New Year in Tossa Quiet But Enjoyable
"We stayed in the Diana over New Year. Excellent hotel with unbelievably ornate and spacious public rooms. Bedroom (â¬66/night without sea view) was clean and spacey with large King Size bed and good sized bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
All car parking charges appear to have been suspended for the winter and we had no problems parking free accross the road on the beach front car park.
Tossa itself was fairly quiet over the New Year period, but there were 4 or 5 restaurants open most night and several bars were open. The Hotel Diana did not have it's bar / restaurant facilities open.
The weather was sunny and cloudless for our stay with daytime temperatures of 15/16 DegC which was ideal for local exploring and touring the district by car. The nights could get cool, but the rooms at the Hotel Diana are well heated."

Charm and Tranquility
"The Diana is a charming little hotel, in prime location in a pretty little seaside town.
We had visited the town of Tossa a couple of years back on a day trip, and were drawn to the Diana because of its striking facade. We asked to look inside and we knew then that we would return as guests one day.
The reception area and the the main public rooms are a delight to the eye with their stunning Modernista architecture and decor. The central internal patio is an oasis of calm and tranquility with superb Modernista tiling and mosaics.
Our room was great (lucky enough to have a great terrace) and the air condtioning worked!
You do not need a car in Tossa! If you have one, leave it on the outskirts of the town and forget about it until its time to move on!
This is hardly a criticism...but it was weird having all these passers-by coming into the hallway to look at the interior. Just as were thinking "what a nerve!" we remembered that's exactly how we discoved The Diana ouselves!"

"If you are a fan of 'Modernista' architecture, then you have really come to the right place. The lounges have been beautifully preserved, from the Gaudi designed fireplace to the intricate stained windows in the lounges through to the genteel courtyard where the pleasant buffet breakfast is served in the morning sunshine. The light and breezy bedrooms are of a generous size with tall windows and good size bathrooms, with some overlooking the sea and others looking over a square. The parking, as previous reviews rightly state, is a little inconvenient. The staff will direct you to their sister hotel, some 10 minutes walk away where you can safely park your car for 8 Euros a day. This is a preferable option, though, as the alternative is the nearby public car park which is 23 Euros a day. (Parking on the streets is virtually impossible) The hotel is located behind a cafe of the same name as the hotel right on the sea front and it backs onto a small square within the shopping area.
In summary, I would say this is a great value option for those without a car, want to be in the centre of things, and have a love of architecture."

Quaint Lovely Hotel
"We loved our stay in Tossa and loved Hotel Diana. As far as we could see it was the best located hotel in Tossa and had old-world charm. Gorgeous old antique interios on the first floor. We had a great "superior room" overlooking the "best ever" beach with a nice balcony. Very clean, nice bathroom, new furniture, very nice staff. We closed our interior doors at night and didn't hear a thing from the street. Breakfasts were great! Parking wasn't ideal, when we arrived there were hundreds of people walking on the streets to the hotel, we parked in front of the hotel and dropped off our luggage and then drove to the secure parking lot about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We didn't mind the walk, it was 7 euros a day for parking. Tossa itself is great, great restaurants and shopping. Great beaches and clear beautiful water. Very romantic. Will go back!!"

"The hotel looks great and it is very well located.
- You will be charged 7 Euros a day for a parking that is quite far away
- Rooms with view on the small plaza are VERY noisy as is the whole hotel in general"

Great Location But Parking A Problem
"Positives: Location is excellent, overlooking the Sea and in the heart of the "old town". Rooms either overlook the Sea or the Square (cheaper). Room was fairly spacious for Spain. Has it's own restaurant & Tapas Bar overlooking the beach and reached by a connecting corridor. Real Spanish feel to the hotel - very different from some of the "sanitised" hotels in Spain. Breakfast included & good. Cost was Euro 75 square view in April 2005.
Negatives: Complimentary Parking is miles away - literally. Otherwise parking in car parks next to the beach at Euro 20 per 24 hours - horrendous cost. Parking is likely to be a real problem in the high season.
Overall - Excellent town, not like the overbuilt Costas, real Spanish feel, loads of bars / restaurants, good hotel - would stay again."

Charming old hotel
"Excellent location in resort town, directly accross street from nice beach. The beach has glass-bottomed boats that will take you into caves in the cliffs. The room had a nice balcony overlooking the Sea (not all rooms have balconies). The breakfast was better than most other hotels...whole pieces of fresh fruit, cereal, croissants, eggs, bacon, whole tomatoes. English speaking staff. Clean room. Good water pressure with adequate hot water. Charming old hotel."
