4 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
beautiful apartments - But
"Booked a last minute break with Marbella Options - accomodation only, on a Monday and flew out 2 days later. Not therefore surprised to pay 1500 Euros for a 7 night stay. As previous reviews have stated the apartments are large and spacious and well equipped. Our first apartment (Palermo 1) was like a cavern in which we needed to have the lights on at all times of the day. The terrace saw no sunshine at all. Also the stairwell runs directly above the apartment and is marble so you can hear every foot step and as many people in Spain eat late at night we were frequently woken up at 2 or 3 in the morning. We were moved without any hassle to a further ground floor apartment in Roma 1 which is in a quieter part of the complex. However the overall sound proofing in the apartments is appalling. Potential travellers should also note that the main reception closed at midnight. There is a 24 hour concierge, who however ,speaks very little English so trying to communicate any problems regarding parties in the above apartment were difficult. On balance the location of the Vasari is superb and the spacious apartments are a welcome break from the confinements of hotel rooms when travelling with teenagers! However I would recommend any visitors to take an apartment on the upper floors in order to get some holiday sleep."

"As previously stated, these are wonderful apartments in a well maintained complex, the staff were extremely helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into Puerto Banus and it is along a busy main road so do take care when crossing( zebra crossings seem to be optional for drivers to stop We preferred to sunbathe on the beach as the pool area felt quite claustrophobic with lots of loud children shouting and screaming, sorry parents but would be nice if the volume could be kept down, don`t particularly want to hear a football being bounced continuously whilst parents ignore their little darlings...seems to be a British phenomenon as the Spanish children were well behaved. Rant over, there is lovely walk to Marbella and the old town is definitely worth a visit, choice of restaurants excellent. Puerto Banus fabulous for people watching and the obscene displays of wealth, chav culture alive and well with Burberry, Roberto Cavalli and Versace....the old adage that money certainly cannot buy good taste......Would return to the Vasari Apartments again but maybe give school holidays a miss!!!! Enjoy...."

Good value apartments
"We stayed here for four nights in a 2 bedroom duplex penthouse apartment.
The Vasari resort is on the La Alzambra residential development and has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom serviced apartments clustered in 2 storey buildings around swimming pool. Lush, very manicured gardens with lawned areas and large pool (pool isn't heated so bit chilly for children in early season). Pool bar/snack bar and jacuzzi pool. Another pool outside restaurant.
Good restaurant and spa (huge indoor jacuzzi pool, plunge pool, sauna and steam room) large gym on same complex but be aware reception/restuarant/spa are all in different buildings and depending on which building you're staying in you might have a bit of a walk to get to them.
You can order food from restaurant to eat in apartment although there was no menu in our aparment to choose from.
Very well equipped apartments with large fridge freezer, hob, full oven, washing machine (flooded laundry area when I used it), cleaning materials (but no washing up liquid) all crockery, utensils, cutlery (no microwave) so excellent for self catering and families.
Personally I wouldn't describe them as 5 star standard - too many little things that disappointed like pool area littered with dirty towels and empty glasses with no-one paying any attention to clearing them up etc but excellent value for money and very good 4 star standard
One gripe was in our 2 bed duplex apartment (supposedly penthouse..) we had lots of outside terrace space but hardly any terrace furniture - there was an outside dining table and four dining chairs but only one sun lounger on second bedroom terrace and only one small table and one chair on main bedroom terrace - this meant the four of us couldn't enjoy the outside space together. We asked for more terrace furniture and only got an extra dining chair which we didn't need! No-one followed up to see if we were happy with this - staff were very friendly but lacked going that extra mile which would take this accommodation up a notch or two.
Apartment was a bit smelly when we arrived but I think this was because it hadn't been aired properly. And the kettle seemed to have been cleaned with something like floral disinfectant which tainted all our hot drinks - after boiling about 10 kettles full of water I still couldn't get rid of the taste!
A lot of the ground floor apartment terraces didn't get any sun at all during the day. We stayed in Palermo Apt 9 (2nd floor) and you could follow the sun all day on various terraces.
Apartments are cleaned daily and towels changed, beds made etc. Pool towels can be hired for returnable deposit of 10 euros.
It is a good 15 minute walk into town along a busy stretch of road with one worrying crossing point where the motorway slip road comes in and there's no pedestrian crossing - but it is manageable
On the whole though it was excellent value for money and far better than staying in hotel room especially if you've children with you.
Shopping - go to El Corte Ingles - absolutely everything you could possibly need - fantastic department store and a vast Hipercor supermarket on the ground floor. There's an Opencor supermarket just opposite the La Alzambra entrance which is open 24 hours a day but take note they will NOT sell any alcohol after 10pm.
P.S My favourite restaurant has to be Pravda just at the start of the main drag in the marina - gorgeous food, funky lively atmosphere, beautifully decorated and good mix of people"

Vasari resort with kids
"Have recently returned from a week at the Vasari Resort and Spa with 2 small children, 3 & 1. Quality of the accommodation was excellent. We had a 2-bedroom penthouse apartment which was exceptionally well equipped - DVD and CD player being the most popular and well used items - also iron & board, mop, all kitchen utensils you could need - only exception being microwave - sometimes useful for heating baby food. Aparment was spotless when we arrived and cleaned daily. THe surrounding grounds and pool were also lovely - although the pool was not heated and unless the sun was out, was too cold for us!
The resort is an easy 15 minute walk into P.B., although all up-hill on the way out, so might take a bit longer, there is also a small play park just around the corner from the front gate which kept our 2 happy for a while.
We only used the retaurant once for buffet lunch on our departure day. Food was good - mostly salad-type food for 15 Euros p.p Only complaint was that they charged 7 Euro each for 2 kids, who really ate very little.
Otherwise excellent accomodation in good, quiet residential area if you don't mind a bit of a walk."
