Hotel Best Tenerife

Unkept price agreements, food not up to standard and only buffet available. Some reception staff rude and sarcastic
"Stayed in this hotel which I booked on a room only for a short stay.Booking was made via email for which I received confirmation from the hotel on the total price, including the half board chosen. We were greeted by a man who I can only say was rude. There had obviously been a misunderstanding in price I was quoted, even though I showed him a copy of the email. He took it and said the price was wrong, would not stand by what what in the email and said that we didn't want to stay at the inflated price he then quoted then we could check out. He said that all of their prices are the same in the group of Best hotels and that theses are set in stone by their head office. After our short planned stay we moved to another hotel, same group, same board rating, same star rating. But prices different.Guess what? This one was the higher!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hotel good but playa de las americas has another major concern for me
"Stayed in Best Tenerife hotel, good hotel for the price, clean, staff very friendly and helpful ideally located for beach and nightlife lovers
But Las Americas has a bigger problem imo, which i felt i wanted to share with others to see if i was the only one who had been to Tenerife, not to be bothered by this issue. Being hassled, bothered, hounded, however you want to call it, this is how it felt for the whole week, the minute you step outside your hotel the problem begins, you go into a shop to browse immediately you are being hounded by the shop assistants, do you want to buy this, buy that we offer a discount, most shops we went into, this was the norm, eventually we decided against going into to most shops because of this harassment, even a stroll along the promenade is a mission with the African boys selling anything from watches to sunglasses, bags to jewelry, and at night weed or drugs, and there is loads of these guys, every 5 minutes bothering you, i have all the patients in the world, but this just got up my back, it got to the stage you dreaded going anywhere because of it, i know they are only trying to make a living, but when you have 3 of these guys on the same terrace in a bar selling the same stuff, with them all bothering customers it is frustrating, period.
Then the main bars and clubs in the area at the Veronica, the minute you hit the area promoters are there trying to get you into the bar they are working/promoting for, and there is a number of them at times refusing to let you past until you acknowledge them, wanting know why if you say "no don't fancy O'Neil tonight" why you don't, it is constantly there. Me i like to go into one bar, then another try a few of them out, there is enough of them to do that there, but doing this is going to cost you, the drinks in all of the bars in this area is 6 euros for 1 or 10 euros for 2, yes they give you a receipt,to comeback with the same or some other night, but it might not be my ticket, i may not want to stop in there for more than 1 drink, but you feel pressured or obligated to do so, but the promoters in this area are a joke, and for me this sums up the problem with this area, you are consistently being hounded to buy something even if you are clearly not interested.
For some this might be a minor niggle that isn't a problem, but the majority of people i spoke all had the same issues, and would put them off coming to this area in the future, if it isn't looked at and sorted soon it may be too late, there are other destinations that are better, with the same good weather without the hassle.
I thought i would warn people going to the area for the first time of this problem at least you are for warned of it, such a shame because it is a nice area "

stay away from this hotel.
"Terrible hotel, first room we had was 527 when you opened the balcony door you looked onto a wall, second day we got a change, food disgusting and waste of money going all inclusive, the local brand spirits would rot your gut and the wine was like vinegar. Restaurant manager ride and unfriendly as were most of the restaurant staff. Public area toilets a disgrace, holiday rep rude and very unhelpful, never again and would advise anyone to stay well clear of this hole"

hotel from hell
"Started our holiday on 12/05/2014 hotel is a building site with noise, food was awful all hot food was cold, meat was raw, room was not cleaned to any star rating. for an all inclusive holiday with chaos among the staff it was a disaster, the first choice rep could not get anything done, and never once did we receive an apology from any one, reception, restaurant manager and hotel manager after 6 complaints two of which were written. will never recommend this hotel to anyone"

Best hit the mark for me.
"The hotel is in a good location close to the sea and shopping areas. The staff are most helpful and treat you with respect. The rooms are comfortable and clean with a fridge and air conditioning if needed. The food in the restaurant was varied and of good quality. It was possible that you had to wait for a table the only way round that would be to have a staggered sitting. The pool area is kept clean and tidy there are enough sun beds but a wee bit short on umbrellas. The bars were ok but the entertainment could be better."

good location but requires modernisation
"Stayed from 7,9,2013 for 7 days room clean and quite well equipped but very dated and wants a full refurbishment staff were friendly and anything you required was not to much trouble ,restaurant was also in need of refurbish as well as plaster dropping off wall etc ,biggest criticism was how you were took to your table marched along like a school trip surely size of the area you could sit anywhere marched along by a penguin with a abrupt attitude to his own staff ,food was quite good not always hot but showcase cooking not for me but always something to eat so not much issue there, pool was shallow and surprisingly freezing it was 30 plus but water was coldest Ive experienced in any hotel so kids in mind check this out sunbeds all okay ,bar area snacks all excellent piano bar was a nice place to be but again dated ceiling plaster dropping off everywhere but staff very good and drinks etc also very good overall a good holiday would not dismiss staying again location ect excellent but bear in mind requires a update soon "

"Hotel in a lovely area, near to bars/shops etc all buses stop right outside of the hotel.first impression when you walk into the hotel with it's large airy reception is very nice, fast check in we were on the 6th floor over looking a side street/sea/mountain view,we were on half board the food was not always hot but plentyfull and show cooking each evening, never seen any entertainment as we went out every night,we only went down to the pool once and there was no sunbeds and it was very busy so we never bothered again we are not into getting up early to put towels on sunbeds.
staff all nice, safe hire 25 euro 10 back on checkout.
free fridge in room which is a real bonus, few toilteries, hairdryer in bathroom, towels changed everyday if left in the bath sheets changed once.
the hotel could do with a bit of a makeover."

Basically ok, but could try harder
"Went there for on a late deal and found that the room that we were allocated appeared to be on the roof. We had a large terrace outside the small bedroom which had a large double sunbed on it, but you could only see over to the pool if you stood on the sunbed.
The room had a (locked) interconnecting door to the next room and every night it was a little disappointing to be able to hear every word that the people next door were saying. We asked if we could be moved but were told that there were no spare rooms so we lumped it.
The room seemed to be a haven for cockroaches which was a little off-putting!
The food and entertainment were good. Would I return? No, in all honesty I would not, but for a late cheap deal it's worth a punt."

i really enjoyed my stay at this hotel
"i really enjoyed my stay, and as for the reviews about people saying only the germans were all inclusive and wearing the wrist bands, thats a loads of rubbish. me and my family was all inclusive and we got wrist bands, your not going to get a wrist band if your not all inclusive thats just the way it works, it has nothing to do with you being brittish!!!
me and my family went to this hotel and really enjoyed our stay, its was lovely and clean, all the staff were friendly and couldnt do enough for us, the entertainment was enjoyable with a good set of entertainment staff, and the food was nice it wasnt anything special but it was just normal food.
i would deffinatly go back to this hotel again in the future"

Hotel Room Broken Into
"Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel 2 years ago for our honeymoon it was lovely, so we decided to go back again for our wedding anniversary. On arrival we were allocated a suite room 513 it was lovely, the hotel is very clean the restaurant staff are very friendly the food is good. We stayed for 10 nights on our last day 40 minutes before we were due to be picked up to go to the airport our room was broken into the patio door was ripped away from the concrete wall. All our valuables were stolen as well as passports, flight tickets and clothes, the hotel management and security staff took some pictures of the door we asked them if they had phoned the police and they said no, we asked them if they were going to phone the police and again they said no. We then asked them what do we do now and they walked away and left us we will definately not be staying in this hotel again. We advise anybody who intends to stay at this hotel in the future to be vigilant at all times. Since returning home Thomas Cook have told us that they will not keep us informed of any outcome to the break-in"

The Best Hotel Tenerife, formerly Teneri...
"The Best Hotel Tenerife, formerly Tenerife Princess will be closing down for 40 days in May, for re-furbishing. It is obvious it does need updating if it is to get back to being a 4 star hotel. Having said that , my wife and I enjoyed our stay, without wanting to change too much. We would certainly come again even without the re-furb.
Without a doubt the greatest asset the hotel has, is the staff, cannot fault any of them.
The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, their attendance to the guests in the restaurant was excellent, very, very impressive. There was a large choice of food, maybe a little bit repetitive if you were there for two weeks. But choices from, salads, fish, lamb chops, roast beef, rabbit !, lots of vegetable choices and all the usual fruit, cake, ice cream etc if wanted.
The hotel is spacious, having a piano lounge, lots of seats to relax in around the spacious reception area. Three internet access PC's, I think was one Euro for 10 minutes.
There's an entertainment lounge, which has shows every night, sometimes more than one type of show in a night. We only went to watch the Beatles tribute band, which was excellent, especially as they were four Spanish lads, the instrument playing was bang on. Other shows, were snake show, flamenco dancing, conjurer, modern ballet girls. As our room was opposite the entertainment lounge we could sit on the balcony for while with our drink looking at the act.
The piano lounge was a nice oasis, a different pianist each night, we would sometimes have a tea or maybe beer after our evening meal .
In the spacious area just outside the restaurant entrance, in the large covered glass walkway, different vendors will come each day and present their goods. It may be watches one day, another day may be jewellery, children's artistic items etc. Always something going on.
The swimming pools are smaller than the impression that the photographs on the brochures give. Having said that, it is still fun to use, especially after 10am, when the waterfall is turned on. The children pools are very good, especially as the parents can choose one of the sun beds which are right up to the pool. There is a centre island bar, accessed by bridges, where drinks, coffee, can be obtained, which also has seating, overlooking the pools, to relax in if you wish.
There is also a tabled, thatched roof covering, within the large poolside patio area where you can sit down out of the sun to have a snack meal at lunchtime.
A word of warning when out on the streets , watch out for the scratch card people, they thrust a card into your hand, asking you to scratch off all the four golden spots, they say you win if you scratch off 4 Euros, usually the 2nd card they give you. To get your prize, you have to go on a 90 minutes presentation at Americas Plaza ."
