"Oasis Park Hotel Salou.
Just returned, after two weeks, of fantastic weather.

We went to the Oasis Park Hotel last year, and we had such a fantastic time, that we thought it would be perfect to take my husbands elderly parents to, as they have never been abroad before, we thought this was perfect for the first timer...
How very wrong we were...

This hotel is perfect for a family, that is, if you don't mind lots of other kids. as this hotel now seems to cater for school trips, as there were coachloads of children from France, Spain, china? each group was about 30 in total, and there were about 4 teachers overseeing each group, needless to say they had little control over them, they manipulated the lifts, you just could'nt get one, on one occasion my mother who is well into her 70s, waited 30 minutes for a lift, as we were on the fourth floor she could,nt climb 4 floors, so she had no choice, I am asthmatic, and found it very distressing on the times i was forced to use the stairs, that,or wait a long time. these children were at times only going up ONE floor, are children becoming that lazy.and at night they made so much noise, you could hear it all over the hotel.

The rooms were O.K. the cleaner had so much to do, that on two occasions we were not given any towels, it took an hour for any to arrive, on the second time, my husband went to reception to get them himself, rather than wait an hour, while i made the beds, as this day the room had not been touched. in the two weeks we stayed, our room was not polished or swept, when we left there was a good layer of dust.

The Pools, of which there are four, were always full of children, I know, Holidays are for kids, But, we would like to swim too, the brochure said that there is an adult pool as well as a childrens pool,,The children were in all the pools, with lilo's inflatables, and balls, the children would run with a lilo and dive into the pool, and land on top, how there was not a serious accident heaven knows, as they landed on top of people without a care. one day there were some british children in the pool, that had steps down into the water, I asked them if they would mind letting us oldies have an hour, as mother has'nt swam in years, and she is a bit nervous, and would feel more confident, without the worry of diving children, Bless them, they got out and told the other children that the old people wanted to swim for an hour, so use the other pools, cos there IS three others, That was the most relaxing hour we had.
The following day my husband was in the said pool, he was wearing goggles, looking at the pool floor, to his horror, there was human POO on the bottom near the steps, i went and informed the lady lifeguard, she came ,looked, and in broken english said "I will sort". we told the parents and children what we had seen, and they all stayed out of the pool, for all of....15 minutes, gradually they all went back into the pool, Disgusting, About 4 hours later, a maid armed with a fishing net, came to find the POO, as you can imagine, after four hours of kids, it was nowhere to be found.
The following morning the pool was cleaned with a vacume, and as it was very cloudy, we assume they must have put extra cleaner in it. We did'nt go in the pool again.

The entertainment was not for adults, Mini Disco, twice a day, ok if you understood half the music, as it catered for spanish or small children, who wanted to follow the actions of the entertainment girl, usual stuff "music man etc". Any adult entertainment was marred by the children running across the stage, during the acts, it became a farce. We went over the road to The Scottish Bar. "The Double Scotch". they gave us a true welcome. even though we only had a couple.

Now for the positive.
The food was excellent, A great variety, lots to choose from, even for the fussy eater, on a Friday, they have a special display, with king prawns, mussels, fresh salmon, steaks, in fact a most appetising meal, And. each lady is presented with a long stemmed single red rose.
The hotel is perfectly situated for the beach, which is 5 minutes walk, Buses drop off and pick up outside the hotel, perfect for Port Aventura,( you can buy admission tickets at the hotel reception) and for a visit to Barcelona, talk to the PLANA girl, who is always outside the hotel. (plana is the name of the bus company.) And she speaks most languages.she will advise you, on what, when, where and how much.

Needless to say, we will not be going back to Oasis Park. However we shall be returning to Salou, as this is a fantastic resort, for old, young and infirm."

"Me and my 2 mates travelled to Salou for a little weekend break - Females aged between 24-26 and we stayed in the Oasis Park Hotel. First of all we got the offer on RoomsNet.com and got it from the Thursday to the Monday and it cost €97 each for 4 nights which included breakfast and dinner - now I was a bit worried and thought this offer may have been too good to be through - but it was perfect - its exactly what we wanted - A room to lay our heads after a night out and a shower. The hotel was nice and clean and the staff seemed fine - as in helpful. The pool was nice and if I was to mention a problem - the only two things that bothered us was first of all the lifts - they are tiny lifts and only 3 of them, so when its busy in the morning and evenings - we seemed to be waiting for ages for a lift, second of all - the walls seperating the rooms - far too thin - we could hear people talking as if they were in our room. But for the price we paid each - you cant complain and we felt safe.

If there was anything to recommend - Go to Portaventura - its a trip well worth the expense - its FANTASTIC - it cost roughly €39 each for a ticket - but get the express ticket on top of that, its an extra €20 - but saves you queing for 45minutes to an hour - we didnt get it and if we were to go back it would be the first place and first type of ticket I would be gettting.

Also, just to note - the beach does be majorily packed - so if you are a beach lover rather than a pool person - get down early and be warned, people will practically be walking over you...."

"21 of us aged 24-60 stayed here at the oasis park all inclusive. the bar staff were very rude and we were ignored or made to wait before being served. my room was ok a little grubby. night time entertainmet was appauling no english music was played it was catered all for the spanish instead of perhaps taking tries and turnes to please everyone. the spanish/german guests were also rude bumping into us on purpose all the time. the toilets near reception was disgusting they stunk of urine and guests were wipng there bums and throwing the toilet paper on the floor SICK it was like sharing with animals. food was horrible was mainly stinking fish and what was left at dinner was put back out at tea. i survived my stay on chip balms (breakfast dinner and tea that seemed safer). the chefs looked like a good wash would kill them!! i hated my stay and could not wait to get home. I WOULD NOT RETURN FOR A MILLION POUND AND I MEAN IT!!! anyone thinking of staying here dont waste your money. also beware of the tabacconist 3 of us were ripped off either exchanging money or buying cigerettes."

"Well were do i start, What a load of S*** , We stayed there for 7 days and i could not wait to come home, The staff were so rude and unhelpful, We stayed there A I and it was just rubbish, We had to get the children out the pool every time we wanted a drink because they would only let us get 1 drink at a time, and at night we could not be served by the waiter because we was not paying, {I think they forgot we had already paid} so we had to line up for about 15 mins to get a drink because they would serve the people that were paying first, The food was ok, rooms wre clean but walls paper thin, i would say stay well away!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"We're just back fom a week at the Oasis Park and certainly won't be rushing back. We had booked a late break , originally at the adjacent San Diego but there was a problem there - thank goodness. When we were dropped of at San Diego we were "dismayed" by the awfulness of it and the lucky ones on the coach who weren't being dumped here just looked at us with pity and blessed their foresight in not selecting it. Due to a plumbing problem we were thankfully immediately moved to the Oasis Park. It looked better from the outside but inside it was tired, dated and in desperate need of refurbishment.

Reception very efficient and the room was clean, except the floor, but.... like many of the previous reviewers we were overlooking the pool on a lower floor and the noise at all times of the day and night from the pool, bar and other rooms (thanks especially to the stilletto heeled flamenco dancer upstairs) as well as groups of youths running through the corridors was horrendous. The front of the hotel wouldn't be a better option as it overlooks the main drag bars, boy racers and buses provding the soundtrack. No peaceful, relaxing end of season break to be had here.

Food was very average except the Saturday night buffet which was excellent in presentation / content and quality. I don't know why, maybe there were gaffers or inspectors in that night. The restaurant suffered from a complete lack of organisation which led to queues for everything although the hotel wasn't especially busy and the noise again was a real problem. Why don't they have a Maitre D'?

As for the evening entertainment - OH MY .......!!! Just accept that you probably won't want to stay in the hotel in the evening and venture out into the wilds of Salou. If you go as far as the other end of the prom into "old" Salou you might actually find a bar with a Spanish person in it - alternatively knock yourself out with karaoke, housey housey and live football in any of the hundreds of British run bars.

Nearby beaches are excellent and certainly a better option than the horrible small, square pools at the hotel.

It is true - you get what you pay for.

If you're going to Barcelona - take the train. 11 Euros return for an adult (it's 17.80 E on the bus) and 7 for a child into the heart of Barcelona (get off at the Passei de Grazie NOT Sants as it's out in the sticks). 80 mins each way. We'll definitely be going back there!!

Don't be fooled into buying 3 or 7 day passes for Portaventura - It's not Disney and even the keenest of you would struggle to fill 2 days there - we managed an afternoon.

Oasis Park wasn't for us but if you're going, remember your football shirt and your fags."

"just returned from 8 days at the oasis park hotel in salou, and would thoroughly recommend it. My husband and i travelled with our two kids age 2 and 3 and they had a ball. The rooms were decent sized with two kingsize beds, we asked in advance not to have a room facing the front of the hotel as we heard it would be noisy at night, our room faced the side of the hotel and was fine, although i suppose in the height of summer it may be noisier. The room was cleaned and fresh towels daily, sheets changed every two days, maids friendly (my son smashed a glass one evening and in the morning i had to try to tell the maid that i attempted to clean the glass up but she would need to double check i didnt miss any - she said ' no problem' and did so).
We found the food lovely, good, varied choices and piping hot, also a chef grilling steak, burgers, fish, hotdogs and in the morning cooking fresh omelettes and pancakes.
Bar staff seemed friendly enough, and reception staff helpful. We would definitely go back, and would recommend it.
The resort of Salou itself was fab, with plenty to do for families like ourselves.
We found a lovely cove - come out of hotel turn left and left again straight up hill and down other side, it was great for the kids to play on and has lifeguards and is very safe, also on way down to beach you pass a bakery which has the most delicious filled baguettes and donuts (cheaper than cafe on beach!)
Champions bar opposite hotel has a clown on twice a week Thursday and Sunday who entertains the kids for a couple of hours... not to be missed, the 'Rovers Return' pub is also a good night out and Lenny and staff cater for the children, with games, and magic shows etc
Take a round trip on the little train which stops opposite the hotel, it cost 5 euros for us all and lasted about an hour, busses to Barcelona, Pineda and Callela also stop there.
Spent a day at Port Aventura, lots for the little kids to do, but when we went it was over run with spanish people and queing for food and snacks was a nightmare and i just seemed to be ignored as i didnt speak the lingo. But still the same a good day out.
All in all good holiday and would return again."

"Stayed here for a week with my daughter (17)and had a great time. When we first arrived at the hotel we thought the receptionist could of managed a smile but I suppose she was busy. We were pleasently surprised when we got to our room and found we had a double bed each!!. The rooms were very clean and fresh and the maids came daily and were very friendly. Pools were lovely and clean and we found there to be plenty of sun-beds although by mid-afternoon it was very busy. We went half-board and found the evening buffet of high standard. Lots of choice, salads, pasta, fish etc and the best part was the puddings, fantastic choices of creamy cakes, fruit and ice-cream!!
I can't comment on the breakfast as we never made it.!!!!!
All the staff were friendly even if they couldn't talk much English. The only problem with this hotel is the evening entertainment which was awful. It was aimed at the germans, french, but the hotel is right central to Salou and there is so much to do that you don't want to stay at the hotel all day. If you like pub games and lots of banter then The Red Lion pub is a few doors down, we had a few good nights here!!, also 007's which is right down the bottom is A1 for games, entertainment and music right up until 3am.
All in all we had a lovely stay at this hotel and resort and would definately return."

Way too noisy

"When we were in the taxi getting nearer our hotel we were commenting on the nice area but when the taxi driver pulled up to the hotel we were dissapointed at the atomosphere; Which was really busy streets. Though the hotel itself was average. The food was a little repetitive and had things that you wouldn't put together in one meal. Though it was all cooked properly. Breakfast food gets very boring if you don't like a greasy fry up everyday. But there was also pancakes, fruit, and breads to choose from. Lunch was ok. And dinner was ok. Though I think you can tell not everything is freshly prepared, and the was once Lamb chops one night and it looked as though the next night they had used the same lamb leftover and minced it up. As this hotel has 390 rooms with all rooms full up, there isn't enough space sometimes in the dining area and the pools. I was pleased to see the whole of the hotel was non-smoking, as I didn't know before coming. Though it was unpleasant to sit by the pool as people are allowed to smoke all over you there. Pools were too small and not that clean. Rooms were clean enough, execpt the floor, which I had to keep washing my feet before I got into bed. Also, the rooms are a good size for 2 people, so don't try to fit anymore in. The receptions were very good and spoke lots of different languages. I couldn't beileve the size of the gym and sauna which were tiny with hardly any equipment which they still wanted to charge 5 euros each for. Enternmaint was good but very loud. The best thing about this place is it's location, as the bus stop is across the road and is near lots of nice, interesting places such as Cambrils, Reus, Tarragona, La Pineda, and Barcelona is only 1h15mins bus drive away. So I would only recommend this hotel is your going for a v.cheap getaway, as it is not relaxing in the slightest."

"We've just returned from a week at the Hotel Oasis Park and we had the most fantastic time. The hotel is situated right in the heart of Salou and everything is so close on hand. Bus stop to Barca etc right out side the door. The hotel is lovely and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I have two boys aged 6yrs and 14yrs and they had a lovely time. Couldnt fault the food what so ever. The entertainment is a bit weak which is my only quibble but there is so much going on outside of the hotel that this really isnt important One tip i will give is that the poolside and bar shut at midnight prompt so be prepared!.I recommend the Red Lion pub (bout 8 doors down the road) if you like pub and music quizzes and a bit of banter. Looking at flights to go back already!!"

Hotel is too large

Average

"I stayed at this hotel halfboard for 2 weeks. We have two boys who were then 3 and 7. We also stayed for the first few days in Barcelona at the Hotel Colon which was very, very nice. This however meant that we could not print our return tickets (RyanAir) until we got to Spain. The customer computers were not linked to printers and the staff in the hotel were not very helpful as they would not accomodate us on this matter even when we said we would pay to do so. Luckily my wifes mother was coming out the last week who brought our return boarding passes with her.

Location:
this hotel is on one of the main streets whihc if you are unlucky and you room is facing this street will be very noisey. The hotel is approximately 10min walk to the closest beach. 15-25min walk to the fountain at the main beach.

Food:
It is buffet style, which may not suit some. We found at the time when we satyed there the food quality was poor, possibly suffering because the hotel was so much bigger than other hotels, it appeared to be more about quantity rather than quality. This may have since changed. That said, we always got something to eat but not feeling satisfied or happy with the experience.

Rooms:
Typical of what you will get in any resort in Spain, if it clean and tidy count yourself lucky, which it was. Be sure not to be placed on the main street, it is very noisey. Also do not book a single room (they are tiny), my mother in-law did and was also very unlucky to be placed in the front, so got no sleep for the first two nights until she got moved.

Pool:
There are 4 pools with loads of space which is great, which can be busy. Also some pools will be out of your view, so if you are a nervous parent you will not be able to relax as your child can easily get out of view.

Entertainment:
Night time here is typical of all resort hotels in Spain, mainly cringe but somewhat enjoyable nonetheless especially when the kids enjoy it. "
