"Have stayed twice before, but this time very disappointing, Had to insist room was cleaned on arrival before unpacking cases,Food very bland had to wait 30 minutes for hot food to be cooked,Cockroaches running around in restaurant advised member of staff who put her foot on it.Bacon was reformed and not real, gave mine to the cockroaches,Staff look like they have swallowed a bee each. Took in a small bottle of water to take medication, not allowed only there rip off drinks,no beef on the menu so far, asked for coat hangers still waiting, only one user plug in main room,no kettle, single ply toilet paper so bring your own marry gold gloves, never ever again. "We just came back from hotel Negresco Salou Spain 29/6/2014 . fantastic views . very friendly staff ,sue & her team , Luis the manager , bar staff Manuel , Alona , Jose , Kyrill , Audrie , all great fun . we're from Cardiff wales & yes there is Russians & Germans there but so what there's also plenty of irish , Scottish , english & welsh so stop bleating & enjoy yourselves . hotel very clean , rooms basic but that's what you get wherever you go !!!!!! food "ok" about 25 mins walk into main town but taxis are cheap enough if there's 4or5 of you its only 2 euros each same as taking the bus ... we went all inclusive & had plenty of drinks & food so take it from us it was worth every penny ... ps don't listen to reps they will tell you to go to smugglers bar 10 minutes away but we thought the paddock was cheaper & the food was superb (try it ) . Happy Holidays."

"My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 week, we planned a relaxing holiday which is what we got. The pool area has a relaxed atmosphere. There is a small sandy beach approx 5 minuntes walk from the hotel but it's via uneven, fairly steep steps (difficult to manoeuvre pushchairs onto the beach) and there are no toilet facilities on the beach and nowhere to purchase food/drinks. There is a more accessible beach for the less mobile a further 5 minutes walk away and another beach slightly further that has toilets and a food/drink outlet. The walk into Salou town centre is about 20-25 minute walk. The walk from the hotel to Salou is uphill so not for couch potatoes but good to walk your evening meal off! There are hardly any shops or bars near to the hotel but Knights bar is worth a visit. The food in the restaurant varied from evening to evening, from excellent to average. We did visit the hotel bar one evening but it was like a childrens playground so didn't bother again, when my children were younger they would have loved it! All in all, a nice hotel but really depends on what you are looking for and how close you want to be to amenities."

"After reading information and comments on hotel was very worried.
hotel very clean and food good at all times of day we went all inclusive which was well worth the money as you get snacks and ice creams including cornetos which they don t tell you about. bought tickets for parks off the internet before travelling was told they were cheaper off travel republic so try there . Water park was ok and so was big park but long queues for rides shows were good though.
hotel entertainment could of been better but good for kids .The views were very nice and a nice quiet hotel so you could sleep.
Air condtioning was quite noisy but u can switch it off by taking out the key card get a extra one as you can leave in as then electrics will stay on and bedroom cool when u get in.
fridge was very handy and had a very good stay would go back again but salou not cheap so book for food and drinks as we worked out you would spend about 80 pounds a day for three if you ate and drank
Go and enjoy as we did "

Falsely advertised

"I saw the The Best Negreso on Hays Travel webside. The pictures looked great. Uninterupted sea views. I paid extra for these. We got there and waited along time to be seen and were told we were booked in the Best negresco 2 over the road (not what our hotel voucher said) . This is just quite simply another hotel. Any claim its part of a complex is nonsence. Its just a different hotel of which there was no mention by hays. Even the fire instructions have its previous "princess" name on them. Its obviously just an oversplill hotel as all the facalities are in the Proper Negresco Hotel. There was a nice sea view but it was half sea and half the back of the negresco hotel we should have been in.
The air conditioning was not turned on as it would have been in the proper hotel. The sheets were dirty and the replacements had blood stains on them. We felt like second class customers.

So my warning is simple. As nice as the Negresco pictutes and descriptions are you could quite easily find yourself in Negresco 2 which is not as nice. The fact Negresco is not mentioned or advertised says it all."

"We stayed at the Negresco 2 in August 2009. Returned to the same hotel August 2010, something we have never done before. Had a wonderful time. All rooms, apart from family ones have sea view. Ours was great. Very large room with coffee table and chairs as well as 2 good sized beds, also fridge and more cupboard and drawer space than we could fill.
Food was very good. The large restaurant was never crowded. Plenty of room between tables.
Food wasn't quite as good the 2nd time but it was still of a very high standard - plenty of it and plenty of choice.
This is the quieter version of Negresco 1, over the road. Could use all their facilities but didn't envy them the restaurant. Queues were very common, crowded and noisy."

"Im just back from my holiday in salou i stayed in the negresco hotel with my brother, the hotel was beautiful but was the most boring hotel i ever stayed in, the people were very snobish and we felt like outsiders as we were irish.
French German Spanish Russian rule this hotel so if your English irish Scotish or Welsh i would look elsewhere. There is no entertainment for adults at this hotel all the entainment is focused on kids and is in spanish. The TV only has one english channel BBC world news. The hotel itself is split into two parts negresco 1 which is the main negresco 2 which is across the road most of the ameinities are in the main part.So if your looking for fun you will be getting taxis to salou town every night i would describe salou town as ballymun in the sun, hundreds of shops trying to sell you crap some great pubs but even great pubs get boring after a while so if your looking for mental stay in salou town and be kept awake all night or if you want quite and boring stay at the negresco but remember to bring your rasor blades for a quick way out. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED"

but we had a fab time clean rooms, nice dining room, lots of food choice and most of the staff were lovely. We were fortunate to get a sea view room so to be honest we were moved into a back room on the last day as we were checking out late but this "courtesy" room was not cheap but we were glad to have it.I would suggest anyone with kids would prefer Negresco 1 we were in 11 across the road with quiet pool area and not many kids, although it is nice to see children enjoying the pool.We would go back here.

"olla, we are just back from the best negresco as a family our 2 year old son, myself, partner and grandfather. the accomodation is superb, the view from the hotel is breath taking, it over looks the sea and that's just from reception! yes there is a lot of diffent nationaltys at this hotel but they are very pleasant people who made a fuss of children. we had a double room which myself and partner and son stayed in, there was more than enough space for us to sleep in. cleaned every day of the week mainly around 11 in the morning. we didnt get a sea view but we did over look the front of the hotel which was so peaceful so no loss there! We went half board and got our breakfast(7-11am) and dinner(7-11pm). the food its self was fantastic more than enough for any one to eat. it was catered to suit all people, anyone to complain about it must be mad as it was a different meal every night and ranged from starter-main-pudding. and obviously the spainish food is a little different from the english food so it will taste a little differnt but still great!there is entertainment at night but we choose to go to the other part of cap salou as we found a great wee bar that was catered towards children it had bouncy castle, trampolines musical rides and also had delicious coffee!we went there every morning after the beach just to have that cup of coffee. the pool facilties were good but not for children under 4 but... why go to a swimming pool when there is a fantastic golden beach right on the door step of the hotel where your child will have the most wonderful time running round the beach and is safe, the water is so shallow you can walk right into the sea and still its only up to your knees, it also has kiosks to suit any one for ice cream to a pint of "san miguel"! you can also rent the paddle boats for 15euros for 1 hour. there is a handy bus stop at the top of the road which all buses go to salou town and La Pineda and various other places, and is only a cheap bus fair of 1.50 euro each. also there is a 10 minute walkway into salou town its self which is great if you fancy a nice relaxing walk. i would definately recommend going to La Pineda for the day and it is like salou town but without the hustle and bustle of people handing out leaflets telling you where to go and eat etc. As for our rep he was great he got us our portaventura tickets with a complemintary free day pass too. which only cost 44euros each for adults and free for under 5 year olds. a tip would be go on the bus to the theme park at 9.30am get there for 10am when it opens. no queing and you will defiantely get on the rides at least 2 or 3 times in a row. we went on the furius baco twice. no queues at all. but dont go on the saturday its horrendious for the queues! and that was just trying to get into the park! we will definately be going back to this resort and this fabulous hotel and its breath taking scenery. thanks negresco for a wonderful holiday! adios!"

Good Relaxing Holiday

"We stayed with our two teenage sons before the busy school holidays. Great to relax lovely view out to sea but all rooms with sea views reserved for the spanish. Rooms very clean and quite modern but not massive. Food very good. The problem for us was the swimming pool my husband got a bad ear infection when we were on holiday. Two days after returning home my
son became quite ill. Bad enough to take him to hospital. My husband has since become
ill which we are pretty certain it was from the pool. Important to check that it is being cleaned and the filter system is working. We did not see it cleaned when we were there. Toilets not user friendly for children using the pool. Apart from the pool overall we had a lovely holiday excellent value and we went on a late booking. Problem with getting suitcases from bus stop is not very good. We travelled on the buses and taxis. If there is four of you it is as cheap to go by taxi to the waterpark and into salou. Our sons went on the pub crawl said it was good night and a way to meet other people. For night life you will need to go into salou and taxi prices are the same price 24hours a day. For a sunbed get down early with your towel or go after lunch around the pool! Entertainment is really geared for families with children. Most people seem to go for a walk in the evening or just have a drink or the terrace which is pleasant to do but can be a bit boring if you were there for two weeks and not have a hire car. But nowhere to park so easier to not have one."
