"Just returned from a 3 night stay here. Can't fault the hotel or the staff. Everyone very friendly and willing to help out. Had to wait a while for our room to be ready but they gave us free lunch while we were waiting. Food is excellant, you'd be hard pressed to find something you didn't like. Pool could be bigger but it's enough to cool off in. All areas are very clean and smells fresh. Will quite happily return for another stay."

Would definately recommend
"Just returned from staying here and have had a fantastic time. We went with my husband, three children aged 10, 13 and 4 and my parents whom are retired. The rooms were very modern, spacious and clean. Our family room had 3 balconies, a seperate room with a good sized double and single and a bed sofa in the lounge area. Flat screen t.v and a fridge which you could hire. The bathroom had a hairdryer and lots of complimentary shampoo, bath gel etc. We had maid service everyday, lovely white bath sheets and hand towels whenever we needed. The food was also good and varied. Toni organised activites throughout the days such as table tennis, footy ect. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Not many English staying here but it was no problem for us. Everyone got on well. This hotel was the best we have stayed in whilst been in Spain and my parents feel the same. The only downside for us was the beach but we knew before we went that the sharp incline into the sea meant it was not suitable, in our opinion, for children. My 4 year old daughter loves water but daren't go in for fear she couldn't get out."

The best hotel
"Stayed at this hotel for 11 nights. Very clean and well cared for, the food was great something for everyone great choice. The staff were great, from the reception cleaners to restaurant and bar staff, friendly and helpful. The general standard of the hotel was great, the junior suite that I stayed in was wonderful. Good access to Barcelona and all surrounding areas. I have booked the Montagut for this years holiday. "

"The Hotel was spotless, well located and the rooms were excellent. Very Spacious a comfortable. Buffet was good but gets a bit boring by the end of the week. The only downside of our stay was that the Catalonian government had booked the hotel for local residents who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary so for the whole week the hotel was filled with hundreds of old Spanish people who at breakfast and dinner were like vouchers and didn't seem to bother that they pushed in front of my 6 year old to get to the food. Would have preferred to have been accommodated at one of the other hotels purely because 2 nights out of the week the restaurant was being used for the Gala dinner and we had to eat somewhere else, we could not enjoy any of the hotel facilities as there were always at least 150 old Spanish people hanging about. The one day we decided to sit at the hotel pool I asked reception to put the fountain on in the kidâs pool for my daughter however I was told it was only put on at night for decoration, I had not seen it on all week and every other hotel had theirs on all day every day. Although we had a lovely holiday I think we were just unlucky with the time we chose to go. Would return but would certainly check with hotel first if any events are taking place!!"

the good,and the bad.
"stayed bed and breakfast.11 nights .the good !clean hotel , good size suite, pool small but ok .food ok . the bad !!! the view from room was the car park ,queing to go into the restaurant, rude unhelpful serving staff, also this hotel caters predominantly for the ignorant german spanish and dutch it does not cater for brits in anyway concequently we spent most of our evenings at the fab english bar "the drunken duck " just around the corner. a warm friendly british welcome awaits."

Not 4 Star
"Having recently returned from our 12 night stay in the Aqua Montagut, I felt I had to express my overall disappointment as a couple, after reading other good reviews. The food is poor, we were glad to be only on B&B, even so we resorted to eating breakfast elsewhere. After queing to enter the restaurant you are shown to a table(which may or may not have been cleaned properly after the previous occupant) by a temperamental waiter. God forbid you ask for a fresh orange, if you don't want to use the orange squash machine that tends to produce cloudy water, then you have to get yourself some from the bar. The Buffet food at meal time wasn't much better (15 euro each just B&B). The rooms are of an adequate size, well presented and kept very clean, with TV, safe and telephone. The pool is a little small considering the size of hotel and number of familles staying there. The bar staff were very good did their best. The reception staff seemed very uninterested and had no grasp of english when you had a query. Overall the hotel doesn't accomodate the British well, predominantly there are Spanish and Dutch guests. Entertainment was laid on during the day and night, and caters well for famillies who like parrot shows performed by knakered birds, a magic show performed by someone who had got a magic trick box for christmas, an embarasing beauty contest and some unique Cabaret. We paid a few visits to the Alhambra hotel on an evening for the enertainment. The hotel is well located on the edge of Malgrat, which offers a number of bars/cafes, souvenir shops, but a lack of quality Restaurants. Santa Susanna has little to offer except from a nice prom and a small fairground. The poor beach is a 5 minute walk under the railway line. We won't be rushing back here."

"Absolutely loved it! The hotel was spotless, staff very polite and always willing to help, room was spacious and really nice considering there were 2 adults and 2 teenage children sharing. Cleaners around most of the day, food was typical buffet food but very tasty something for everyone (hot food, salads, meats, cheeses, cakes, fruit, ice cream etc), swimming pool small but good, plenty of sun beds, no having to get up at 6am in the morning to put your towel on a bed! Only downfall was the entertainment but this didn't bother us because we were out and about in Santa Susanna and Malgrat. Local train easy and cheap can visit a few different resorts via this method including Barcelona which cost us 26 Euros return (Approx £18) for four of us. Resort still very Spanish (which we prefer) so beware learn a few words! Overall I do not have a bad word to say and I would go back there tomorrow if I could afford it! "

"Went with my grand daughter aged 7 for a week at end of July. Hotel was very good - staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were lovely with air-conditioning. Plenty of choice for food. Entertainment was over by midnight - so would suit families with younger children. Pools were lovely and you could always get a sun bed. Service at the hotel was excellent. Take the train to Blanes for a change - book the bus with your railway ticket as the beach is a fair way away from the train station. Beaches were good but the sand is very coarse. "

"Great hotel, very friendly staff. The food was extremely good - plenty of choice with a good mix of English and continental options. The hotel was very accommodating for guests in wheelchairs with ramps to all areas and large rooms designed for people with disabilities. Hotel pool was very clean and had a lifeguard on duty most of the time. Short walk to beach via underpass but easy to do."

very good hotel. prob besy in resort
"return 2nd June. our family with children 4 and 6 had a great time. food excellent and varied. staff could not do more for you. prob the cleanest hotel i have stayed in. spotless. downside, noisy on the road side at night and morning (coaches, road cleaners etc) the resort had two side to it. half was peaceful and pleasent for families. the other side for younger people wanting to party (nothing wrong with that). we just kept away from that side due to young children. beach great. clean and plenty of small cafes on prom for you to get coffees, drink, food etc. very close to Barca. we had a car and travelled to Tossa da Mar which for us was better resort. beautiful. Pineda and Malgrat a dump. very easy to get too Santa Susanna from Barca Airport. follow the coast road excellent views. worth a visit for a week. anymore and you would need to travel to other places for visits. Marineworld only 4/5 mins in car or 15mins on free bus. excellent day out. wee paid £375.00 for 4 people for one week half board. bargain. flights with easyjet extra."

Shame about the food!
"The hotel is in a convenient position for the shops, bars, etc. and about 20 mins. walk from the train station with regular trains to Barcelona and all the resorts in between. The rooms are of good size, with a partition separating the bed from the sitting area, which has sofa and TV. There is a minibar available at extra cost. The hotel has been refurbished, and is clean and well-maintained and the reception and cleaning staff are helpful and friendly. We were very disappointed in the food. The buffet is not 4* quality and fortunately they provide a microwave as the food is seldom hot. Whereas breakfast sees dishes of cooked carrots, macedoine, etc., it is hard to find a decent potato dish for dinner, and there are seldom any dishes of vegetables! They have a triple check when you go into the restaurant which means that long queues form to get in, and some of the staff are surly. The restaurant and the corridors were very noisy on the many occasions when transit coaches were bringing guests to the hotel, and there were a lot of unruly noisy children running around."
