"There were six of us in our group and what a brilliant time we had, rooms were basic but clean, clean towels and sheets daily. The food you could not fault and if there wasn’t something that you liked then you must be really picky.

Entertainment every night in the hotel and the night life down the town was brilliant. Being AI there was plenty of drink flowing. All the hotel staff were really helpful. We could not fault this holiday and will definitely be back soon.

"If you’ve just booked to stay here, please try and get your money back now.

We went as a family of five for Xmas and the New Year 06/07.

There was a problem with the lift's and they broke down with us in them.

We asked for alternative accommodation but were told by the rep ALL hotels in Benidorm were full!

We agreed to stay a few nights until he could arrange something else as. We had to carry the pram up and down stairs as we would not use such a shoddy lift.

When we got to the room it was small, dark and dirty, the toilet was disgusting and had not seen bleach in a year!

Our room was nowhere near big enough for 4 people and a cot. We had no wardrobe space so used the space under the dresser for the children’s clothes. I wiped this over first with a wet wipe, but to my disgust the wet wipe was then black.

I could go on and on but the top and bottom was this hotel is no more than a hostel, let alone star rated.

In the end, due to the rep persisting that ALL hotels were full, we walked into the first 4 star hotels we came across and booked and paid for this ourselves.

The food at the Magic Cristal is cold, recycled, and had plenty of unwanted cockroaches roaming around in the dining area.

The staff are rude and only wanted to sort out the Spanish guests problems it would seem. All in all a disaster, hardly worth the £2600 paid.

Needless to say, we won’t be going back and advise anyone else who has booked for 2007, PLEASE reconsider your choice if you can."

"First and definitely the last time I will be going to mainland Spain. My family and I (9 of us in total), have just spent 2 weeks of pure torture in this hotel. The hotel was dirty and the staff were rude and unhelpful (including our travel rep). This hotel is an all inclusive hotel. Here are just some of the things that happened during our stay....

The hotel has 5 bars (4 of these closed at midnight and you were asked to leave these areas at this time - you weren't able to sit outside the hotel as the staff brought in the outside tables and chairs, you weren't allowed to sit in these areas even after the bars had closed). You either had to go down to the dungeon to listen to karaoke/disco music which went on until 8:00am, or you had to go to your room.

Rooms were dirty - maid service unbelievable. One young couple on the same floor as myself had complained that the children's bed in their room had a large stain on the mattress, and that they wanted the mattress changing. A maid came up, sprayed the offending mattress with something and then put some clean sheets on it. Children’s swimming pool was closed down due to a 5 year old being taken to hospital following her being in the water and contracting something from it.

Staff in the restaurant were extremely rude and bad mannered - it was like being in a cattle market. The hotel boasts a sauna (as advertised in our summer brochure), this had been closed for 12 months. It also boasted a gymnasium on the 7th floor - this was rarely ever open and when it was, all it held was approx 3 pieces of equipment.

There was no lifeguard round the pool area, and the pool area was very slippy and dangerous underfoot. There was no poolside snack bar, if you wanted anything to eat you had to traipse down 8 flights of stairs to the hotel restaurant to get something to eat outside of breakfast, lunch or dinner times.

There were supposed to be 10 hotels in this chain, after traipsing around looking for them we found 2 of them had closed down and had been for 4 years (again these were advertised in our holiday brochure). The hotel has 4 lifts 2 which held 4 people and the other 2 held 12. These were never available and when they were they were used by children/teenagers who just wanted to ride up and down in them.

I witnessed a young father who had waited more than 3/4 of an hour for a lift before finally giving up the ghost and carrying his baby in the pushchair up 4 flights of stairs to their room. Now you may ask why we didn't speak to our holiday rep about any of the above...we did. She wasn't interested - in fact I think if we saw her twice throughout our whole stay we were lucky.

When you went to her with complaints she was rude and arrogant, definitely lacking in customer service skills. All in all this was the worst holiday any of us have ever had, and to cap it all on the day of our departure we were sat on the coach to the airport for 1 hour and 35 mins (a journey which should only have taken 40 mins tops), and then when we got to the airport we were delayed 3 hours. I have never been so happy to come home and go back to work.

"Treated as second class because hotel full of Spanish. No entertainment over xmas. Tour rep did nothing nor did the receptionists.

Meals were fine but had the usual battle to get a table. New Year entertainment a degree better but really for people with children don’t go there as they will be bored silly. After 2 weeks we were glad to be home. Rooms were cleaned half heartedly, and mirrors never wiped.

Grapes from the balcony above lay on ours for the whole week after New Year. Not be back to that hotel."

"Went for a weekend break with three friends the hotel was excellent food great staff very friendly I had read some very negative reviews on several sites we were very impressed.

We visited one of the sister hotels for Sunday lunch could not fault a thing we will be going again resort great for retail therapy.

The whole concept of all inclusive is addressed very well there is an excellent choice every meal time the hot is hot the salads are crisp and chilled. Drinks are good quality.

Most of the other guests were there for the winter but were good company especially the lady with her 73 year old toy boy they were still in the night club downstairs when we had to admit defeat and head for bed."

"Hello people! I went here dreading my stay after reading some bad comments on another website.

When I got there first impressions were good and them impressions just continued to grow and got better and better. The hotel itself is very clean and cleaners clean your room everyday unless you don’t want them to.

Room are quite basic but haven’t everything you would need in and very spacious.

The food is great and had a wonderful variety for all ages.

The staff are lovely and always there to help even the ones who don’t speak English try to help. The waiters are great especially Ali, Frenando and Beni. The entertainers are great with all ages from new born to the older generation as we’d call grandmas.

Me as a teenager myself I know we are very fussy and I loved this holiday and everything about it all entertainment is great.

There are 5 different bars, which open at different times throughout the day starting at 10am and closing at 2am.

The pool is covered but not indoor it’s great but is quite cold. The pool is situated on 7th floor and can get very hot when sitting up there you can get a good tan up there in 15 mins.

The amigos hotel enables you to access all of the other amigos hotels and use their facilities there is also a free bus service, which takes you to these hotels everyday.

We are most certainly booking for next year. Have a good holiday. Kylie xxxx"

"We have stayed at this hotel on three occasions and each time we have had a very enjoyable time.

The staff have always been really nice and friendly the food good, the rooms clean. On each visit there has been alot of Spanish also holidaying there, I have read so many reports about them being rude etc. This has not been our experience if you make an effort to smile and be polite as a rule you will receive the same in return.

Unbelievably they are also entitled to have holidays and enjoy staying in their own country and confronted by ignorant, loud, rude British people who think they should have the run of a hotel no wonder they appear to be rude.

"Food very good served buffet style but too much to pick from it caters for children to. Breakfast you could pick from a cooked English/continental, cereal or soaked meats etc, your lunch and tea time meals were also hot and cold choices very very good. We went at the start of the November fiesta and the only complaint we have is the noise, if we were placed at the back of the hotel I think we would have been ok but we got room 107 which is on the first floor at the front of the hotel above reception and we felt like we were sat on the pavement.

On the first day of the fiesta (Saturday) they lined the street outside with chairs and the noise was constant from 10.30pm through until about 6am very loud fireworks that sounded like bombs and someone with a drum started banging it at about 4.45am.

The hotel was very clean, staff very nice, position to beach wasn’t too bad but was on a bit of a hill but it’s not too bad I think we got more than our moneys worth I would recommend this hotel but if you want to use your bed to sleep ask for a room at the back when booking!"

"Hotel was very poor and didn’t cater for kids at all.

Pool is very small, not much bigger than a bath........., meals; entertainment seemed to cater for Spanish guests more. We went via "amgos" which meant we could use one of ten in our all inclusive package so would strongly recommend "Excalibur", for a crackin' site, crackin' pool and fantastic staff.

Benidorm is Benidorm, Blackpool in the sun, with even more Scots."

"Myself a friend and her two children (9and 14) booked an all inclusive holiday costing us £2000 for the week, we thought in the long run it would save us money not having to buy ices, crisps, nuts , slush puppies and bottled water but all these had to be paid for.

On arrival we were told we couldn’t have our pass until the following morning we complained and was given one so we could have a meal that evening(when you book in a pass should be available)

Our room didn’t have a balcony which we asked for on booking, the satellite TV had one English channel BBC news or sport, the fridge didn’t work, air conditioning so noisy we couldn’t sleep, only one electric socket out of three worked and the tea and coffee making facilities(a kettle, two cups ,two sachets of coffee and two tea bags, for four of us, no milk!!!!)

The cup I’d poured coffee into was still there six days later!!!!!

Bed linen never change and towels only once, a sign in bathroom tells you to leave dirty towels in bath which we did to find they were hung back up.

The lifts where packed every minute of the day as was reception, a cattle market comes to mind, just couldn’t move.

The pool and bar area was an accident waiting to happen, a slight slope to the pool lead to many children” going for a six”

and a glass door leading to the rooms.

After the first day we felt really “RIPPED OFF” but just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse we decided to go on a “free” night out from hotel to a medieval night, picked up at 8pm arrived at 8.45pm,meal at 9.15pm then had our drinks snatched off us and back at hotel for 10.20 pm.

On arrival we were asked if we would like our photos taken five euros each said okay but would only allow two people per photo ,the Spanish had six people on their photos.(Ripped off again!!!!)

Entertainment,(BEADLE IS ABOUT!!!!!)

Only good thing about the hotel is the food, really nice but you have a long wait if you go after 7.30pm, gets very busy.

To finish off our holiday we boarded the plane and was told it hadn’t been cleaned as the vac had broken and the pilot would loose his slot if they waited for another (one vac at Alicante???)good job we can have a laugh, “FAULTY TOWERS REVISITED”"
