"The Joya was an excellent choice, my wife and i stayed for a week in the middle of September 08. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this hotel, the rooms and the hotel were spotlessly clean and the food was very good, the staff were very freindly and helpful, We cannot understand what people find to whinge about... We also cannot understand why it is only rated a 2 star, it in our opinion should be at least 3star, we have been to many countries and stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels, not as good as the Joya, so take no notice of the whingers and be rest assured that the Joya is worth evrey penny....We will definately be returning to this hotel. Enjoya your stay. Den and Val.."

basic but nice!!!
"Ive recently returned from spending a week with my boyfriend at the hotel joya. As we arrived i was a bit worried of the location. However i was pleasently suprised as we entered as the hotel was lovely and clean looking. the hoel room was basic and the beds were hard but again it was clean and maids came daily... we had a lovely view of the pool area which was also nice, could do with more sunbeds though. The food at the hotel was not great but it was edable if you did decide to eat in... which we usually ate out. The only other down fall was that it was abit out of the way... everything was in walking distance but coming home from the new town (the square), well i would suggest getting a taxi as it only cost 4 euros and personally i was never in any fit state to walk it. other than that we had a fab holiday...what can i say.. cheap and cheerful!!!"

"The rooms were basic but comfortable with good views of the pool and surrounding area. Staff are extremely friendly to British tourists if you avoid being condescending and arrogant, I found them very pleasant, accomodating and they remember us when we return. It is a mere 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach downhill with shops and restauraunts roundabout. Pool area is gorgeous and the restaurant/bar opens up onto terrace which serves lovely food and large variety of drinks. The dining room is large and food very nice with something new every day to try. There is an ice cream bar right across the road called Chicho's with friendly staff and Chicho himself welcomes us back each year with a catch up chat and a coffee. I couldn't have asked for more in this hotel. I will continue to stay here year after year."

"We have just returned from a 4 day stay at the Joya. We booked off the internet for £40 each for the whole stay. We were a group of 6 women the youngest being 46 and the eldest 65. The hotel was spotless and the staff were very helpful. Rooms were basic, with maid service every day. The hotel is a little way from the front but Taxis were readily available at reasonable prices. I would certainly recommend to anyone who wants a cheap clean place to stay for a few days."

"Just got back with the wife, have travelled fairly extensively. And for this price £92-50 for a weeks half board, you won't find better.Downside is Stag & Hen parties stoping there get a bit boisterous, but not all that bad after being spoken too. Food is same every night. Fish, Meat, and chips. But at this price eat out!. The pool is big and deep, the room was fairly big, and kept clean. The towels are changed everyday, a good job really they are so thin. The location is in the residential area right in the middle of Benidorm. at the top of a steadily getting steeper hill, alright coming down. But when going back it's taxi time, especially when lubricated. Will definitely go back"

For anyone on a tight budget,
"We stayed in the Joya in August 05, The hotel is mainly for the Spanish, and they were not very friendly. The food was not very good, and you were expected to set your own table and clear up after your meal. The good things about the Joya are : the rooms are large and very clean, the pool is also very clean and plenty of loungers.I would recommend this hotel to someone who is on a tight budget. One other point is it is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties, the hotel is 20 mins. from the beach and up a steep hill. You can get a taxi the cost from the beach is 5 euroes."
