Marylanza Suites & Spa

"I have just returned from a weeks all inclusive at the Marylanza. My husband and our 3 sons aged 15, 12 and 9 came along also, the hotel is average, the food was poor. The entertainment was very poor. all in all i would not recomend this hotel. It is too far off the beaten track. The hotel is also supposed to be a golf resort???? this is where we all became very puzzled. The golf course is a good 25 mins walk away, you would need to take a taxi. Hardly any of the rooms look over the golf course as it shows they do on their website, nearly all of them face a dusty road. Some of the staff were helpful, but some of them rude.
We would not go back. Also it is 4 star not 5 as they say."

"We have just returned from a week at this beautiful hotel. It has been recently refurbished - and done so in excellent taste. The lobby and pool area are lovely - very spacious and plently of NON PLASTIC sunbeds. Delightful.
The room was huge - much bigger than we could have expected. Separate bedroom/ bathroom and lounge/ kitchen area.
It is situated just a 15 minute walk from both Los Christionas and Playa de las Americas - which I found ideal because you are out of the way of the hussle and bustle of tourists.
Food was very good. More than enough choice, and surely something to cater for everyone. Yes they did have pizza and chips - not that anyone sane would want it with all the beautiful freshly cooked meat, fish and such! Beautiful paella everyday. The food is similar at lunch and dinner - but there is so much choice you could have a different meal every day if you wanted!!! Breakfast delicious too - eggs/ cereal/ smoked salmon/ cold meats and cheese/ fresh bread/ toast and fresh fruit. Sole complaint is that the coffee is out of a machine - but fear not fresh coffee is served out at the pool bar from 10am.
Yes one of the pools is a little on the colder side - but when it was 30 or so degrees I was glad of cooling off. It was more than warm enough to swim in!!! The heated pool is like a lukewarm bath all the time!!
Views overlooking the mountains and golf course are suitably picturesque!
Drinks included on AI were lovely. Beer fine, wine ok (red better than the white) water, sangria, soft drinks, spirits, tea coffee etc. Yes - during the day they are served in plastic glasses - but you are by the pool - so of course they are!
The entertainment is a little lacking in truth. During the day there were a few activities - but I think they are in the process of getting their act together. Evening entertainment finishes at 10,30pm and is a little on the placid side. Town is nearby - so it is far from a disaster.
Overall the holiday was EXCELLENT. One of the most tastefully decorated I have ever seen in the Canaries. No chintz in sight. Food plentiful and fresh. Drinks free. Pool area beautiful - and with 3 pools - you can still have peace and quiet with children about.
I would say excellent for those who want a relaxing break - with or without children - and close to town for those who want to hit the tiles.
Well done Marylanza. Super holiday had."

Perfect for family with young children
"We were struggling to find somewhere for a lastminute half-term week holiday for the four of us - the kids being 6 and 8. Flights everywhere were extortionate but the cost of the Marylanza was amazingly good value. Yes it is 4 star, yes the food is a bit humdrum eating the same buffet in the same restaurant for virtually all your meals for a week, yes the entertainment was cheesy (but for that we were glad as we don't go in for that anyway and it wasn't intrusive) yes there occasionally was a smell from the toilets or drains.....
BUT - staff very friendly and helpful
- room absolutely perfect for family our size -
bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, living room with two sofa / beds for the kids and good size balcony.
- everything spotless and marble gleaming
- no problems with lack of soap or glasses etc
food (if humdrum) good quality
- all inclusive not inclusive of snacks but for under £700 in half term week for family of four very very good value
- pools lovely, plenty of space (given not really high season)
- easy access to the motorway
- easy access to Los Cristianos or Playa Las Americas for an evening stroll - albeit we did drive down to the beach
All in all for the price, for a family with small kids BRILLIANT"

"First class hotel and not too far from the beaches of Las Americas and Los Cristianos.
Our room was extremely spacious and spotlessly clean. Air con worked fine and our shower did have a curtain!
The pool areas were never too busy and beds were available at all times. Pool bar closes at 1800, so you need to use lobby bar. Quite difficult to get served later in the evening when people have had dinner and because of the high ceilings, can get quite noisy. However, its a good place to meet people. Entertainment not up to much and not much for children either.
The meals are excellent. Lots of choice and many things are cooked when requested. As another reviewer mentioned, there is caviar and champagne every morning for breakfast, not bad for a 4* hotel!
We will definitely be back"

"Great layout to this hotel, 3 swimming pools one heated & active pool (great for families) rings & blow ups were allowed, children could make noise and not annoy older guests or couples at the quiter pools, these 2 other cold quite pools (couldn't go in these pools in June!! brrr) plenty of loungers poolside - no need to rush to the pool in the morning!
Enclosed outdoor play area for the children near the pool
Hotel rooms were great, but not all looking over the golf course as we had expected, also everyone we came across including ourselves had a view of the road (a quite road but still a road!) on arrival your offered the choice of upgrading to the golf course view, and the golf course is not part of the hotel its just named the 'Marylanza golf resort'
Food here was high quality in our opinion, there are 'no snacks' at pool bar between 4.30-5.30 as stated on their website though and ice cream is charged to your room in the day, plenty of choice for youngsters in dinning room.
The only thing this hotel lacked was entertainment at night, this was provided some nights but starts at 9.30 and is over with by 10.30 and the bars close/stop serving any drinks at 12pm
Taxi to the centre where it's all happening approx £3-00, beach was approx 20min walk (wouldn't have walked it with young children)
4star - 5star
Overall this hotel is great for families or couples alike - worth a visit!"

A very pleasant stay
"My girlfriend and I have just returned from the Marylanza after a weeks All Inclusive holiday. Our very first impressions of the hotel were good. The lobby is very spacious and nicely laid out and the reception staff are most welcoming and efficient. They clearly laid out what was included and what was extra. There was no porter service that I could see (not a problem for us as we never use them, but perhaps worth mentioning if you are likely to have problems carrying your bags. There was a porter trolly though, which I think guests could use)
It's perhaps worth pointing out that because the Marylanza is not exlusively and All inclusive hotel if you have taken this option you have to wear a green band on your wrist, which you can't take off. I honestly didn't mind, but you have to remember to move it every once in a while to prevent tan lines! :o)
The room was very clean and tastefully decorated. Plenty of room for both myself and my girlfriend. There was also a small outside patio / balcony area to sit, which was reasonably private. As usual, we like to explore a little after arriving and we were a little disappointed on the size of the hotel. It is very small in relation to other hotels we've stayed in, but there was 3 pools, (baby, cold - should be renamed freezing!! and a warm one), plenty of sun beds - we never had to rush, a pool bar and a couple of squash courts - which we used. As another reviewer mentioned the gym and spa isn't finished yet, but that should be complete in June apparently.
The pool bar closes at 18:00, so if you want a drink after this you have to go to the lobby bar. The food was very good, with lots of choice and fresh fish / meat cooked every day, different themes, such as chinese one night. The actual restaurant itself is a little disappointing and the hotel would definitely benefit from introducing perhaps a couple of other places to eat to add variety, but that is being a little picky. We did eat out a couple of nights though and I can highly recommend Piccolo's which is down to Los Christianos Beach. The only place to get a drink in the hotel after 6 pm is the lobby, so this tended to get a bit overrun with kids in the evening, but you can take your drinks anywhere and if you really want to go out it's not too far to a bar. Another thing with the food is you can only get it when the restaurant is open, i.e. there is no snack bar included as AI. You can order food from the Pool Bar, which we did once as we missed lunch due to a trip and the food was excellent and very cheap about 8 quid for a big bacon burger with chips and a large freshly cooked pizza!)
The location of the hotel is good and bad.... good because it's out of the extremely tacky Playa Las Americas, but bad because you have to walk a good 15 minutes to get to the beach down quite a steep hill. It is right on the golf course though, so that's good if you play!
So to summarise, the good stuff is cleanliness, staff, food, sun bed availability, location... and not so good was no food out of meal times all inclusive, lack of variety with places to drink / eat, which is down to hotel size, oh and location :o)
Having said all this, I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone as a quality place to go in Tenerife."

"i have just return from the Marylanza hotel. i didnt really know what to expect from the mixed reviews. the hotel was beautiful!! when we arrived there was a man playing a harp in the reception and we felt a bit out of place as it was so posh.
our room was huge!! one of the largest i have stayed in. the air conditioning was a bit slow but we didnt really need it. the shower was ok apart from the shower kurtain that kept falling down.
the pools are lovely. i will recommend to go to the warm pool as we went to the cold one most days( and it really was COLD). the warm pool was much busier but worth it if you plan on having a swim.
The food was lovely, one night we were served steaks, kings prawns and some really tasty salmon, it doesnt get much better than that. there was always lots of salad and fruit everynight. also everynight they made homemade pizzas, they were fab! the deserts were not really exciting but after the main corse we never had room from them anyway. breakfast was always good with a good selection of cooked and cold food. there is a guy at the back of the restaurant that makes fried eggs, pancakes and omelettes every morning, mmmm.
the waiter service in the restaurant was not very good, the staff were obviously over worked and tired but its still no excuse for them to be rude.
the bar was a good laugh at night, again some of the staff were rude but lucas, a bar man, was very friendly and made us all kinds of cocktails to sample(we had to pay for these though). the drinks were huge so after a few everyone seemed to talk to eachother. the pool bar was the same really but it closes at 6pm so a bit annoying if you are a sun worshiper like me who stays out until well after 7pm!
the hotel is in a nice area, only a ten minute walk each way to the busier areas. overall we had a great holiday and made some good friends there, i would recommend this hotel to anyone that doesnt have kids(there is nothing for them to do there)."

"Myself and my husband have just returned from a 9 night stay at this hotel and I have to say it is first class. We booked it through freedom.com and got the 9 nights AI for £417 for the both of us (we also got cheap flights with ryanair for a total of £44!!) So we got a very good deal.
The whole hotel is spotless and tastefully decorated. Our 1 bed apartment was very spacious and cleaned daily by very pleasant chambermaids. (shower curtains are now provided and our air-con worked perfectly). The food in the all-inclusive board was excellent with plenty of variety and well cooked and well presented and as we had a 6.30am departure we were provided with a lovely picnic box to take with us. The waiters all worked extremely hard, no sooner had you finished with your plate and they had it cleared away from the table. Most of the bar staff were quick although we found one (Lucas) to be a bit rude, ignoring us and serving others in front of us!! The pool area is fantastic with plenty of loungers and choice of areas to relax. Location of the hotel is peaceful as it is slightly outside of the resort but a 10 minute walk one way takes you
to Los Cristianos and the other way to Las Americas, so not too far for a night out. Which is what you may want to do as the evening entertainment isn't up to much! As are the day time activities,
(nothing for kids to do, we were glad we didn't bring our 9 year old son as he would have been a bit bored at the pool, he is used to a day time entertainment team as at other hotels)
All in all our stay here was excellent and we would definitely recommend this hotel. We will most definitely return at a future date."

"We have just returned from a fortnight in sunny tenerife staying at the marylanza aprathotel. The hotel is top quality and has very few faults. The food was great, with plenty of choice, champagne caviar and smoked salmon for breakfast!! At Lunch and Dinner there was always something fresh to be cooked while you waited! The staff where fantastic and there wasn't anything to much trouble for them (well except one miserable waitor!!!) Unfortunately the air con wasn't working properly which was a bit of a bind really but they assure us they are getting it sorted and we did see people working on it. The gym and well being centre aren't finished either. There are three pools two of which are heated, they are checked and cleaned regularly, the rooms are spacious and have everything you need, the entertainment is fair but with so much on your doorstep who wants to stay in the hotel all the time anyway??? All in all a great hotel, we would happily return again."

If you like champagne for breakfast.....
"We have just returned from the Marylanza having had a weeks all inclusive holiday. A good time was had by all on the whole. The food was average, we've had better but we've had worse! The hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere and most of the staff were pleasant, although the pool staff were very slow and we did wonder if they were serving the people that were paying for their drinks etc and leaving the all inclusive guests till last! The rooms were a good size and cleaned very well on a daily basis, the overall cleanliness of the hotel is excellent. The evening entertainment is dreadfull, so if you are taking children (as we did) you need to leave the hotel in the evening to find alternative entertainment, There is also no kids club during the day either. One more small gripe, the beds are very hard and uncomfortable, went back with a bad neck and bad back! Best part of the holiday was the Bucks fizz and caviar for breakfast every morning, yum yum."

Last minute hotel change
We have just arrived back today the 24th March from the Marylanza suites and spa, this was a last minute change of hotel for us as we had originally booked the Paradise Park hotel and unfortunately they could not accommodate us, however a big thank you to Rhada Dadwani of the Paradise Park hotel and our booking agents Travel Republic for booking us in to the Marylanza, the hotel was absolutely fabulous in a great location with superb choice of food and lovely helpful immaculate staff,I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.
