Good Hotel Spoilt by resteraunt
"This is a good hotel spoilt by the resteraunt experience. We had a sea view room on the 6th floor, which was great. The beach is 100 yards away. Railway Station 5 minutes walk. 1 hour 40 mins to Barcelona.Staff very helpful. Pool area good and safe for children. Hotel in the quiet area of Salou, 10 -15 mins walk along the front to the hustle and bustle. Now for the bad bit, the resteraunt. Breakfast at certain times is like a cattle market, you have to queue for the coffee/tea machine sometimes 10 people waiting. You have a choice of scrambled eggs, and some type of bacon most dys, the rest is of a continental theme, pastries and cheese etc. This does not vary. The constant banging of plates by the waitresses as they clean the tables is a nightmare, and its the same at evening meal. It is more like a cafe. If you are looking for a nice quiet meal at night this is definately not the hotel for you. The 1st night we had a fish theme, which was really good, prawns, salmon etc, if you didnt like fish not much you could do. Next night appeared to be an american night, Burgers and Sausage in buns ! An Italian night followed with Pizza, and then a Mexican night which I could not really describe. There are two tables with ham and cheese, and pastries on, one table where the chef prepares the fresh food, and one table with the chips and potatoes on. Then one table with the sweets. Not much variety on the night, noisy, not a good experience. Definately not a four star because of this resteraunt. A shame because the hotel itself and staff are OK. Not for couples, more young children, or go B and B and eat out. One final point if you have a room with a pool view you will be looking out over a block of flats which are falling to bits, and cover one side at the rear. "

Blaumar Hotel Salou
"16/04/08 Arrived Reus Airport to travel to Salou used the excellent Plana bus ⬠9-50c return .airport/hotel/airport, Stayed in Blaumar hotel for 7 nights. The location of this hotel is excellent 50 m from beach with a pedestrian crossing directly out side.there is no need to use official tours as the buses in both directions to Tarragona Reus Cambrills Markets stop withih 50m of hotel. If you feel more adventurist the train station is a 6 min walk away Fare return to Barcellona â¬10.get off at next station after Barca Sants you are i street away from LAS ramblas. The Hotel food was of a very high and acceptable standard.the rooms were adequate but need a coat of paint .Problem with clothes closet was fixed instantly.Staff very cheerful and helpful.Nightly entertainment ! which started at 22/30 was too late for toddlers and was Butlin like with same faces doing theme nights in Spanish/German/French;Show is on for 1 hour finishing promptly.Drink on pricey side compared to bars .Bar closes 12pm sharp no exceptions ; entertainment rating 3. Salou;its 6 years since my last visit still beautiful very clean and visitor friendly but the little Spanish shops were you could spend a few hours browsing have been taken over by Asian Traders as soon as you foot crosses their door way its what size are you you like Man U i make good price beware their team shirts are not official .The Liverpool Shirt has an orange tint to it .and remember the Spanish SIZES ARE ALL ON THE SMALL Size. I know these people have to make a living but the character has left the markets.Last thing on Hotel i looked at Travel Companies Reps Charts on display in hotel they were all German.French .Polish. Italian no British or Irish Companies seem to use this Hotel forgot to mention i was an Independent traveller who used Ryan air from Dublin"

"We stayed in the Blau Mar Hotel at the OCT school week & I really couldn't fault it at all. Rooms were spotelss, staff (cleaning, reception, restaurant) all staff were more than helpful & quite friendly. Drinks were slightly expensive in comparison to elsewhere, but you are also paying for the surroundings. so cant complain too much. We booked in half board as this the only option available with our tour operator which I would not normally do. The 5 of us had no complaints whatsoever with the service. There was a variety of foods to choose from & it certainly catered for all tastes, but leaned towards the Spanish/Catalan style. The children's & evening entertainment was ok (the kids liked it!) & the swimming pools were big, but very, very cold! Just across the road from the beach, and not far from Portaventura (why we were there) but far enough out of the bizz to be peaceful. Only a hop, skip & a jump from the airport at Reus also, which is a bonus."

"Stayed at the Balumar during October half term week. Thought it was an absolutely excellent hotel. The standards of cleanliness were second to none. Our room was spotless, the communal toilets were spotless the bar area was spotless, what more can I say. Staff were friendly and helpful, all spoke English. Food was very plentiful and of a very good standard. The fish night was superb. Due to the lateness of the season the pool was freezing and hardly used, but even if only one person was about there was always a lifeguard on poolside. If I ever went back to Salou I would definitely stay at the Blaumar again. The location was perfect. Near enough to all the bars etc. but at the nicer end of the resort. Beach gorgeous and again kept so clean."

"We were a party of 9 - 2 families with children ranging from 11 to 15 - and we all had a great time during our one week stay at Blaumar. It is very well situated - separated from the main road which runs alongside the beach promenade by a small Square which means there is no problems with traffic noise. The Hotel itself is very clean and the staff polite and pleasant. The food is good with a great selection particularly for Dinner in evening (7pm - 10pm). Facilities in Hotel include a games area for kids (pool table etc), a Computer Games Room also for kids and an indoor bar/lounge area where the evening entertainment was held. We stayed in the Apartment block in a separate building adjacent to Hotel and our room was spacious and overlooked pool area. Only small negative points were the evening entertainment which was "sparse" - we only saw a couple of professional shows although there was a Mini Disco every evening and the water in the pool being very cold! Kids did manage in a few days but they had to be brave! These -ves didn't spoil our stay though as the weather was actually better than we had expected and we were pleasantly surprised by number of other Scottish guests in Hotel - the power of Trip Advisor? The end of Salou where the Hotel is situated is very pleasant - not downmarket at all! The promenade is the best I've seen with fountains aplenty and more importantly for our group a 5-a-side football pitch which was extremely well used by our boys! We spent 3 days at Port Aventura (great particularly during week when queues were minimal) and visited Barcelona by train (1.5 hours journey) on another day. Overall a fantastic holiday and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Blaumar to other families."

"The location and standard of the hotel are excellent. The room sizes are good and the kitchen facilities basic, but okay - take a kettle and some mugs with you. We originally had a room overlooking the pool, but the rooms on the other side, especially on the 6th floor have a stunning view of the beach, the promenade and the coast line, if you don't get one of the apartments at the front. I think these were more expensive. If you book through the website, the numbers to request would be 1614, 1616 and possibly 1618 - we had the 5th floor (1512) and the view was good but the 6th floor views were stunning. The only downside was the smell in the bathroom from the drains. Nothing seemed to make a difference and the smell was pretty bad for all of our stay, hence the hotel not getting 100% Decent buffet dinner in the restaurant, but we enjoyed 'El Toro' which did a tasty steak. I thought that it's probably the best part of Salou to stay in. Enjoyed the holiday, the hotel, the beach and the parks but feel I've seen it and don't feel the need to hurry back."

simply the best
"What a find. mainly thanks to trip advisor. Outstanding in all aspects. Spotlessly clean. All the staff are happy , polite and nothing was too much trouble for them even at the end of the season. The rooms are spacious , comfortable, and full of little extras we didn't expect. Go to the hotel spa and enjoy the sauna, steamroom and gym, it's all free. The children's facilities are great and much fun for them, but it doesn't have the feel of a British kids type holiday place , very tasteful. The food in the buffet is all fresh, beautifull meals great chef, you really feel spoilt for choice .excellent service. and again I can't stress enough how clean the whole place is. Salou is definitely not a tacky place ,upmarket designer shops great planning along the promenades. No litter anywhere, the beach is raked and cleaned every day. Loads of beach play areas for kids and peaceful areas for grown ups.Cann't wait to go back."

Great Location - recommended especially for families
"Just came back from a week at this hotel and stayed in a family room which was in a separate block. This was only a very short walk to the main hotel and wasn't inconvenient. The room itself was like a mini apartment, there was a separate bedroom with a large bed and lounge area with seating that comfortably slept two children (with a pull out bed for a third - suitable for child or adult). It was good to have a kitchenette although we only used it mainly for making hot drinks and snacks. The balcony was large with a good view - overlooking a square and the beach/promenade. There was a large selection of buffet food for both breakfast and dinner. The only downside was that with two fussy eater children, the children's catering was not that good - chips every night aand some rather crunchy nuggets and hotdogs! This was only served three out of the seven nights we stayed so the children got a little hungry but that's when the kitchenette came in handy! Overall, the Hotel facilties were very good - nice pool, food and cleaning/change of towels every day. The hotel also has a room with games in (Ninentendo Game Cube). Unfortunately only two of the four were working, so you had to wait some time before you can have a go - not bad for a free service though. The Hotel also has arcade type things such as air hockey, billiards/pool and arcade games. However, we found a proper arcade by the shops and only around three mins walk from the hotel. The games here were cheaper to play and lasted a lot longer than the ones in the hotel. The location is superb - the beach is across the road and shops within a couple of minutes walk. The bus stop was only around a three minute walk as well. There are loads of shops, restaurants and various supermarkets dotted around. Port Aventure is well worth a visit - the bus ride took around 10 mins and cost 1 Euro 55 cents each. The only downside is that the buses get very crowded but they are regular which makes a nice change. Overall, would recommend this hotel to all and in particulary for families. For info: Reus Airport is about a 10 min taxi ride to Salou and costs 30 Euro. Buses go to the airport quite regularly but as they can get really crowded woudn't recommend this if you are travelling with kids or have a lot of luggage. Ciggaretts are 30 Euro for 200 and there is a good selection. Nearest Tabac is on the beachfront, just past MacDonalds. You just turn left out of the hotel, keep walking and you will find it!"

Great hotel, Great location
"Stayed here for 2 nights, was a fantastic place. Loved the closness to the beach, no more than 2 minutes away, perfect! Rooms were nice, had a 6th floor room but not the best view (other apartments an a crane but could see 2 Port Aventura rides from the balcony!) Stayed in a double single single room which came with a small kitchen/dinnete area (2 hobs, sink, fridge, table an chairsx4), nice living space and bathroom. Bedroom is seperate from living space. Balcony was a good size with heater and clothes maiden plus 2 chairs and table (smoking permitted on balcony) Even though the rooms were spotless the floors get your feet really dirty so don't walk around in bare feet unless you want to take it all to bed with you! Breakfast was nice, though really busy and the food is spread out all over the place which can get annoying. Staff are friendly and helpful and most speak really good english too. If your staying here for a few nights though make sure you budget in for the safe. Its a 10Euro deposit (refundable) and then 5Euros each night (non-refundable) you want to use it. You can use a safe in the lobby for 3Euros (non refundable) a night but there out in the open. All in all a great place to stay and would highly reccomed it!"

Forgot to say thank you to the Blau Mar for making our anniversary special!!
"Crikey well this is quite overdue...This hotel was outstanding in terms of value and how well we were treated. We went to Salou for our first wedding anniversary in April. When we checked in we were given keys and proceeded to look for our 'room'. We finally discovered that our room was in a separate block on the sea front. The room was a corner apartment with two bedrooms, a kitchen a living area and a stretching balcony overlooking the sea. The apartment was immaculate and modern. On the day of our anniversary we were provided with a bottle of cava and a lovely note written in Spanish to congratulate us. The weather was excellent and we enjoyed coffee by the pool, soaking up the sun. We visited Port Aventura on the little train which stopped close to the hotel and was fairly cheap. Not much queueing for rides- in fact we went on some several times in succession (big kids welcome here). There were things to do for children such as a games room and separate pool area and the evening entertainment attracted plenty of visitors. Staff were very accommodating and appeared to appreciate our stilted Spanish. Food was fine- fairly average but with some nice touches such as cooking stations with fresh asparagus or grilled meats. There were some quaint looking tapas bars and pizzerias within a ten minute walking radius. Taxis to/from the airport (Reus) cost around 30 Euros. We stayed for a long weekend and were sad to return- although a well known budget airline that fly in to Reus ruined our lovely time by delaying our flight and then 'droping us off' at Birgmingham airport at 3am (We were expecting(!) to return to Stanstead (where our car was parked!!!)....nightmare!! No transport was provided back to Stanstead and no compensation provided...guess that's just karma. Anyway, I would certainly recommend the Blau Mar for its quality and especially for its good value outside of high season. It's just a hop across the road to the beach and promenade and a 10-15 minute walk to the main area with more bars/nightlife. This year we went to Las Vegas for our anniversary but are returning to Salou in July because we had such a nice time. It's easy to keep venturing far and wide but Salou is an easily underestimated destination and an excellent long weekend/summer destination so if you've booked here rest assured you will have a great time."

"Really nice hotel. The food was lovely and whole hotel very clean. As it was out of season the pool bar was closed and there was no entertainment which was a shame but I would not hesitate in returning to this hotel. However I would go in the main holiday season."

"I stayed there for one week 14-21 Oct with my husband and 3 children(aged 8). Staff were very helpful, friendly and effecient, plus very goodlooking(one male in particular),We had a room that slept the 5 of us, the kids were in the living room and my husband and i were in the bedroom(2 single beds), A small kitchen, but we never used it for cooking as we were half board and ate out at lunchtime. Food was amazing, dining room spotless waiting staff lovely, the quality of the food was 2nd to none even although the coffee in the morning was rotten. Pool was also spotless and the area around it was well maintained and looked after. I would go back again anytime"
