Overpriced, but nice view
"The staff are very friendly, the room had a nice view, but the price was too high for the quality of the room. Although the room was clean, the bathroom was very small, it was an older, small room and a bit uncomfortable to move around in. The room was also lacking proper curtains."

Wonderful place, wonderful stay.
"We spent 3 days in this quiet and wonderful hotel September.
The rooms are clean and nice, the breakfast (included) is really good (fresh bread and pastries every morning). The staff is extremely polite, the position of the hotel is unique and also the restaurant is excellent."

Cozy, great staff
"We just showed up in Tossa and called the hotel. The lady at the front desk was wonderful to deal with. The location of this property is perfect. We had the room with the balcony and it couldn't have been better, especially for the price. The walls are a bit thin, but hey, you're staying in a historical building so take it all in. Tossa is nice and this hotel is right in the middle of it."

Cap DâOr, a fine little hotel
"NEGATIVES: In general, the rooms are small, however this is Europe, where you expect this anyways, so this is not all that important for us. What we did not really like was that the bed was in need of a new mattress. It was springy and not terribly comfortable; however that being said, it did not prevent us from getting a good night sleep. We did not notice any of the morning noise that a previous reviewer mentioned, however we shut the windows at night and used the air conditioner.
POSITIVES: Overall, the positives far outweighed the negatives for this hotel. The location is superb. The hotel is located adjacent to the wall and entrance to the old city. It is also at the end of the beach, so we had a great view of the beach from our window, and we didnât have to go far to get to it. Many quality restaurants are within 100 meters of the hotel. Stick, mostly, to the fresh seafood, although the rabbit is great! Also, DO NOT GO TO any restaurant that offers pictures of the food.
Other positives were the presence of air conditioning and the recently installed FREE wireless internet access (WiFi). All of this, combined with a great price, I would stay at Hotel Cap DâOr again and would recommend it to anyone.
Tossa de Mar is a great location for a holiday. It is small enough to be intimate and romantic yet big enough to offer quality shopping, eating and other amenities. It is family friendly and good for couples. As I said, the food, especially fresh seafood, is great as long as you go to the right places (mostly opposite the main beach). Stay away from the restaurants that have photos of the food, in general, if they need to do that, itâs not that great."

Good but a little noisy
"We booked this hotel after reading the other reviews here. It is indeed in a great location right on the edge of the Vila Vela, and yards away from lots of lovely bars and restaurants. View from room was great. Negative points..very small room with very thin walls so you can hear your neighbours. Take some ear plugs or the vans making deliveries up to the Vila Vela at 5am will most likely wake you up!! Breakfast is fine, and it is lovely to sit out on the terrace overlooking the beach but did get a little repetitive after a few days - no choice available. Tossa itself is a a great destination with a good buzz and not too touristy."

"We were visiting Tossa de Mar for a couple of days before a wedding in Barcelona. We looked at some of the bigger hotels but eventually settled for quite the opposite.
Cap d'Or is a small 11-room hotel at the very end of the promenade. It is family run and simple. Only 2-star but that is a reflection on its simplicity rather than the comfort, cleanliness or helpful staff, all of which were highly satisfactory. The owner speaks perfect English and is very accommodating. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fine, fresh coffee and some pastries and breads. Little hotels like this need to be supported I feel as they provide a personal service sometimes missing from the big, chain hotels.
We'd definitely go back."

I will definitely return!
"This hotel is perfect if you are nothing looking for anything too pricey. It is a small, family run hotel and from the moment you check in they make you feel very welcome.
The hotel is situated on the beach front and is right outside the old city walls. Everything is close to hand.
I would recommend to arrive by Ferry into Tossa de Mar - in the Summer! The hotel is just off the beach and it beats travelling by bus any day! on our way home from Tossa de mar we got the Ferry as far as Santa Susanna 2, had a quick swim and got the train back into barcelona. The Train station is right on the beach so it is perfect."

Great place to stay
"My wife and I spent 2 nights here on our honeymoon, and it's a great little place to spend a few days. It's right on the beach, near the cool little shops, and right up on the old roman wall of the city. The room was small, there is no ac, but it was clean and the staff was very helpful. You get a free breakfast out on the sidewalk which is a nice way to start the day. I would diffently go back."

Lovely short break at the Cap d'Or
"Cap d'Or is a small family run hotel situated in the best part of town - practically built into the castle walls. Only stayed 10 - 11 May 2004 but we are going back with the kids for 3 days in August. The hotel is very clean, a little basic, but with the best views in town. The staff are very pleasant and couldn't have been more helpful. Unfortunately the beach car park was closed due to flooding (earlier heavy rains) and parking was problematic. Very quiet in May but all the restaurants were open and having been to Tossa before, we know that Minerva is pretty good, along with a couple of others quite close to the castle. Breakfast was quite basic, but lovely to be able to sit outside and look out over the bay (when it wasn't raining) ... hopefully we'll see lots of lovely sunshine in August."
