A Little Christmas Cracker
" Christmas Cracker My husband and I went for 4 days over the Christmas, the room, was fabulous with a sea view .The hotel was clean and the staff really friendly and I had a job trying to use my Spanish as they all wanted to talk to us in English. The Christmas day and Boxing day food was fantastic, ( no xmas puddings or mince pies ) but if you want that bring it with you. The wine and cava and bottled water was free on both nights and flowed you only had to ask for more. I enjoyed the food you always had a choice of meat and fish dish with veg, we went full board and we ate in everytime. The drinks are priced about the same as you pay in the bars, the only downside was the puddings. I have a sweet tooth and love rice pudding we had rice pudding ,custard, icecream and yogurt every night except for the Xmas and Boxing day we had chocolate gateau. Apple or other fruit pies with custard would have gone down a treat. Many great eating places so I did get pudding outside so maybe half board option would have been better for us, Also the full board( does not include wine ,beer and water or soft drinks ) Also tea and coffe machine for breakfast would have been nice after evening meals. We did have the Xmas/Boxing day treat, plus a little goody bag of sweets from Santa. The crowd as other 's have mentioned are mainly elderly Spanish, and we had a ball with them, they can part- ty ballroom style and very very friendly indeed. The young lady that did the entertainment spoke English , French and Spainish. We did not visit the Spa bit, the pool looked really inviting, 2 little toddlers even had a dip the weather was great but the water must have been cold. We are both in our early fifties, and felt like teeny boppers, it was a great fun. We had Xmas carols in Spanish and a few English ones in English, bingo, and we had a ball. Great little hotel, Great food, Great location, Fantastic Staff, and Fantastic location."

"A very noisy hotel from 8:30am everyday without fail - the scraping of furniture across the floor doors slamming, most spanish going down for breakfast as loud as they can get, the food was very basic - the only food you could eat was the food you cant go wrong with like fruit and yoghurts and salad - last year i stayed at the arcosur pricipea spa round the corner which was gorgeous, this time round very dissapointed and everything had a cost or charge to it."

Bring some ear muffs
"We booked the Balmoral because it was still relatively cheap, and pretty much found comments made by other reviewers spot on. Firstly, it is very clean. Apart from a random bug I found roaming around the bathroom one day I couldn't fault it at all. Staff were helpful if not over-enthusiastic. Food: Uninspriring to say the least but then I'll eat anything anyway. They provided us with a cold meal even though we arrived at 11pm the first day which was good of them. Most days the menu was the same, a choice of chicken or fish dish (always hake), some over-boiled veg and 3 different types of potato (they must really love potato). The salads were more agreeable, sweets were non-existant most days. The room was tiny. With 2 adult beds and an extra bed for our daughter, there was no room left whatsoever to move about. The TV or air conditioning didn't work, I assume you have to rent a remote from reception if you want these. The shower was nice and powerful at least. On the down side, the hotel was 99% Spanish OAPs, and the noise they make when gathered in large groups is unbelievable. We learned to get to the resteraunt early, because they tend to eat late and once it fills up (to the point where you will struggle to get a table if you arrive late), you literally cannot hear yourself think. Again the bar area when busy is not a comfortable place to be. Entertainment consisted of ballroom dancing for abovementioned 99%, so if you don't like that, go to other hotels (the Bali is a lot of fun). One night we hung around for the bingo, another (!!!) English family asked if she would be reading the numbers in English, and were told no, Spanish and Frensh only, so we got up to go somewhere else. She then proceeded to stop us in the middle of the room and give a great long rambling explanation why she wasn't doing it in english, in english, into the microphone, while we stood there like lemons wanting to leave. Swallow and hole were the only things going around in my mind. tl;dr - Nice and clean, won't be everyone's cup of tea."

Excellent Hotel & Good Value
"Stayed here a couple of times over the last 2 years and am thinking of going back again soon. Pool area lovely, hotel very clean, room very clean, towels changed daily, staff pleasant and helpful. Quiet location. My comments on reading some reviews on this site: Yes there were a lot of spanish people but its was there holiday season and what better way to practise your spanish and mingle with the locals??? After all - you are in Spain! Hotel is excellent value for money and right by the beach and if you don't fancy the meals they're serving, MacDonalds is close by as are lots of other restaurants. "

"Hotel in good location on the level, suitable for older people and families alike, Very clean both room and hotel, pool cleaned every morning, a buffet style dinner with a large variety of food, breakfast equally as good, staff pleasant and helpful a problem with shower rectified within the hour, this was only a two star Hotel but should be of a higher grade. Bus stops a short distance away and cheap, the main town centre is steep uphill and transport would be advised especially for seniors."

"The staff were surly and unhelpful, catered mostly for elderly Spanish people wish we had been told. The food was absolutely dreadful, the waiters put a big trolley in the middle of the dining room in which the slops were tipped into. The jug of wine we bought tasted like it had been watered down, I could go on and on, sufficient to say I would'nt stay again and wouldn't recommend it at all DON'T BOOK THE BALMORAL"

"This hotel is swarming with Spanish people. The food was definitely the let down for this hotel the taste was definitely for the Spanish, they had fish on for every meal, the breakfasts were the same every day. The only thing i could bare to eat was the salads. This is the only holiday i have ever been on and lost weight. My boyfriend refused to eat anything except the yogurts. No English based foods. The pool was clean and tidy no complaints there. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard every day and the reception area was spotless. The reception staff don't really understand English and kept having to repeat my self to numerous people till some one understood what i was trying to say. There is only one lift in the hotel. I was on the 5th floor and couldn't get in a lift due to the Spanish using it to get to the 1st floor so i walked 10 flights of stairs to get to my room every time i went out. I would definitely not advise any one with children to visit the hotel as it has nothing for children to do there. i would not visit this hotel again."

Very nice, clean hotel and cheap too
"Stayed here last year and going again this year. Great location - room overlooked the pooled area & had sea views. Great for all amenities and a lovely walk along the sea-front at night. Food - a bit basic but there was plenty of it...lovely salad, chips and/.or potatoes, meat & fish dishes. Bar area again clean and tidy. Pool is lifeguarded. Hotel couldn't be cleaner if it tried. Lots of Spanish staying there, all very nice, and got chance to practise our spanish! Can't wait to go again."
