Where to begin .....
"Gòod news 1st :- good location .beach just over the road .hotel in itself was fine .clean towels etc changed regular .Fran and ed were absolutely brilliant .my grandson kobey loved them .nothing was too much for them .in my view the lads made the Holliday.thank you both sooooo much .the outside bar was good for snacks .and most of the barstaff were nice. (Perhaps smile more ).the gent who cleaned up the pool area was a lovely chap always a smile bless him .right now the bad news :- unless you got to the restaurant as soon as it opened the food was mainly cold .the staff waiting on were very unhelpful .it was un organised chaos .and did feel like a school canteen as was said before .a lot of the staff needed a personality transplant .no help with luggage you were told what your room no and floor you were on and off you go. .2 young girls we met were not even told what floor they were on .the hotel manager had selective language hearing .if there was a prob he didn't understand English. He was very very rude to a poor chap who had all his jewelry stolen by a STAFF member. they basically took the mick out of him .so I suggest he change his attitude if he wants his hotel to thrive . ..........NO we deffo won't be back ."

The worst cambrills
"We have been to this hotel on four previous occasions and it's been ok this time was not the case 3 days into our stay we were invaded by over 200 boys and youths playing in a football tournament for five days they caused havoc in the dinning room in the corridors and especially in the pool we and other guests complained many times but it fell on deaf ears these boys have been to this hotel at this time 28th of June for at least the last 2 or 3 years don't go at this time your holiday will be ruined"

hotel best cambril
"we booked as a chance holiday and a bit of a bargain, had read many mixed reveiws so didnt really know what to expect so went with an open mind. was a bit concerned when we pulled up outside the hotel as looked a bit run down but once inside very nice reception area. staff at reception friendly and pleased to help, rooms basic but very comfortable, we emailed the hotel prior to holiday to enure we had a poolside room and we got it with nice veiws of the pool area and the sea. food was a little cold on the first day but seemed to improve altho they do provide microwaves if you are fussy. bar are nice and staff very friendly especially javier who by the second nite knew our order off hand. we took 2 trips out one to barcelona zoo and then around the city we did this on the local bus and drivers very helpful wen we got to salou they escorted us off the bus to a coach tour bus. we also went on the catamaran trip booked through thompsons both very good trips. the only complaint is that the entertainmet at the time of year was more aimed at the older generation who like their ballroom dancing but there are plenty of bars to go to near by. i would def go again we had a weeek of sunshine and a very enjoyable stay."

"We have stayed at this hotel twice. On our first stay (2006) we had a room facing the rail way station which yes was abit noisy but well you dont spend all day in your room. we did go in the busiest time of the year though. Our second visit (2007) we had a pool side view with balcaony which was a beauitful view. The food the second stay was a liitle bit disappointing but i think this was down to the company being changed over. In regards to other comments about miserable staff, yes the recpetion staff can be slightly miserable but we have never had a bad thing to say about the waiting staff. At the end of the day if you worked 15+ hour days in scortching heat wouldnt you be abit miserabe!!! The pool area is very relaxing and clean and tidy as are the rooms and other areas of the hotel. Local attractions are nice and all have good and regular public transport. Me, my partner and our two friends are planning another 10 day break new year 2008. cant wait! Your holiday is only what you make of it!!!"

"we stayed in this hotel in the end of june we couldnt have picked a better hotel. Is was across from the beach and had shops bars and restaurants all close by. A bus went every 20 mins from outside the hotel to both salou and cambrills. The food was good and when you had half board you could either have lunch or dinner depending on what suited you on the day and the selection for breakdfast set you up for most of the day. We had our 2 kids aged 4 and 7 and granny and grandad also came along it suited us all as there was entertainment for kids early evening and then entertainment for adults . I found everything very clean about this hotel including the pool and the only small downfall it had the kids were not allowed any inflateables in the pool but apart from that it was excellent. If you want to be in the middle of all the buzz then stay in salou itself but if you want abit of peace this is the hotel and is olny minutes from salou. Im trying to get this hotel for my hasband and i for a 4day break end of april as its our anniversary!"

"I was very happy on arrival to the hotel, the reception area very clean and fairly modernised as well. The reception staff were welcoming and offered to take our bags whilst we looked around the hotel. The pool area is very nice with plenty of sunbeds, as with other hotels previously had to reserve sunbeds early morning, this was not necessary here as there was enough for everybody. There is a lifeguard by the pool side all day every day, so children are safe within the pool. The restaurant was average, food was not of best quality, but you get what you pay for. There is always plenty of choice, and a lot of the meat is cooked as you want it. The chips and other food however is not always warm. There is choices or a variety of fruit, also with tea or coffee accessible. The staff are not rude, but do not always fully understand what you require. As for the room, the room is fairly spacious and clean, with new towels as required, simply leaving them in the bath and the cleaners will supply fresh towels. The balconies on the first floor very spatious and would definately recommend a pool view. The entertainment however was very poor unless you were German/French. British children would not be able to join in. There is no day time activities for adults or teenagers however there is a children's club for little ones."

Went to Cambrils Princess Hotel in Sept ...
"Went to Cambrils Princess Hotel in Sept and can honestly say we would never go there again. We booked through Thomson and it was under "family friendly" category, this was definitely not the case. The food was awful and not catered to toddlers so my youngster (14 months) lived on weetabix (brought from local shop) and bananas. The smallest swimming pool meant for children was filthy and god knows what was floating in there as all ages used it!! The room was very basis and not what I consider to be a 4 star, the reception staff were very ignorant of the English, - and itâs a VERY German hotel with very few English guests. The hotel is smack bang in the middle of the town Cambrils and Salou. Cambrils very Spanish and not catered as a resort for foreigners and Salou was a glorified Blackpool. We all got food poisoning too (this was only a 7 day holiday) and we're not certain where we got this from as we decided to eat out after 2 days of being there. Overall as far as we're concerned we would be very happy not to step foot in Spain again, last words avoid this hotel!"

"We went to this hotel on the 11th September 2007 and found it quite a pleasant hotel, if a tad run-down. There were rumours of a takeover by another group that had another hotel just up the road, which may have affected the morale of some of the staff but, generally they were a cheerful lot and helpful if you asked them something. Javier, Raul and Antonio in the main bar and pool bar couldn't do enough for you and the same with another chap whose name I didn't get, bit of a comedian too! The restaurant was run in much the same way as other Spanish hotels we've been to and, like them, you soon work out the best times to go for the evening meal and breakfast to avoid queues - sometimes it's a bit chaotic but generally good-natured with good intent. Food was fine as far as we were concerned although, sometimes they did have some odd descriptions or strange-looking desserts but there was always something from quite a good range and, to be honest, you would have to be very picky indeed to be unable to find anything! The beach was literally across the road and very clean with a beach bar and sun beds, although we found them a bit uncomfortable. The sea was amazingly warm too, considering the time of year. Beach vendors drive you mad if you let them so just smile and say "No thanks" and they go away. I said to one "It's all rubbish" and he replied "It's NOT rubbish!" so they have taken the trouble to learn English and some of them do have some quite nice stuff. There's a little supermarket opposite in the Edificio Colibri and we used them all the time. They even did a "beach kit" of sandwich, cake and a drink for four euros! The hotel itself is more in Villafortuny - about half-way between Cambrils and Salou. Cambrils seems more genteel and a bit more upmarket than Salou. Bit pricey in the restaurants too. Salou is a bit like Benidorm but not so brash as Benidorm can be - full of British bars, clubs, restaurants and even a small supermarket! The fountains and laser show at the weekends at 10 o'clock were really good so get there early. The promenades run all the way from Cambrils itself (and beyond probably) right through to Salou so you can take an evening stroll in either direction from the hotel in the evenings. The hotel's entertainment was quite good as far as we saw, (especially the flamenco - brilliant!) although we went out most evenings to local bars, like the Mucky Duck, Molly Malone's (cheap!) Fred's Bar (Welsh), the Rugby Tavern (I think!) or the Beer Factory (Spanish but excellent beers, wines and food). All I can say is that we had a great holiday and would definitely go again. "

"My husband and myself are just back from a two week break to this hotel and unless you do not mind queuing for breakfast and dinner do not go. The hotel itself was ok. but could do with a bit of modernisation, it was clean but the staff were not at all friendly. The restaurant was too small for the number of guests in the hotel, this meant you had to queue for meals(it was like being back at school). This was our first holiday to mainland Spain and it was that bad we will not be back."

"Rooms were not cleaned well at all. Food was very good but often the food was cold, especially the jacket potatoes. The staff should have enforced the rule of men not being allowed to wear shorts in the restaurant in the evenings, it looked very scruffy especially with the english wearing their fav. football shorts which they had worn to the beach all day! Walked to Cambrils and Salou, took approx 45 mins, although more shops in Salou they were tacky and overpriced. Cambrils is much prettier and it is great sitting in the harbour watching the boats coming in and out. Overall the weather was great, eating in the Mucky Duck was great fun, pool very cold, but lovely and clean, staff in reception were unfriendly and unhelpful. Might be a better hotel when they are taken over by Best Hotels later in 2007. BEWARE OF THIEVES SLITTING YOUR HANDBAGS WITH A RAZOR BLADE, A LOT OF IT GOING ON ESPECIALLY AT THE BUS STOPS."

"I spent 4 days at this hotel for my partners birthday in July. When i saw the hotel from the outside first of all i was a bit dissapointed as it looked a bit run down and not as good as in the brochure. But once we settled in i was rather pleased. The room was a good size but quite basic. My room was overlooking the railway, which didn't bother me too much as the trains wern't constant and didn't run through the night but i'd probably suggest to pay for a pool or sea room. The food in the hotel is good and i never once experienced cold food like alot of the other reviews mention. It is quite spanish though the food, so don't expect anything too english! The pool was really nice but when i went in july it was really packed. A bit impossible to get a sunbed. There is a pool bar where the staff are really friendly. The drinks throughtout the day were really cheap as well. The location of the hotel was really great. It was only over the road from the beach which was lovely, clean and huge! There were lots of bars and restaurants in the area, a lot of irish pubs too! Salou is great for nightlife. There were a lot of clubs and shops. The hotel i think was just in the best area. As the taxis were really cheap most of the time we walked along the seafront to salou and then got a taxi back. And Portaventura was great fun! the rides were great and there were fab rides for young kids. Def worth a visit. It was so hot when i went which was obviously was an added bonus. Overall i would def say this hotel was a fine hotel to stay in and looked a lot better than half the other hotels out there. It was very basic but the staff were helpful and it just made a great base to go out and about!!!"

"I do feel that many of the reviews can be separated in two; those who stayed on the poolside of the hotel and those who could literally stretch out and touch the train as I passed on the track outside their room. Unfortunately my partner and myself fall into the latter category. Once arriving at the hotel the reception area etc is indeed very clean and impressive, but once you reach you very small double room you do feel a little disappointed. Not many hotels actually have the curtains drawn in the room before you enter, but I was not surprised once you see the view from them. We took many trips to ensure that we had to spend as little time in the hotel as possible, and in all honesty this was the saving grace of this holiday! Barcelona is a wonderful city that I would return to, and Montserrat is beautiful! Overall if you decide that you would like to visit this part of the world it is beautiful, but don't stay in this hotel. "
