"Stayed here June 2012. This hotel had been refurbished since our last visited (2009). Rooms were well appointed with nice modern decore. This hotel is well located in the town, handy for all areas. Lovely pool area at the hotel with great beach across the road. Service at this hotel was good and the staff were always more than helpful. Food was a bit bland but having to cater for many nationalities this was not surprising. There was always something to suit our taste. Only downside to this resort is the tendency for people to ride bicycles, scooters, mopeds and stand up motor trikes on the pavement. you have to have eyes in the back of your head at all times.....no reflection on the hotel but annoying and dangerous all the same."

Lovely holiday but........
"On arrival at the hotel we were told our room was not available and we were placed in another hotel across the road.We got our room the next day. The staff were really good and fun to be around. Food was okay if your not too fussy. Make sure to go on the red pirate boat for a trip. The pool was small but adequate. Lots of germans and dutch but we found them polite. Plenty of places to eat out. The coach trip could take up to 3 hours. On the whole a good base for a holiday in Alanya. We would use this hotel in the future. "

lovely hotel shame about the food
"Just got back from 2 weeks staying at the Grand Okan Hotel in Alanya. The Hotel has just been completly refurbished and everything is very clean and modern the rooms have a shower, hair dryer, flat screen tv, fridge, (that you can put your own drinks in, buy them in Ozzys shop across the road its a lot cheaper than the hotel prices which are in Euros)and fairly comfortable twin beds. We stayed half board (big mistake) food awfull, some nights better than others, plenty of salad but nothing to go with it, fill up on the fresh loaves of crusty bread its lovely. Hotel was full of Germans which I think they cater for more than the English. Alanya is a very busy and quite large resort, everything is priced in Euros and Lira,(Haggle really hard to get a good price, start really low you can allways go up, if they let you walk out you know its about as low as they are going to go) a good Fri Market in the center of town or you can get a bus opposite the Hotel to Mangavet where there is a MASSIVE market Tues and Thurs. Went on a trip down the Green River Canyon very beautifull but it gets a bit boring after a while. Hope this helps, this is only my opinon. "

"The hotel was fab, really clean and clearly run like clockwork. Nothing was too much trouble, all the staff wehre very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and although the decor was a little dated we had a TV, minibar fridge and free airconditioning. When I booked I requested a room on level 2 or above with a sea view and thats what we got. We were on the 3rd floor and slightly away from the pool so noise wasn't an issue. The food at the hotel was of high standard but fairly "same old" in terms of the variety. We went end of June and there were no issues with insects or anything. There was the noise of what I assume was crickets which could get quite loud but again this wasn't an issue. We had to check out by noon and didn't fly til very late that night. The hotel allowed us a room to shower and change in and there was a seperate room near reception for our luggage.
Rather than paying cash every five minutes for drinks or an ice cream the hotel operate their own "credit card" system which made things easier - just be careful as it's easy to spend loads and end up with a huge bill at the end of your stay!
The hotel is literally across a non-busy road from the beach and it's all flat, no big hills to walk up or down. It's also far enough away from the harbour to avoid any noise nuisance but close enough that you could walk it in around 20/25mins but the bus was the best way to get around. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel only 1 TL each down to the harbour where all the action is. Ask to get off at the post office or the next stop from there then work your way in and to the left - this will bring you to the harbour where all the restaurants and bars are. There's something for all the family here.
We were on honeymoon, I'm 36 and my lovely wife is 24 - we enjoy the beach, having a few drinks and a bit of the club scene as well as taking in the sights and eating out. All of this is well catered for in Alanya. The Turkish people serve your every requirement. I even bought a nice watch from one of the traders - when he saw my existing watches' face was cracked he even took that and replaced the glass it looks like new! The only small criticism is that Turkey isn't as cheap as it used to be. Drinks were pricey eg. a shot of sambuca was equiv £3.40, a JD & coke was around £9 (we assumed u got a double for that) and cocktails ranged from £6.50-£10 each although many places did a happy hour which was a BOGOF offer. It was dubious how much alcohol was in the drinks though!
We had a fabulous honeymoon - there were other couples here, families and in the resort one or two larger groups but not really at the hotel which was nice. The nightlife was good too with some excellent open air night clubs - Havanna was the best!
Burcu (pronounced buju) on reception was most helpful to us and speaks excellent English. She called us her "best couple" - Please say hi from pete & Sam if u see her!
We also had some nice photos taken by Fabio the hotel photographer - he was great but don't be hassled to pay too much for your photos!"

Beautiful Hotel, great location!
"Me and my best mate stayed here for a week in june and had a memorable time, and will definately come back to the same hotel next year.
1) HOTEL STAFF
The staff was very helpful and friendly, and any problems we did have they would always be there to help us. We made lots of friends here and can't wait to go back to see them all.
Perfect location, only 2 minutes to the beach. And approx 20 minutes stroll to the main part, the harbour, where the night light is amazing there!! Open air clubs, 3-4 storys high and great atmosphere. There are many beautiful places to see in Alanya which are all easy access from the hotel, we would recommend going to the castle, amazing amazing views of Alanya, Dalayman caves, 15 minutes stroll from the hotel, small inside but amazing... Magavaat is breathtaking, words cannot explain how beautiful this place is, like a mini niagra falls.. however you will have to book this via excursion as not local, approx 1-2 hours away.
Entertainment was 3-4 times a week, varied from fashion shows to a snake show.. and also the tradition turkish dance.
We stayed here Half Board and was pleasantly surprised, there was a hugh selection of food to try, varied each day and catered for all. The cakes was beautiful but be warned some can be very deceiving, but a very wide selection to choose from. Dinner was also very nice and we was never dissapointed with the choice we had to chose from.
5) GREEN PALM RESTAURANT
As guests in the Grand Okan hotel you would receive discounts in neighbouring restaurants, green palm restaurant is a must. We ate here several times for lunch and used to come here in the evening before going to the Harbour. The waiters Hassan and yousouf was very kind and always took care of us in here and was total gentleman. So as part of staying at the Grand Okan you also received discounts in the chain of this hotel.
The only negative we can say is that there is a lot of russans in the hotel and hardly any british, we did receive a few looks from them but some was very nice but it did not have any impact on our stay. We loved Alanya and this hotel and have started planning our holiday for next year! Can't wait.

"The hotel and staff were great. We were there for a week and had no complaints at all. The rooms were clean and had a lovely sea view. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was varied and good with something for everyone. Entertainment 3-4 times a week was good. The private beach just across the road from the hotel was nice and quiet with plenty of room although this is at a small extra cost. Overall it was great and we would definitely recommend it to anyone."

Fantastic Hotel- Fantastic Holiday!
"What a lovely hotel! My best friend and I just got back from a 7 night girlie holiday to Alanya staying in the Grand Okan. It really is a lovely hotel that exceeded our expectations completly.
The hotel is clean and tidy and the staff are excellent. We dont know why people are leaving bad reviews.
We were only B&B at the hotel but most evenings we ate in the hotel too the food was lovely, and pretty much the same as you found in other restauraunts nearby. We didnt have the evening buffet that was provided for the Half Board guests- but it looked different to what they had on the regular menu. There is a main restaurant - you can sit inside or outside near the pool or have room service. The bar is also fantastic - drinks are not cheap though and as we found out- it can be easy to rack up quite a bill as everything is charged to you room and not paid for at the time. Cocktails were from â¬8 to â¬10 each, but there is a happy hour everynight from 10pm-11pm when it is buy one get one free on all drinks! The pool bar is really fantastic- the staff are lovely and the bar in the pool became a favourite of ours!
The rooms are lovely- we paid extra to have a room with a balcony overlooking the beach which was really fanastic!Although the rooms that have a mountain view are equally amazing. Rooms are clean and had everything that we could have needed. It had a safe, minibar, aircon, satellite tv, hairdryer, balcony with table and chairs, table and chair in the room, desk, wardrobe, ensuite bathroom with a really good shower and 24 hour room service.
The location of the grand okan is really amazing, from the hotel pool area - it is about 1 minute walk to the beach! Ideal! The location in relation to the town is perfect- not too near but not too far. Easily in walking distance from the centre- about 20 mins if that ( based on a slow pace and a few stops at the shops on the way!) It is straight forward to get to the centre, the harbour where you can find the shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs- which are really great!
We stayed at grand okan mainly because of the reviews on this site and really i cant fault it! Despite what people say, alanya is very safe and we didnt have any problems at all. We really loved the hotel, location and people. Okan is run by an english manageress who is extremly helpful and friendly. All the staff in the hotel are lovely too- they even have a photographer who will take looads of photos of you and if you want to buy one you can- no pressure at all.
All in all we had loooads of fun at the grand okan and cant wait to go back. Fantastic value for money!
Dont hesitate to leave me a message if you have any questions about our trip."

Not a 4* Hotel - Disapointing
"This is NOT a 4* hotel.
After Reading the reviews on this site my husband and I were looking forward to our stay in Turkey. But after our experience I am wondering if the reviews are from genuine customers of the hotel.
Flight and transfers were all fine; the disappointment came once we checked in.
The hotel is tired and in need of a good lick of paint and some training for the staff to bring it up to an acceptable level to call its self a 4* hotel.
We had a room over looking the main road and it was so noisy we had to buy earplugs to sleep. The room was clean and the maids do a great job putting clean towels and fresh bed linen on most days. The main grievance was the food. The breakfast was fine with lots to choose from but we were extremely disappointed at dinner. The salads ok, very repetitive but edible with but the main dishes (approx 3 choices) were disgusting turkey, turkey and more turkey. . After a couple of days we couldnât stomach it anymore and ate out for 5 of the 7 nights we were there and that was fantastic, we ate proper Turkish food. I am not sure why the food had to be of such poor quality and lack of imagination as the beach bar/restaurant Green beach with is affiliated with the hotel was great, good quality food and friendly staff.
To some it all up go to the Okan but eat out. There are lots of places to eat and I donât mean the Tex-mex or buger kingâ¦â¦â¦."

"Have just returned from a wonderful week staying in this hotel and just wanted to thank the Hotel and it's staff for a fab time. Hotel was very clean throughout. Staff: really helpful and extremely friendly which really made the holiday. Location: ideal for anyone who prefers not to be right in the noise but it can be reached easily if you want to party! Half Board: the food was fine although we did eat out a few times as it was a bit samey each evening and we craved our full english brekkie a few mornings which many other restaurants offer (Dolly's along the beach road heading towards the Tennis courts) Swimming Pool: very clean and nice to sunbathe around (you will get discount for the beach sunbeds if you ask at reception). All in all a great holiday and our first time in Turkey, we will definately return.

"Newly retired but reasonably young at heart - we had never been to Turkey before - what a fabulous experience. No more Canary Islands for us! Grand Okan Hotel is relatively old and has been refurbished, but the cleanliness, facilities and services more than made up for any minor shortfalls. Towels changed every day, bedding every two days and during our stay new ortho beds! The Manageress, Amanda, her husband, receptionist Burko (sorry if spelling is wrong!) were so friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We get cross to read reviews regarding dislike of food - if you go to Turkey surely you should expect Turkish food ? We stayed for 3 weeks and during our stay never had a meal we did not like. Cleopatra beach lived up to its reputation as did the Harbour and Castle. We loved the calm oasis of the parks and the overall cleanliness of Analya especially the restaurants/bars and their loos. The absence of time share, sunglass, and watch sellers was appreciated. Friendly genuine people, excellent value for money - we'll be back."

fantastic spring holiday.........
"Arrived in the middle of the night. A friendly face greeted us at reception and we were promtly offered something to eat before being shown to our wonderful room with a view to the sea... During our stay, the breakfast was very varied and evening dinner was always plentiful, varied and warm. Lots of Turkish dishes, but this suited us as we came to Turkey for this. The staff speak English and German and some a little Dutch.
We used the internet in the lobby and had no problems. Not much entertainment but everything is very near the hotel so we were out nearly every night. The weather was fantastic while we were there and as the hotel is only 50 mtrs from the beautiful Cleopatra beach, we were there for a great sun tan every day. Highly recommended for all ages."
