Sunset Bay Club

We have renamed it Cockroach Bay
"We stayed here in August for 2 weeks.
We had a 2 bed in block D no air con and in need of renovation.
We hada terrible problem with cockroaches in the rooms & balcony. There were loads crawling around every evening. We had them in our rooms every day. We informed reception, told them where they were coming from and asked if they could treat the area...they were not intersted at all.
Standard of cleanliness around the resort was extremely poor.
Reception advised all not to leave windows open due to break ins but couldn't leave them open as a result of cockroaches!!!
I would not recommend this resort."

Not as good as last time
"We stayed at Sunset Bay 28th Sept to 5th Oct. This is our third trip here and after having had such a good holiday at the bay the last time, we had the same high expectations for this holiday.
Accommodation - We took our 16 year old daughter and friend this time and when we arrived was horrifed to find out we had been allocated a one bedroomed apartment. We complained about this but was told to speak to the tour rep the next day who would sort this out. To make matters worse the apartment was in G Block at the back of the resort on the top floor. This meant walking up a steep hill and climbing copius amounts of stairs. I This place is not for the elderly or disabled!!! When you have been on the beach all day and have to go up the hill and 69 steps in the blazing sun to get to your apartment it is very exhausting, even for 16 yr olds!!!
The view from the room though was magnificent with it being high up so in a way this compensated for it i guess but we ended up with very sore calves and thighs at the end of the week.
The 3rd and 4th beds were a pull out sofa in the lounge (hospital bed as my daughter called it). We were very disappointed with the apartment, it certainly was not as luxurious as what we had last year and was smaller!!!! Also the beds were not comfortable at all. The next day we complained to the rep about only having one bedroom and he said that reception should have sorted it out!!! He said that he would speak to reception but that the only 2 bed apartments that would be available would be in D block above all the noisey bars. We decided it was a waste of time so sticked with what we had. It didnt really spoil the holiday as much as we thought it would but if you dont mind a messy apartment and not being able to sit in the lounge then i guess you would be happy. We had a TV in our bedroom anyway so we just laid in there and most of other time we were all on the balcony looking at the gorgeous sunsets over the sea!!!
Other than that, we enjoyed our stay, had a lovely week, weather was roasting and the girls enjoyed it but if we came back to the Tenerife we would definitely stay at Royal Beach or the Harbour as the bay seems to be at the bottom of the luxury list now, which is a shame.
Eating out - try verde (italian opposite san eugene shopping centre) lovely meal 10/10. Phoneix City (chinese in adeje) 10/10 with lots of free booze.
Try trip to Tedie with Beep Beep Jeep and Loro Parque a must. Friday is best day to go, less busy. Next year the new water park will be open with will be the largest in Europe complete with flume going into an alligator filled pit!!! Might be worth a trip."

"Stayed here in June.Check in quick enough but hauling your luggage up two flights of stairs was the last thing we needed after travelling.Noise seems to echo throughout the block .Inside the apartment is adequate, double bed is ok for midgets.Cockroaches are also a problem as you have to clear them from your room and balcony every morning.Resort is very old and in need of a major refit and decoration.I feel very sorry for people who go to this resort every year. There were also 4 break ins during the first week we stayed that we heard of.Pubs on the resort seem to do a roaring trade for the Northerners if you like chips 24 hours a day.Last time we will be visiting Tenerife - it was a [-] like the resort itself."

"I stayed at the sunset bay for 1 week in june and had a great time, although some apartments have a lot of steps you have great views of the sea and the beach is a 5 minute stroll past a selection of shops and resturants.
The marina is just a few minutes away with high standard resturants you can eat whilst enjoying the sunset, we had 2 apartments next door to each other and the balconys were bigger than the apartments!! great for sitting out in the evening .
Although we had no children in our party the had great childrens activites at the second pool every day and a well organised events timetable for each day.
The hotel has a shop 2 resturants a laundry service and a cople of bars on site, it also had a complementary apartment if you have a late flight to freshen up in and 2 more shower rooms in reception.
I would stay here again with out hesitation."

Don't go here
"We have just returned from sunset bay club in Tenerife.
It was dissapointing to say the least. The main problem for me was the cockroaches on the balcony and in the room. The pool was dirty with scum floating on the top, especially late afternoon. The whole place could do with a complete overhall as the furniture was tired and worn and the complex itself lacked any atmosphere during the evening or day.
We were also burgled on the second night there, we were asleep in the room at the time.
Sunset bay was described as familly orientated, in the broshure but there was nothing organised for the young children to do. There was plenty for the adults as games such as water polo and lilo racing, but during this time the children had to sit out of the pool as it was just too rowdy for them.
I would not go back to this place or recommend it to anyone."

"I must say I was a little apprehensive of staying at the Sunset bay Club after reading previous reports (security)
However we had the most fantastic stay! The 1 bedroomed apartment had just been fitted with air con. The apartment was clean, light and modern and we had the best balcony overlooking the 2nd pool - it was virtually the size of the pool!
The location was great and easy to get both into Playa des las Americas and adeje. The drinks and food were cheap in the local vicinity and there were two fantastic supermarkets close by.
Our maid was fab and ver understanding with our hangovers!
All in all a fab location and we would most definately return.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions

Fantastic family location
"Stayed here in Easter holidays. This is the 5th time we've stayed here, and have had a fantastic holiday every time.
The resort is in a great location; close to beach, restaurants and other amenities. Security used to be a problem, but some new fences this year seemed to have helped. Despite being so close to Las Americas, it is a fairly quiet resort at night; good if you have young children.
Our kids love to spend most of their time around the pools, and we have made some good friends with families who return every year.
Recommended family trips are Jungle Park (superb birds of prey), Freebird (dolphin and whale spotting), Loro Parque (very long drive though) and the combined water park and dolphin show.
Best night out was a night of music and being insulted by comedian at St Eugege's bar.
Staff at resort are very helpful and friendly, especially at reception and the pool bar. Daytime entertainment keeps kids and adults amused.
The rooms are very spacious and well fitted and are all gradually being fitted with air conditioning
Have already booked for next Easter!"

nice complex but watch your valuables
"had a lovely easter holiday in this complex, room was a good size and in clean condition, pool and bar area was very nice and every thing in the resort was in easy walking distance. the only problem we had whilst staying in this complex was that our room was broken into during the night whilst we were sleeping in our room!! some advice if you are thinking of staying at this complex is to check you windows lock properly and that you cannot lift them out whilst locked as ours did!!!! hire a safety deposit box, luckly we did and only lost a few items!"

"I went to this complex for two weeks in February. Weather wasnt too good, but the bars and restaurants on this complex were very welcoming and I still had a good time. I booked through (---) and janette their sales rep was really helpful - nothing seemed to be too much trouble."

dated,tired & unsafe apartment
"Stayed here in a privately rented apartment. Apartment was big disappointment, dated & tired and many safety issues. (agent has failed to reply to any of my emails regarding this and the building work issue) There is a lot of building work going on all over the complex and was noisy all day â we had to leave the complex to get away from it â we wasnât told about this when we booked a couple of weeks before we stayed in March and it has been going on since January. There are also a number of bars in the complex and it can get very noisy till late at night so beware if you want early nights or have children. There is a tussle in the mornings for a bed at the heated pool but the unheated pool is OK. Bit of a hilly complex so if your mobility is poor or you are pushing a buggy then make sure you are fit. Many apartments are timeshare or privately owned. Location is quite good as pretty central but would say there are better places to stay."

A nice place to stay
"This is the third time I stayed at sunset bay twice as Timeshare and this time as rental. If you do not like a lot of noise I would advise to send a e-mail and ask not to be put in Block D. The apartments are of a reasonable standard and clean and tidy with a reasonable balcony.
I would advise if approached on site to go to a presentation and offer 25 Euro to refuse but it to get you interested in renting then to buy Timeshare. On site their are bars and Restaurants and it is not far to the beach, bars and Restaurants. "
