Perfect except noise concerns

"New , modern complex. Our apartmeny was very clean and had superb decoration and furniture. Nice and friendly community. We liked our owner and property manager. Walk to Golf course. If apartment is by the road car noise is disturbing during the sleep. If apartment is close to the Club house there is noise from music and entertainment at night. Airplanes fly right above and rather low. Some people get used to it. We could not. The area is a bit cooler than Los Christianos Area even though not too far. At least this is how we felt. "

"Booked for 2weeks, stayed 2 hours.WHat a dump. The complex photographers wages must be tripled, quadrupled. The description of the complex must have been written by Hans Christian Anderson !!! THe complex is "Z" rated. Nothing is open, snack bar food is inedible, tried to eat something while whilst cook was watching "coronation street".PLanes are landing LIterally 100 meters overhead, other reviewers said it did not bother them, must have been owners comments or friends. THE experiance has cost me dearly and i am not a wealthy man. Owner has refused to admit false advertising and kept the whole 2wks rent. "DONT GO"!!! as one previous reveiwer said."

"We had 2 fabulous weeks at the Palms. Our accommodation was in a 1-bed privately owned bungalow, which was comfortably furnished and had everything you could possibly need. The bungalow was clean, comfortable, and well situated. The Jacuzzi in the bathroom was a welcome asset at the end of a hot day.

Although directly under the flight path for planes landing, at Reine Sofia airport (6 miles away) this did not bother us at all. In fact, after 2 weeks you COULD seriously turn into an airplane anorak!

There is entertainment in the bar every night. They also serve food from breakfast throughout the day and evening. There are 4 swimming pools to choose from and the grounds of the complex are kept very clean and tidy.

As a wheelchair user, we found the complex very easy to get around. The area itself is very pleasant, although there is a LOT of building work on the way to the sea front in various stages of completion.

The local shopping and restaurant area of San Blas is very easy to get to, although a little hilly in parts. The supermarket in San Blas (Netto) had everything you could want, but was quite pricey and the fruit was not of a very good quality. A 5 euro taxi ride takes you to the Mercado, just outside of Golf Del Sur. Prices here are much lower, and the quality of the food is much better.

This was our first visit to Tenerife and we have already booked to go back next year.

If you are celebrating a special occasion, we recommend the Lobster Pot in San Blas. The food is excellent, but you get what you pay for and it isn't cheap.

I would recommend the area for people looking for a quiet and restful holiday. Unlike 'Americas' and Los Cristianos, Golf Del Sur does not have the crowds, stag and hen parties, time-share touts etc. so is ideal for families with young children who can be assured that the area is as quiet during the day as it is during the night (airplanes excepted)."

We Love The Palms

"After reading one of your reports regarding The Palms Golf And Country club Tenerife, I needed to have my say. We have spent many weeks there in the last year and infact bought one of the bungalows. As from Dec 31st 2005 the time share has now gone, so all the bungalows are being sold (lease hold). There have been many refurbs. The bungalows are excelent and very clean, and well maintained, everything you need for a great holiday. Whith 4 pools, excelent pool bar-restaunt and very friendly people who will help with anything. If you want loads of nighteclubs, late wild parties and drunks then this is not for you. If you want a relaxed holiday but with lots to do then this is for you. There are many bars and restaurants around the golf del sur and all have entertainment. The Golf Del Sur is very safe.
The public transport is excelent and there are plenty of taxis. If you want to hire a car there are lots to choose from.
In all we love The Palms and The Golf Del Sur and so have all the guests we have had (many have re-booked).
There is some aircraft noise but only 2 days a week busy (exept school holidays)but you soon get used to it.
Come and see for yourself and have a great holiday."

The Palms don't do it! Golf del sur is OK

"We have just returned from a week's stay in the Palms Golf & Country Club in Golf Del Sur, San Miguel de Abona, Tenerife and will not be returning.

We were placed in two appartments which back directly on to the main Golf Del Sur ring road which is busy and noisy at most times of the day and night .

The appartments we stayed in are tired and run down and are in need of refurbishment. Whilst the furniture seems ok the main cause of our complaint was that the appartments have suffered from damp (at some time) which has caused the plaster in the rooms and on the terraces to crack and fall off the wall (see photos) which we felt was not safe for our young daughter, also the front door hadn't been painted for years and peeling paint and cracks and a gap at the bottom.

On reporting our dissatisfaction to the the reception team they sent a cleaner and promised to send maintenance the next day (who did not arrive).

We found the reception team rude and very reluctant to be helpful.

Other information that may be relevant if you are considering visiting the Palms.

- The Palms is directly under the flight path (if you like noting engine numbers or aircraft numbers it's ok) otherwise it can be very noisy

- The appartment kitchens are furnished with a cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle & dishwasher (ours seemed reluctant to clean dishes though)

- The appartment has a TV (some english channels) and a Video

- The Palms used to have an RCI Gold Crown (from 1999) which is still shown in reception but does not now seem to merit this badge of distinction.

- We have read other complaints of cockroaches at the Palms, we found/killed four

In summary, we've visited the Golf Del Sur before and will happily visit it again, but we won't stay at the Palms again."
