Great holidays 2011
" The rooms were very comfortable and everything was very clean. The pool area, the restaurant and de Bar is excellent, The breakfast was brilliant and we did eat dinner in the hotel every night and that was just as good. Overall, for the price, this is a great hotel and we will definately be back again. "

"The most relaxing holiday we've ever been on. The hotel was spotless, the food lovely and had a wide variety of dishes, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The majority of guests were Spanish and the place had a real family environment. It was quiet and peaceful and felt like Spain rather than sunny Essex. We were encouraged to try and communicate in our very basic Spanish and enjoyed giving it a go. We developed relationships with members of staff as well as guests and found that nothing was too much trouble for them. The trips on offer were excellent, the beach and pool relatively quiet."

We were bed and breakfast but didnt get down to buffet while we were there open from 8-9am so i cant comment on breakfast but we did eat sometimes in the afternoon and it was good. Pool nice size good bar with some games pool air hockey shop arcade very. very well presented hotel staff were very helpfull too. Very pleased If you want really good food you need to go out, this is our second time at mojacar and the good places to eat are up the old town for an italian stunning views sunsets and good alround romantic night, Mojos which is in the parque commercial which u can walk bout 20-25mins or taxi 5-7 euros reception will call for you too they do lovely brekfasts and afternoon snaks also cappochinos, in the same place bar mesa is a fantastic resturant great views good fish dishes, there is also a selection of shops in the parque with some good bargains.Just before the parque u have two beach bars nepuno which is also a resturant and pesos. Further up the playa u have a great beach with refreshment bars at a stones throw with more resturantes just the other side. good places there is eating wise titos, la cabana for the most amazing steak ever fantastic, bollywood for indain lovers very nice, and an mexican but i cant remeber the name but it next to titos. A good bar up there is Sitios good atmosphere and a good night out. to get to the playa it will cost about 10-12 euros but is good and same for the old town but it is worth the it. All in all agreat holiday. Hope this will help"

I have just come back from a weeks stay ...
"I have just come back from a weeks stay at the Best Hotel Mojacar and feel that I must defend it. After reading some terrible reviews the week before I went I was dreading it, the picture that had built up in my mind was of a remote hotel, in the middle of nowhere with no beach. Instead of looking forward to it I began to regret my booking. I stayed there with my Partner and our 8 year old son half board. The room had 2 king-size double beds, the shower/bathroom facilities were excellent, all toiletries were provided and towels and bed linen changed daily. We were facing the sea above the pool(s) which had plenty of sun loungers and shade if you needed it. The hotel was beautiful and clean and had everything in it including hairdressers and beauty salon. Breakfast was amazing so much to eat and as much as you could possibly eat. The only bad point was the hot water was not boiled enough to get a decent cup of tea in the mornings, so take a travel kettle if you like tea! The buffet was fresh every morning and there was a chef cooking fry ups and pancakes to order, it was excellent there was something for everyone. The bus stop was just outside the hotel and we caught the bus daily into Mojacar and visited many lovely bars and restaurants most nights all bar one night where we stayed at the hotel for our evening meal, it was superb, again lots of choice and lots to eat. The beach is over the road from the hotel and also there is a childrenâs park area. The beach was very clean and attended to daily. The sea was a bit rough and did get deep very quickly and children would need to be accompanied by an adult at all times. From the hotel we walked to Gurrucha which took about 40 minutes on the beach for most of the way and had Paella at one of the Restaurants along the front, itâs the best in Spain. Mojocar town takes about 15 minutes to get to on the bus but nearly 1/2 an hour back as the bus does a circular around the tiny village of Mojacar Pueblo, but itâs such a pretty village it was a joy to sit and be driven around for the week. This holiday is neither Torremolinos nor Benidorm, itâs not a British holiday in Spain, itâs a Spanish holiday, mixing with the Spanish who are very nice people and if you smile and say hello, they reciprocate. Its a relaxing holiday not for teenagers or people who don't enjoy walking. We ate at some very good restaurants in the order of how good we rated them Bellavista, Gaviota, Irish Rover, Hotel Mojacar, Isabella all in all 9/10 holiday. "

Have stayed at a couple of hotels along ...
"Have stayed at a couple of hotels along the Mojacar Playa area and this hotel was an excellent choice. The hotel is spotless, rooms clean and staff very friendly even though they are Spanish speaking it is quite easy to be understood. The food is excellent with freshly grilled fish or meat cooked whilst you wait. The buffet food is first class. No problems finding a sun lounger at any time of the day. A perfect hotel for a quite relaxing holiday, this is not suitable for anyone wanting a lively loud holiday. I would have no hesitation in booking another stay at this hotel, perfect for a relaxing and unwinding holiday. Hope it always stays this way!"

"Stayed at this hotel for the last week of August with my husband and 3 children and had an absolutely fantastic holiday! All the staff were friendly and helpful, most of them tried to speak English and in return we tried out our Spanish on them. The rooms were very clean and you couldn't fault the food at all. If you are looking for a typical British holiday abroad then this hotel is not for you. If you like to mix with the foreign people and culture then you couldn't stay at a better hotel. There are buses that run every 20 mins from outside the hotel which take you into Mojacar this costs 1 Euro per person wherever you wish to go on the route. There is also another bus that takes you to the water park for 1 Euro per person, very good value. We would return to this hotel like a shot and our children are pestering us to book again for next year! "

surprisingly fab having read previous reviews before we came
"check in was fast. our air con was broken but got fixed within 20 mins. may have sat tv, but no english channels except eurosport. we were in a room facing the stage which had its pros and cons! food was excellent if a bit salty-be warned. good variety every day(and we stayed 2 weeks) cant really do anything about the flies, its just a fact of life unfortunately. the site of the hotel is really out in the sticks, with very little to do nearby. pesonally i didnt like mojacar village, very overhyped i'd say and don,t bother with the sunday"market"its just a scuzzy boot sale with loads of english running it. garrucha however was a different story, we went to the market which was lovely, the fresh lemon slushes were to die for. we easily walked back to the hotel within 20 mins along the top of the shore(the bus never turned up)we even did the walk wih our 5yr old and 11yrold for something to do. water much better in garrucha than mojacar, but watch out for jellyfish in both places, my son got stung the first time he went in. you can also use all the "best"chain of hotels faccilitiesl free and we used the oasis tropical next doors pools a lot-much more choice. you really need mozzie repellent and a higher spf than normal, that sun is super intense. 1st week was perfect with just enough people and plenty of space in the pool ,the weekends however get crazy and very crowded. our2nd week was much more busy. kids club was poor-colouring in or face painting with maru and rocia the adults in charge really strugling to communicate with our english kids, though they tried hard. christian the adult enterainer was excellent and spoke very good english, and french-most inpressive. you havent lived till youve seen him do his dance to star trekking! bar service slow but friendly. this is a very spanish resort which youll either love or hate. we(alll 10 of us)loved it and hated the sound of english voices back in the airport!. beds and pillows gaurenteed to give you neck ache. nights and mornings very hot. eve entertainment very loud till 11.30. very handy spar shop cross the road, ladies who run it v.nice but do try and use some spanish. beach was coarse sand and incredibly hot, some of beach v.littered. buses come when they feel like it. very little shade over whole area. overall-excellent hotel, pools, staff, people -poor location and kids entertainment during day-my 11 yr old struggled for things to do except swim. i would reccomend this holiday to large groups and couples who dont mind kids. hate being home whould go again tomorrow."

nice posh hotel.... but very remote
"i arrived at the hotel lat in the evening. by the seanery from the couch journey i wasnt very hopefull of what the place would look like. but as i was arriving late i was plesed to arrive at a posh looking hotel. on arrival checking in was really quick and i put my bags in my rooom and went sraight down for dinner. the food was lovly but i am a really fussy eater so there wasnt much for me to choose from. but the people i was travling with loved the vaitety of the food and the display. the weather was really nice and hot and the pool area is clean and tidy, so you can sit and relax. there was always enough sunbeds for me to choosse from but i wasnt there in completly peek season. i was dissapointed with the beach as it was pebbles and sand and the sea was to rough and deep to swim in. but the veiw of it was lovly. the hotel is very very spanish. it was hard to find anough hoilday couple that spoke english... this is where all the spanish hoilday. therefore at night the entertainment in the hotel is all for the spanish. the entertainment guy (christain) is brilliant, a good laugh and that and he does his best to cater for both the english and the spainsh. if you like a good bit of evening entertainment then this hotel is not the best for you.there is also nothing around to go to without hiring a car. i hired a car by the end of the hoilday so that we could travel to a few bars and clubs. but with out a car this would not be possible. as im used to going to greece where there are lots of things going on at night and in the strreet this place was a shock as there was none of that. and everything, includeding the hotel shut at 12!!!!!! so it was an early night everynight!!! apart from the lack of entertainment and the remoteness the hotel is a lovly place with posh rooms and food xxxxx"

Stayed at the best Mojacar hotel second ...
"Stayed at the best Mojacar hotel second week in August with my partner and 6 year old daughter. A holiday from hell . Hotel staff very ignorant just ignore you full of Spanish with all the entertainment in Spanish. This hotel does not cater for kids have a kids club but again Spanish orientated. Located near nothing 20 mins on bus near any of the restaurants or pubs. Buses do not arrive as stated on time table you could wait up to hour on a bus and then the bus would not stop (not full). Would not recommend this hotel or resort to any body. We did do some of the trips to the water park and the western park were good would recommend both. PLEASE NOTE TAXI STOP AT 9.30 MON THURS OVER ALL THE RESORT. TAXI IMPOSSIBLE TO GET. The best Mojacar hotel is ideal if youâre Spanish and you like Spanish music blaring in your ears from morning to night at the pool. Sat at the pool for half hour during holiday. If youâre looking for a sun bed better get up at 6.30 as towels are on them from that time. Didnât stay around hotel tried to stay out of it as much as possible. Wouldnât go back if I got the holiday for nothing."

The hotel receptionists are, like a numb...
"The hotel receptionists are, like a number of the bar staff ignorant, unless of course you are Spanish. There thatâs it, the bad points over. I took my son there and the rooms were clean with two large double beds. They were cleaned thoroughly and the bedding changed daily. The air con was superb ( a must ). The pool was quite large and kept clean, however the sunbeds go pretty early so if you like your sleep ins like us, donât expect to walk down and get a sunbed. The food was very good, there was a large choice and the service was generally good in that part of the hotel. This hotel is one which is used by a large number of Spanish holiday makers which is a good sign. We were not disturbed at anytime by loud people in the hotel which is one of the reasons I booked it. It is quiet as is the resort. There isn't really much to do in Mojacar but if you want to laze around the pool and relax in a comfortable environment then this is the place for you."

Nice hotel, shame about the place
"We booked this hotel on the internet for 6 nights half board at a bargain rate. We arrived on the Saturday and we were suprised to see how busy the hotels was for May. But, we found sunbeds around the pool and put up our feet. In the evening, we arrived at the restuarant mid way through the evening serving and got the last table, which was stuck in behind a pillar, but the food choice and quality was fabulous. The following morning was much same but by the evening it was clear that most of the guests where Spaniards on weekender breaks. The hotel took on a totally different pace from then on. This meant we could eat outside on the veranda at will, get our pick of the sun lounger but most of the atmosphere of the hotel left and when back to Madrid on Sunday night. The choice and quality of the buffets suffered dramatically too, its probably a fact of life, but it just wasn't going to be the same with less turnover of food and fewer premium clients to pay for the luxuries. Our main reservation about the hotel is the location. Its on the beach in a new district of Mojacar but there was not infrastructure such as shops, bars or restuarant close enough to the hotel to walk to. These looked like they where coming but its going to take several year yet. In the meantime, make sure you have a hire car and use it. At then end of the holiday, we moved to Granada for couple of nights. I would strongly recommend this as its a long day to do as a day trip. Remember to book you Alhambra tickets well in advance on the internet."
