Excellent holiday again
"Yet again we had an excellent holiday at the Riu Nautilus this was our fifth holiday here and the service, cleanliness and food are excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. We were greeted with a very welcome drink on arrival, and allocated rooms where requested on 3rd floor annexe. The only slight complaint was we were offered a safe key on arrival but not told there would be a charge of over 25 euro on departure and also the bathroom towels sould be renewed with white towels instead of the brown, which although very clean have been the same since we originally stayed there. Having said that the food and service in the resturant was fantastic and we will definately stay there again. The location and pool area are very good with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Local bars very cheap (Toms Tavern)facing hotel 1.20 euro pint / coffee 1 euro. Also Rumours bar cheap and very clean."

"During the last thirty years my wife anmd I have stayed at many four and five star hotels and it is from this experience that I am able unreservedly to recommend the Hotel Riu Nautilus. The greeting on arrival, a glass of bucks fizz and the welcoming smiles from the Reception team made us feel at home immediately. Our room, although not the largest that we have had, was most comfortable and the view of the pool and the sea was perfect. The amenities of the hotel were first class. The restaurant, although self service buufet, was spacious and never seemed crowded or noisy. The food was excellent and always served piping hot. The selection was such that it took about four days before we got round to trying all the variations available. The pool restaurant also served excellent food. Evening entertainment was pleasant without too much noise and the occasional speciality evenings were superb. The staff were all very helpful and smiling. The promenade to the rear of the hotel was most enjoyable for walking along a very flat paseo maritime. No hills and plenty of fine fish restaurants. The only possible complaint would be that the road opposite the front of the hotel was filled with typical english bars and restaurants, although this was an advantage for a quick snack and very cheap beer and spirits. We enjoyed our seven days at the hotel last year and have now booked a return for ten days this coming September. "

"Riu Nautilus is a fantastic hotel! I went there with my husband and 3 children, 2 are teenagers and the other is 6. The location is perfect as it's right on the beach, which we walked along in the evening as the entertainment was a bit of a disappointment, though there is a mini disco. There are a few places to play golf which kept my children occupied! The rooms are very clean, comfortable and have a lot of space, there is a mini-bar, TV, safe, plenty of wardrobe space with hangers, drawers, hair dryer, some had double sinks, balcony. The hotel pool is a very good size, but the shallow end is 0.94 metres so my 6 year old son could just stand up, but it didn't stop him coming in with his armbands! There is a baby pool which was good. Around the pool there were plenty of comfortable sunbeds and lovely views of the sea and mountains. There are loads of restaurants along the beach, which are ideal if you want something to eat for lunch, though the pool bar food is nice and fairly priced. There is a games room which we spent some time in and there is also internet access. And outside you can play table tennis and pool. The food was excellent. There was a wide choice of food and all good quality. At dinner the only bad thing was the long queue for ice cream, but it did go down quickly. Other desserts were fruit and cakes. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Sealife, the aquarium was a waste of time and money. They claim to have the biggest collection of sharks in Europe, which I found quite amusing as there they weren't many sharks and the ones we did see were tiny in comparison to the sharks in the London Aquarium. I would definitely go there again and would highly recommend this hotel to families, elderly and couples."

"My wife and I (both early 40's) visited this hotel (nearer Belnamadena than Torremolinos) for 10 days in June 2007. Very impressed with accommodation, outside pool and friendliness of staff. Food selection very good but we like to dine out occasionally so visited the Nahoor Mahal Indian Restaurant (opposite Triton Hotel) twice which was the best Indian meal we have ever had and comes highly recommended. Like others have said only slight complaint is the need to have more English Channels on bedroom TV, and consideration to be given to have some tribute bands as a form of entertainment rather than the usual flamenco dancers, organ players etc which everyone has become tired of, and doesn't encourage you to remain within the hotel for the evening. On that note we became a regular of across the roads "Toms Tavern" which is now under the new management of the extremely friendly Dave and Jean ably assisted by man of many faces Mike (Paul O'Grady, Jimmy Saville, Johnny Depp, Richard Gere (From a distance !!). This pub is an excellent meeting place for repeat visitors as well as being only 2 euro a drink. Try it well worth a visit. In summary would definitely visited this hotel and resort again."

"7 of us arrived for a golf holiday and stayed at this hotel for a week. The food was the best ever. Rooms were very well presented and clean. The maids were very conscientious. The pool area was very acceptable with sun beds available whenever you chose to use the pool side. The drinks were a little more expensive than elsewhere, but that is the norm. I would recommend this hotel without reservation to anyone, who may be thinking of staying at this hotel. We would definitely stay at this hotel again"

"I would confirm everything that has been said, Food great, rooms clean, staff very freindly. I did complain that tv has 7 german channels and no english other than sky news and cnn. No clock in room or writing paper. no tea or coffee in room. Hotel caters for elderly visiters. we are youngsters in late 40's. Again food was really good and rooms clean, which is what you want. Marina 200yards away for shops etc. Watch out for pick pockets on buses. Scratch card guys on promenade who are time share punters. Flower sellers in marina. Pick pockets work behind them!"

"Stayed four nights early feb, very clean good sized rooms with a fair priced bar tarrif. Agree with other reviews not for children or the under 60s.Whilst we were there a number of people had spoken about a number of break ins at other accomodations and even two people had recently been Mugged,at night the area around the hotel after 10pm was like a ghost town which was disturbing when walking home. If the information is correct the problem needs sorting very quickly given the age of the clients visiting the area during the winter time"

"Booked Hotel through the RIU site which worked out the cheapest for the week we were going. The hotel and staff were 1st class. The food was the best we have had anywhere, hot, varied and presented beautifully. The hotel is right on the promenade and really is nearer to Benalmadena that Torremolinos. Good location for anyone with walking difficulties. At breakfast if you wanted coffee you were given a thermos at your table and you served yourself tea in a tea pot which saved trips to and from the machine. At dinner there was a special dish served by the chef and a speciality sweet, baked Alaska, warm strawberries served in liqueur, etc. The manager came round your table every meal to make sure you were enjoying your stay and the atmosphere was very friendly, we felt they really did want you to enjoy your stay. There were people there who had come back year after year and lots of people holidaying alone. We had a room over looking the pool with a sea view but unfortunately no sun but the view was so beautiful we didn't want to change. They rang us when we had been in the room about half an hour to make sure it was suitable. If you do want the sun you need to be in the main building quite high up, especially in winter. The entertainment in the hotel was ok with the resident host and of course the odd game of bingo but 3-4 nights a week there was dancers, acrobats etc which were very good. Again waiters excellent, friendly and efficient. Lots of cheap bars at the back of the hotel the friendliest we found was 'Toms Tavern' where the drinks were less than half anywhere else. 2euro for a G and T etc, good music and banter, lots of regulars go in there. Bus and train service good. No taxis at the nearest train station so if you are coming from the airport by train go to Torremolinos and get a taxi. Will be going back and highly recommend."

Great For Winter Break
"If you are in our age bracket (65+) this is the hotel to stay at for a winter break.Mostly German guests but you would expect that being a Riu hotel but do not be put off everyone was very friendly and English is widely spoken. Staff were exceptionally polite and helpful in every department. Not a winter hotel for children as there is no kids club etc ( good i hear the oldies say haha ). Entertainment not top class but varied for everyones taste and pleasent enough to while away a few hours in the bar. Food was very good and as much as you want at anytime.Apartment was very spacious with A/con and a ceiling fan if required at night. Will we go back!!! You bet we will, roll on Dec 2007"

"This Riu hotel is nearer Benalmadena than Torromolinos as we found out after having taken the Renfe train from the airport to Torremolinos and then tried to walk - in the end we called a much needed cab - I imagine the walk could be done without cases or the buses run from the hotel to Torremolinos. Very clean as all Riu hotels are - a friendly but not overly warm reception - no cocktail as is usual in all Riu hotels. Very pleasant room if a bit small and dated, although a side sea view this was quite pleasant. As is usual with most Riu hotels a wonderful evening buffet with excellent caring service. Pool area a little dated but the advantage of being right on the seafront and promonade. This hotel sits between two lovely small towns, benalmadena and torremolinos which between them have plenty to offer for relaxation and holiday."

Great time had by all
"Overbooked at the Rui Belplaya and was transferred to the Riu Nautilus.Stayed first week August 2006. Welcome was extremely warm and friendly but were informed that the rooms did not cater for 5 people ( 2 adults, 2 children and 1 infant) and were upgraded to a suite free of charge. Rooms were lovely and we had a seafront view overlooking the hotel pool and the beach that was just a stones throw away. The kids loved the pool....the hotel has a non reservation policy for the sunbeds but it still didn't stop some people reserving them early not at 5am but by about 9.30am most sun beds had towels on them. The pool was good and not too overcrowded a lifeguard was on duty from 10am-6pm incidently this is the time the pool is open but no-one seemed to pay heed to this and people we in the pool from 8am until 9pm. Breakfast and evening dinner were excellent the staff were really friendly and extremely nice. As vegetarians who lucky eat fish the food was lovely for about 3 days and then you got sick of eating deep fried or shallow fried fish. My son ate wedges and chips for the whole week but as a fussy eater he was happy. The hotel could have had more variety with the fish and in dishes etc. Our rooms were made up everyday and the air conditioning was very cold. We booked our holiday last minute and the hotel and overall holiday was excellent. The beach was beautiful but my youngest (nearly 2) decided she hated sand and didn't like the noise the sea waves made so while I spent my time at the pool my husband sat with his feet in the sea on his own. My 2 year old also got a tummy bug for 4 days and we couldn't decide whether she was teething or had a bug. My 11 year old ended up with a sunburned nose even though we were using fator 50+ sunblock and the Pharmacia was only 5 minutes walk away and very helpful. The staff all spoke a variety of languages and their english was excellent. The domestic staff ie repairmen and chambermaids however spoke no english. But when my 2 year old had been vomiting and covered all the bedsheets all that was needed was some hand gesturing and explaining to the chambermaids and it was all cleared up without a fuss. Evening entertainment is limited but the magician on our last night was excellent. The only grips we had were not enough activity for the kids and no nappy changing facilitites for babies. Note....taxis will only take 4 people so your infant is also counted and at some points we had to take 2 taxis so beware."
