"We arrived at the Argos having originally booked the nearby Turkevi Otelleri, which we found to be closed upon arrival for refurbishment- other travellers please note. Med hotels had changed our booking without telling us until after arrival.
On the plus side the hotel was clean but our room was a little on the compact side neccessitating careful stowage of our luggage. Housekeeping was a little erratic both in cleaning and providing fresh bedding and towels but this is a budget hotel after all.
The hotel has a small pool in a sunken garden at the rear of the property but this area looks a little tired. Kaleici is the old part of Antalya and the hotel is towards the top end of the town and is much quieter than hotels nearer to the marina. It is a restored Ottoman house but appears to have been much used since the pictures that are used on their website.
Our room's electrical system tripped out whenever we plugged in our phone or camera for recharging and we soon learned how to reset the RCD. Fortunately, the air conditioning worked well as evening temperatures hit 32 degrees on our holiday.
Although we booked a half board stay we ate out after a couple of meals. Breakfasts were the usual simple med. fare but dinners caused endless amusement as they are run up the hill, on open trays, from a cheap local restaurant. The hotel does not have a kitchen of its own. Food quality was not good and meals were invariably cold before serving. Forget half board. The local bakery is only 50 yards away and produces cheap, excellent pastries. Kaleici has many good restaurants and you can eat out at reasonable cost.
The hotel staff are charming if a little ineffective. Only one spoke good English but it is easy to get by. Drinks at the hotel were not unreasonably priced compared to outside and service is charmingly haphazard.
Note that if you have a night departure and the hotel is fully booked you will be unable to have a shower before leaving. we ended up washing in a small sink and changed in the toilet for the flight home.
The location is charming but we discovered many pensions in the same area that would have been better places to stay at a cheaper price. Hindsight is always galling! However, we had a lovely holiday."
