22 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"We took the opportunity of a late booking offer with our favorite travel agent and this hotel was recommended. The resort is very good though shopping is limited to the Port area some distance from the hotel and we felt a little isolated. A clean, well maintained hotel with friendly staff who were courteous - especially Juan who was very pleasant. A good meal offer in the dining hall, if a little repetitive. The only negative was a very limited entertainment offer both day and night and all delivered in Spanish leaving almost half the holiday makers isolated. I would visit the resort again but possibly not this hotel. "

Look for somewhere else to stay.
"Definitely not a 4 star hotel...2 maybe 3 at most. The rooms were clean but the air conditioning was poor and the balcony doors have cut off point,so make sure the balcony doors are closed, but this was not explained properly. The pool is too small and social areas very limited and the entertainment was very poor. They say they have a no towel reservation policy but that is not true as towels are everywhere early on. The beach down the hill is probably the best option as it has more activities but expensive. Walk around the front to miss the hill going back. The food was ok for breakfast but try and miss the rush. Simple foods. The bar area was more like a canteen and not a 4 star hotel, with kids running everywhere at all hours. Nothing adult for anyone. All in all very poor and would be best to give it a miss."

health warning & wheelchair access
"We stayed at the hotel best benalmedena september 23 2010 and watched aghast as the chef picked up handfulls of raw chicken placed them on the skillet and directly started to slice the roast beef that was brought from the kitchen without washing his hands. We also had a friend in a wheelchair, the hotel was ideal for the disabled.Sadly it's located at the top of a slope with difficult access. The breakfast sadly was a groundhog day of beacon egg and beans. "

Book somewhere else
"We read the reviews after we had booked and it said "Don't Go". It can't be that bad we thought, but it was. This was probably the worst All Inclusive Hotel we have been to. You have to sign for every drink you have, which takes an age. If you abuse the all inclusive facility you will have it taken away. We got caught the first night and had to pay a supplement for a bottle of coke, always ask for coke from the machine! There is only one bar, which in fact is just the cafe situated next to the pool. Takes for ever to get served. The pool was no bigger than a back garden and there is no beach, just rocks. The food was only average. There was only one other English family at the whole hotel and their children were counting down the days to go home!!! The whole place was very "kiss me quick" and the shops very tacky. The bedrooms were acceptable but the beds were so uncomfortable. The hotel is situated on a dual carriageway and if you are unfortunate enough to be facing it - it is very noisy. No way was this a 4 star hotel. It was a very very disappointing holiday, which wasn't even cheap. A place we would never go again."

"We stayed for 1 week in the Best Benalmadena, excellent hotel, very good food, room air con, carpeted, good shower, fridge, room cleaned every day with a change of towels every day. The only down side is the beach is rocky and unable to swim, pool a little too small for the size of the hotel. Overhaul we were very very pleased - a very comfortable stay."

benalmadena best hotel
"We stayed here for two weeks, lovely location but a bit out of centre although there was a very good bus service from right outside the hotel. the hotel was clean & the food was good but dont really think its a 4 star just certain touches missing & the outside of the hotel is in need of some updating. the staff on the whole were very good but the biggest downside was it was mainly geared up to accomadate spanish & all the entertainment was in spanish, if we had been informed of this when booking we wouldnt have gone. "we arrived back on 18 may 09 are holiday was on an all inclusive basis, hotel next to beach we had fab room over looking sea, room size large with two 3 quarter beds and decorated nice and are very well insulated and fully carpeted, food of a good standard with plenty of choice on a/i you have soft drinks, beer, and bottles of wine with your meal, hotel as about 65% spanish 20% german 15% british but still fine, entertainment mostly spanish you will have to queue for drinks on night and some times you can get branded drinks pool area very clean and plenty of sun beds"

We've been all around the world, so have...
"We've been all around the world, so have lots of comparisons. For £600 total for the two of us on an all-inclusive ticket at a 4* hotel, you cannot beat it. I cannot fault the staff, the food, the amenities, everything. It was absolutely wonderful! I would recommend it to anyone!"

"Just returned from the costa just had to say that we stayed in the best belemedena hotel and was really pleased with the hotel. the rooms were very spacious with great views, many overlooking the sea. we stayed as an all inclusive option, which we found to be reaaly good. the food was great and with plenty of choice. the staff were very welcoming throughout our stay. the only downside was that the entertainment could have been better, i would recommend this hotel to couples and families alike."

3 STAR POSING AS 4 STAR
"Our room was of a good standard for a 4 star hotel with 2 huge beds and well decorated. The bathroom was also good. What let this hotel down was the main road which runs alongside the hotel and was very busy all through the night. The restaurant was very poor. Breakfast was the best meal of the day and we had litle complaint of this but the evening meal was definitely of a 3 star rating. The food was generally the same each evening with the one choice of vegetable changing a couple of times during our stay. There was little or no choice on potato's as it was chips or more chips. Deserts were the same each evening. I found it very disappointing that the dining room chairs were all very badly stained and the pigeon's living on a ledge above the windows meant that if you had a window table you looked out onto pigeon mess. The hotel is very close to the beach which is great but the pool area is very small. Perhaps we were disappointed because it was the end of the season and the hotel was winding down but it should be classed as a good 3 star and not a 4 star."

first class room and view
"We stayed at the Best Benalmadena Hotel from Sept 11 2007 for one week. We enjoyed our holiday very much and in our opinion the hotel is a very good hotel. The room was huge with a wonderful sea view which I had requested and was cleaned nearly every day . All the staff were very helpful and pleasant and nearly all spoke english. The food was excellent and there was something different on the menu every night. The only complaint we had was there was only one bar, and that bar and room was where all the entertainment was held. There was no quiet corner where you could sit and just relax after your evening meal. There also did not seem to be any table service in the bar and the queues to get a drink were extremely long with sometimes only one serving. Other than this we found this hotel lovely. It has a lovely position on the beach and is situated at the quieter end of the resort which suited us. If you want the lively end it is only about a fifteen minute walk from the hotel. The marina however is quite a bit further. The taxi fare from the airport to the hotel was 22 euros, and the taxi ranks were very well organised."
