Romantic hotel, great for couples
"We chose this hotel after reading multiple reviews on other hotels in Marbella and this hotel had the most positive reviews although since we booked it, the odd slightly negative review has crept in from other travellers. The hotel grounds are beautiful and there are lots of areas to sit and relax with comfy sofas and chairs. The highlight for us was the double sun loungers with a four poster type canopy on top. This was so romantic and we got up early every morning to make sure we got one of them! It makes all the difference when you can sunbathe next to your partner rather than on separate sun beds! The breakfast was great and cost 15 euros. It is actually the same price whether you book it in advance or when you arrive. There was a good selection of fruit salad and a lady making fresh omelettes. The fruit juices (orange, pineapple and peach) were delicious and very freshly squeezed. Evening meal in the hotel is 25 euros and again is the same whether you book it in advance or when you arrive. It was very quiet but the food was good, a nice selection of buffet salads and desserts and a chef making fresh meat or fish while you waited. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious and felt very new. There are interesting pieces of art throughout the hotel and in the bedrooms. We went to Marbella once by the local bus which comes three times an hour and only costs 1 euro each way. We also took a taxi into Puerto Banus which cost 21 euros. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful and quiet romantic break."

A pleasant hotel without real character
"Just back from Estrella Del Mar where I stayed for a few days with my wife.
The hotel is very clean, and was very peaceful apart from some drilling noise in a property adjacent to the middle swimming pool - not the hotel's fault admittedly, but not an ideal situation. This did seem to quieten down next day and I think the hotel may have spoken to the builders to rectify the situation. The swimming pools are nice - on three levels - and some have covered two people beds which are both beautiful and romantic.
I found the hotel staff very friendly and polite, and most spoke a number of languages. Price are about what you would expect in a five star hotel, although we felt that some of those little "extras" that you sometimes receive at a great hotel as a matter of good service were lacking - e.g. jugs of water brought to you around pool to keep you hydrated, fresh fruit at turn down etc etc. We did get some free potato chips with our drinks, but it seemed a bit of an afterthought.
We used the room service a lot - continental breakfast was decent, if a bit variable. We also ordered sandwiches on one occasion which arrived wrapped in clingfilm to keep them warm - thus making presentation a bit poor. The sandwiches were, however, really appetising.
Our room was on the North East corner of the hotel with a very small balcony (no room to sit) and a fairly poor view to be honest. That said, the room itself was very nice - good sized bed, excellent linen, and a lovely lovely bathroom with double ended bath, walk in shower etc etc.
A bit about the location - the hotel is situated in Elviera, about 7km to the East of Marbella. There is a bus service that runs down the A7 road, but it is hourly, so you are reliant on taxis if you do not have a car - a taxi into the old town was about 15 euros. The beach near the hotel is nice, and there is a quanit little restaurant (Los Banderas) situated close to the hotel. The rest of Elviera is the opposite side of the dual carriageway and is a bit of a pain to reach, but there is a pharmacy and a few restaurants although we didnt try any.
All in all - a nice new hotel, tastefully decorated, that will hopefully develop more character in time."

Great hotel but not 5 star service
"We went for a long weekend, partly attracted by the excellent price but also the good reviews weâd read.
We arrived Friday afternoon at 3.15pm and were told the room would be ready in 10 minutes. After waiting for about 10 minutes we were taken to the lovely covered terrace with views over the pools and gardens and told we would be brought complimentary drinks shortly. Half an hour later no one had appeared! It was lovely and relaxing sitting on the terrace (when our drinks finally arrived after waiting 40 minutes) but of course we wanted to be into our room. We were finally in our room at about 4.30pm and it did live up to expectations. We were on the ground floor (room 27), next to one of the main pools with a private terrace area with sun beds as well as table & chairs. The room was spacious with a large bed (two singles joined together) large desk, sofa bed, mini-bar etc. There were some English TV channels and best of all (for us anyway) free wired hi-speed internet access. The bathroom was lovely with a separate shower cubicle, another cubicle with toilet & bidet and the main area with large bath tub and double sinks.
In general the service and staff were very good, BUT on Sunday we were let down again by the room cleaning service this time. A cleaner had knocked at our door twice at about 10am and 10.30. The room did not have a âdo not disturbâ notice we could have used and mistakenly thought as it was high tech they somehow knew when you were out of your room! Anyway we left the hotel at about 11am and returned at 3.30pm only to discover that the room had not been prepared. On visiting reception to complain we were told that they had been busy as 50% of guests had departed that day, although they did immediately send a cleaner.
Perhaps we were just unlucky but it did feel that as a new guest we were not given priority when we checked in and then as a guest in residence we were also not given priority over preparing rooms ready for new clients.
The hotel is about 10kms out of Marbella centre, but we discovered there are plenty of good restaurants within about 15 minute walk of the hotel, albeit you have to walk alongside the very busy coastal main road; but there are pedestrian bridges and an underpass so that overcomes any problems.
We ate at the Rosmarino della Piazza located within the Centro Commercial Pinares de Elviria, which is less than 1km from the hotel towards Fuengirola. It was an excellent upmarket Italian/international. The clientele were also very international! It costs at least 50 Euros per person for 3 courses, excluding wine. Within this commercial centre there was a steak restaurant/Asian restaurant and another Italian (pasta & pizza). Next door to this commercial centre was another where there were even more cafes and bars and some restaurants including English food, Lebanese and Japanese to name a few. Even closer to the hotel there are a number of other restaurants and beach bars where breakfast and snacks can be ordered.
Overall it was a very relaxing experience in a lovely hotel, but slightly marred by the incidents mentioned above."

great place to chill
"Its difficult to be negative about this place but I will try!
Its modern with Moorish tones. Clean, pretty, nice spacious rooms and mostly excellent service. We had a great time.
What's not so good? Location is a bit iffy. Turn left and you can walk to a beach well supplied with bars and places to lunch but turn right out of the drive and its a little threatening at least at night. Taxis are expensive so a car is a good idea. The buffet breakfast was average- the "hot" offerings were distinctly cool. The evening buffet was good value at 25Euros but lacked a sense of occasion.
The pool area is cleverly designed- three on different levels which enhanced a sense of calm. The water was certainly refreshing on a cool day but a little heating would not have gone amiss.
If you want quietness, peace and a good place to read a book in the Sun then you will not be disappointed; I'm sure we will return."

Excellent hotel - great service!
"My husband and I have just returned after a 3- night stay. We found the hotel by searching on the web, and then read the reviews on TripAdvisor. It really is a beautiful new 5-star hotel - built on a Moorish-theme, with sophisticated & modern decor . Bedrooms are spacious, with a gorgeous bathroom (double-sink, walk-in shower cubicle, oval bath) ... OK, they don't provide a turn-down service that a lot of 5-stars offer but if you want clean towels in the evening all you have to do is ask for them - staff are very friendly and obliging. A lovely stretch of beach is just a 2 mins walk away. A few mins in the car will take you to some nice places to eat - reception recommended a great Italian only 5-10 mins away (Da Bruno in Cabopino - great food and excellent service too). Would highly recommend this hotel."

WOW ,Heaven on Earth,we want to go back NOW !!!!!
"We have just returned from a four night break at this fab hotel.we were met with champagne and canapes. Our room was brill with a lovely sea view. The Breakfast had everything you would wish for and room service was excellent .All the staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough for you.we were very lucky that the hotel wasi quiet and we virtually had it to ourselves. The grounds were imaculate we even managed a swim even though without a heated pool the water was a tad chilly. But the weather was great while we were there,so we didnt get to use the spa facilities,we couldnt drag ourselves off the double sunbed due to the comfy cushions and pool side location .All in all we had a ball if you are looking for a total chill and a relax in an ideal location 3 mins walk from the beach ,very attentative staff and classical piped music while you take a bath .This is the place for you .While we were there we visited marbella and also mijas we took a taxi to both but got the bus back which was a very easy and much cheaper way of getting about If you can go there ASAP do before everyone else finds this Wonderful Hidden Gem!!!!!."

modern and clean
"stayed one night in this recently opened 5 star hotel. room had sea view, large and everything you expect. bathroom has bath large enough for two and separate shower. the offer also had a session in the private hamman - fun with your other half. breakfast was comprehensive, though nothing special. grounds include large pools and next to beach. should prove to be popular in their first summer season"

"Having received a very good offer celebrating the opening of this hotel from the Vincci chain and checking the Marbella weather for the next 4 days we decided to give it a shot.
Location wise the hotel is close to the Elviria turn off on the Autovia for those that know the Marbella area so about 5kms short of Marbella old town and a 15 minute drive from Puerto Banus. For those that really know the area it's about 300 metres along the beach from the lovely 'Beach House' restaurant though the hotel is actually about 200 metres back from the beach.
So the hotel itself is done out in an Arabian style and is only 3/4 stories high to be in keeping with its surrounding. We were given a glass of champagne when we arrived and a fruit platter, nice touches usually only seen, at least in my experience in Asia. Our room, a standard room as far as im aware was very nice. Flat screen TV but only CNN as an English speaking channel, a decent sized balcony and huge bathroom with bath easily big enough for two and a very decent shower. My only complaint here was that the bed was actually two singles put together and was made up as so, again not sure if this is standard through the hotel.
The pool area was very nice also, there were 3 pools all at a different height in front of the hotel though only two were open when we were there, the one with the pool bar was closed so can't comment on this. They have balinese beds (four posters with a roof) scattered around, these were very nice though for some reason they only made up 4 of the 6 available. Can imagine these will be nabbed pretty early during the summer months. There were two villas being built opposite the pool area, occasionally there was some nice but nothing we really noticed and I would imagine these will be well finished by the time next season rolls around.
The staff were all very sweet, not quite up to 5-star levels but what they might have lacked in efficiency or command of English they made up for in politeness and im sure given a few months this will all improve.
Lastly we didn't try the restaurants except to be told that there was no room service available after 11pm when we came in hungry one evening, again not sure if this is the norm or due to the recent opening. Had a bad experience at the Chiringito at the bottom of the hill, the manager was amazingly rude after we waited 20mins for our bill we decided to leave cash on the table (with a tip after working it out), he then chased after us as we left telling us we hadnt paid the bill and when I told him we were fed up of waiting and it was on the table he responded 'are you sure?'. We never went back there obviously. Do try the BeachHouse for dinner though, always a decent meal.
Anyway, I hope this is helpful to some."

"We stayed one week at Estrella dell mar. The hotel opened the week before. We had great time. I love the hotel view on the closeby sea. Its so quiet located and I enjoyed sleeping with the window open, you ven can hear the sea. The room is spacious, well epuied and ncie bath room. Staff was very helpful. Just one minor remark.... breakfast wasn't special. The swimming pool area is very nice. Breakfats i served on the terrace until 11 AM. The hotel has a undergound parking at 18 euro a day. But we parked outside on the hotel grounds, also nearby streets offer parking possibility. You need a car to got to marbella town or peurtoe banus. There is a nice beach club at 100M from the hotel. Teh hotel is located between el rosarioa and elviria. You can see the don carlos from the hotel. We go every year one week to Marbella is this is one of my farvorits (I prefer it over Los Monteros, Incosol, Guadalpin, Gualdapin Banus, NH Alanda, Coral beahc) and even the don carlos). my favorite hotel is still the Puente Romano for ist location ,breakfast, gardens, beach club. However comapred to the estrella del mar Puente romano is evry pricy and rooms are bit older. we come back."
