16 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
Not 5 Star Luxury
"We were so looking forward to this holiday and I had read the previous reviews prior to Booking, It was by far the most expensive holiday we had ever taken in Turkey and we have had lots of experience ( we have visited 46 times in 14 Years ) we always go 24 hour all inclusive and look for the deluxe 5 star aspect of a hotel, which this one bragged about on there web site. The first few days seemed good although i was disappointed that the " couples only " section of the main restaurant was not adhered to and there were normally more children in there than adults and the noise was unbearable to such an extent we did not go into any evening meals after our 6th day ( we were there 14days ) we made a roll at breakfast and kept it in the fridge till evening. The lobby area although impressive is a vast empty dome shape building and therefore every sound echo's through the whole hotel , we were on the 8th Floor and could here the noise from there. The supervisors walk around with Walki Talki's and have them on so loud that you cannot even hear yourself speak sometimes and that's in every bar, restaurant ,poolside etc etc there is NO escaping them . All inclusive advertised as local and imported drinks although the stocking levels are disgraceful,on one particular evening we resorted to bringing a bottle of Gordonâs Gin from our room , (which we had luckily bought on the way over duty free ) down to the bar because there was no " Imported Gin " in the hotel, there was also a distinct shortage of glasses for drinks and we found ourselves having to use the same glass for numerous drinks.
Staff ......... on first arrival they seemed quite friendly but alarm bells should have rang when i was told by a barman( Tamere ) that repeat guests are given priority which we were later to found to be true. We went down the bar one evening and there was a space at the bar and one stool free so my husband pulled up another stool and we sat down. The same Barman Tamere said we could not sit there as it was a service area ( and although we stated it was not cordoned off or marked in any way shape or form we moved ) 10 minutes later 4 German ( repeat ) guests came down and sat in the very same place but instead of putting one stool in the gap they put an extra 2. My hubby had a word with the barman and he just shrugged his shoulders so it was true Repeat Guests do take priority . The hotel also advertise the fact that the hotel is 95% full of German guests , they have a graph stating this in all public areas . Room..... we were allocated on the 8th floor and the last few days of our holiday we have thunderstorms and the rain came in through the roof onto the corridors outside our rooms , the hotel put up plastic sheets on sticks ( see pictures )which the water ran down into buckets it is obviously a regular occurrence as the sheets were well used so you would think they would get the roof fixed. Good Points the air con was very good, the cleaner was very good although the mirror in our room was filthy , the pool was really nice although we could not use the adult quiet pool as it was completely shaded until about 1pm and the water was therefore freezing cold "

"This was our first all inclusive and I had reservations. The hotel was clean the food excellent and the service great. The staff appreciated attempts at their language but overall a large portion spoke good enough english for all to get by. There was a good variety in the buffet and the al a carte was very good. They have a number of pools one being a relax pool where you can chill out (no aerobics and such). There were a few areas to sit and eat at lunch, these were dotted around the complex. The jetty and bar was good. On the down side there are alot of russians and germans who have retained the ability to rise before dawn and place towels on the prime spotted sunbeds. But you can always laugh at them walking on the beach and decking in high heels.
On various trips we heard reports from other hotel guests in the local, (titanic & concorde etc) it would appear that the service at the Delphin Palace was better than its rivals. All in all my reservations were ill founded and I would return. "

"We had read the reviews before the holiday so we went with high expectations. We were not disappointed! We arrived at the hotel at 11pm and were directed to the dining room where we expected the usual tea, coffee and cakes, but to our surprise there was a full hot buffet awaiting. The whole hotel is spotless, from the pool toilets to the rooms. In fact arriving back at Gatwick airport and using the loos there was a big let down after the Delphin!!! The food was good and varied, but don't go expecting a full english breakfast with bacon and pork sausages because they don't do it! Having said that, there was always plenty to choose from for even the most particular of people, and I'm one of them. The evening entertainment was not brilliant and there is very little to do outside the hotel in the evenings as most of the hotels are all inclusive. We were in a large family group so this did not affect us as much as it might a couple. Despite being a large group and the hotel being predominantly German and fully booked, we had no problem securing 12 sunbeds each day. If you want a day bed you need to get up early and reserve one.
This is a wonderful hotel which was apparently ranked in the top 100 best hotels in the world for 2007! If you want a relaxing holiday with every comfort and tip top service, then the Delphin Palace is a great choice."

"The Delphin Palace is a beautiful hotel, I couldn't fault it. The rooms were immaculate, everywhere was cleaned to a high standard. The food was excellent, catering for everyones taste - they even had a diet corner!! The staff were very polite and incredibly helpful, although most do not speak very good English as the hotels main clientele is German and Russian however there is always an english speaking receptionist on hand if any problems arise and the broken English most speak is adequate to get by. The entertainment good, lots to do for the children. The pool areas and gardens are well kept. All in all we had a fantastic stay at The Delphin Palace and would definately return. However, Lara Beach resort is occupied mainly by all inc hotels so there is little to do outside the hotels. BUt the transport links to antalya are good either by bus or taxi or, if you dare, hire a car. We did for two days and saw most of the Antalyan sights for a fraction of the price of the trips on offer. We travelled with Thomas Cook and our rep, Atif, was really helpful. Definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

"As soon as you arrive at this hotel you get the WOW factor. The reception area alone is magnificent with 5 glass lifts that are amazing to watch dont know why!!! Our booking in was quick and we were in our rooms within 15 mins of arrival at the hotel.
We immediately went down to have a walk round and have a couple of drinks and knew straight away that we had made a great choice of hotel.
On our first day we headed to the pool expecting not to get a sunbed as the hotel was full but to our surprise we got some altogether for our party of 6.
The service is excellent the staff always willing to help you and they were very friendly.
If you felt lazy you didnt even have to leave your sunbed for a drink as the drinks trolley came round most of the day with a variety of drinks both alcoholic and soft.
In the afternoon they came round with freshly peeled apples, carrots, cucumber and watermelon to keep you refreshed.
Food is always available. Firstly you have breakfast served till 10.30am. Around the pool they serve kebabs, hot dogs,chips,waffles,ice-cream this is in addition to all the food that is served in the beach cafe and main restaurant from 12.00 so no fear of going hungry even for the hardest to please.
The Animation Team work really hard to keep you entertained,a special Hello to Gabrielle and Ebo they were the best and really looked after us, we only went to a couple of shows as we went for a walk after our evening meal so we didnt feel guilty for all the food we had consumed all day, be prepared to add on the timber!!!
We spent most of our evenings(after our walk)sat in the outside reception area.
The rooms are spacious and really tastefully decorated to high standards. You get dressing gowns(not to keep) and slippers which you can keep.
If you are still hungry you can get room service between 12 and 6am serving tea/coffee,burgers,chips,club sandwich and more. We only used the service once just to say that we had had room service!!!!and cos we could!!!
Overall this is the best hotel we have stayed in at Turkey and we have been to Turkey 6 times previous 2 of those to Topkapi Palace also on Lara Beach which we thought would take some beating but Delphin Palace just tips the scales as being the best hotel by far hence we will be returning."

"Before we left for Antalya we read every review of the Delphin Palace and we hoped that it was amazing as everybody said it was. Lucky for us it was!
Quite simply brilliant! When we arrived our luggage was taking off of us from the porter, we were handed champagne while we were checking in. The first impressions of the lobby were stunning. A huge (i mean huge) chandelier hangs from the domed ceiling, five beautiful lifts (possibly the fastest lifts ever), and a long stretched bar.
If you are going as a couple or a group of adults i recommend you relax at the relax pool in the day, the other bigger pool is great its just where the animation team hang out and can be quite busy with kids, just a lot going on! If you have children then great because they have access to a waterpark and a fun park. If you do lounge about the relax bar you get wonderful 4 poster beds that are waterproof and you can relax on them, these are also scattered about the beautiful gardens with hammocks! The pool guy that brings the drinks round every 15-20 mins is very friendly, try out the vitamin bar. You get pure freshly squeezed juices and smoothies!
The food is non-stop. If nobody can find something they like then there is something wrong with you! Me loving food was in awe of everything. When you think you have seen it all inside you walk out to a middle section where they are grilling and cooking everything from whole fish to steak and meatballs, even whole chickens. If you wanted to you can also book into the a la carte restaurants, i recommend queing from 9:45a.m to guarantee a spot. The mexican was excellent and we also heard good reviews from all the others. If you like red wine then it is very good! not cheap and nasty, very smooth and tasty. Cocktails are everywhere from mohitos to margaritas but be aware ther are very strong! Room service is free and your mini bar is stocked up daily to the brim!
If you are lucky enough they have a gala night every 14 days! you have to experience it! truly amazing and one of the best nights i have had on a holiday. They celebrate it like its new year, excellent shows and a fireworks display.
The general manager flies in on his helicopter and we were lucky enough to meet him where he went round every table to see if we were ok and having a great time. The hotel is based on customer service and basically running a hotel/restaurant/bar how it should be. A delight to see and something they can be very proud of!
The only downside we had was our rep from Thomas Cook. To put it bluntly she was rubbish, probably her first season bless her but it did annoy us a little as we wanted to swim with dolphins but she didnt have a clue on the price, how long etc, just rubbish in general.
Everyone we met wants to go back, including ourselves. I just hope they keep up the standards all the time and keep the prices down!
For anyone going soon then you are in for possibly the best holiday ever and i am very jealous! Have a great time!"

"Just got back from a fantastic week at the Delphin Palace. We could not fault anything on our stay. The only problem was that we could not eat enough to try everything that we wanted to have on the menu!!! The whole place was kept impecably clean and tidy. The staff are all very friendly and keen to assist. This was a week of luxury where you dont even have to get off the sunbed to get drinks as they bring them round for you. There are so many pools that you can get involved with the pool games or if you prefer, lie by a quieter pool with less noise and splashing,There are plenty of sunbeds and hammocks around the pools and gorgeous gardens. There are lots of beautiful plants and trees around the gardens, many have labels to let you know what they are and where they are from. This will be an ideal holiday for families as there is lots of scope for teenagers to get off on their own but still be on site and plenty for younger children to do with the childrens pool slides and fairground . There is even free popcorn and candy floss in the evenings when the kids club is on in the ampitheatre. You dont need to take towels for the pool or beach as they are provided. We went for a turkish bath and massage which we thorougly enjoyed - we would suggest doing this on the first day as it relaxes you ready for what is a fantantic holiday. There is even a shopping centre about 200 yards away for the shopaholics! We will be returning to the Delphin Palace in the near future and hope to take the family next time as we know they will have a fantastic time."

"We stayed here for 2 weeks 29th April - 13th May. What can I say, this hotel is fantastic. Where to begin that is the question. We booked a junior suite (through Thomas Cook) these are the rooms at on the end of each floor on the hotel with the large balcony, we spent alot of time on this as there are sun loungers, table and umberalla provided. We over looked the hotel pools and grounds the view was amazing, we stayed in room 6100 (if you are booking a junior suite see if you can ask for this one). There was so much food to choose from all freshly cooked, nothing to wierd except for the sprout salad. If you have a sweet tooth you will love the desserts. There is lots of entertainment day and evening, the bar staff are friendly and the service is above what we expected with waiter service for drinks in the lobby and around the pools. The relax pool is fantastic if you want sun and peace and quiet. There are plenty of loungers around so there was no "towels on the loungers" at dawn. Dress code is no swim wear/sandals for dinner. A la Carte was good, plenty to choose from, you have to book this between 10am and 11am each day (however during the second week they started taking books 1 day in advance) we found by waiting until around 10.40 there was no queue to book and we always got a table (but there was only 2 of us). All of the staff are very friendly and helpful, ok their english is ok, but you could also learn a bit of turkish to make things easier. There is a free shuttle busy to Antalya each day, which you have to book the day before. There are building works near the hotel which do not cause any problems. There are 2 shopping centres in walking distance of the hotel with a variety of shops. Take Euros, as everything is priced this way. Before we went we had loads of questions regarding the above so I hope these have helped some people, if not email me with any questions you may have. Listening to the comments from people on the bus on the way back to the airport, this hotel is by far the best in Lara. We wil definately return here. Just a few other things, Thomas Cook mention about booking a late check out, this is not always possible and the hotel only deal with this on the day of your departure. We were able to keep our room for 45 euros up until 11pm, (this bus picked us up at 3.30 am the following morning)but there were alot of people unable to do this. The flight out with Thomas Cook was no briliant, however the flight back with First Choice was much better."

"Just got back from Delphin Palace de luxe Resort to-day. Couldn't wait to praise this hotel. Like many others , I to, have stayed at 1st class hotels & can honestly say it was Simply The Best!! The atrium has to be seen to be believed as are the glass lifts. Flowers & shrubs are all named & are immaculately looked after. The food ,both choice & quality , second to none
The staff were so helpful & couldn't do enough for you.
As one review from several months ago said " WOW"
What more can I say, can't wait to return

Wonderful Delphin Palace
My friend and I have just returned from this wonderful hotel and I cannot praise it enough. The hotel is out of this world. Upon arrival
our bags were whisked away and we were greeted with champagne cocktails and cold towels in the lobby. I defy anyone not to walk in and go "WOW". After checking in, our bags were bought up to our room.
The rooms are large, and spotlessly clean. Bed linen and towels are changed daily and the mini bar is restocked everyday with beer, fruit juice, soft drinks, water, nuts and chocolate.
Without fail, every member of staff went out of their way to make sure our stay with them was perfect, they couldn't do enough for you and are so friendly.
The hotel grounds are beautifully kept and again spotless. The swimming pools are large and crystal clear. There are plenty of sunlounger and sunshades to go round, so you dont have to get down at the crack of dawn to reserve one!!!!
The food in the hotel is amazing. I defy even the most fussy eater not be be able to find something they like. There are six al a carte restaurants and the buffet restaurant. The buffet restaurant has six live cooking stations with it, beautiful fish, steak, chicken, pork, lamb etc cooked fresh every night. Be prepared to put on weight!!!!! Fantastic salads if your trying to be good.
Desert counter to die for!! Great choice of drinks, red, white, rose wine with dinner or anything else you care to enjoy, just beware of the measures, they are HUGE!!!! Great choice of bars to spend the evening in, large choice of spirits and fantastic cocktails!
Children are well catered, loads of things to keep the amused all day. Live shows put on every night in the amphitheatre, the animation
team are fantastic. Good disco to dance the night away in. Bowling alley, video games, cinema, pool and snooker tables, check out your brochure to much to mention.
Amazing health and beauty spa, lots of pampering treatment. I can recommed the turkish bath which we booked through our travel rep (First Choice)and it was a lot cheaper that the hotel price. Just for reference the brochure says that there are no lifts, this is a misprint, there are in fact five.
My friend and I would go back tomorrow. Anyone who books this hotel is onto a complete winner! ENJOY!!"

The Good,The Bad and The Ugly
We have just got back from 2 weeks at the Delpin Palace. I read all the reviews before going and have read all the recent ones. All I can say is they are all accurate. Its a great hotel.
The good points are, fantastic service, great food, superbly maintained ect. Also there are several shops nearby including a very good chemist with reasonable prices.
The bad points are, lots and lots of small children ( this depends on you point of view obviously). The Thomas Cook experience was poor, cramped plane and very inexperienced rep. Thats about it actually.
The ugly point is . There is a lot of building work going on in the area of Lara Beach. At the moment it doesn't affect the Delphin Palace at all, but next door is a large unused plot which may one day be built on. Maybe worth a thought if you are thinking of going next year.
Tip. If you find it a struggle to make your luggage allowance try this. Leave all your shampoos, conditioners ect that weigh a lot until you are through security at the your UK airport and buy them in departures. Then you can put them in you hand luggage.
That's about it . You should have a really great holiday at this hotel. we are thinking of returning later in the year or spring next year. Not like us at all. Have a fab time. Best wishes to all we met there
Gary and Jackie"
