Sometimes you’re happy to book into a hotel or resort that provides you with everything you could need, and no reason to leave it for the duration of your stay. If you’re looking for something like that in Tenerife, you may just have found it in the Hotel Riu Garoe.
This four-star facility has much to commend it. For starters it is situated in the Puerto de la Cruz area on the northern coastline of the island. This puts it at around half an hour’s journey from the Tenerife North Airport. The area the hotel is situated in is quiet enough, but the option of hopping on the courtesy shuttle bus means the town itself is always within easy reach.
There are plenty of activities you can get up to on-site, but if you want to head to the beach you can enjoy a nice 20-minute stroll to reach it quite easily. Whatever type of holiday you want, whether you’re looking for a great couples holiday or somewhere that’s ideal for kids, you’re bound to get what you are looking for when you head to the Hotel Riu Garoe.

Whatever size room you’re looking for, you’ll find it at the Hotel Riu Garoe. Offering both twin rooms and suites, the hotel has clearly made every effort to ensure every room is comfortable and pleasant for your stay. It makes the perfect place to start or end the day, either when the kids are in bed or simply for a romantic nightcap.

Facilities, Entertainment, Activities
Where to begin? Well, the pool area will no doubt be a big draw for many guests. There is a large pool for the adults to enjoy and a smaller adjacent pool just for the kids. With lots of room around the sides to grab a sun lounger or two and catch some rays, you will feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
If you’re after a more active holiday you will enjoy the wide range of sporting activities on offer. These include mini-golf, table tennis and even tennis on the full-size court. If you have kids with you they’ll no doubt want to see the playground area – complete with sand – that’s right by the mini-golf course.
Evening entertainment is offered for guests to enjoy some nights, while there is an additional swimming pool indoors at the health and beauty centre. If you’re travelling without kids why not treat yourself to a beauty treatment or two, or perhaps take a turn in the sauna?
Food and Drink Options
Buffet restaurants are not all the same, and the one at the Hotel Riu Garoe is certainly among the best you will have seen. Offering the chance to eat your meal on the al fresco terrace, you can delight in all kinds of items at breakfast alone. Will you opt for hot, cold, Continental or something completely different?
Show cooking is the theme of the evening meal, with more buffet choices offered freshly-cooked and piping hot for your plate. Look out for local dishes as well as more familiar ones the kids will love. During your stay you can also enjoy the theme night that provides you with something completely different.
There is also a small pool snack bar available if you get hungry during the day. This means you can enjoy a snack in between swimming or sunbathing. The kids will love it! And finally for the adults there’s a lounge bar too, so everyone has been thought of.

We're going back in 2 weeks!
"Went to the Garoe with a group of friends in May/June (many of them were on their 6th visit). We have never been to Tenerife before but we're going back to stay in the Garoe in 2 weeks. The hotel, food, staff and location were all excellent. Staff were very helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. Would certainly recommend it and the group will be returning next year."

"This hotel was outstanding. The staff, facilities, food, entertainment, professionalism, and location were top class. Complete quality and I just canât believe that it is only a 4 star hotel. I would easily give it 5 stars.
The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area La Paz very close to the botanical gardens (which are stunning) and not far from the centre of Puerto De La Cruz. It is quiet here not too noisy.
A free coach which is provided by the hotel is great and there is a hill in-between the hotel and town.
The staff made me and my partner feel very special; they treated us as if we were there only guests.
The entertainment lobby bar team we really enjoyed especially Marcos.
The food served in the restaurant within the hotel breakfast and dinner is of a high standard. There is a good choice of different foods to accompany the international and local speciality buffet selection. Although we did eat out a few times.
Our room was fresh, well aired and roomy and very clean. We had a veranda on our room so my partner and I had a few drinks here before going to dinner.
Bathrobes are provided for you in the rooms too along with satellite TV.
At the hotel there was indoor squash, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis, billiards, table tennis (this was fun) a sauna and many golf courses not too far from the hotel.
The guests were mainly Spanish and German there were very few of us Brits!
Have re-booked to go back early 2008. Looking forward to it already!"

"What can I say? There were many Spanish guests at this hotel which must say something in itself.
In my opinion this is a 5 star hotel and not 4 star as is advertised. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area known as La Paz near to the botanical gardens and near enough to the centre of Puerto De La Cruz. There is a free courtesy coach which the hotel operates and proves to be quite good, as the return journey is uphill!
The staff make you feel very welcome and treat yo as if you are the only guest staying at the hotel.
We enjoyed the lobby bar team. Marco in particular was very professional and helpful.
The food is of high standards here. It is though buffet. They do local speciality food (I had the paella) and international food.
Our room was lovely, very clean with fresh flowers fruit and half a bottle of champagne.
Would definitely go back. I had a great time."

"Hotel fabulous. Staff all A1. Cleanliness five star. Thomson as a tour operator 1/10. Felt so let down by them. No rep in resort which we were not told about until we reached Tenerife Airport. Tried to book two trips on the holiday line (which we had to pay for). One was booked (market) but received a fax the day before to say it was cancelled - no explanation. Overall fab holiday shame about the tour co."

"A lovely hotel with very good staff. Mostly German guests. everyone was pleasant and friendly. The food and restaurant staff very good. I am glad I chose this part of Puerto de la Cruz away from the noise and bustle, and British abroad!
We went with Thompsonâs and did not see a rep the whole time we were there to me a blessing. (They left a phone number which was busy when we tried it) Unfortunately they still had to tell us how to check in at the airport!!"

"Every thing about the hotel was excellent. That is if you were German or Spanish.
If you were English you felt like a fish out of water. There were 190 rooms in the hotel and only 7 English people staying.
We were disgusted that we did not see a Thomson rep in all the time we were at the hotel. A rep put a note under our room door on the Friday before the Tuesday that we were leaving to say that he/she would be in the hotel the following Thursday. That rep obviously didnât even check how long we were staying.
To sum up, the hotel was fine. Thomsons as a company were not. We felt they had our money and then forgot about us. That is not the way to encourage people to return.
