Beware of their lies
"Having stayed here on many occasions before the hotel, the emotionless general female manager and the useless male manger have let the good name of the Med Palace down. They closed the pool for required maintenance but forgot the main bit, they didn't tell the paying customers until we had all paid on arrival. They said we where all informed, lies! They said it was only for a few days, 2 weeks at last count, more lies!
I would be ware of traveling here because if you have a problem then the help from the HOPELESS management will be non existent.
To be fair while they are updating the dated pool they may as well stick a lick of paint around the rest of the hotel and change the decor which has been the same for 20+ years.
ADVICE = go somewhere else where you are appreciated. Good riddance "

An absolute must!!!! Take me back!!
"My partner and I just arrived back from The Mare Nostrum Resort in Tenerife and stayed at Mediterranean Palace Hotel, it was absolutly spectacular and the service was excellent. We could not fault one single thing about it and would not stay anywhere else in Tenerife again! It is a stones throw away from the beach and amazing resteraunts and bars, especially the magic lounge, which is attached to the cleopatra hotel, which you also have access to and can use there facilities such as there jacuzzis, pools and spa! Absolutly amazing! We had no problems apart from when our safe broke, but as soon as we told the man on reception he was up in less than 2 minutes and fixed it! It felt very safe and the rooms were lovely, the pool is amazing and has lots going on but is surprisingly quiet and relaxing. The food was amazing and there was lots of choice! We highly recommend anybody, regardless of age or lifestyle to stay at this hotel and we have also told our friends and family! "

Enjoyed a lovely holiday in this beautiful hotel.
"Just returned from 10 nights (Bed and Breakfast) at the Mediterranean Palace Hotel in Playa de Las Americas. A beautiful hotel, very comfortable and clean. Location couldn't be better, staff nice and a good selection of food at breakfast. The reception area is fabulous and I liked the cooling effect of the water features. The glass fronted lifts were ideal for me and didn't make me feel shut in - I hate lifts! I had a lovely room and, yes, the grouting around the bath needed redoing and a couple of the doors needed a fresh coat of paint. Would I go back to the Mediterranean Palace - 100% YES."

Resting on it's laurels!!!
"My wife and I have stayed at the Mediterranean Palace on several occasions but not any more. On the first few visits we were quite satisfied. The Atrium is quite spectacular with it's open balconies and huge chandeliers and the pool area is impressive. Alas the spectacle ends there. The bedrooms are a different matter. A Refurbishment is very long overdue - they are shabily furnished not too clean and the tiling in bedroom and bathroom is disgraceful. They now charge a supplement for Seaview Rooms on floor 4 and 5. The sea can only be seen over the roof of the Sir Anthony Hotel. and they are in as poor condition as the Non-Seaview rooms. The Buffet Restaurant once very elegant "HAS" had a refurbishment - unfortunately it now looks like a Macdonalds and the food is not of such a good standard. These are not 4 star standards although the tariff is.
Following our last visit I spoke to Guest Relations and asked if she would let me know when improvements had been made. We like the location with its good shopping and restaurant facilities."

â¬6 Euro per hour for WiFi/internet. Rip off or what
"This is an absolutely fabulous hotel, probably one of the best in Tenerife. The food provided for breakfast is excellent. The staff at reception are extremely helpful, courteous and always smiling. The shows in the hotel terrace are fantastic the live music is at a level that will allow you to have a conversation while sitting at your table. Unfortunately the management of this hotel have decided in their wisdom to rip off the guests by charging â¬6 per hour for the use of their WiFi. This is an extremely expensive charge for internet over WiFi, that is a lot more than what you would be charged for the same service on a cruise ship. The management of the Mediterranean Palace Hotel need to realise very quickly that a large percentage of people travelling to Tenerife and the rest of the world on holiday are using smart phones, such as the iphone, blackberry and others. For those of that use smart phones they require Internet constantly and this is normally provided by the home telephone network such as O2, Vodafone, Orange and Tmobile over there 3G service. When people take their telephone abroad they no longer have access to the 3G service unless they have signed up for Data roaming, which is also very expensive. So the smart phone user has to rely on whatever available WiFi in their vicinity. So to the management of all hotels please wake up smell the coffee and stop charging for her WiFi, it's not like your internet charges will increase the more people use your WiFi."

"Just came back after a weeks stay with family, takes 20mins from the airport by taxi to hotel, were greeted with a glass of cava, room was on the 4th floor facing the main roads,(if facing the pool maybe could be a bit noisy with the shows on till midnight)...room was clean and a normal size had big mirror in the bathroon and shelfs to put yr toiletries on,however i found the sink plughole smelled unpleasent and the bath/shower could of been a bit cleaner.bfast was lovely a choice of everything you could think of 6-10.30am,entertaniment had lacked from 2 years ago, same spanish lady singing everynight, however had a kids disco at 8pm everynight, and the weekds the shows has more acts...prices were about average in the hotel for drinks..lots of places to eat and drink never had a bad nights food from the resturants outside the hotel..weather was warm however cloudy most days with a short spell of sun every few hours bt still came back with a tan,my 4 yr old loved the pool and the beach which is just outside."

Not a 5 star hotel
"Once this was a five star hotel, it certainly is'nt now.
The first room we were given was directly above the restaurant. It was noisy, small, didn't have much wardrobe space. We asked to be moved and we (voluntarily) paid extra to upgrade to a suite.
Both rooms were dirty especially the bathroom. The floors had dirt and hair in the corners, the tiles were cracked and covered with small mats. The paint was peeling from the skirting boards and the walls. The ceiling paintwork was bubbling and cracked. The sofa was filthy and covered in hair.
The public areas were no better. The sunbeds are old and stained. The poolside is grubby and was'nt cleaned while we were there.
This is an old, tired and decrepit hotel that needs to be either renovated or demolished and re-developed.
The staff were very helpful - genuine, smiling, polite and quick.
We are not film stars or celebrities, I'm an electrician and I see many different sides of life. We look forward to our holiday and particularly like the Canaries. This trip was a huge dissapointment.
I would say to people who are considering this hotel for their holiday, GO ELSEWHERE!"

"This is a very good hotel in a decent location. Those who had a sterotypical view of Las Americas will be suprised that the Hotel is situated in a more upmarked area, in fact just round the corner from Los Cristianos. The whole of Las Americas has also had a massive makeover in the last 10 years.
The hotel is very clean and the facilities and services are good. The room we stayed in was a disappointing (in size) and I would say would be on par with a 4 star hotel. There is a gym on site which charges 5 Euro's per use of 18 Euro's for the week, which is of a reasonable standard. The Pool is very big.
One word of warning though. We had a room which faced onto the street. We are both very deep sleepers and not usually bothered by noise, however we found the noise both inside and outside of the hotel to be really loud on some nights. This would definitely upset some people.
Overall I would recommend this hotel."

I have just returned after spending 9 da...
"I have just returned after spending 9 days at the Mediterranean Palace hotel. I travelled there with my boyfriend and spent my birthday whilst out there.
I had read all of the reviews on this site before I went and wasn't put off. You have to be seriously unlucky to have had a bad time at this hotel. I have always been used to staying in a high standard of hotels when I go on holiday, and although not quite a five star hotel, is definately not far off.
My first impression of the hotel from the outside is that it looks quite dated. That is because of the bright blue colour (I called it the Thunderbird hotel), however, don't let that put you off. The inside of the hotel is lovely. Huge big spaces, with lots of areas to relax in and outside of the hotel.
When checking in, we were presented with a glass of Cava, and the staff were pleasant and efficient. The bell boy was quick in bringing our belongings upstairs and showing us to our room.
We stayed on the 5th floor, with a mountain room, and although most reviews say to opt for a pool view, our thought our view was lovely. You could see the hustle and bustle of the area without it being to imposing, as well as the mountains in the background.
The rooms are not the largest in size, but more than sufficient for the price that we had paid. The bathroom was clean, and had plenty of fresh towels every day and our sheets/room cleaned every afternoon. Our privacy respected when we wanted it. Our balcony was kept cool, but if you want the sun, you go and sit by the pool or through the back of the pool is a gate that leads to the beach.
The pool is huge, albeit very cold. However, once you were in the pool, it was deliriously refreshing, and never too busy, even dispite the fact it was kids easter holidays. There were plenty of loungers and if none free, the staff would see to getting you one brought over. Huge big pool towels were offered every day, so although we packed our own towels, they were not used once all holiday.
We only stayed bed and breakfast but with a huge amount of restaurants on the beach front and on the road at the front of the hotel to choose from, wouldn't wanted to have stayed in the hotel every night. We had the choice to also use the facilities of the other hotels/pools, but apart from having a quick nosey, felt everything was efficient enough for us to stay within our hotel complex.
Breakfast is served between 6.30 and 10.30 am and there is a huge choice of hot food, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, meats, cheese, coffees, juices, pastries, that there is something to cater everyones needs. On our last day our food was a bit lukewarm, but we did get down for breakfast at 10.20am.
Outside of the hotel there is plenty of places to eat a more traditional English breakfast, should you prefer, which costs no more than 3-4 Euros. A couple of mornings we woke up late for breakfast so found ourselves venturing out for something to eat.
In terms of the entertainment, it is definately not for the young. But we were happy to venture out of the complex in the evenings for both food and drinks. The bar was very expensive with only a small range of cocktails, but with a busy nightlife only 5mins away from the hotel, didn't feel hard done by, the hotel was there for us to sleep and relax, every thing else, we found outside.
On my birthday, I was surprised with a room service continental breakfast... if you are wanting to treat a member of your party whilst there, I would definately recommend this as it was delicious and a wonderful surprise and alternative to eating in the restaurant.
To summarise, I am a 23 year old who went away with my boyfriend for a relaxing but fun break and I would definately return the Med Palace. The staff were fantastic, the hotel clean, bright. I will definately be returning at some point. The location of the hotel is fantastic, something for everyone is on the doorstep, whether that be the beach, restaurants on the beach, supermarkets, or if you want a busy night out head into Starco.
The shops opposite are fantastic, with designer boutiques, lovely little clothes and shoe shops on nice clean roads.
If you do book this hotel, I recommend Bianco's Italian restaurant, which is on the main road outside of the hotel. Also, Picallos, towards Los Christianos was very nice and Toro Tapas (the receptionist at Med Palace recommended this to us) for a traditional Spanish meal.
I hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did. Some people are just too fussy. I have high standards and the hotel met my every need, as I said at the beginning of my review, you are very unlucky if you have a bad time at this hotel."

We have just returned from this hotel, 2...
"We have just returned from this hotel, 2 adults + 2 children. This is not a 5 star hotel, more like a standard 3 star. We stayed in a suite, which was a good size, but the room wasn't very clean, the floor had not been washed for the whole week we were there, it was not of a high standard. The bathroom had mould everywhere, and we had a leek in the celling above the toilet, so when you went toilet you needed a towel over you, this was reported several times, but never fixed.
Also be warned on the extra charges, we stayed full board, but we were told it was only the Med hotel buffet that was included, all the others had a supplement between 6- 22euros each, including children, so when you add these to your meal and the drinks, it became expensive. The food was great, plenty of choice and all fresh. If you do pay for your drinks daily, do keep receipts, as when we checked out we were charged for 3 nights drinks, saying we had not paid, fortunately I had my receipts to prove I had paid, only then it was taken of my bill.
The entertainment was a bit on the poor side, this normally starts at 10.15pm until 12.30am, which is very late if you have young children, as they can't watch as they are tired, but can't sleep as it is to loud. The location of the hotel is good, plenty of shopping and right on the footstep of a nice clean beach. There is a minibar in the room, which you can use as a fridge at a charge, which is handy to store cool drinks. I would recommend bringing your own towels, as the bath towels provided, are of poor quality and very old.
Also the pool area gets very busy, even though it states that you can not leave towels on the sunbeds, otherwise they would be removed, but people were leaving towels on them from the night before and they were not removed. Also be warned, that although this hotel does have a nudest area, which is on the 4th floor, about 30% were sunbathing in the nude around the main pool, and approx 60% of women sunbathing topless, which isn't ideal if you have young children. If it's a 5 star hotel you are after, I would not recommend this hotel."
