Nice hotel with hardworking staff
"The flight from Gatwick took off at 6.30 am UK time half an hour late and arrived at 9.55 Spanish time. Coach arrived at the hotel after doing drops in Fuengerola and Marbella at 1.40 Pm Journey time from Malaga airport about 1hr 45 mins. Check in took about half an hour and quite a lot of rooms were not ready so we left our cases in a secure room and went for lunch. Got our room at 4pm and it was a nice room overlooking the new pool. The dining room is large enough to seat 300 people but at dinner you need to be in there before 7-15 to 7.30 as you may find it difficult to get a seat. We found the food was varied with a good choice of salads mains with Pizza, Meat, Pasta and Fish options. There was also different types of Paella dishes served during our stay. Ok some of the food could be hotter and the wine was drinkable but not great in the restaurant. If you are going on a trip then order a packed lunch at reception the night before and then collect from the restaurant, it contains a bottle of water, bread rolls, butter , cheese, pate, biscuits and toast and fruit. The main bar area is next to the stage and you can get most drinks as part of the AI package including a couple of cocktails. The Inside Bodega bar which also has an outside terrace is nice for a drink and is down the corridor opposite reception where you can escape the noise of the Mini Disco at 8.30 pm. Most of the evening entertainment is done by animation team who I think have been employed by Tui but there are a couple of outside acts brought in - the Magician double act was ok. There are now two pool areas the New pool which is larger than the old pool and has loads of sunbeds around it. There is however a disproportionate number of Parasols with say 40 to 300 sunbeds for both areas. There is also a bar in the New pool area which is open from 11am to 5pm. We wanted to do the Granada tour to The Alambra Palace which we tried to book on the day after we arrived (Saturday for the following Wednesday) but fully booked and no tickets available so we did the Ronda trip by Train , 48 euro each which was 1hr 30 mins on a coach to Algercera then a very nice just under 2 hr train journey to Ronda through lovely countryside. The Journey back from Ronda is by coach and only takes one hour. A very pleasant day out. To get about is easy and cheap by Bus. Where you get dropped off your coach it is a Bus stop and this is where you get the bus to Puerto Banus or Marbella the cost of a ticket to Marbella is 1.22 Euro and a 20 minute bus ride. To get to Estepona you need to go over the foot bridge overpass to get to the other side of the busy road which is about 50 yds past the bus stop for Marbella. There is a main Supermarket 50 yds to the left of the hotel as you get to the pathway next to the main road, if you keep going straight on through the major roundabout then past 3 sets of traffic lights and cross the road and turn right this will take you to San Pedro centre about a 20 min walk Great Icecream shop called La Soberana in the pedestrian only area of the main street that leads to the church. All in all we had a good time at the hotel in spite of reception misplacing passports and room not being ready issue. My wife was also given a bottle of chilled Cava for her Birthday which was left in the room with a nice card, this was a nice touch. We would certainly consider returning to this hotel. Top tips 1. Get into dinner before 7.15 or it will be hard to get a seat. 2. Get your passport back as soon as possible, it might get misplaced. 3. Take beach towels and shower gel as only one day supply of shower and shampoo 4. Spray exposed body areas with mozzie spray before you go to dinner some people had bites even in April. 5. Use the buses to Puerto Banus 5 minutes or Marbella 20 mins very cheap at 1.22 Euro to get to Marbella. Also a free bus from hotel to Puerto Banus occasionally. 6. Buy tobacco or cigarettes at Local tobacconist in San Pedro 20 minute walk away as they are cheaper than the airport i.e 45 euro for 250gram of golden Virginia, the airport cost is 55 Euro which is also the price of 200 Benson and Hedges. 7. There is a 24 Hr pharmacy in San Pedro but I thought a bit pricey so take some medicines with you particularly Diocalm (Imodium) Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. 8. Take your own Tea Bags as the ones in the hotels are very weak and taste odd. 9. Keep your small drinks bottles and top them up in the restaurant, water coke etc. No bottles of water supplied by the hotel. 10. Had a nice 2 course lunch with coffee and 2 small beers at Don Leone Italian Restaurant in Puerto Banus on the Marina cost 38 Euro. We went back in one evening and had a couple of Pizzas and small beers and again around 38 euro, the Pescatori seafood pizza was lovely. If you sit near the front of any restaurant you will get handbags and sunglasses put in front of you by street sellers every 2 min no exaggeration they are everywhere in Marbella and Puerto Banus "

"We booked a holiday for 11 days at this disgraceful and needs reevaluating hotel. The rooms if you are lucky are ok. But we booked adjoining rooms because of 2 children. They put are children in a different room miles away from us. So imagine are holiday from then on.... the food was below standard very warm or cold most occasions. they also serve hotdogs everyday cold, might be good for Americans but i am British and like proper food, i think they have the sea in the kitchen,,,,, because it was fish everyday. I have never seen so much fish in one week. Disgusting. the drinks are served in plastic cups and you can only have two at a time. The bar staff rude and typically arrogant at all times,,,, the entertainment OMG ,,,,, i think the stage manager is the chuckle brothers. they had no direction at all. Seriously i am going to sue, Thomson holidays over this and i am going to get in touch with BBC watchdog over this. Thomson rep was a joke. Plus i have left a gear fit watch there and phoned as soon as i got back. And the reception said it wasn't there. Amazing,,,, the good news is i have the connection which is needed with the watch so it wont be any use to them. Please read this because i am going to put this on every review site there is. A poor no star hotel of a joke i have ever stayed in. Disgusting. Poor arrogant. Please be warned serious. "

Best holiday in years
"Got there late on the Thursday night but the bar-staff kindly waited for us. All meals were fine nothing, fancy but always something to eat, drink range was very varied and entertainment was good. Pool was not too busy for children and there was quite a few junior activities going on each day. Large courtyard area around bar with plenty of seating and tables, there was plenty of quieter spots to get away from the bar and the stage. This is an extremely good value three star all inclusive hotel, excellent value for money and staff were pleasant.10/10 would definitely go back !!!"

wouldnt go back
"just come back from hotel cortijo blanco, rooms very basic, food horrible and didnt cater for kids at all. Breakfast was best meal of the day, took us 2hrs to get to the hotel from the airport, very very long. Maids cleaned room everyday and the bar staff were very helpful as for everyone else they just didnt have time for you. Found it to be a Butlins but with nicer weather. We hired a car and went everywhere one place to visit is purto bunus. Been there done it but wouldnt go back. Spanish people visit the hotel for 4days and take over so you got to fight for a sun bed and seat for the night time entertainment. "

"A friend and I stayed at this hotel in October 2011. The staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment was great for a three star hotel...we even had a bidet in the bathroom. The rooms had everything you could need...beds, phone, tv cupboards for clothes. the rooms were not without fault...No lock on the toilet door, but pretty good. The food was amazing and constant. There was so much choice for everyone...healthy options, wine, fruit, the fish was unbelievably good. There was no problem finding a lounger by the swimming pool...the water was freezing in the pool...until you got used to it. The hotel is located close to the beach and Puerto Banus. It is good for travelling to Gibralta or Fuengirola...the bus stop is a short walk away. The town of San Pedro was amazing...whilst we were there it was having it's annual fiesta, which means that roads were closed and there was continual partying for the whole week. The views of the mountains are stunning and provide a fantastic backdrop whereever you are on the coast. The free local lager was San Miguel. It did rain hard towards the end of the holiday, but the hotel catered excellently for our needs. Children loved the entertainment which was provided nightly, unfortunately the adult entertainment wasn't very good, but there was so much to do, that we didn't mind. Definitely worth every penny of the all inclusive price! Will go again soon! "

Good value for money
"Easy to find, clean and tidy, beautiful gardens. LOvely banana trees and arches of flowers. Staff constantly cleaning. Entertainment for children although mine were grown up. Excellent, friendly staff, especially if you tried to speak a little Spanish. Good food. Many varied dishes not all burger and chips like some places. Food seemed to be served all day and plentiful choices of alcohol on the all inclusive deal. Even cocktails were included in the price. Only a deposit required for tennis, we managed to lose one ball but stilll got our deposit back, no problems at all. Parking available for our hire car, free buses to local places we didn't use. Only thing letting the place down were the clientele from Northern Britain, otherwise excellent."

beautiful but isolated
"This hotel is very beautiful and typically spanish. It is really clean and gardens are very well ept with retty flowers all around. Rooms are basic but clean and maids come every day.The food definately let the hotel down. We went with an open mind but it was very repetative, breakfast was nice but the rest of the meals were not good really. The area was quite with no strip as such and only 2 shops that sell papers sweets snacks and small gifts. Ther is a supermarket 2 mins walk away. The beach is a goo 15 min walk when you come ot of hotel turn right. we went once and was very disapponted it was very shaley and edge of the sea there were loads of rough stones that really hur when you stood on them. Also there wasnt much there just restaurants again no shops. the hotel provides a daily bus t puerto benus itleaves at 10.30 and is ree which is great. You can only come ack at 12.30 o 6.30 though so... Its worth a visit for shopping but not as good made out. We went to gibralter , we made our own way there it is 5 euro each way on the bus then if you walk o te rock and get a tour mini bus its about £20 each for the tour and its ell worth it monkeys are fab!!! I LOVE IT..........
"I have stayed at this hotel for years, and absolutely love it! The last two years as a family we decided to have a change, as we have been going there for the last 8 holidays, but we are going to be going there again next year- and I can't wait! The staff are fantastic- very friendly. The entertainment is very very good, and caters for everyone. The hotel provides it's own kids club, my kids love going, they win certificates and medals for each activity. And there are also activities for us adults- my husband and I didn't join in with these until the last couple of holidays, and really enjoyed it,meeting lots of new friends. For me, the food is great, unless you are a fussy eater, and always plenty of room to eat in the restaurants. The beach is about a 10 min walk, but I hate sand so never go. You can walk along the beach to Puerto Banus in about 15-20 mins too. At the end of the day, I think this hotel is like marmite- you either love it or hate it, but it is much nicer than any high rise- it is quaint and gives you all you need for an All-inclusive holiday- you get exactly what you pay for in my opinion, a 3*, so be realistic with your expectations! Don't go there if you think you are staying in anything more than that. I have also booked a girly holiday there next year- a fanatastic base to go to Puerto Banus for the night life!!"
