Cheap Break short stay early 40s couple from Scotland
"We were met on arrival at hotel by very friendly staff, who made us very welcome straight away. The food is very Spanish, which when we are abroad we like to do as the locals do, however the food was just average, so we ate out on an all inclusive holiday. Hotel was spotless every where, could not fault the hygiene one bit. Bar staff all very polite, as were hotel staff no problems here at all. Requested sea view, which we got lovely big spacious room, although walls are a bit thin, as when our neighbors were talking it was like they were in the room, but this was not a major issue. WiFi was pay on arrival, however very poor signal so i wouldn't bother with it. Overall a cheap break, change of scenery with no major issues, out of season at start of march, so literally nothing to do, couple of coffee shops, small pizza place etc would suit older people better, looking for rest time."

"On arrival at the pineda palace we were met with a modern clean and likable first impression,we made our way up to our room 401 once in side we were greeted by a concrete wall on the patio, not the sea or mountain we were told we would get, gutted was an understatement view as this was our first holiday since the kids had flown the nest,we went to the reception and explained that we were not going to spend a week looking at the wall,as some of the reviews did,we arrived sat 5th june 2010 and on sunday the 6th we were looking over the mountains from our balcony, they could'nt have been more helpful, the food was gorgeous maybe on the rare occasion it could have been a bit hotter but hey they dished enough to feed 10 armys and catered for everyone at each mealtime. the food was tasty and even tried things that we have never seen b4,the staff were lovely and helpful and never rude, the rudeness actually came from a lot of the overseas guests.enough said. this hotel is not for people looking for all day every day activities and clubbing cos you wont find it,there were a few children there and each evening for about half hour they were entertained by two hotel staff with music and dancing.there was something every nite for adults, but it but it was like something from the seventies, but the drinks flow ALL nite till midnite so who cares, and there are snacks on the bar for the all inclusive guests, just across from the hotel is the beach its like very fine grit but beautiful. and you can catch the train to barcalona takes 45mins.the view from the roof pool was amazing and we got some fab photos.the pool was'nt that big but big enough, and there were plenty of sunbeds.friday morning theres a market right outside the hotel about a mile long if you like shopping you'll love it.all in all it was a fantastic holiday in a fab hotel if you are going there to do nothing but relax, there were excursions if you wanted. packed lunches and very helpful advice, from the chef to the housekeepers to the reception staff and whoever worked there, could'nt do enough for you.and a good advert is that the spanish go there all the time and the hotel is always booked solid.we met some wonderful people and we will be going back. you wont regret it. happy holiday..."

"a four star hotel with two star food, i noticed a lot of holiday makers were transfared from other hotels WHY???? cold food from breakfast to teatime, its a shame cos the hotel is fine, but there is nothing to do but sun bathe would not go back, plus if i wanted a room with a sea view they were going to charge me 20 euro a night????? so i looked at a wall for two weeks, thanks for nothing."

"Donât know what some of the reviews below are on about. Rude staff - NO!!! Maybe they are rude people. I did not encounter one rude member of staff in fact; the pool bar staff are so friendly that they are slow serving because they are talking to the guests!! I would recommend this hotel every time. I have stayed at HTTOP before and generally they are poor. This hotel is First Class. Food is fine, Staff Polite and no parrots on bikes for entertainment! Amazing location, Pool a little small but very acceptable. Rooms clean and tidy with CBBC BBC3/4 on the TV Would have no problem going back, if you want a peaceful break with or without the family, this is the place to go.... "

I would recommend this hotel!
"Ive never given a review before but thought this hotel deserved a frank, honest review. Upon arriving at the hotel my first thought were that from the outside the hotel looked clean, modern and in fact quite grand and i was pleasantly surprised that it was the same inside the hotel also. The reception staff spoke moderately good english and were very helpful with all of our enquiries. The hotel was exceptionally clean as was our room which was fairly spacious (even with a double and a single bed). There was a tv with english channels as well as a hairdryer in the bathroom which was quite handy, and the bathroom and the room itself were decorated nicely and very modern and there was even a bidet and 2 showers in the bathroom (in case one is not enough!). We also got a good size balcony. Our room was cleaned everyday without fail and we were provided with clean towels and clean bedsheets everyday which was nice. Dinnertimes were great with a whole range of different foods for everybody, and the foods varied everyday so you never got bored of the same thing, from cooked breakfasts to pancakes to pan fried fish to paella to lamb hotpot, to chips the food was top dollar and the best thing about staying in this hotel all inclusive is that if you are going out for the day on an excursion etc or just dont want to come back for lunch if you ask them the night before they will pack a lunchbox for each member of your family which included sandwiches, fruit, water etc which was fab as we never had to pay out for lunch. They had some fab cocktails and everyday they have cocktail of the day which is free to all inclusive guests and they also have kids cocktails. The pool was on the rooftop which was quite different, fairly small sized pools but adequate and clean, one for adults and one for children and theres a bar up there in case you get thirsty!. The hotel is right on the beach you only have to walk across the road which was really handy and also the train station is only a few minutes walk away so we caught the train to Barcelona for a few euros. Lots of attractions nearby such as marine land, gnomo park, barcelona zoo and the hotel offers free excursions to a flamenco show and also a medieval show which were both amazing (you only have to pay transport fees at 15 euros each). All in all a lovely hotel to stay at and a lovely resort, the only honest drawbacks were that the pillows on the bed are very small so they are a bit uncomfortable (altohugh we could live with that and slept ok) and the other would be that there was hardly anything going on for children actually at the hotel, nothing in the daytime at all (although that was fine for us as we were out everyday) and at night the entertainment doesnt start till 9pm, there is a half hour mini disco for the kids and then the adult entertainment starts. The entertainent area is outside so you cant really let your children run off round the dancefloor (as a road is nearby) and there werent that many children there even in the school holidays but maybe this was because it was a 4 star hotel??. Anyway apart from that it was great and we had a great holiday:D "

Best room 628
"Hotel location was good, we had an end room on 6th floor which was spacious, lovely view of the sea, I'd say it was probably one of the best rooms in the hotel. Hotel was very clean. Dining room busy on an evening, food sometimes cold, but on the whole not bad, catered for every taste. Although the snacks were terrible at this hotel. Beach is one of the quietest in the area, Calella and Santa Susanna both walkable in half an hour in either direction are much busier. We went to visit some of the other H Top hotels which was a nice change. Proving snacks can be good elsewhere ! Medeival night was a big let down. Bus arrived 40 mins late to pick us up so it had started when we arrived, we were sat at the very far end which spoilt it for us. They served only rose wine with the food, which you had to eat without cutlery, soup included ! The show was an hour long, after this you go through to the disco / flamenco show where they charge for all drinks aprx 5e each !, we got a taxi back at this point costing 23e, but surely cheaper then a few rounds here. I enjoyed our stay here, but owuld probably go to the Royal Sun in Santa Susanna next year."

What we expecteed
"because of the nature of my employment I have to take holidays in the autumn and the winter. Having visited Pineda in the springtime my wife and I decided a winter break would be great, and we were not disappointed. The hotel was great, very clean, room was well decorated with plenty of space and what a bonus we had a seaview ithout asking for it. The railway was not a problem as the first train was not until 06.15 and as we are early risers this was not a disturbance. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they were very knowledgable when asked about places to visit. Food was really good and everything was edible, nothing undercooked or overcooked, plenty of variety,we tried everything.Fortunately we do not eat with our eyes, but will try anything once. The only downside and it is not the staff's fault was that the hotel was full of Spanish holidaymakers, the majority of whom were very rude and demanding, but we found that the staff did not give them preference over anybody else, but served everyone in their turn. Entertainment was very much geared to the Spanish but as we chose to go to a hotel at this time of year when the majority of Spanish pensioners are also holidaying we had to expect it. All in all a great holiday and it left us feeling very relaxed."

"After deciding to go away for a short break, myself and a friend (both in our 20's)had a quick look on teletext, saw Pineda Palace briefly and thought hey...that looks cool! Decent price for what it was so we went ahead and booked it.....then I read the reviews!!! I was slightly anxious to say the least. HOWEVER..I agree with all previous review. The rooms were clen and well maintained but the walls were far too thin; we even had someone bang at us when we were wispering...seriously!! We only ate breakfast on the first morning but wernt overly keen so ate out for the rest of the stay despite paying half board! (TIP: Dont order the carbanara at the italian resturant a few doors down.. ha!). The staff were ok...some myserable (I was frowned upon after asking one to smile) and some not too bad. All I can say is if your looking for a QUIET break, with the beach a stones throw away your laughing cos there really isnt anything to do...take a book or ten. Also if your middle aged, slightly overweight with a parchant for bumbags and t-shirt with eagles on...and have a few loud children in the wings that are high on coke and chocolate and havnt seen a carrot or sprout for years....knock yourself out! Plus points...the train station is 2 minutes walk and trains run to Barcalona from 06.20 every half an hour. Return ticktes are only 6Euro, but be warned, the last train back is 20.40 and the journey takes an hour! Reception staff were nice (but the porter ushered me into my room after he spotted me talking in the corridor on the servailance camera talking to our neighbours at 12.30...heaven forbid you should be up after midnight!) 4star...no way! 3 star...at a push!! Would I go again...nope, but lifes about experiences and when alls said and done, we had a laugh and the hotel did not spoil our holiday in the slightest! Enjoy!!!! "

Excellent Last Minute Holiday
"We booked through Teletext Holidays and the hotel was brilliant, food was lovely and so much choice there was something for even the most fussy eater and what made me feel comfortable was that even the staff were eating it too. Everything appeared to be clean and tidy and the seats in the reception lounge were so comfortable that you wanted to fall asleep on them... lol I will point out though that the walls of the rooms are very thin and it can be noisy, you know what it is like when someone drags a chair around a tiled floor, the children in the room next door seemed to love playing this game - so glad I took some ear-plugs, sorted. Staff were very friendly and eager to help if you had a query. Can't really fault this hotel, we had a great 4 nights stay :-) "

"i went here for a family holiday, i was meant to be staying at the paradise park hotel but on arrival we was transfered to pineda palace cause the air con wasn't working in the rooms, but overall i loved it here it was good for the price that we payed for it, it's not party central but it is nice for a relaxing break away the hotel was very very clean the maid's was lovely and helpful, the reception staff cant do enough to help you went, the entertainment in the hotel was very good different act's on every night kid's disco every night flamino dancers, magicians, disco, really good the beach wasn't very nice cause it was shingles not sand so thats was very uncomfortable. there was one grumpy old man on the bar but if you are all inclusive you can only get one drink per card if you was english but if the spanish went up he would give them as many as the wanted. but overall the holidays was good, the meals are very basic there was always somthink to eat but very boring dinners. i would defently go back here it was cheap, clean , and friendly it was a great getaway "

"I was origonally meant tpbe staying at Llorett de mar, but we were transferred to pineda de mar due to the hotel over booking. i went with 2 friends and we wanted a lively place with a good night life, what we got was the complete opposite! The hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacous with nice n-suite bathroom to meet all our needs. The daily maid service was top class. The drinks were excellent, however the food left a lot to be desired. at the time we went all of the spanish OAP's were on their annual free holiday, and i found most of them to very rude! the staff catered for the spanish and most of the staff were rude and arrogant to us scottish and english. Everything has to be pre-booked, including the jacuzzi. Overall this is a nice hotel, if ur not a fussy eater, you will be fine. I dont think my children would have eaten much from the poor selection of food. There are some nice restraunts near by though. The nightlife was nothing to write home about, there was a place just 1 min away called pineda party, which is a cool atomosphere. The beach is beautifull, we spent a lot of time sunbathing there, and there are lots of nice shops selling everything you can think of. themarket on friday is so packed with people its quite intimidating, there are pick pockets around, i was constantly aware of my ag and purse lol. A very charming little town though, i would recoment a visit, but dont expect 4 star treatment folks coz u will be very dissapointd!"

Well me and my 5 friends, all 25 and 26 ...
"Well me and my 5 friends, all 25 and 26 years old, have just returned on the 27th September from this hotel. We originally booked to go to Santa Susanna and stay at the Los Pinos hotel but Sun4udirect.com overbooked the hotel and moved us to the Pineda Palace in Pineda de Mar. The hotel itself is quite nice, rooms are a decent size and the maid service is very good with them coming everyday. They have a nice Jacuzzi and sauna which you have to book, like everything else (which I'll get to), but you have the room to yourself and or your party. The outside pool area is ok, we noticed a very odd smell from the pool side though, which wasn't very pleasant and the pool does have a bar however if you are all inclusive you can only have a drink from it, nothing else unless you pay. Our group did go all inclusive and the drinks were pretty good especially the measures of alcohol, you could get two each at any one time and you could have any local produce, of which there was loads of selection including cocktails of the day. Now for the downside of the hotel, the food in the restuarant was ok but nothing more. It was pretty much the same everyday with one or two changes. Everything seemed to have tuna in it, which was quite bizzare. Quite a lot of the hot dishes were actually cold and the meat dishes, we had a couple of chicken dishes that we sampled to find they were completely uncooked. We did all find something to eat out of the selection each day but we were on most occasions less than satisfied. The hotel staff were quite rude and not over friendly but maybe that was because we were English, as the entire hotel was filled with dutch and spanish holiday makers and they made their feelings apparent for us british, most of the time making us feel completely unwanted and it got quite embarressing for us towards the end of the week. We wanted a lively area, so that we could go out to the bars and clubs in the evening once we had made full use of our all inclusive board, however that unfortunately was not how it ended up being. Pineda de Mar is very very very very quiet. There is no bars and no clubs and literally nothing to do. There is other hotels that you can go in but all were about as exciting as ours. The Pineda palace's idea of entertainment, left a lot to be desired, especially when the staff ask you to join in with the entertainment and then do nothing but throw insults and descriminate you because of your nationality in front of the rest of the hotel, which is something else we experienced. The hotel was full of people 60 + and that is no lie. As soon as the time hits midnight, the bar shuts, the lights are off and you are almost ordered up to your room, told be quiet as its bedtime and if you make any noise you are told you will be thrown out. The walls are soo thin, you are then too scared to do anything incase you end up in trouble. As a group of young adults, not wanting to cause trouble but simply have a good time on holiday we found it awful. The beach is lovely and clean and the water is beautiful. Ive never swam in the sea but for the first time ever, I spent quite a while in it. It was crystal clear and warm. The only downside again is that the beach is shingle and very tough on your feet and the current in very strong and after a couple of meters the water is very deep and it can be hard to get back to the shore. I feel I should also mention that the hotel does require you to book EVERYTHING in advance, from using the spa, to going on trips and even pre-booking your snacks the day before, which was also quite amusing seeing as you had to guess whether or not you'd be hungry and at what time it would likely be. I am a mum of 3 and this was my first holiday with friends away from my family but I found Pineda de mar just too quiet and wouldn't even recommend it for a family holiday. I would say it is suitable for the more mature people without kids or even as far to say pensioners only but DEFINATELY DEFINATELY DEFINATELY NOT for anyone wanting to have a bit of fun and even a sniff of a night out.
