Have just arrived back from a weeks stay...
"Have just arrived back from a weeks stay at the President hotel and was very pleased with what we got. We booked this as a cheap, last minute deal in the school holidays and for the price we paid we were over the moon.
The hotel itself is lovely and clean with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are quite spacious for a family room (there was myself, my husband and our 2 boys, aged 2 and 6) and we had 2 single beds and bunk beds. We pushed all the beds together (not finding any dirt underneath!) and all slept in the 3 lower beds so there was space on the floor for the boys to play and we didn't have any accidental falls out of bed!! The walls are pretty thick as well for a Spanish hotel as we didn't hear any noise from our neighbours or from the corridor outside. The cleaners came in every day and mopped the floors and changed the towels etc. There is also a safety deposit box inside the wardrobe which is advisable by all tour operators and the hotel. Get the key from the reception, â¬19 for the week with a â¬10 deposit which I thought was quite reasonable.
The dining room is quite spacious and definately caters for the europeans, there were French, Spanish, Germans and Russians staying and only a few English. The meals are quite repetative but you can always find something to eat. For breakfast (8am - 10.15am) there is the usual, juice, tea and coffee, cereals, bacon, sausage (spicy), egg dish, beans, cold meats and cheese, bread, toast, croissant, cakes, biscuits etc. For the evening meals you are allocated a slot (we were given 7-7.30pm which is the first sitting) and for the week we were there they had 3 special nights (mexican, seafood and chinese). There is a salad bar, then a choice of about 5 main meals, bread and if all else fails there is always a toastie maker to make your own cheese and ham toasties!! The only downside to the restaurant is the foreigners that use it. They have no manners, will push in and on the first night there pushed my eldest out the way to get to the food. Even my son asked why they were pushing in when there was a queue!
The pool area is lovely with 2 pools, 1 for swimming (no inflatables allowed) and another for the kids which also had a life guard on. The only downside to the pool is that there IS NO baby pool, the shallowest part of the pool is 60cm. There is a sign up which tells you that reserving sunbeds is not allowed and I have actually found the 1 sign in the world that the Germans read and follow!!! We got to the poolside each morning at about 10am and was one of the first to get a sunbed!! Even if we went out in the morning and went to the pool after lunch you could still get a bed!! AMAZING!! There is also a small childrens play area at the side of the pool which kept my 2 amused for about 10 minutes.
The location of the hotel is ideal. Close enough to walk to the shops and beach but away from the noise. The beach and the centre are about 5 minutes walk away, out the hotel, turn right, staight on until you reach the beach(use the underpass near the bowling and crazy golf to cross the main road, its very safe and always smells of soap!!)
The main shopping area is pedestrianised and comprices of 2 roads that run parallel to each other with side roads also going off and go on for miles. Everything from candles, fashion, cafes ,icecream parlours and bakers to the usual tourism nick nacks. These streets are just to the left before you go under the underpass to the beach. The beach is small stones but has cafes on. If you turn right and go towards the end of the bay there is an enclosed childrens play area which is free with water guns, sand pits and a bouncy castle which has a beach library next to it. If you turn left and walk under the trees there is a large childrens play area with a cafe next to it.
There is also another play area in the evening for kids on the main road (turn left at the bowling and don't go under the underpass) which has rides â¬1 each, mini car track â¬2 each, outside trampolines â¬2, inside trampolines â¬1, a large inflatable area outside â¬2.50 for 10 minutes and a sort play area inside â¬6 each. I can also recommend the road train. â¬2 per person is stops outside the hotel every 20 minutes throughout the day and night and does a tour of Calella. We stayed on all the way back to the hotel and we were on it for nearly 1 hour and the boys loved it.
There is a lovely cafe bar on the next block to the hotel called GRAN CAFE. Lovely food, excellent staff all speaking great english, english TV, all the football matches and between 8pm and 10pm its happy hour 2 4 1. What more could you ask for!!
I would definately recommend this resort for either couples, families or youngsters. From what I saw of the night life there was plenty of bars and discos to enjoy and they were still going into the discos at 4.30am when we were getting picked up to come home. On the whole if we chose to go back to Calella I would definately try to book the President Hotel."

Myself my wife and our 2 children age 6...
"Myself my wife and our 2 children age 6 & 8 have just returned from a weeks holiday at the hotel president 16/08/08. The hotel caters for all nationalities, French, Italian, Dutch, German and English, the room was comfy and clean, and was cleaned every day. The resteraunt was great, we went full board and the choice was excellent, something for everyone and even our kids who are fussy eaters enjoyed the choices. There was no panic in getting a sun bed in the morning, we went out to the pool every morning at about 10am and had now problem in getting sun beds and parasols, the hotel has stricked rules on beds being reserved and no one can get to the pool area before 9am. The beach is a 5 - 10 min walk away as is the town centre which has a great array of shops. We are looking to book again for next year."

"We visited this hotel for a 4 day 'cheapie'!! and didnt know what to expect for the price we paid. We took our 5year grandson for a few days in the sun and he enjoyed every minute of his short break. This hotel is rated as a 3 star and is worth every penny. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and the staff are all pleasent and helpful. The food in the dining room is fairly repetitive however you will always find something to eat. There was at least 3 choices on the evening meal and a salad bar which was plentiful. The deserts were again repetitive but for a three star hotel more than expected. The hotel is well within walking distance of the quaint town and the railway line separating the town and the beach is easly accessible via the tunnel. The pubs and clubs cater for the party goers at a night time many have no entry charge. The hotel entertainment was OK with a couple of good acts (the magic show was brilliant). The hotel pools (3 of them) were clean and unbelievably warm!!! I would definately go back to this hotel again. "

"Accommodation rooms were average, everything inclusive was brilliant meaning we could have breakfast in the morning but most of all free alcoholic drinks, however in the evenings the queue at the bar was huge.
Staff were helpful in directing us around and informing us about events. There were at least 3 swimming pools in the hotel so that was nice to have, along with a small shop.
The restaurants nearby were really good, everything from ice creams shops to Italian restaurants etc but there werenât that many bars. There was a beach nearby but the sand was more stony than sandy!
There were a bowling place to go to along with fun games. There were loads of small stored around where you buy gift and the basic daily products you may need. Had to travel to another city to find a decent nightlife and had to travel by bus for a good few miles to get to a water park."

"We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel as it was extremely good value for a family of 4 in the school holidays!
The room had 4 single beds in it and wasnât huge but it had all you needed and was clean, if a little out dated.
The hotel itself was quite impressive with a huge dining room, large bar area and 3 swimming pools, again all the areas were very clean and tidy.
The best part of the stay was probably the food, we had full board and to be honest we ate too much. The food was buffet style and the choice was huge and varied and was suitable for kids. Would recommend taking the full board option as the cost involved is very little and you would save a lot of money on going out for food.
There was entertainment every evening which was fairly amusing at times but the kids enjoyed it. Not so many British visitors, it mainly caters for the Europeans.
Overall very good value for money.
The only negative point to make is if you hire a car there is very little parking near the hotel and we had the misfortune of having our car towed away as we were parked illegally and had to pay a fine."
