. I would go back again but with a larger group of English people. Hotel, Food and facilities were 5 star but the only problem was it was all German."

"ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC HOLIDAY!!!!! I wasn't quite sure what to expect after some of the negative reviews on various sites. However, I was delighted by the village and all of its facilities. The food was superb with a fantastic array of choices. You have to try the turkish pancakes cooked in the little hut beside the amusement arcade YUM YUM !!!!!!!!!!! I would recommend anyone visiting this complex to book the chinese restraunt as it is out of this world. There were 11 of us (5 adults + 6 children (ages 14, 13, 11, 9, 9 & 1)). All of the kids found loads to do and we were all devastated to leave. My only disappointment was on arriving home there seems to be no vacancies for 2009. I heard that this could be due to demolition of the older part of the holiday village. Staff were all very nice apart from grumpy bar man who served in the kamelya bar in the afternoons."

This is our 2nd visit to this complex. W...
"This is our 2nd visit to this complex. We stayed in the Hotel Fulya this time as it has just been refurbished and is in a central location. (Our Kamelya World stay was about 5 years ago) Since our last visit, much of the complex has been extended and improved. The Kamelya World accomodation has not yet been updated - we were told it was not very good and found it needing refurbishment when were stayed in them 5 years ago. However, the facilities in the complex would make up for this. The food, pools, facilities and activities are all excellent. The Kamelya rooms, resturant and pool are lively and tend to have more children staying there. The hotel Fulya has a cooler restaurant, with better quality furnishings and a more civilised atmosphere. You can use all bars, snack bars and facilites throuought the complex, but have to stick to your own restaurant for lunch and dinner. You really have to see the complex to believe how good it is - if you look up the hotels own website it will give you a better picture - however, some photos are old. There were filming new video and taking photos while we were there - so this may appear soon. Highlights include: Pools & waterslides, indoor pools, foam beach party, flat screen TVs in rooms and bars, quiet pool, Selin terrace cocktail bar, dragon beach bar. Dance shows - trained dancers mean if you like this sort of thing, the shows are generally better than the average ones you'll come across abroad. Also, a la carte restaurants - be quick to book these as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. I would recommend anyone to go to this hotel as the value for money is outstanding - you really can eat and drink virtually all day and all night. All staff in the hotel are very friendly and really appreciate the British manners and happy disposition. However, there are a few things you may like to consider - which if they are important to you, may affect your choices: 1. Kamelya world rooms not yet refurbished 2. There isn't anywhere near the hotel to "go for a walk". Shops in Colakli (5 min walk)are not glamorous. Shops in Kumquay are better (10 mins by dolmus) Side is about 30 mins away on the Dolmus and is excellent for Roman ruins, museum and shopping. 3. British people are very much in the minority in this hotel. It's mainly Russian guests, then German. Other nationalities, including British being the smallest contingents. English is sometimes used in day and night entertainment but not all staff speak English. Having said the above - we met British people who were impressed with the complex, most of who had been before, or would visit again."
