Last minute hotel change
We have just arrived back today the 24th March from the Marylanza suites and spa, this was a last minute change of hotel for us as we had originally booked the Paradise Park hotel and unfortunately they could not accommodate us, however a big thank you to Rhada Dadwani of the Paradise Park hotel and our booking agents Travel Republic for booking us in to the Marylanza, the hotel was absolutely fabulous in a great location with superb choice of food and lovely helpful immaculate staff,I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice hotel if a little expensive through Thomson
"Just back from one week at the marylanza and I have to say I enjoyed the experience. I agree with anther poster that its expensive for what and where it is, but I wanted a last minute holiday and had little choice available to me. I am overall glad I chose the marylanza.
Location: 15 minute walk from the beach and 20 from a reasonable selection of shops. We'd gone there for a 'Do nothing' holiday so this was fine for us.
Room: We stayed in D116 which would have overlooked the golf course, if it wasn't for the large hedge so our balcony hd no outlook but at least it was quiet and private. Bedroom, living area and bathroom was spacious and generally clean. Cleaners did a good efficient job each day. This was set up as a self catering room with cooker, microwave etc and to be honest I think I'd have preferred this if it had been on offer.
Staff: friendly, helpful, always had a smile. What more can I say? Well done.
Food: plenty of choice. Food was cooked very well, presented very well and while some said it was smart, I'm dumbfounded as to what they would need to say the choice was excellent! One criticism I do have, however, is that the cooked food was always cool, despite being early in for dinner and lunch. There was freshly cooked meats available which were fine, but the buffet meats were always colder than I thought was sensible. The buffet area had temperature controlled hoods, but I never once saw anyone check the temperature of the meats underneath.
On our last day they moved the lunch buffet to the poolside 'due to demand' however I felt this very much reduced the quality and choice of food on offer, and made the pool area look like a school exam room with all the tables... It also removed the opportunity to get away from the cats and pigeons combing the area. Bad choice marylanza, not a 4 star option in my opinion.
Soft Drinks were very watered down... Especially the orange juice, apple juice etc... These didn't really taste much like what they were intended to be. The free wine was a bit harsh and the beer was ok, if diluted with a little fake-sprite.
The Kentia restaurant food was excellent and the wine tasted better than the free option elsewhere. We were allowed one night in here on our all inclusive and I'm glad we chose to do it. Good service, good food.
Pools: there were a few smallish pools, but they were never busy so size wasn't an issue. There were plenty of sunbeds, always at least two dozen or more available despite the inevitable towel hoggers which the hotel did nothing about, but they they didn't have to as it wasn't a problem during our stay.
Spa: had an enjoyable afternoon in the spa one day, well kitted out, celan, relaxing. My wife also had a sports massage while there. A a masseuse herself, she rated it highly.
Entrance and inside bar. A inviting area, well decorated with occasional entertainment in the corner. Generally sufficient seating but lacked a cool area. Got uncomfortable to sit here when it filled up on a warm night. Bar drinks were sufficient and bar staff friendly.
All in all, an enjoyable holiday but a little expensive for what it was. Need to get rid of the poolside-only lunch the cold buffet meats and sort out those soft drinks. Or have a self catering option."

"My husband and I stayed at this hotel in early January and were blown away by the suite we were allocated -H304. It was beautiful. The food was excellent both in the restaurant and pool bar and the staff were excellent - specially reception. It was my husband's birthday while we were there and we returned to our suite one afternoon to find a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket waiting for us which was a lovely gesture and one which we both appreciated. The staff in the bar at reception should be commended for their friendliness and attitude . The only thing wrong with this holiday was the fact that we had to go home !!!!"

very good hotel
"we have just returned from our holiday at the marylanza hotel, which we very much enjoyed :)the food was very nice at the start of our holiday but by the end we found it very boring as the food was always the same pretty much.our rooms where spotless as was everywhere else in the hotel.the entertainment was good ,you had the choice of activities to do during the day around the pool and there where small activities at night ,i have noticed how many oeople have rated this hotel down on the entertainment, pleasebear in mind it is only 1 girl all on her own running all the activities from 10 in the morning to half ten at night,i wish i had asked her name she deserves a medal for putting up with some of the kids at the disco.if anyone found out the girls name i would be very grateful as i intend on writing an email to the hotel."

I'm surprised to see so many positives
"This hotel would certainly not rate at anything like 4 stars anywhere else. The rooms are equipped to a very basic timeshare standard.
Direct dial phone from your room requires you to either lodge a cash deposit with reception or give a credit card number everytime. It's easier to use the pay phones outside or a mobile.
No bottled water provided in the rooms, unusual for a hotel supposedly rated at 4 star.
I am surprised people can sleep on the thin hard matresses which are covered with a plastic matress protector. They are very uncomfortable and overly hot.
Double beds are in fact twin beds pushed together and made up as singles. Honeymoon couples beware!
Internet access is only available in the main foyer, there is no internet access available in the room, even on a pay to use basis.
There are two restaurants. One is a buffet and the other the a la carte. When we attempted to visit the a la carte one we were told it was fully booked until Friday when the had tables spare, and only four bookings in the diary on each day.
The coffee was pretty bad.
Our room had a number of faulty ligth bulbs, the TV wouldn't work and a number of the appliances wouldn't work. We were refused a change of room, although this did happen eventually.
The so called 'adult' pool was overrun with children.
There was a scarcity of any information about hotel facilities.
The main bar closes at 10:30 forcing anybody who wants a late drink to face the disco.
It seems quite a long way away from anything worth going to in Las Americas. We usually made the half hour walk to Los Christianos.
There seems to be quite a lot for kids to do round the place, in addition to the pools.

Just 10 minuttes walk to beach, very nice and clean beac. Nice retaurants, and lots of shops, good shops.
The food at the hotell was a 10 point!! best ever at a hotell, freash, so much to choose from, something for everybody :)

The best Tenerife expierence yet
"The Marylanza is a very good 4 star hotel Absolutely spotless with the most friendly staff we have ever seen anywhere. In fact I did cheekily ask Reuben one of the waiters if they were fed happy pills at the start of each shift.
The food was excellent although not always hot enough sometimes. My wife ate so much fish in the 11 days we stayed that I had to stop her trying to return to the sea.
Entertainment was so so but we are not really hotel entertainment types so no bother there. The rooms were very spacious and clean.
I must single out 2 of the reception staff for special praise.
Alicia Atalaya head of reception for her patience and managing a change of rooms for us after the first day. Now this is not your normal "something wrong with our room please move us" We were in the most exclusive location overlooking the golf course and mountains which is actually about 30 euros a day extra. However in January the sun did not get onto the balcony at all. In summer that would be a bonus but that time of year a bit chilly. She gave us the only room just vacated on the side of the building which was fine by us a s we got sun 4 hours in the afternoon. The hotel was and is fully booked for some months yet so she was under a lot of pressure. Thank you Alicia.
The other one was a great guy Rudi Pulyaert (Belgian) he was the most friendly and helpful guy you could ever wish to meet. Any information you wanted was there in seconds and he always greeted us by name.
To sum it up the best hotel experience we have had in our years of globetrotting and this is in most part down to the staff the sun and the great food.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Maryla...
"Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Marylanza hotel from the 5th of September to the 12th 2008 and had a brilliant time. We stayed on the all inclusive option. Had read alot of reviews before trip some good some bad so was quite nervous about what hotel was going to be like!! Arrived in the morning to be greeted by a lovely receptionist whos name sadly we didnt catch she was very nice and helpful but we didnt see her for the rest of the holiday!! Which was a shame as the other staff could learn a lesson or two from her! Room very nice stayed in room f105 which we loved, view from balcony not too bad but not as nice view as the rooms over looking the golf course as we had requested. Room very spacious with kitchen area with hob and microwave which we didnt need as all inclusive but would of been handy!! Bedroom perfect size but was two twin beds pushed togehter which was a little inconvient but most hotels we have visited have been this way. Cleaners very good room was always nice and tidy and beds made when ever we came home. One day we didnt get up till late and the cleaners came in whilst we where sleeping but kindly came back later in the day whilst we where out which was unexpected! Whole hotel very impressive loved the spa although a little expensive so only got to visit once!! The only thing we had to grumble about was about the restraunte, the impression we got was that there were 3 different restuarantes in the hotel which turn out there was only one,the food was great lots of variety and well presented, we just found that eating in the same room 3 times a day got a little boring and the room could to with some different decor. couldnt complain about food at all, it also mentioned that there was a theme night 3 times a week but we only had one which was a chinese night but that was very good. we found the service in the restraunte differed from night to night some nights quite friendly and others the waiters seemed they were unhappy with serving you.One particular occasion was at breakfast, we where very thirsty and wanted a glass of water howver the water was warm! we then asked for a soft drink only for one the waiters to say soft drinks werent included at breakfast which was a pain as nither of us drank tea or cofee also snacks not included in all inclusive! all in all tho a great hotel not to far from nightlife as no entertaiment aprt from one night the comdey elvis who was good. walk to beach a little far but we rented a moped so that was handy.would go back in a few years!! very good hoilday!"

Excellent hotel. Great facilities, food...
"Excellent hotel. Great facilities, food is excellent and great location.
3 pools including one for kids which is quieter if you want to relax. Bizarrely, even though it is all inclusive, the snacks at the bar is chargeble (not drinks) however I think this may be because some people are on bed and breakfast.
Would definately go back and actually went on recommendation. We weren't disappointed.

Just returned from our 2 week honeymoon....
"Just returned from our 2 week honeymoon. Had a fantastic time. The Hotel is impressive, rooms are really well presented and cleaned regularly. Location is just right if you want a bit of peace of quiet but 5 minute taxi to bars etc. The food is great, a bit 'different' to what us british are used to but isn't that part of the holiday experience? Some very nice choices though most days. The pool is brilliant, a little short on sunbeds but if you get your towel down early enough you shouldn't have a problem. Staff can be a bit obrupt but i think thats just the spanish way sometimes! Did get a little busy towards the end of the holiday which meant having to wait sometimes but they do try their best. The entertainment is not the best, Comedy Elvis was ace and the Drifters tribute was pretty good. Don't expect a 5 star hotel as described by our lovely travel agents, its a good 4 star to be honest."
