"This hotel is a 2 star hotel which is definitely at the top of the range. It was spotlessly clean and our rooms were serviced every single day of our 2 week stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and always ready and willing to offer assistance. The food was basic but good quality without a change of menu at all over the 2 weeks but considering the price paid, we couldn't complain. On the down side, the pool is small and part of the pool area is always in shade but as we were there out of school holidays our boys thoroughly enjoyed the pool - which was cleaned several times each week. The lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms was a definite downer as the temperature was in the mid 40s but there were ceiling fans which were in constant use. All in all, we had a really great holiday. We were able to relax in the air conditioned lounge area most afternoons and even watch our soaps! We would recommend this hotel as a very economical hotel with cleanliness and friendliness at its heart. Norman, Norma and Simon Rhodes"

"This hotel is officially a 2 star but I wouild give it 2.5/3. A traditional style hotel with rooms looking over the pool (well ours was!). The standard of the room was very good and extremely clean. The towels were changed on a daily basis. The Breakfast was ok, but I have had better. It more than surpassed our needs though. The restaurant could've been a little bigger imo. Just a short walk to local restaurants, but be careful to check out the prices before you go in! I had a situation with my son cutting his knee, and I cant thank the reception staff who ran to his attention immediately, what great service (They were both booking people in too) Place could do with a lick of paint, but overall great."

"Very basic room. No heater, we went in November. Shower did just that...it showered everywhere. The water had to run for over 5 mins for it to get warm. The beds were hard. The receptionist was on the phone when we arrived just after mid-day. She never hung up. Just shoved a piece of paper over to us to tell us what room we were in. Reminded me of the "Carry On" film. Food was "acceptable" but luke warm. The bar staff were extremely pleasant though. It was a late get-away and we got what we paid for, I suppose. Situated very close to the front and ideal for most things. Flat area for walking. We are two adults (57) who enjoy getting around the area and nightlife."

"We had booked this week's getaway months in advance, and was looking forward to the accommodation based on several good reviews on this website. The hotel was clean and tidy, 2 minutes from the beach and a short walk to Benelmadena and local pubs and restaurants. The promenade into the marina is a pleasant walk and becomes very lively at night. The hotel was not a noisy one; however the walls allowed noise to travel through (furniture being moved on tiled floors etc). The small menu at the bar was sufficient and the breakfast was what you would expect of a bed and breakfast hotel, nothing special however. The pool area was a small one, with only three tables, three parasols and many sun loungers. There is a sun deck which catches plenty sun throughout the day, and the area is a good wee sun trap. Only downside of the pool was the lack of enforcement from the management about pool rules, as several children who appeared to reside at the hotel ran amok, hogged the pool, launched beach balls all over the pool area (balls and lilo's are not permitted in the pool, and with one couple asking the management to enforce that rule, however the kids were moved to the top end of the pool, where myself and my girlfriend were lying, and were repeatedly splashed and had the ball flying all around us). The staff were pleasant enough, not very helpful however and appeared to favour Spanish speaking residents. Tips and advice: For local outings, the waterpark Aqualand is a pleasant day out, with several moderate rides but in the hot weather is a fab day out. Right next door is the Crocodile park, which also is an interesting day out, as there are lots of big crocs and alligators. After a walk through Benelmadena marina, up the long, long hill, you can reach Tivoli World, which appears to be THE tourist attraction as there are several advertisements for the place, and our rep said is was just as good as Alton Towers. How wrong were we, as it was geared up for children, and did not feel very safe (rollercoaster controller running for emergency stop button for one). At the gates to Tivoli World is the cable car to the top of the mountain, we did not go on this however it looked like a good sightseeing journey. On the whole, a relaxing holiday, we would go back, knowing the area a bit better now, however brush up on your Spanish, you might get more out of the staff that way."

Loved our holiday but a short resume of the downnside of el tiburon
"I stayed in this hotel, with my son for a week. We were complete slugs!! We just read in the sun, went for a short walk to find a meal or were asleep!! The hotel, as previously stated was very basic. The bedrooms could definitely do with an update. The paintwork, curtains, bathroom and furniture were all a bit tired. The bathroom floor was exceptionally slippery when wet and NO bathmat is provided. TAKE CARE! All the food was very good - especially the £7.00 steak in the snackbar! Despite these couple of moans, we had a good time."

great price, grand hotel
"just got back from a four day stay at El Tiburon. Picked it mainly from the reviews on the forum but was slightly dissapointed with the hotel, then again you cant really have many complaints for four nights plus breakfast for under â¬140 for two people! The rooms were slightly dated and rather small for my liking. Each had a tv with 3 english channels on it so not too bad if you end up spending time in it! pool was quite small and gets the sun from about 11-5 at this time of the year but its spotlessly clean. Major renevations going on in the apartment block next door so get used to being woken up at 8am if your heading there in the next couple of days or so! Rooms cleaned every day so no complaints there, like wise with breakfast, choice of cereal or bacon eggs etc and it all tasted quite good. The hotel itself is only about 2mins walk to the beach but about 25 mins (all uphill) to the centre of torremolinos so dont choose this if you want to be in the centre of things... Overall it was a grand hotel and id have no major complaints (except for the bloody drilling next door)"

Exceptionally good value
"Can only endorse what everyone else has said, the hotel is very good value for money. The rooms are basic but very clean, the towels were changed everyday. Breakfast pretty good, my other half is very partial to a croissant and was disappointed not to get any but I had plenty of toast and tea which is enough for me, if you wanted you could get fried eggs, bacon, hot dog sausages, beans, yoghurt, rolls, ham, cheese. Breakfast is served 8.30-10am but the chef was still bringing out fresh toast etc till about 10 past 10 which I thought was good of him. We hired a car but parking was a nightmare, it was a very busy weekend but we spent a long time driving around looking for somewhere to park, on the first night we arrived at 11pm and parked in what turned out to be a taxi rank, this wasn't obvious at night but next morning the car had been scratched quite badly by I guess an unhappy taxi driver, we had the fully comp insurance and had paid the excess waiver so it wasn't a problem but beware. For the money we paid I would definately stay in this hotel again without hesitation."

"I stayed in El Tiburon in march 06. I found the staff very friendly, the hotel exceptionally clean and the food excellent. My room was cleaned each day with new linnen on the bed. I stayed in room 401 (top floor) which is by the lift mechanism that is noisy. Its a 25 min walk into town centre & a quite a bit of it uphill. Lots of bars and seafood restraunts but little entertainment. The taxi from Malaga airport was 18 euros, this seems standard as the driver had a sheet with set fares laid out for him to work to. I would reccommend this hotel & would use it again."

"Good clean hotel with daily cleaning service and friendly staff, breakfast good, bar a bit dead now at night due to no smoking rule but it does stay open all night. Doors closing at night very noisy as u have to slam it to shut. Overall very nice hotel and should be more than a 2 star."

"We returned from spending a week in El Tiburon on 3rd March 2006.We made our choice of hotel based on the reviews we read on this site. We were not disappointed, the hotel proved to be a real gem! The standard of cleaning with fresh towels every day was first class. The breakfasts were excellent with all tastes and appetites catered for.All the staff were frindly, helpful and most spoke excellent English. The location could not be better being 80mtrs from the sea front and a pleasant 20mins stroll to the marina in Benalmedena.Just around the corner and clos to the sea front is the bar El Mojito where the food was excellent and the owner has a good sense of humour. A restuarant of note is La Trilla one street back from the front and a 10mins stroll in the direction of Benalmedena. We have now booked a further stay at El Tiburon at the end of September and look forward to it with relish - wonderful value for money!"

What A Bargain!!
"We stayed for 7 nights after viewing the comments on Trip Advisor. We did not regret our choice. Stopped in a three bed room which was spotlessly clean with fresh towels every day. The room heater was very effective but not required too much. There was something for everyone at breakfast. The position could not be better, 5 mins from beach and a steady 20 mins to the beautiful Benalmadina Marina. The staff were excellent and there is a no smoking policy in the bar area which is enforced. (Even the barman went outside for a cigarette) For the price it was excellent value for money and would take some beating. Would stay again."

"Stayed there in 2005 and booked to go back 2006, brochure told us a budget hotel 15 mins away from the beach but both was wrong its not a 5star hotel but service is great, rooms are clean and most of all you are made welcome and the hotel is only 5 mins away from the beach not sure why the brochure does not brag it up more. Food is ok. overall its great value for money."
