Horrible hotel with horrible staff, food and accommodation
"Absolutely horrible hotel and staff. A party of 14 with 2 ladies in their 70s. Treated like second class citizens. Of all the hotels I have stayed in this is up there as the worst. Issued with a letter on arrival headed WARNING. Absolutely ridiculous. Horrible hotel, horrible staff, and horrible people. Receptionist and barman so rude. I'm back in 2 weeks staying at the Flash. NOT A 4* HOTEL
"As a party of 4 we booked to stay for 2 weeks via JET2 in the AVENIDA HOTEL as we wanted a4* with good location. We entered the hotel & checked in - fine we were given rooms 118 & 119 --118 not too bad but 119 had furniture that was 20 years old it was dirty & scratched. When night time came & we went to bed at 10pm all was ok at first then at about midnight the lorry came to collect the cardboard , then at 1am another came to collect general rubbish ,then an hour later another came to empty the bottle bank the n the hotel staff took their bin in
with no consideration for the customers banging the bin & the doors and from then on for the rest of the night until 7.30 am the revelers were coming from the clubs shouting & kicking the bins and making hell of a noise.
Some of the restaurant staff are disrespectful.
There is more but to sum up ;;- If you want a 2* (not 4*)hotel near the beach. only need 2 hours sleep per night, like a lot of noise and don't mind eating your evening meal with holiday reps from other hotels on the next table talking on their phone and youths with baseball caps on (from the apartments across the road)whilst you are supposed to be enjoying a meal ----THEN GO TO THE AVENIDA HOTEL"

"We have been here many times as this is our favorite Benidorm Hotel. The evening entertainment was very good - look out for the monkey-man and the quick-change lady - unbelievable! The hotel is spotless, the staff are excellent and very friendly. Regular evening entertainment with excellent keyboard players for dancing. A very special mention for Esperanza (Hope) the Emcee. She tries really hard to please everyone and in spite of the pressure is always smiling and coping well. The only down side is the drop-off point - about 1/3 mile away and you may not get a balconies room when arriving - however the hotel can usually fix this within a couple of days."

"This is our second visit to the Avenida Hotel. It is ideally located within the charming old town. The hotel boasts amenities of jacuzzi, sauna, gym etc. There are day time functions like a tour of the kitchen, line dancing and Spanish lessons. Evening entertainment is provided in the bar/lounge where you may smoke because the lounge is on a seperate level than the restaurant.
Rooms are spacious and spotless, they are cleaned daily. The bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer, soap and shampoo for your use.
There is a rooftop pool with free sunbeds, the view out to the sea is stunning.
Breakfast is buffet with everything you would expect in a 4* hotel. Evening meal is superb too with a selection of meats and fish as well as a vegetarian option. The only downside being that when the hotel is full the restaurant is too small to cope. We had to queue at the door, then queued again to get our food. On our previoyus occasion the hotel was quieter and we had far less hassle.
The staff ar friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Though our room overlooked bars and shops we were not perturbed by street noise at all.
In all this is a very good 4* hotel and w would recommend it, though in future maybe at a quieter time when it is less busy."

"Avenida Hotel is in an ideal spot for both old town and Levante area.
The hotel is superb and staff etc are great (apart from crabbit chef). The room we had did not have a balcony and did not have a view but it was still a good room. The rooms are so quiet you cannot help relaxing.
The food was brilliant at all meals and the drink was reasonably priced, 5 euro's for a nice bottle of rose.
The night life was good, can be quiet at old town or busy and lively at Levante we enjoyed both.
This is my 2nd time at this hotel and will go back."

Quite surprised, very nice, can't wait to go again!!!
"My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel was a bit of a trek from where the coach dropped us off, but when we arrived it was superb. The rooms were cleaned everyday, and all the staff were friendly and polite. The food was quite basic, but varied and you could tell it was 4 star but the quality. Thankfully you didn't get chips with every meal, and the atmosphere was very pleasent. Can't wait to go again, and don't know why theres negative reviews. Was lovely..."

Dont be afraid of Avenida
"We stayed in Avenida for a week and found it to be a very nice place, in spite of some of the negative things we had read in other reviews. The location is great only 150 yards from the beach and close to the shops and sights of the old town. Much more Spanish than the New Town and hotel entertainment caters for locals. However plenty of entertainment close by and if you want the karaoke and Brit pubs of the New Town they are only 15 minutes stroll away. The rooms are adequate but only had one power socket close to the television but an adaptor was available from reception. Bring your own kettle and teabags. Very clean with maid service every day. There can be noise from the street up to 1.00 a.m. but hey your in the middle of things so it goes with the territory. Food was good, choices at both breakfast and dinner sometimes small queues but not that bad. Staff were friendly and helpful and any requests met instantly. On the day we left we vacated our room at 12 noon but came back at 5pm and were given key for courtesy room to shower and change. All in all a good hotel and would go back again. I think some people are just too hard to please!!"

"We stayed during August (me, my wife and our 11yr old son)having booked through a subsidary site of lastminute.com. The booking form suggested we had a balcony but when the booking ticket was printed it did not contain a reference to balcony.
I e-mailed the avenida to confirm but they never replied.
Guess what? When we arrived no balcony. Worse the room looked out at another balcony (I think from their apartment complex). These were so close we had to keep the curtain closed for privacy. We asked to be moved and were after 3 nights of a 7 night stay. This room was much nicer with balcony and sea view.
Overall good points: Reasonably clean, excellent position, food ok, air conditioning worked well (and it was hot), didn't experience any great queues for meals seen in other reports and it was high season.
Not so good: Depends on your room and lots don't have balconies, miniscule roof top pool, poor meal times (lunch 1- 3, evening meal 8- 10), tiny inadequate lifts.
We enjoyed our hol but proberly wouldn't stop here again unless we had a guaranteed balcony"

"we were on the 4th floor over the entrance we never encountered any noise, room was good for two people we knew of the size of the pool before we went if you look at all the info you will know this. personnally i would not take children here i found the location the hygene the quality of food and the staff excellent so much so that i am going back at the end of september. The dining room is small and there is a lot of spanish tourists there but that is a tip in itself, it depends what time you go whether it is busy or not in the dining room we went for our breakfast at 0955 hrs. it closes at 1000hrs. the staff were still putting out fresh trays of eggs and bacon out. I can not say enough about this excellent hotel."
