Great Xmas break
"Took a 5 day break over Xmas with Festive Getaways.
Room very spacious and clean with balcony view over the pool and beach. ( Balcony good as hotel interior is nonn smoking.)
Food was excellent. Buffet choice great. Xmas eve dinner and Xmas day lunch was a lovely set menu with wine/cava included.
Station just across road and gets to Barcelona for 6.20 Euros in just over an hour - pretty journey tracking along the beaches all the way there. City double decker bus tour 2 day pass 24 euros.
To get to Lorette and Tossa you take train to Blanes and jump on bus outdie station. Public transport ran spot on time even on Xmas and Boxing day.
The hotel organised a Flamenco Spaish night nearby for 25 euros ( i think) well worth it!

"I went on holiday with 4 other friends from uni to Aqua Hotel Onabrava on September 2007. We thought it was an excellent hotel and just what we were looking for. It is a beautiful hotel, very clean and we had excellent service. The rooms were lovely and the complete decor to the whole place was stunning.
It was a very quiet and relaxing hotel with quite a few things on offer to do. Alot of the residents at the hotel were of retirement age and there were a few families, which was excellent for us. If you want a quite relaxing holiday this is the place to go.
We thought the food in the hotel was quite good; it was all buffet style food. The hotel tried to cover food from all nationalities, some of which we didn't like but there was always something on that you could eat! Lots of fresh fruits and salads and ice-cream every night which was so good!
The entertainment in the hotel was OK but we were there off high season in late September.
The weather was excellent the week when we were there, we only had one mild day and the rest of the days were hot. The train station is just across the road and the train fare is very cheap, (you cannot hear the train from the hotel was brilliant). The hotel is situated and the surrounding area is situated on completely flat land and there are no hills in the immediate area. The beach is also just across the road from the hotel, although it is a shingle beach and the gradient of the beach is very steep when you are going into the water.
We went to the Water Park in Lloret de Mar (www.waterworld.es/index_idioma.html) this was fab for those who are into water slides, we went here on the mild day and there were no queues to wait in but apparently when the weather is really hot the queues are really long. A must to go to though!
We also went to the Marine world animal Park which was situated near to Santa Susanna. Marine world has more than 300 animals, dolphin and sea lion shows, it was really good. Though very similar to animal parks in Tenerife etc... Bus stop situated just outside the hotel for this.
We went to Barcelona and took the train ourselves, we did not use the organised tours as they worked out as too expensive and we managed to do the same for alot cheaper. You get the train right outside the hotel and it takes just over an hour to get to Barcelona. We then bought an open top bus tour ticket and got on and off the bus all day. The city is beautiful, steeped in history and has lots of shops.
The market comes to Santa Susanna every Tuesday morning and the market takes place just across the road from the hotel. It's very good.
Every night after dinner we walked along the front outside the hotel and walked towards Santa Susanna town (Aqua Onabrava is situated at the furthest end of Santa Susanna). The walk into Santa Susanna had beautiful little stalls of crafts, jewellery etc right the way along the road each night. They also have a fairground with bumper cars and rides for kids that operate at night, kids would love this.
The only negative part of the holiday we did not like is the walk to the local supermarket to get water etc. The supermarket is only a short distance away from the hotel however the hotel operatorâs advice you to walk over very dry land to get there. This land is dangerous there are dogs roaming there. We stopped walking there. Either walk the long way round to the supermarket via the road or just get what you need from small shops nearer the hotel, although these shops are a bit dearer.
All in all this is an excellent hotel is excellent, which we would recommend it to anyone who wanted a very quiet relaxing holiday.

Good base in a developed resort
"I took the previous reviewer's advice and booked directly, saving 25% on the deals on offer through the booking websites.
Modern, spotlessly clean, nice (though basic) rooms, good views over the sea (across railway line, though all properties here tend to suffer from that), friendly staff, across the road from the railway station (1hr to barcelona for around 7 Euros return), free parking, indoor pool (though at extra cost), the choice of breakfast buffet was huge.
The bad (Really minor stuff):
Satellite TV with only CNN and BBC World Service in English so not entirely entertaining.
A modern purpose built resort so no traditional bars or restaurants (frustrating to my personal taste).
Hire a car and go west to the Montseny National park for some stunning mountains - Hike (or drive) up Turo de'l Home for panoramic views including the coast and the pyrenees.
Take a healthy (25 minute) walk along the promenade to Malgrat de Mar where you'll find lots of traditional cafes and restaurants.
Take the train to Blanes for some nice sea front restaurants - Sunday was great as local families were promenading as we enjoyed lunch overlooking the sea.
There is a Carrefour supermarket close by (5 minute drive or 15/20 minute walk) where you can stock up on food and drink (we picniced on our balcony a couple of evenings)."

great value if booked direct
"booked 6 nights b + b for two for £40 a night great hotel for something like this nice big roomn two double beds . big bathroom with bidet. really hot and powerful shower. rooms cleaned daily and towels changed daily . mini bar cost us 22 euros to get it for the week with about 15 soft drinks or we could have paid 2 euros a day for it empty - ideal for keeping the cava cool - necessary when you buy it in the hotel owned supermarket at 3.25 rather than in the bar at 16.75!! great balcony we got the sun in the afternoon. ideal for the station and about a 5 minute walk to the centre of santa susanna.
downside was the food. we were b and b ( we had been half board in the aqua hotel montagut suites last year and it was excellent value again) There appears to be nowhere in Santa Susanna where you can get genuine spanish food. we went to one rest linked to the Mercury Hotel which wasnt bad but we paid 50 euros for a three course meal for two with a glass of rioja which bizarrely was chilled and we couldnt eat there every night as the choice was limited. With the excpetion of The Ship - a british owned pub but where food was ok everywhere else sold hard baguettes, hot dogs, burgers or pasta and pizza and paella all of which were blitzed in a microwave - athough the chips were good - if you were feeding a small army ! we had to go to barcelona to get a decent meal!
if you go - go half board"

"The hotel is located in a good area. It is only a few minutes walk from the beach and the train station where you can get a train to Barcelona (roughly 6 Euros), and also a free bus to the two nearby water parks (waterworld and marine land).
As for the inside of the hotel, it looks great when you enter. The staff at the reception are very helpful and will try to help as much as they can. Only downside when arriving was we had to wait 2 hours for the rooms to be cleaned.
We had two rooms, both looked very nice and modern and both had two double beds. They both also had a fridge and safety deposit box but these had to be paid for. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day.
We had breakfast and evening dinner at the hotel. Both were very good and had a lot of variety. There is also quite a lot of choice for vegeterians, such as vegi burgers, pasta, mashed potatoes etc.
Overall we were very happy with the hotel, and couldn't really find anything wrong with it."

"This hotel definitely met with my expectations and that of my family. My wife and I and our 2 children stayed here for 4 nights and the whole experience was generally very favourable. The hotel is clean, modern, spacious with attentive staff and high quality on offer. The rooms are well appointed and the food is of a high level. The swimming pool is the best in the resort as far as we were concerned.
I would totally recommend this hotel to families as a safe bet!!
One word of caution, if you are a family with small children or like your beauty sleep before midnight make sure you are not allocated rooms 101 to 110 on the first floor as these rooms are directly above the music area and the sound proofing is non existent!
However, this is one very small negative in what otherewise is a very classy and high quality hotel."

"Excellent hotel, very clean. Maid service very good, nothing to much bother if you ask for anything.
Meals though are very German and Dutch orientated apart from that they were enjoyable.
Animacion team very good, in fact they are excellent. They try to get everybody involved, if you don't want to do it they don't pester you.
All hotel staff very friendly and approachable, all in all highly recommended for all ages.
Would go back again."

"This is a very nice hotel. Very clean. Across the street from the beach. It was to cold to use the pool outside. There is a fee to use the indoor pool. The meals are buffet style, but nice."

Had a great time!
"My wife and I stayed here for a quick 4 day getaway and we had a great time. The rooms were simple but clean and very well-kept. The pool area was always in order. The food was plentiful, varied and quite good. The staff was polite and helpful. The location of the hotel was especially good -- right along the main promenade of Santa Susanna, just a short walk to the train or to the ocean. The train takes you into Barcelona in an hour, so it's a good place to stay if you want to take a day trip (as we did). Santa Susanna is a nice little touristy town, with your standard trinket shops and the obligatory "British" pub. It's a safe town as well, we had no concerns walking at night.
Now, if you're looking for a hotel in the lap of luxury with everything in the hotel of the highest possible quality -- then this isn't the place for you. It's a resort hotel, a place to lay by the pool, do some shopping, eat more than you should and just relax. We found it to be a very nice resort and excellent value for money. We've recommended it to friends and we recommend it to you!"
