Can't Wait For Next Time.
"This was Our ftirst visit to the Corona Del Mar,but it will not be Our last. We were on a one Month Stay. The Hotel in my opinion is in the best part of Benidorm, with a good quite Beach, and a wonderful new Promonade that is flat and safe. Elderly or Handicaped should have no problems. It is also well supported with local Bars and Shops. We found the Food top class in choice and quality with very few complaints from anyone. The Rooms are large and well furnished, with a modern Bathroom. I would recomend taking the option of the Sea View, not just for the view alone, but also fror the benifit of almost all day Sun on Your balcony. This Hotel has ample fast Lifts(Although Small) so no long frustrating waits. The Hotel is well run,and one of the cleanest We have ever been in. The Staff will go out of their way to oblige and help in anyway They can. The Hotel has a small inside Pool and of course a larger outside one,but this has no value to Winter Visitors. The TV in the Rooms is a modern flat type, but the only English programe of note that is available is Sky News. Although We enjoyed Our stay here, as You will see frtom the above. It must be pointed out that this Holel is used mostly by Spanish,Dutch,Germans, etc so of course the entertainment, drinks, etc.refelect this. While Spanish Football is available on the TV, There nis no English Soccer, and it would be nice to have just one English draught Beer on tap in the Bar. i also noted that the German and Spanish Daily Papers were always available at the Bar, but the British had been taken away to the Rooms ........Ah Well ! But still can't wait for next Year"

"We, being a group of 4 adults aged around 60 years old have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Corona Del Mar in the Poniente part of Benidorm. To say this Hotel was fantastic would be an understatement. The whole accommodation is immaculate, We booked a sea view room and would recommend this as the sea views are great. The food is brilliant with loads of choices for all tastes, if there was anything not quite hot enough there is a microwave oven in the dining room, but we never had to use it. As it was the 10th March the pool was to cold to use but we did manage to spend some sunbathing time around the pool area which is very pleasant, there is an indoor heated pool, small but was very nice, next to it is a well equipped gym for the more energetic. The thing that went down well with the men folk was Tetley's beer on draught at the bar, as we do not like lager this was a real bonus. All in all great Hotel, accommodation, and food. Comfortable hotel, good facilities, great location
"My 10 year old son and I spent a week in this hotel at half term. The hotel is set back from the main road close to a busy junction. This was not a problem as the location is excellent - one block back from Poniente Beach, bus stops in close proximity, approximately 10 minutes walk to Benidorm Old Town and 15 minutes walk uphill to the railway station. There are currently major building works in close proximity to the hotel, (this was not a surprise as I was already forewarned). The adjoining Villa del Mar hotel is undergoing major refurbishment - a large crane immediately adjoins the outdoor swimming pool area. Also the promenade along Poniente Beach is being re-constructed - when complete this will enhance the hotel's location further. These works did not detract from our holiday experience. We were happy with the bedroom. It was of a good size with a sofa and plenty of storage space. The bathroom and balcony were also of reasonable size. The room was comfortable, clean and maintained to a high standard. There was a small clothes drier on the balcony, which was useful for hanging out wet swimwear. On arrival my son could not find the TV remote - we subsequently found you needed to leave a 6 Euro returnable deposit at reception. We did not book a sea view room but got a partial view of the sea inbetween the rather ugly rear elevation of a block of flats and the gutted Villa del Mar hotel. Other non seaview rooms at the rear of the hotel overlook the car park, some re-cycling bins and a Burger King. So if you intend to spend time sitting on the balcony, (which we didn't), it was probably worth booking a proper seaview room. The reception staff were both very helpful and professional. My son and other children of similar ages enjoyed the computers (3⬠an hour). The keyboards' legs were broken, one computer was lacking a mousemat so some minor investment is required! The restaurant was buffet service throughout and the food quality and variety was good. Drinks were reasonably priced - â¬6 for a perfectly acceptable bottle of house wine. My only criticism was the limited vegetarian choice. I do not eat meat but as I eat fish, (which was very good), this was not a problem. However there were several vegetable based stews, which looked very appetising, but were 'ruined' by the addition of small pieces of meat. Outside there was a pool with a slide, spa pool, childrens' pool and play area. Although not a problem in February, I can imagine this area could become crowded in summer. There was also table tennis and a pool table, (in a rather dilapidated condition - more minor investment needed!). The small indoor pool, which incorporated spa pool area, provided a very welcome facility. Swimming hats are compulsory and pool towels are available free of charge at the adjoining gym. The evening entertainment was pleasant. However the smoking area in the bar, (which was the only smoking area in the hotel), was rather rather large - a much larger no smoking section was needed. In the afternoon there was a pianist but you had to sit in the smoking area to listen to the music. The hotel had a prominently displayed environment policy. The re-cycling bins for plastics and papers close to reception were a good idea. I would be more than happy to return to this hotel."

"We go to Benidorm every year and this year stayed at the Corona Del Mar. The whole hotel was very clean. Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard by friendly maids who all seemed to speak some English which we were impressed with. The towels were changed daily and the bed linen was also changed regularly. The rest of the staff were all as good and friendly although you have to mention a couple of the waitresses in the restaurant who when you first met them seem a little off. We can assure you that they were all brilliant, very efficient and hard working. The inside restaurant can get a little warm but the terrace was super for all the meals. Once a week there is a Gala night which was nice with free Cava and a glass of normal red or white wine. The food was very good and varied but one comment is the hot veg was limited and not always hot. Apart from that small comment very good for every meal. Bread and butter pudding a particular favourite. The evening entertainment in the hotel is your typical Benidorm flamenco shows and magicians etc. There are a couple of people to avoid. These are the scratch card people that you find in many places, people carrying out various surveys and the pea and potato guys. Keep well away from them all they are there to rip you off without a doubt. Some bars we can recommend are Los Ranches on the Levante sea front a Spanish bar with good coffee reasonable priced and certainly one waiter whose English is faultless. The Coach and Horses, a English bar by Parc Elche good for the soaps if that is your thing. At the far end of Poinente beach there is a British bar âGinger nutsâ which serves good coffee and yes a ginger biscuit, very reasonable. A bar in the old town worth a mention is âTiffanysâ. It is like someone's front room with a bar and small stage but very friendly only hold 40 people so you are advised to book. We saw a female Shirley Bassey impressionist, very good well worth a visit to say hello to Steve and Erica. Normal priced drinks as well. The Spanish are currently in the process of altering the promenade on the Poinente side of town. The project is set to last for about 2 years as they are widening the prom and also lowering it down to beach level as you can imagine there is some noise and disruption. There is also major internal renovation to the Villa Del Mar about 25 metres from the Corona Del Mar. At times the noise from this was terrible with rubble being thrown down a chute into skips. To be fair the hotel would move anybody from the front superior sea view rooms with sun all day into the rear of the hotel over looking Burger king and the cemetery and no sun. We stayed put as we went out for most of the day but complaints were many and Portland/Thomson will be getting lots of written complaints we feel that we should have been warned. Overall a super hotel on par now for cost with the other 4 stars with super staff and a good resort with something for everyone. Once the prom is completed and the refurbishment of the nearby hotel finished, it is a super location with the beach just across the road. We will return again no problem to the Corona Del Mar."

"Just as we were beginning to think what a nice hotel we were staying we were the victims of a burglary. Nothing was taken from drawers or wardrobe except the safety deposit box and but we had taken our passports, credit cards and money with us because we were out for the day. So wherever you go on holiday think about what you leave in any safety deposit box."

"Had one week in this 4 star hotel, very clean, fab reception, food not 4 star and menu very basic, beautiful pool area, loads of spare loungers and not over crowded. The hotel is well positioned for everything. The beach, bars, busses, taxis, the hotel is very reasonable for drinks. Only one drawback, the waiters, same old story, miserable is a understatement. We will go back to this hotel but it will be bed and breakfast, another reason for selecting this hotel is that it is in a quieter part of Benidorm far enough away from the drunken British plebs that do their best to ruin your holiday in the Levante side. Sunshine.co.uk were very good and I will use them again."

"We had booked to go in the Gran Hotel Bali. Got a rude phone call from Direct holidays saying this hotel or nothing. We had no choice as the whole family was so looking forward to going on holiday. When we arrived at Manchester airport we got checked in and got on the plane. For the first time in many years of flying My Travel Airways the plane left on time. When we arrived at the airport the Reps didnât know what they were doing. They didnât even get told that we werenât in the Gran Hotel Bali as they overbooked it! Got a Sea facing room, but you couldnât see the sea because of a block of flats in front of our window. Asked rep if we could move and he said NO! The double bed wasnât a double bed, 4 people in a very small room. When we got back home we rang and sent loads of letters to Direct Holidays and we NO reply of any sort. Will never go with my travel or direct holidays ever again! If you want a good holiday without rudeness of staff then donât stay at this hotel or go with them."

"The room we had was at the back of the Hotel over looking the Cemetery. The sun never gets to the back of the Hotel and it is in the shade constantly. When you are on holiday it's nice to have a better view than a cemetery and a bit of sun! We decided to pay the supplement and changed rooms to one with a sea view. It was well worth it and I would recommend doing this, I really felt like my holiday had started once we moved rooms! The Hotel is clean and gives the illusion of grandeur from the outside but once inside the rooms are basic. For a Hotel which has been awarded 4* status I would expect more. Our bedroom carpet was marked in places and the walls were dirty in places. The restaurant is nice and extremely clean and it serves lovely food. I think the best thing about the Hotel to be honest is the restaurant. Gala night in particular was wonderful. Drinks in the restaurant and in the bar are very reasonably priced. The location of the Hotel is terrible. It is a good 10-15 minute walk to the onset of the Old Town. I wish we'd known this before we booked. We would not return to this Hotel. We did not like the location one single bit. The rooms are basic and the fact that half of them never get any sunshine and have a terrible, depressing view all adds up to the fact that this is a very overrated Hotel indeed. "

"We went to this hotel in October 2005 and it was a great hotel. Except... When we got there it was round about 9:30pm. We got our room number and our card and went to our room & we asked for a key for the safe but they said we would have one later that night. Once we got up and went in it was very nice and clean but when we went over to the balcony doors we noticed that they were broken and our view was over a car park. We called up a member of staff to fix the doors and he couldn't do it. We complained that we would not have this room with broken doors because it was easy to jump down from a wall onto our balcony and we were not leaving our luggage and hand luggage just sitting in the room with ipods, phones and digital cameras in them because we wanted to have our dinner before the restaurant closed. The member of staff brought us back down to the reception area and gave us the key to a new room. We went up to our new room and it was also clean and the doors were not broken and our view was looking over the beach and the sea. It was a great view. We left our hand-luggage in the bathroom and went for dinner. Once we got to the restaurant we noticed that there was not a very good variety of food and it didn't really have a taste to it. So we werenât too impressed with the food. After dinner, we went to reception and we got our safe key. We went up to our room and put all out valuables in the safe and left to go and look at Benidorm. When we got back we went for a drink in the bar and also the bar was very clean and the entertainment was good. This hotel was great and everything was clean. The food just wasn't good. Incase others don't like the food they have a Burger King right beside the hotel and a McDonalds across the town."

"We booked this Hotel for February as we always go to Benidorm in Feb-March as its quiet. The hotel looks quite grand from its photos but please be aware that it is not, the hotel is on a very busy junction in the old town, its a refurbished old hotel, it looks smart on entering and have to be honest that it is immaculate and everything is new. Please donât book a standard room like we did as you look over the rear of the hotel and look onto a burial ground, that is not so bad but the sun never gets to the rear of the hotel so is in the shade all the time. The room was very spacious and all new furniture, there is a minibar, which was nice after a long drive from the airport, the prices were good also (2 Euros a beer). The hotel has an outdoor pool but what sold it for us was an indoor pool also as its too cold to swim outdoors in February. The restaurant is where we made our minds up that we would never return to this hotel, the quality of the food was excellent, the standards were also excellent and to be honest it has won loads of awards to kitchen standards but it was too bland with only 1 veg choice each day, we were on full board and ended up eating out due to repetitive foods with no flavour. If you want to find somewhere really special to eat and have a hire car which I recommend, Take your selves off into the mountains and go to a little village called Tarbena, there is a magical restaurant built into the hillside called Sa Canterella, they do set 3 course meals with wine for 15 euros and in the summer have a large swimming pool you can use after eating there. All youâre best in choosing this hotel. "

"we arrived at the hotel late at night to be told that our booking was not on the system. we were therefore advised to take dinner while they looked into the matter further. The resturant was cafeterria style with a limited selection of food..most of which was very bland and tasteless. It reminded me somewhat of school dinners if i am being honest. After finishing our meal we were advised by the reception that our booking was not on the system as the supplier we had booked our holiday though had gone out of business and since they had not received any money from the supplier we would not be entitled to stay at the hotel. Far from being sympathic to the predicment we were in the hotel staff found the sitution quite amusing and told us that we would have to pay more money if we wanted to stay at their hotel, at one stage they even told us to call the supplier to get the money for them. We were not permitted to use their telephone and when we asked them to write a letter for insurance purposes they refused to provide the full information about the situation. I have travlled extensivly throughtout the world and i can honestly say that this has been the worst level of customer service i have experienced on any of my travels. The level of service was abismal."

Fantastic holiday at The Corona Del Mar in Spain
"My sister and our 4 daughters had a lovely week in Benidorm staying at the Corona Del Mar. It was perfect for us - the rooms a good size for 3, and so clean! We were there from 17-24 December 2005, and it was the perfect place to relax before Christmas. The hotel was very quiet - not a lot going on in the evenings, but the atmosphere was great. We had full board, and we looked forward to meal times. The menu was quite varied, and plenty of food for all. All the staff were very polite and friendly. We used the indoor swimming pool several times - it felt like our own private pool. The location of this hotel was great as it is right by the beach, and a nice stroll takes you to the shopping centre. The weather was beautiful for December, we even spent some time on the beach. I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing break by the sea, at a reasonable price!"
