"Just returned from the royal star, in our party was one child and two teenagers who all enjoyed their stay. Our room overlooked the pool and saw it cleaned twice a day, the entertainment staff were brilliant with the kids and adults. The food was good plenty of choices, we found all staff friendly and willing to help. On a negative side their were not enough sun beds and witnessed people running with towels. At 9am every morning, mainly us Brits!;"

"If you are a family and looking for a family holiday stay well away from this chain of hotels HT!!! It was full of youths 16-19 years old and sleep it's a luxury in these hotels !!! We were about four family in that hotel, the queues at the restaurant, bar were huge;the hotel gym didn't have any working apparatus, the spa's ceiling was half broken-some of the lift lights were pulled out.Way beyond 3*, more as a youth hostel..The resort itself it's full of youths;very noisy, lots of drunks and inappropriate behavior. Security in the hotel couldn't cope with keeping them under control. We've complained all the time but the General Manager wasn't very helpful. Food was very poor and the restaurant didn't have any air condition or any window to open. You could see the bottom of the pool from the restaurant but all you could see was rude teenagers making obscene signs! We came back sleep deprived, angry and felt like we've been tricked by the hotel description which says 'family hotel'.Never again!!! we've booked with low cost holidays and they were hopeless too!"

"Unfortunately there was no way this was a 4 star hotel and it was next to a busy main road! My fella and I didnt sleep well at all. Breakfast wasn't missed, lunch and dinner had choice but nothing too exciting. Drinks in plastic cups. Location on top of a hill! Staff are friendly, hotel is clean but the noise made us feel more tired. We need another holiday!"

"I am disable and required a little bit more consideration, however the reception staff treated me dicourteously. They treated me as if I was an inconvenience. They got annoyed about simple requests for a room near a lift which was a request made prior to my arrival. The service at the dinning room bar was poor because I had to wait it a queue of 50 people to get a glass of water. Then I would have to join the back of the queue to get a beer, because they would nly serve one drink for one person at a time. The spanish pensioners got better service from all of the staff. There was very little entertainment for non-spanish guests. For £830 pounds I expected more."

"we booked all inclusive for 1 week at the royal star in lloret in june 2010. these were the problems i found: DRINKS & BAR - all inclusive you get given a card you are only allowed 1 drink per card and 2 drinks per person going up to order, the ques were massive! because i have 2 children i had to que for me and my sons drink then que again for my little girls drink. The bar staff were very rude and hated people that were all inclusive, the drinks were awaful. the only drink i found drinkable was larger and coke DO NOT TRY THE COCTAIL of the day! tasted like mouth wash. I got charged for baileys even though i was all inclusive they said that you had to pay for that drink, but then found out later in the week it was free!. In the restraunt queing for drinks was a nightmare you couldnt have a drink in the middle of your meal because the que would be realy long and your food would be cold. ENTERTAINMENT - non existent there was no entertainment whatsoever in this hotel apart from a electric keyboard player one night!, absolutley nothing for the children very disapointing. And they put the childrens play area on the roof the only way to get ther was to flights of stairs impossible with a puschair. The games room was awful only two things worked the rest were broken. Swimming pools - The indoor pool was filthy and stunk of B.O and urine. The 1 outdoor pool, people can see you swimming from the restraunt underneath the water, a bit ofputting for me, was freezing cold but fairly clean. The other pool was very noisy and packed as its next to the bar.Patio was dirty as were the sunbeds and chairs. FOOD/ RESTRAUNT - avoid seafood, my whole family aswell as myself and other people in the hotel were really unwell from the food on this holiday violenty sick etc for 2 days. chips every day the same desserts every night green tart or red. no real icecream just little icecream pots strawberry or vanilla. restraunt staff were very rude and just couldnt wait to go home is the impression you got. snack bar - cold chips, frankfurter sausages, burgers, or ice pops absolutley disgusting i found the food in edible. NOISE- very noisey full of german students shouting until the early hours. The walls are also very thin and you can hear everything from the next door rooms. HOTEL ROOMS- the rooms were very clean the maids did an excelent job the only people that can be praised on this holiday, the bathroom was very dated and the bath was brown just because of it been so old. All over the hotel there was graffiti in the cupboards and walls of the rooms, and the covers had holes in. Overall the hotel is very dated and scruffy and is definatley ready for some revamp, no way is this hotel the 4 stars it has been given more like 2. It was one of the worst holidays i have ever been on was so happy to come home, very disapointing."

Worst Holiday ever

"This is the worst holiday experience I have ever had!!!!!! The hotel food is abysmal - the bar staff are surly and too few, the outdoor pools are cold, fair enough but the heated indoor pool had to be shared with dead beetles. There was at times a twenty five minute wait to be served 2 drinks at the bar, since there were 2 adults and 1 child in our party, it meant a 50 minute wait for drinks. The food was dreadful and cleanliness questionable, one day someone cut their hand on a broken plate at the desert bar, the blood the ran down the side and was cleaned up with a serviette and the bar left open with just one tray of food removed. The snack bar was extremely limited and did not vary from salad. cheese, hot dog or burger. The drinks were awful and even the orange juice was watered down. After the arrival of about 100 German students, the holiday went down hill, the noise was horrendous. They were partying when getting ready to go out between 11-12 and on their return between 3.30 and 4.30 am as well as banging on doors. The security guard resorted to using a loudhailer at 4.30 am to get them to go to their rooms and quieten down. We had very little sleep for 6 nights. Whilst it may not sound too bad to you on reading this, try living it. We did resort to eating out, and also paying for sunbeds on the beach, it was the only way to get some respite. It may be a place to visit for hen-nights or partying but it is not a family hotel - do avoid "

Our room was near the bar so didn't get any sleep until 2am most nights. Walls very thin can hear everything! Beach 10-15 mins away. Full of French (who don't like queuing) Overall hotel ok but don't know how this hotel is a 4 star and i wouldn't recommend this hotel. :( "

"After growing up being used to family holidays in a minimum of 4 star hotels, it is needless to say that I am a very fussy person. I loved this hotel, it was fantastic. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. The little shop downstairs was great for those little things you need to pick up, and the snacks vending machine opposite the shop and the drinks vending machine were fantastic for those nights you wake up in need of a drink and the bar has shut! The hotel was modern, fun, friendly and the air con hits you as you walk into reception... perfect! The staff were friendly and gave us loads of information on days out and where to catch the local bus from... taxis are super expensive over there. I was quite disappointed with the food and often had snacks. Most of the time it was fish that was served, and as I dont like any sort of sea food my only options were chips or potatoes. However when there was something i did like, the food was delicious and can not be faulted. The restaurant was beautiful and unique. What appeared to be large windows, were infact panels in the deep end of the pool. You could see the water, people diving in and often people swimming across. Although it was fairly funny, i was not that keen on the panels during the day, however on the night when the pool is lit up its beautiful. The rooms were beautiful and the air con fantastic, got a perfect nights sleep! As it was just my ex boyfriend and I,and I was only 17 at the time I was determined to pay for my holiday myself and was on quite a tight budget. I was originally booked into the H.top Alexis hotel. This was the ultimate holiday from hell, i would not recommend this hotel for a dog. The alexis hotel is absolutly disgusting. I can not believe they are the same chain of hotels with such a HUGE difference. The Alexis was dirty, the food was cold, the same food served both day and night, the staff were rude, the hotel was falling apart, it was like something out of the 50's, situated on a hill, the bar was like an old film i.e full of smoke certainly not good if you suffer from asthma with old men smoking pipes and to top it all off they had left the windows open in the restaurant and when i came to the food it was covered in flys. The air con in this hotel was awful, you had to stand on a chair with your hand over the vent to feel the tiniest draft, which the staff thought the air con was working fantastic. Only if you could not feel anything was the air con broken! I had no sleep for the 3 nights i was in the alexis hotel and on the fourth day it was either fly home or get moved to another hotel. My parents got us moved to the Royal star! What a breath of fresh air! I am completly baffled as to why anyone could have slated this hotel! Although the hotel was fantastic, it is not somewhere i would consider going back but not because of the hotel but because of the location. I love the beach and was devestated to find that every beach had no sand just rocks. You could not walk along the beach in sandals as the rocks got in and were very painful and could not walk along bare foot as it was even worse. I ended up cutting my feet to shreads! I picked up a magazine in our hotel and read there was a white sand beach nearby, it was about 20 mins away and the taxi fare was ridiculous! When we got there I thought we were in the wrong place however we were at the beach. I was devestated again to realise i had just spent about 20 euros in a taxi to find that their idea of a white beach was in fact just white rocks! I wouldn't recommend Lloret De Mar if you like a holiday with a nice sandy beach as i didn't see a spot of sand all holiday! Beautiful hotel in the wrong location shame it's not somewhere else!"
