"We have stayed at Hotel Sol Pelicanos Ocas for sixteen years. Each time on our return the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The food is great the entertainment is always good.
We always stay half board and cannot fault it.
Reading some reviews one would think that people are talking about another hotel."

"Me and my 2 friends booked a stay at the Sol Pelicanos in May just gone. As we arrived at reception the staff were miserable and unfriendly. After we paid for our room the staff ordered us to pay 50 euros each to cover any possible damages which could happen to the room while we were here. It is on a money return basis if you haven't made any damage. I don't think this is a bad idea because of the trouble that happens down in Benidorm but I think that this is a lot of money to ask for to cover
Once we paid and everything the staff said that we had to wait until 2PM to be able to access our room when 12 o'clock check in was stated on the website. So we had to wait 2 hours for that. Moving on..
Once we arrived in our room we automatically knew that the room wasn't as expected. The size, the flooring, the bathroom just the decorating in general was poor. But the balcony pool view was top notch.
The positive was that the balcony pool view was top notch and the WiFi could be used on more then one device.
Their was air con in the room but no suppose it wasn't working properly and was very loud.
Lastly, my opinion on inclusive drinks and food within the hotel. The food was nice in the buffet but think they need to change the selection of food on some days. The drinks were alright as long as you didn't have their cheap vodka. Also there variety of drinks on the inclusive menu was pathetic.
As you can probably tell it wasn't my cup of tea and I shall never Return back to that place.

"I have stayed here before a few years ago and it was ok but the pool was a big draw for the kids so came back.
However on my last trip my room was ransacked on my last day thankfully i had taken my safe key back so left my important bits and bobs in a friends safe who was staying longer.
The manager was less than helpful and gave me a print out saying my key was used to open the door at a time i was sitting in a bar with 10 others key in pocket and that was that.
Now it seems clear there are a LOT of people who have had the same problem "

thomas cook rep at sol pelicanos instant dismissal
"Myself disabled.my eight year old daughter stayed at Peicanos last week.enjoyed overall holiday.until i had to ask the Thomas cook rep at the hotel if he knew where the bus list was so we had our transfer from hotel to airport .not forgetting we were traveling alone.been perry who is the rep does not like to help.for one I am not his love as I was refereed to.he does not see tourists like myself as part of his job to help.the information i required was a quite simple direction to reception .this is where the list is situated for the transfer.he told me i was not with Thomas cook.i was .why stick a Thomas cook luggage label on my bag,also have the receipt from Thomas cook for my holiday.i think also my eight year old thinks this boy needs to go back too Thomas cook learning how to represent the company he works for .Thomas cook sol Pelicanos is one good hotel .why ruin it employing bad reps."

Short Stay March 2013 - A/I 2 adults
"Just got back from Sol Pelicans A/I. Food, hotel, Rooms and staff excellent. Visiting Entertainment Shows and the resident singer excellent, although the hotel resident staff quiz night was a let down. The usual towels on beds was not too much of a problem and you can get a sunbed any time of day (admittedly it was not peak season) . Bar shuts at 12 Prompt. Rooms clean and food and staff were brill, although you will always get some who complain. All in all things have improved since previous reviews.
Generally everything as expected offering a good place to stay. Only downside , as with most all inclusive hotels is the odd idiot who drinks too much and makes s fool of themselves (can't blame the hotel for the odd drunk!).
The only complaint was the poor and very slow check in upon arrival where we happened to arrive at the same time as a bunch of lads. Check in took ages due to only 2 staff at reception.(Hotel needs to examine their check in procedures and get more staff at reception when needed!)
To conclude we have stayed at most Benidorm hotel and this one is as good as you will get Happy holiday

"stayed in pelicanos end of jan 2013 very enjoyable staff pleasant food very nice pool area brilliant but all inc guests spoiled it by all day drinking and some came 2 dinner in quite a state singing banging on tables falling all over the place not what most people want 2 see when avin dinner staff didnt do anything 2 avert it either why cant ocas do all inc and pelicanos accomodate the rest rooms are very basic but spotless "

"i stayed at the pelicanos 15 years ago and was pleased then so booked there again for me and my partner. its in a great place 5 mins away from the bars and just a few mins more to the beach. on arrival the reseptionist was a bit miserable and had a bit of a disagreement with the family infront as they had put two of them in pelicanos and one in the ocas which they wasnt happy about. cant say i spoke to any other staff to comment (as we didnt spend much time there other than to eat or sleep) except when we went for our meals the lady on the door was always plesent. the room was clean but small, not much floor space, only 2 drawers and one chair. the bathroom also not much room for personal items and the bath very small and struggled to stand up once in. the food was very good however i do prefer boiled/baked or mash potatoes to fried which on a couple of days this wasnt available and better choice of veg as i try to eat healthy even when on hol, all other food great. activitys for kids in the day and entertainment in the evening, great pool."

just returned from what used to be one of the best hotels in benidorm. How times have changes.
The this hotel has gone from one of the best in resort to a copycat immitation of the solano hotel it is portrayed as in the hit show benidorm.
The staff are extremely miserable and unhelpful unless you are spanish in which case you will love this hotel now.
All inclusive guests are looked upon as a lower class of guest. The service you receive from them will not be service with a smile and the food, had you asked me when i stayed at the hotel earlier in the year before all inclusive came on line fully i would have said it was excellent in every way, now however all guests pay the price for all inclusive guests staying here with very poor cold, tinned, reheated , repetative food served in a very cafe style environment and with staff who may as well not be there at all.
If you are lucky enough to get a drink with your meal dont expect to be served it, you need to queue forever to have the privelidge of paying for a drink to help wash down the food.
The atmosphere at the hotel has changed badly since all inclusive arrived here, although i stayed half board some other guests informed me that all inclusive doesnt infact mean what it sounds like at this hotel.
Many guests also expressed worries over thefts from rooms in recent months however i didnt see any of this myself and used the hotels safe box offering.
Whatever has gone wrong at this hotel it needs fixing fast before it is too late.
This hotel is at the expensive end of the hotel market and should reflect this in the service it provides.
On the good side to the hotel it is extremely well located and very clean.
This hotel would have always been my first choice in benidorm but im afraid now due to price and service other options are startig to look good.
I'm quite sure a sol melia rep will put a comment on screen saying they are sorry they did not have the chance to put things right while on my holiday, well im sorry but you did have the chance when i booked and paid and stayed at the hotel.
This was your chance to provide the service and quality usually assosciated with solmelia

abso shocking room robbed while we slept
"just back from a weeks stay in this hotel would never return holiday from hell our safety deposit box was broken into while we slept in our beds took key and cleared safe they must have had a master key as there was no broken entry. When appraoched staff didnt do anything about it had to get a taxi to alicante for new passports would never advise anyone to go this hotel as its unsafe and staff are so unhelpful didnt even call police "

"stayed for 5 nights all inclusive....no it isn't. You have to pay extra for water at meal times...yes water, unless you want tap water. Only three cocktails available on the all inclusive stay. They have something called Gold which gives more included but this is above all inclusive.
Pool....best ever, no complaints other than people still put towels on beds early and leave them there while they go away and then come back hours later. Not all sunbeds have shade so grab a one under the fixed parasols if you can. Pool bar not open in June...???
Meals....no different to any other spanish hotel. If you like your food then go self catering and eat out. Its cheap and nicer than hotel food. Example...full english breakfast in any bar or cafe will typically cost around 2 euros and really much nicer than the hotel. Also you can queue up like in a dinner hall at school for self serve meals in hotel, quality not that good most of the time.
Rooms....basic but clean, noisy in the corridors, people shouting and banging doors at all hours. Close bathroom door as toilets flushing can be heard all night. Tiny balcony....small table and two chairs and thats it.
Staff...ignorant spanish idiots
Entertainment....had to go out each night to get away from the mundane boredom.
Alcohol....don't be drawn into thinking all inclusive is anything special..all alcohol so obviously watered down....only three cocktails available.
Cockroaches....giant size and plently....I swear they are taking over the bar area, right near the childrens play area.
Internet....2 euro for 15 minutes...when its on.

"Just got back from SolPelicanos A/I. Food, hotel, Rooms and staff Brill. Right then. You cant have snacks at the pool bar??? You have to go to the restraunt for any kind of food. Unless you pay for it. You cant have any sort of drink or food in the bar downstairs. Unless you pay for it. So if it happens to rain and you av to stay inside i dont have a clue where you would get the free drinks as they only serve them outside. For A/I. Also if ur A/I they serve you with half glasses. you can however have as many as you like. If you want a pint you have to pay for it. Just under 4 euros a pint. Strongbow that is mind. If ur A/I you can av it for 2.65 euros.Shows r ok. nobody goes down early to put towels on beds and you can get a bed any time of day. Bar shuts at 12 Prompt. Rooms clean and food and staff were brill. Although there were people who didnt think much of the food/??????????????? All in all i and the other 6 of us ad a BRILL time. Any Questions feel free to ask and you will get an honest answer as i see it."

nice hotel...shame about the miserable staff
"I travelled as 1 in a party of 7 which meant we had booked 3 rooms....on arrival only 1 was ready....the second was ready 2 hours later and the 3rd over 3 hours after our arrival...like the previous person mentioned the rooms with 3 beds was made up of 1 camp bed....ours had half the slats broken and literally touchin the floor...we asked for replacement...when we checked it they had just fixed the same bed badly which broke again but we used that way in the end! the cleanliness of the hotel was very good...the food was a nice selection .. not always cooked correctly..the dinner hall is a bit of a free for all..tables not cleared whilst u eat.. very messy and unorganised..the hotel is in a great position very close to the beach, shops and night life... just a great shame that the staff are soooo unhelpful..unfriendly...miserable and never smile. In my opinion of benidorm itself they r very anti the english...very sad when u want to enjoy a holiday that you have saved all year for! during our stay my aunts finger got shut in a toilet door by another holiday maker due to no locks on the toilet door and the top of her finger was hanging off....an ambulance was called ...it arrived 45 mins later....they then took her to a medical centre...didnt look at her finger for over 4 hours until we had got a number of taxis to and from the clinic to produce her travel insurace...after looking at it they said we needed a main hospital they pointed at the exit and told us to call a taxi...after speakin to some of the english performers they said they dont like helping the english...if it was anything life threating u would not make it out there! it was 6 hours before my aunt recieved any treatment...they refused to numb the area and told her to come back the following day for pain killers...absolutly disgusted me!!
its a very sexual town...its ok but kids must b out of bars by 1am due to live strip shows! happy hours only include local spirits...which i thought was fine until i tried them and realised gin.vodka. both taste of cheap pernod...whisky very strange the only local spirit i would recommend is the peach schnapps!! most of the local bars are good and welcomin...highly recommend jokers and the loch ness....avoid the red lion like the plague...very rude staff :-("
