"I was a bit concerned about this hotel after reading some of the reviews but I there was nothing to worry about. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and in all a very nice holiday. The hotel is on the beach with the bars a short walk away. If you are looking for luxury book into a five star.
Barcelona is an hour away by train which costs 7.18 euros return. The tourist bus (hop on hop off)there costs 22 euros but is the only way to see the city in a day

hotel a big disappointment
"have been to this hotel in the past and although it is not by any means a great place to stay it was clean and
near where we wanted to be. this year oh my god the hotel has gone down sooo much, the hotel was clean and the staff that were there were ok but there is NO MANAGEMENT to be found and the food was the worst i have every had in spain. the hotel seems to be catering for the eastern europeans as they didnt have a problem eating the slops that was on offer and it didnt even have a good breakfast (which is hard to get wrong !!) there was NO entertainment that didnt invlove a few people getting up to sing (i say that in the braodest term) and the entertainment team consisted of two very young girls trying their best, NO WAY WE WOULD GO BACK
i would like the management to have a good long look at this place and DO SOMETHING......"

Avoid if you can.....
"Myself and my Partner went for one week 2-9-09 to 9-9-09. It only cost a £300 each for All Inclusive. And you certainlty get what you pay for which isnt a lot. Rooms were tiny with hard uncomfortable beds. Sheets werent changed the the entire we were there not once!! The food was great if you like all your food Deep Fried. Variety ? ? ? Yea a variety of Pork or Fish cooked to death in about 10 diffrent ways. Although the Fresh Watermelon was good. Bar Staff were rude and arrogant. Athough receptionist was sweet. The only one big bonus and advantage was our sea view room which was nice and the fact that the hotel is right on the beach. Just a walk up the beach about 2 minutes is Buddha Beach bar with an amazing atmoshpere and cracking cocktails and the mexican restaurant for food. (we ate out twice)If you can afford a little more definitly pay it. I will not be going back here. Really not nice."

Perfect for families and very safe
"After leaving the Espali and the Bon Repos we finally landed in heaven - after my tears we unpacked and withing 2 mins walk we were at the pool and on the beach. Safe as houses for leaving your towels on the beach, the food was fabulous, all the staff were so lovely with my daughter and fabulous, the rooms were spacey and clean, no noise as it only has 100 rooms so we slept very well. The entertainment was great apart from we only had 3 nights of mini disco due to machine being broken and waiting for another one. I would recommend this to anyone and I would love to go again with my daughter. It is miles apart from teh other 2 dumps and they are all the same star and group of companies. DO NOT BOOK WITH RESORT HOPPA THOUGH fro transfers as they had medwon to pick up at Barcelona and so I had to pay 60 euros with my daughter of 3 on my own to resort they also cocked up about 6 other peoples transfers too. Not as bad as people say!
"I dreaded coming to this hotel when i read all the reviews.
The food was awful, but remember they were catering for 5 different countries. The entertainment was brilliant Tinnis n heshster were amazing, and they are there until oct 09. The bar men were moody but considering all the comments they got and all the moody people that had to much to drink they were ok.
I am booking this hotel again. If people just look beyond the food they will have a very good time. "

"My sister and I, both in our thirties have just come back from a 4 night stay at the Amaraigua Hotel in Malgrat de Mar. After reading the reviews before we went we were expecting the worst so we knew we wouldn't be disappointed, and we certainly weren't.
The hotel was fine, it is a 3 star so its comfortable enough although our room 115 was tiny, but we are the sort of people who make the best of everything, after all you dont go on holiday to stay in your room!
Entertainment in the hotel was average, it was early in the season though so not particularly busy. Last orders are most definately 11.30 & the bar closes at midnight.. without fail lol... It is quite funny trying to keep hold of your drink whilst the barman wants to take it off you and send you to your room.. not laughed so much for ages!
Yes the food is disgusting!! I say this laughing because we didn't realise this until our second night, as the first night we were quite drunk and it tasted ok then lol!! You can live on soggy chips & various meat or fish, well we think it was meat or fish, could've been anything!! We found walkers crisps in a shop so didn't starve lol!!
The hotel being right on the beach is brilliant.. Yes you do have to walk under the subway to go to the town but its absolutely fine, just make friends with the people that may hang around, they're very friendly... Honestly we only saw them once & yes we talked to them, its fine the subway is only scary when you get chased by a big moth lol !!
The nightlife in the town was great, especially when you get served a pint of vodka & coke! Just dont drink too many of these and strip on the bar because the barmen have cameras.... not good lol!
The weather was fantastic, there had been thunder storms the night before we arrived and apparantly the hotel flooded, but that cleared the air and for our four days it was lovely, hot & sunny. We managed to burn the first day, burn again the last day, and peeled when we got home lol!
One day we caught the train to Lloret de Mar.. not easy! First we didnt have a clue which side of the platform to be on and also hadn't been told the train doesn't go there, you have to get off at Blanes and catch the bus! We managed to get there through lots of histerical laughter and asking people to help who didn't understand & just laughed at us..
once there its a great place, much busier than Malgrat, this is where you get the water sports & beach volley ball, and it looks like the nightlife is better. Think we'l go there next time!
All in all a great holiday.. if you want sun & booze cant fault it. If you want good food stay in England!!!

LUCKY TO BE ALIVE....
"we have very recently returned from a 3 day stay in malgret de mar, at the not so beautiful hotel amaraigua.
i can honeslty say it was more like a concentration camp than a hotel.
it was exacly how i imagine hell to be!!
dont really know where to start other than to warn anyone that reads this that it is not worth it because its cheap.
food - if you saw a tinned brown brussel sprout at breakfast then you were sure to see it again mixxed in with something else for either lunch or dinner, i wouldnt feed the food that they served to a dog, it consisted of spam fritters, tods!!!!! tinned ravioli and a delightful selection of anemic looking salad.
there seemed to be one member of staff that looked and smelt like something out of a horror film. he seemed to run the hotel single handly.
the pool - we didnt even venture near it there was a delightul scum that seemed to line the edges with what can only be described as a floater! which seemed to remain there all day.....
the only saving grace about the whole place was the beach! which has to be said was the only reason we didnt leave.
i must give it to the hotel they made you feel so incredibly uncomfortable that rather than drown your sorrows on the all inclusive bar you had to just get out and pay for your drinks somewhere else.
as for the stars!! dont be fooled, anyone can stick 3 explosions on top of their name and it certainly doesnt indicate the official star rating.....

"Please keep reading as this is the most accurate review you will read.
We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in september '08 and it was good, not great but then again we only paid 550 for the both of us all inclusive.
Hotel - The hotel lobby was nice and the staff at reception were friendly and always happy to help. The pool looked nice although it wasnt really warm enough to use and our room was a little on the small side but we didnt go on holiday to stay in the room.
Food - There was always a good selection of food to cater for all nationalities but you did have to work out if you would like it by looking at a picture of a fish, pig, cow etc and was no real decription of what you were getting.
Location - The hotel was located right on the beach and only a short distance from the main shopping street, where there are countless shops, bars and places to eat. You have to walk under a subway thingy under a train track to get from one side to the other and is a little scary at night time. The beach was more gritty than sandy but was still ok.
Overall i liked it although i would not go again. 7/10!"

Was meant to stay at the hotel for a wee...
"Was meant to stay at the hotel for a week, within 2 days of staying there i couldn't take any more and I had to pay to catch an early flight home. The hotel rooms were tiny, and smelt like something had died inside of them despite the cleaners coming in every day. Worst of all the food- for the 2 days i did manage to stay at the hotel, the only thing I ate was bread rolls and butter and ice cream. There was hardly any choice and even the chips tasted greasy and cold. Just thinking about being back at this hotel makes me feel sick. The only things the room did contain was a television and a safe, so buying food from a supermarket was also out the question.
As said below during my stay, somebody died by the pool. Imagine waking up to finding your hotel with investigation tape around it and police walking around- not very assuring. And to think that minutes later that a dead body has been removed, children are running around in only swimwear makes me feel sick.
The pool wasnt very big considering the amount of people who tried to get around it - wasnt enough sun loungers, guests were having to sit on towels on the floor. ...
ALSO THE BEACH- prepare yorself, the sand ISNT sand... its gravel !! this really let me down, pictures on google look lovely, the sea is, the sand isnt, it hurts!
The good things about this hotel was - the guests that were in it, the free drinks, and the one receptionist, apart from this this was the worst holiday ever.
Even Malgrat de Mar itself was disguisting - smelly subways, graffiti etc.
Please dont bother wasting your money and time coming here, I really do feel sorry for anybody who has to put themselves staying at this hotel/resort
Earlier in the year I had been to Barmouth in Wales- the weather was just as nice, the beach was better, and where i stayed was 100x nicer too. The thing is, it cost 10 times less.
Hope you have taken on board my advice- I really cant see how other reviewers have given it anymore then 2/10. Id give it 0/10 if i could but its going to have to be 1/10

Me and my partner age 24 and 27 visited...
"Me and my partner age 24 and 27 visited this hotel in aug 08. It was a last minute desicion so we thought it was probably better going all inclusive.
We had a fantastic room with an amazing view. The location of the hotel was fantastic situated right on the beach. So if your not happy lying around the hotel you can go on the beach as it is only 4 euros for a sun lounger for all day till 6pm and you can still go to the all inclusive bar in the hotel. The pool was fantastic cleaned every morning. slightly cold but once your in its lovely.
The bar opens at 10 am, yes i would agree with some reviews the bar tenders are not that friendly. But i suppose it is understanderble working under 30 degree sun with a full uniform (shirt and waistcoat and black trousers) i dont think i would be that friendly either. The drinks are brill you dont have to pay for anything. The sangria is nice for during the day.
The room as i said was great lovely balcony, equiped with ash trays outside for smokers such as ourselves. We had a small bathroom but brand new shower of which was cleaned every day, beds were also made and room was tidyed up.
Its 20 euros + 10 deposit for saftey deposit box which is situated in the room. to be completly honest its not really needed as it is very safe.
The food... well that is the only downfall to this hotel. If your on a strict diet then i wouldnt recommend it at all. There is horse meat (i didnt touch it i think that says everything) but also other nice things to. i felt the puddings such as melon and ice cream was always available. With the heat we were not very hungry anyway.
The staff at reception are young girls, even though they dont speak very good english they did try and help as much as they can.
Overall it was a cheap holiday the entertainment wasnt great but at the end of the day the night life was good even though we didnt go out much we made our own holiday perfect.
I think yes i would go back again for a week as we did enjoy it overall.
Thank you amaraiga!"
