Good value for a week
"My partner and I stayed in the Hotel the week before Easter and bar for the rain it was great we had all inclusive so we had free drinks that was good because of the weather entertainment was first class bar for the disco he was not so good .food was great and plenty of it room was a bit small but not a problem .The beech was 30 yards away .Town was a short walk away and not over priced had a tour to Barcelona that was booked through the travel agent it was a waist of money . But the tour to Montserrat Monastery was fantastic and good value for money"

"Hi is me again just came back on 13 June once again had fabby time - lots due to Jaime in restaurant - food ok (have to say got bored a wee bit) - was disappointed at hotel cos had asked for garden room and got one directly facing the road however all noise died at 12 and we had good sleep! Once again I have to say have nothing to complain about! Except 1 thing - wish after breakfast you could get coffee in garden instead of waiting until 10 am can't see why they can't release machine! Otherwise for 3rd time had a terrific time and would recommend this hotel to all my friends xxxx"

Not So Good!
"I was very disappointed by the Royal Sun hotel.
Firstly, i work in the food industry. Standards did not seem to be adhered to, as food was left out for longer than 50 minutes and did not seem to be at a safe temperature. The drinks were not nice either, the cocktails disappointed with the addition of a sickly strawberry syrup to them all. The sangria did not have fruit in it, but instead ... tinned fruit cocktail!
The beds caused me and my friend to come out in a rash, we found them very itchy and the mattresses were very hard. There were no locks on the toilet doors.
The staff on reception were extremely rude, often walking away and ignoring us, or leaning over the counter in an aggressive way and arguing with us. When we used the reception phones, they cost roughly 20 euros for 10 minutes. This is twice as much as the phone booths outside, however there were no signs or meters indicating this.
Entertainment took place in a room which looked like the lounge of an old folks home, with hideous salmon pink curtains. With the hotels proximity to the beach, i'd expect something which exploits this more and allows guests to appreciate their environment.
Finally, in order to get to the hotel, you have to cross a busy railway line. This is dangerous especially for families with small children.
I will not be staying at this hotel again, and do not know how they managed to get such a high rating!"

"Just back after 2 week holiday. The hotel is spotless and the staff are friendly. The hotel is situated right on the beach with lots of eating and drinking places only a few yards away. If i had to have complaints it would be the food which was very much the same every day :chicken, fish, veal,: lots of salad available and there was also a kids menu. All taken into consideration I would definatly go back."

Nothing wrong with the hotel
"Stayed at this hotel with my hubby for a week in April, glad we had some sun for 4 days or we would have been bored to tears.
The hotel was fine, rooms cleaned every day, food was ok although you got a lot of the same thing each night.
In the end we tended not to go for lunch and dinner just went for a snack inbetween times.
Be aware that when the coach drops you off and picks you up it does so across the road which can be a pain if you have children and cases to lug about. Its a bit of way, across the road, under the railway, don't know why they cant drop off infront of the hotel other coach's do!!!!!!
Met some nice people in the "smoke room" if you don't smoke don't go in it's a bit grim. If you do smoke it's the only place you can apart from outside.
The staff where ok, did,nt feel we got tret any different being all inclusive by the bar staff which i expected after reading some of the reviews.
If you want to go out for the day book a packed lunch at reception the day before, the train station is only down the road. When you buy your ticket you have to put it in the little ticket box on the station platform to register it!!!!
If you want to eat in other TOP hotels you can do but you have to book at your reception the day before, although you can drink in them using your All Inclusive id card (which has your photo on, they take it when you get there, not good when you have been traveling for 8 hours).
If you want a cheep holiday that is relaxing and right on the beach go for it. You get what you pay for."

Still First Class
"I've just come back from my second visit to the Royal Sun and I can't wait for my third on 6 June! As per my previous review everything about the hotel was first class. It was spotlessly clean, the food was good and plentiful, the staff were friendly and helpful and the weather was perfect. My only disappointment was that as we were early in the season the tables and chairs were not out in the garden area and the poolside bar wasn't open - that's what we get for going in April - roll on June!
When we arrived there was a mistake with our booking in that they had allocated a double room for my mother and me instead of two singles. It took all of 2 minutes to rectify this and we both had lovely rooms with views over the sea.
Once again, I have nothing at all to complain about and can't wait to return."

Hotel was fine.
"This is a pleasant hotel. Staff were very friendly and nice. Food was very good. Fresh and good choice.
Location was right on the beach. Beach was shingles and very sore underfoot.
I dont think the hotel is 4 star for no other reason than the hotel rooms. They are very basic, no kettle and a very small fridge that barely holds a pint of milk. The beds were pretty incomfortable and the TV channels were no existent.
The weather was very much against us but the staff made our stay as pleasant as possible (unlike the football team who stayed the whole week we were there. is it any wonder british tourists get a bad reputation when abroad)."

A Pleasant surprise
"Having read some of the previous comments, we went there with a fair bit of trepedition. Upon arrival, we were shown into the reception area. Agree with previous comments here - Anna with the red rimmed glasses is definately the friendliest!! This was clean, expansive and pleasantly furnished. There are two lifts which go up and down between the reception area and one to the basement where the restaurant is housed. I was travelling with my partner at the beginning of the season as a surprise birthday present! Given the time that we went, the pools were too cold to attempt swimming in - although others in the hotel had a good go!
The beach is man made and a mixture between sand and shingle. As a result it doesn't naturally fade into the sea, but more drops!
The food was typical spanish trying to be british in the mornings with cereal, rolls, jam and a passable fryup. We were only HB so can't comment on lunch. Out of the 3 nights that we spent there, we ate in the hotel 1ce in the evening. This was mainly because the cuisine wasn't good. It was edible, but in some ways quite bizarre - the rice pudding and chips were ok though!
In the rooms, we had 2 x twin beds, 3 x wardrobes, ensuite, a side balcony with a view of the beach and sea and a telephone. In the bathroom, we were provided with complementary toiletries.
The resort of Santa Susanna is somewhat behind the rest of the Costas in that it still houses the 90's style disco's. Beware of touts trying to tempt you in as you walk down the main drag! If you go right out of the hotel and continue to walk into the next resort, do try out the pizzarias, there's one just past the swan which serves an excellent rasberry sangra! If you go left, you can walk to the train station where you can catch the train into Barcelona for a very reasonable price.
In the evenings, the hotel aims to put on a form of entertainment each night. Drinks can be expensive - especially if you're drinking spirits, so i'd advise going to one of the supemarket's across the road and buying your own. There's also a fridge in the room, which came in handy!
On the day of checkout we had to be out by 11am. The hotel staff were extremely useful and stored our luggage in the lounge under lock and key. There are also communal showers to be used if you've spent the day out and about, but don't fly out until later.
All in all, this was a thorughly enjoyable break and i'd recommed the hotel, although do be prepared for the evening meals to less than thrill you."

"the hotel was very nice. clean rooms. the food was nice different things every night. also the food was replaced regularly. not suited very much for young couples as not a lot of things to do in the hotel but great for families with young children. woudl go back again as in a great location the beahc is right on your doorstep and although on a main street there is not much noise at night. Although there is a train line at the bakc of the hotel which could be quite noisy if your room is facing in that direction!!
but overall great value for money holiday!!"

recent holiday to htop royal sun
"Just returned from a holiday at this hotel .We found the food good plenty of choice to suit all nationalities. The reception and bar staff very helpful and polite. The position of the hotel fantastic right on the beach and close to shops etc.The rooms a little bit dated but very clean. The only thing i think could be improved is the entertainment as later in the evening children
take over no one to get people involved but we would return."
