Hated it, like a prison.
"Was upgraded to this hotel from the fully booked california apartments, this was after a 1hr 40min heated debate in the california apt, they wanted to put our party of 3 right next to all the roudy veronica night life, this was not going to happen in a million years.
we explained that the reason we booked the california apt was that having walking difficulties & we knew the resort area the california apts were booked only because of the location.
when we were move to the compostela hotel we were told it was only 5mins away, it may be if your in a formula 1 race car, to someone with walking difficulties it may as well have been on mars.
we hated the location, we didnt like the pool area, as everyone just stares all day long if you dare to sun yourself, at 5.55.am the bin lorry came every morning to collect the waste & took great pleasure in making as much noise as possible, the room was fine as were the staff, the location of the hotel for someone with walking difficulties is a joke to be moved here, when a hotel or apartment is booked solely for the location & to be moved to this location it feels like your holiday may as well be spent in a prison, we were told when we complained over the location to simply get a taxi in to town, oh well thats OK then, problem sorted at 5-6 euros a go 4 times a day plus tips this is what we have come on holiday to do, great thats a solution to a problem that is no fault of our party, all 3 of our party asked within days if we could return back to the UK instead of continue our stay at the compestela we hated it their that much, as for a quiet location every morning around 4am all we could here (being at the front of the hotel) was drunk gangs of lads walking passed singing football songs, well i say singing, i actually think some of them may have been cutting off their fingers with a blunt knife, think finger nails down a black board, it was this bad.
would i recommend this hotel, the rooms are fine the staff are pleasant, location NO, quiet NO, would i stay there free NO."

Pretty good standard
"Stayed at the compostela beach club golf II apartments for a week in October. The apartments are really spacious and very clean, towels and beds made most days. The pool ares was nice but we went to the beach most days, its only a 10 minute walk and really nice. The apartments are situated very central, easy access to all areas of tenerife, not more than a 10 minute walk to the restuarants/pubs etc, we didnt need to get any taxi's. Weather was great for that time of year high 20's every day. All in all good apartments"

Didnt wanna come home :(
"I read alot of mixed reviews about this hotel, but overall I feel we touched lucky,
It is in between las Americas and Los Cristianos so it is very quiet at nights Brill for kids I had 3 with me, brill pool (no deep end) brill kids club and Sal the entertainer was excellent he knew all the kids names dont know where he got the energy from!!
The downside was no air condotioning in rooms we hired fans @ 6 euros each but they just circulated the warm air!!!
the restaurant on the complex wasnt great and expensive but we found a cheap supermarket called Supermercado just 15min walk away.
most nights we walked into Las Americas and ate then came bac for the bingo bingo bongo bongo (complete geg) and the quiz
All in all a great holiday!!!
Would def go bac to Compostela"

"when we arrived we got the complete wrong impression...as it is small and the room were not ready we all had to wait. after being shown to our apartment I was very pleased with the size of the one bedroomed apt. it was very clean and the staff were excellent. they couldnt do enough for you. the only downside to this complex is that there is no air conditioning and therefore we had to rent fans. the entertainment was ok but Sal (the entertainer ) was a gem. he has a brill personality and knows everyone by name. he made the holiday for the children and the adults. the location of the apartments is excellent and 10mins walk will take you to the main resort areas. the team at compestela are very professional and helpful at all times and I would stay again. we booked with First Choice and the reps were just ok...they didnt interact with us at all and only spoke to us at the boting welcome meeting and I felt that they could have supported Sal more in relation to the guests. Well done Sal, Abel & Rodger"

Belting hotel, cracking location - just about perfect
"Where to start - 2 x 20 somethings on a couple type holiday - upon arrival at 2am due to delays we were booked in and straight into the room, overlooking the pool on the ground floor.
Very spacious, fair sized kitchen with big fridge and small freezer coffee maker, standard oven type stuff, pots pans you get the gist, massive lounge / diner.
Big bedroom with huge wardrobe and plenty of hangers, floor safe(30 euros for the week with 20 of that being a refundable deposit), immaculately clean, slot payment TV if such things interest you and fresh towels in the huge bathroom complete with bath, shower, slightly droopy shower rail and although not needed by us - disabled rails by toilet and bath.
The balcony / terrace had a drying rack and ours got the sun from 5 pm onwards which was perfect.
Room was cleaned daily - fresh towels each time, beds made etc. First day the cleaner rang the buzzer tried to open up (we were still in bed at 10am) but the doors have chains. After a brief chat she realised we were not the early riser types and only came to clean in the afternoons from then onward without being asked. Also the hot water never runs out - each room has a boiler.
No Air Con, No water in fridge on arrival, no washing up kit (towel, clth, soap) for dishes. Nothing major really.
The whole place cleaned by 9am, pool, floors the works. Very friendly staff, on site bar / restaurant serves breakfast and snack type food (some pretty substantial meals) until 5pm then the restaurant takes over with a new menu at 7pm - ate twice (pizza 7 euro and a sandwich 3 euro - for the money not bad at all)
On site "supermarket" - its a glorified corner shop but is perfect for water, fresh bread in the morning and all those little things (like washing kit)
Something we didn't need was the kiddy type stuff - play pen, Sal the entertainment guy who kept the kids going day and night and tried for the adults at night (Bingo not being for us - we didn't bother)
Easy to hear everything going on at nights room to room, up down left and right so if you get the old chavs next door you will be woken - reception moved several couples around the complex due to this and tried their best - no real grumbles.
The shop - beer is small in choice and large in price to get you to buy at the bar - lager being about 2 euro 80 cents (£2 at the time) so not really bad at all especially when you head away from the hotel and get stung for 5 euro in the top areas.
Cheeky 1 euro 50 to hire a 1 inch thick mattress for the sun loungers by the pool although it is for the day and you can still move anywhere you want.
On a sort of middle note - check out was at 11 in the AM and our flight was at 9 PM so we paid 30 euro to keep the room. They do have very clean toilet / shower rooms and bag storage - ideal if you have not got a full day to wait.
Also beware the higher sun lounging area above the pool only at about 2 and 4pm do the golf course sprinklers kickk in and depending on the breeze you can get slightly damp.
10 to 20 minutes walk depending on your speed gets you to Las VISTAS beach (grey sand - crazily hot under foot, showers by the beach, a few bars and restaurants, little supermarkets everywhere) slightly less time gets you to the LAS VISTAS strip, the SAFARI centre with the two colourful domes on top houses the better restaurants in the area and I would highly recommend the mexican and the Italian opposite (white tiles everywhere - I forget the name) Harrys bar in the middle is belting for a chill out with some serious cocktails to be had for 7 euro a time.
The real Shops are everywhere along here, pretty expensive to be fair - got some raybans for internet type prices and if you haggle like mad between stores you can get discounts on everything.
Unless you are quite quite mad don't go near Las Americas strip - obviously if you want two rounds for the price of one and shots in a pretty dirty bar with some southern fried to follow its perfect - it has gone down hill since my last visit 7 years ago and thats saying something.
Taxi's are the only other negative - generally 6 euro will get you from the doorstep of the hotel to outside the safari complex - they did try to short change and over charge several times so its worth just giving them 6 euro and agreeing that will be the price.
**Meals, hints and general guidance**
For the beach and safari complex - We walked out to the right; down the road to the car park in front of the offices (200 meters), cut through the car park to the busy road (zebra crossing points everywhere - the cars actually stop for you to) across the road and down the slight hill towards the small restaurants Continue around the right hand bend to the roundabout (if you cross over on the bend itself there is a big supermarket on the left a pretty good fruit shop just on the turning next to a reasonable spanish restaurant) You then cross over and head down hill towards the sea front - At the next junction straight on gets you to the beach and right gets you to the food or left for the matter (monkey bar being very nice although a medium rare steak is almost raw so be specific when ordering)
There was a trip to Santa Cruz - Not worth it at all unless you have a specific pair of sun glasses or an electrical item in mind - internet is on a par with the prices for this stuff - clothes were very expensive and the city itself was grubby, mad with traffic and not at all pleasant.
In all if I were to return to the area I would certainly use the COMPOSTELA II again, not to be confused with the COMPOSTELA by the beach or the COMPOSTELA III.

Quality short stay, ideal location
"We visited this resort as a group of 4 lads to celebrate a 21st birthday. We stayed for four nights and flew from Liverpool.
We picked this hotel based upon reviews on this website and also other sites. Even though we where there for the nights out we did not want to stay directly near the main strip for obvious reasons!
We found the apartments to be in an absolutely ideal location. It was of equi-distance between Las Americas and Los Cristianos and so we used both to good effect, i.e. restaurants in Los Cris, nightlife in Las Americas. The walk to each was about a steady ten minutes.
The apartment itself was spot-on from the minute we got there. We caught a private taxi from the airport which cost us around 20euros, definitely recommended. No hassle checking in, the room was spotless inc large bathroom and kitchen area. We were even treated to the swan/boat towels! (I do have pics to follow which i will try to add at a later date!)
The hotel itself is more of a family oriented place, so if your after pulling at the pool then don't bother! We preferred the beach which again was only a short walk away. We ate food in the hotel restaurant one night and I would recommend this if you don't have time to explore anywhere else. Basic but tasty enough.
For eating out we would recommend the Star of Asia for indian cuisine (even though we had a long wait for food) and also the steak house past the Safari shooping centre at the end of Los Cris, near Park Santiago 1.
Nightlife was great, even in FEB and we would recommend the Bus Stop and accompanying bars before moving on to Yates/Edwards, Down Under (Indie music) and then Tramps and Rags to end night. We never bothered with Veronicas at night. Good tip is to bartar with the PR's to get the decent shots, not Sourz n Schnapps, Linekers was a bit expensive!
To rap it up, would highly recommend both resort and apartments, we had a great trip and all of us agreed we would revisit both in future if possible!"

"we arrived to the golf II after being upgraded from the california(which was the worst experience of my life) and i have to say that i cant say one bad thing about it. the food from the pool bar was lovely, the drinks were relitavely cheap(cocktail 3.20 euro's!), the staff were very friendly with a good level of english, the was a doorman on the main door all night who was very friendly and polite. the pool and surrounding area was very clean. the apparments were very clean, nice, and supplied everything needed adn more.maids visited nearly every day.shop attached and a 24hr supermarket and lovely restaurant opposite (short walk through the park) only 10 min walk to beach, clubs and center of las americas and 5 euro taxi.pay phone just outside appartment. cant fault these appartments as they were beautiful and suitable for any age. highly recommended."

What a great upgrade
"We, couple early 50's, booked to stay in California Apartments. When we arrived we were told that there was a problem with the water supply to our room and that we were being upgraded free of additional charge to the Compostela beach 2. this was a much better hotel, nice large apartment with all facilities, brandy glasses as well as wine glasses in the kitchen - and a corkscrew- (How many times do you have to go and buy a corkscrew because there isn't one in the kitchen?!!!)
Nice bar with cheap drinks for a hotel, good pool. Did not try the food - hotel caters mainly for scandanavian guests and food seems to cater for them although I am sure other more familiar food available. BBQ 1 night and spanish feast every saturday.
Only drawback - 15-20 mins walk to centre of Playa. Would definitely reccommend to all ages and all groups.
PS Beware anyone offering accommodation in Compostela Beach 3 we were told the developers had fallen out and the resort does not have the appropriate licences"

Better than expected
"I was expecting the worst after reading very bad reviews but I have to say I was delighted with the hotel. We stayed for a week in august in Compostella Beach Golf 2. The appartments were clean, no cockroches & based 10minutes walk out of town so it was pretty quiet at night. The staff were very friendly but the bar food was terrible and over priced. the pool was clean but if wanted to use the sunbeds you had to pay 1.50 eur which was a rip off. If you are planning on going on excursions dont book through your rep as they tried to charge us nearly 20 eur more than what you can buy locally. The whale and dolphin cruise is fantastic and well worth it. I wouldnt recomend the hotel for groups as it was mainly familys and couples staying and also its quite far from all the main nightclubs and bars."

"We stayed at Compostela Beach Golf II during August 2006 for 2 weeks.
Apartments are of a really good standard. we stayed in an interior apartment on the ground floor. apart # 152
Cleaned every day bar two...although bins are emptied on the other two days.
Great kitchen, good size master bedroom and bathroom good size clean and powerful shower
pool is a good size, with no very deep end, this is brilliant if, like us, you have children under age of 10. Pool cleaned regular, poolside cleaned thorougly every single morning.
All Staff very friendly and welcoming
Nice restaurant, reasonably priced for breakfasts, meals and snacks. Bar prices not cheap but are any?
Positioned outside of the town centre.
placed nicely for 3 resorts - las americas, vistas and los christanios...return taxi from each resprt cost a max. of 5 euro.
Poolside was a little slippy but if you walk on the white tile sections they have more grip. Seen a couple of children slip and hurt themselves. Ambulance had to be called for one early teens irish boy who had to be taken to hospital for a couple of stiches to his forehead.
If booking private transfer from airport ensure you tell driver Compestalla Beach club Golf II - we orignally got dropped off at town centre compestalla beach. I think there are 3 of simlar name in the resort of las Americas.
Nothing really bad to say - although I guess it could be noisy if you were staying in an exterior apartment overlooking main road (although not too busy)
The one negative - they allow same sex groups of young adults to stay - which made sleep during our first week a little interupted.
Supermarket next door was handy but expensive.
Overall a great place to spend two weeks. Would recommend to friends and family."

We loved it
"Just home after a one week. The hotel and staff was very nice. Big clean rooms. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would come again. We were all inclusive and it was worth the price. The food was varied and very good. Bar drinks had a choice which included the all-inclusive rate there was beer, wine, sangria, and a few drinks and of course lemonades to the kids."

Compostella golf II
"Just home after a 2 weeks self catering family hol in the compostela golf II. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would go back in the morning. The hotel is really clean and the 2 bed apt was very spacious. As we were sc we werent eating in the resturant so cant comment. On the negative side the night life and the entertainment at the hotel wasn't great and I think they could do with a few more entertainment staff. We found the reception staff really helpful and anything we asked for they wee very helpful. The hotel is about 10min walk from main shopping area and we found this fine and so did the kids aged 13,11 and 9. Good holiday had by all."
