Can't wait for the next visit
"Just got back from holiday after 2 smashing weeks at this hotel. This was our second visit (sister, niece and great niece aged 7). Rooms could do with a bit of a revamp as although clean they are not a patch on the sister hotel Vulcano. The entertainment was a bit hit and miss but everything else was superb especially the food. Can't diet at this hotel. Roll on next year."

"It was my first stay in the Bitacora and I hope to be back. Staff was very friendly; they even prepared breakfast for us when we left at 4 in the morning! It's only 5 minutes to walk from the Bitacora to the beach, perfect. Only negative thing I could find was that the pool area was too small, but who wants to stay there with that lovely sea nearby?"

Kids loved it so we did
"Excellent accomodation which was clean and had everything we needed. If we had to critise to rooms were starting to look a bit tired. Restrurant was great with friendly helpful staff. Our family are fussy eaters and there was so much choice there was something for everyone with a chance to be adventurous if you fancied. Swimming pool was great with plenty of sun beds. But beware visiters get up early to put a towel on sun beds they want to reserve. The other childrens facilities were great our children are 3 and 6 years and there was plenty to entertain from bouncy castle, ball pit plus compertitions in colouring table tennis and mini golf.
After diner there was childrens entertainment with a Disney film and disco and in another bar there is plenty for the adults. We loved it and will be back shortly."

"Just got back from 12 days in Tenerife split between El Medano at another hotel and Arona at the Bitacora (first week of March) with my wife and 2 kids (4 years and 9 months). We had a nice experience at the Bitacora.
The rooms were good sized and clean - they sleep up to 4 (double bed, day bed, trundle bed) and have a private balcony. We paid just under 200 euros for a room including breakfast and dinner (2 adults and one child - the baby was free).
The food was very good - a great selection of well prepared food for dinner including a grill with a meat and a fish each night. Also lots of other choices including hot meat dishes, veggies, fresh fruit and vegetables, soups, and a fairly large dessert buffet. You pay for drinks (including water).
The crowd was mainly 50s and up while we were there. Not that many kids as the UK school holidays had just ended and fairly few younger couples.
There were quite a few activities for the kids - 2 pools, a "bounce house" and play gym, tennis, shuffleboard, table tennis, painting, etc. with a staff that seemed to be pretty good with the kids. A kids movie played each night at 7:15 and there was live entertainment later on (acrobats, dancing, singing, etc.) which my wife and daughter enjoyed (I passed - opting for a few quiet moments in the room with our baby sleeping).
The beach was 500 meters away - not close enough to hear the surf but a short walk away.
The staff was very courteous and helpful and can book any number of tours and arrange for taxis etc.
The area is quite built up and had the feel of a resort town - it could easily have been Palm Springs. Not for those who want a vacation close to nature but great for those who want all the conveniences of a resort. I almost felt like I was on a cruise ship. The only disappointment was the lack of inespensive take away food options for lunch - it seemed to be either sit down or McDonalds in the area.
Thumbs up for the Bitacora."

"Just got back from a weeks stay at the hotel bitacora.
I can not reccomend it highly enough, with the only negative factor been poorish entertainment, though the surrounding area has plenty going on. The rooms are spacious and many have excellent sea/pool views. You will find the staff are very helpful, always at hand and they always took time out to say hi to my 16month old daughter, who from what i can gather, loved it. If, like me , you like your food, you will find yourself spoilt to the extreme, such a wide variety and all to die for, especially the steaks, cooked before you by the various chefs.
Book this hotel and you will not be dissappointed, I now intend to book for next year, it made that sort of impression"

loved the bitacora
"stayed at the bitacora in October half term. We had an age range of 72, 50, 42, 16 (going on 25) and 12, and we all had a great holiday. The hotel was in a nice area and we didn't have any trouble with noise. The rooms were basic but large and very clean. We did not have a pool view but had a great view of the mountains in the background. The food was lovely and there was much to choose from. The kids (and some adults) loved the slide and the pool was a lovely temperature. In the evening the hotel was in a great position to explore the noisy area of playa de las americas or the more sedate area of los cristianos which has gone much more upmarket since we were last there (about 10 years ago). There are a few designer shops, lots of sports shops and many bars and restaurants.
The downside to the hotel was the lack of sunbeds - everybody but everybody reserved them before breakfast and some did not turn up to use them until around 3 o'clock which was very annoying. but there were plenty of sun umbrellas. The entertainment in the hotel was very hit and miss. some nights it was good and others were plain awful.
We had a great holiday. We had a look round at a few other hotels whilst we were there but have booked again at the bitacora for February as we didn't see anything we liked better."

"Me and my husband are just back from staying at the bitacora, had a brillant holiday!!!! hotel was great, staff were very friendly and helpful. And the food was out of this world,so much to choose from def not a place to go if your on a diet........
Only one bad point i have to say is that the pool area was extremley busy, very hard to get a sun lounger unless you were up really early to reserve one,but apart from that i would def reccomend this hotel to anyone. We hope to be back nxt year!!!!!!!"

"We stayed at the Bitacora in July for two weeks, and really enjoyed it. The Hotel was spotless, i didn't even see one ant in our room! the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is great, even for the children! The night time entertainment was super, we spoke to some people who said the entertainment at the Bitacora was better than the Vulcano [sister hotel] although we visited the Vulcano and it is a beautiful Hotel. I think the Bitacora is better for families and the pools are very clean and the slide in the smallest pool is super for the children & the grown-ups. We had fantastic weather everyday. You can even book your trips at the hotel reception and there is a free bus to take you to some places e.g jungle park. The only thing is if you want a sunbed near the pool you have to go and get one at 7am but that probably happens in a lot of hotels. What can i say - absolutely brilliant and we will definatetly go back to the Bitacora."

"Just returned. Home after one weeks hotel at the BitaCora hotel, half board. The hotel is lovely, and the staff very friendly and very helpful, our room was immaculate and cleaned on a daily basis by the maid,we had a pool view , there's plenty of sun beds ,no need to put towels out early dawn to reserve like people were doing, both pools were lovely and the pool bar provided snacks throughout the day .The hotel is in the center of the resort ,ideal to get to the shopping center, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes,Harry's bar and the Hard Rock cafe well worth a visit, also the Plasa cafe,we spent a few nights here, the onsite entertainment was brill, the guy did tribute to Elton John and Tom Jones ,but had us crying with laughter,he is really funny, and his act blends comedy and singing together.in all a fantastic holiday, excellent hotel, staff a credit to the hotel,we will be going back again next year."

"We have just returned from spending Christmas & New Year at this hotel. It was our second visit here & we stayed in a lovely pool view room which has been recently refurbished. It was tastefully decorated, light & airy with flat screen TV etc. The only thing I feel could have been improved was the hairdryer. It was only lukewarm & not very powerful, plus the cable was not quite long enough when you happen to be left handed.
The lounge near reception has free WI-FI and is beautiful, clean and well kept. The was a large choice of food at all meal times and the Gala dinners were excellent. The one on New Years eve even included caviar & lobster. A great hotel in a good location, a short walk to the beach. "
