About Hotel Chatur Playa Real

The family friendly Playa Real Resort provides a great getaway for those seeking a four-star hotel in stunning Tenerife. With plenty of activities on offer, excellent dining options, and a great atmosphere to boot, this hotel has everything needed for a memorable holiday. Whether you choose to hang out next to the hotel pool, or make the short journey to the beach, you’ll find that you’ll get just what you were looking for — a good time.
When you’re not relaxing, you can enjoy some sports on-site, with table tennis and French bowls on offer, among others. The modern style of the hotel fits in well with the ethos of Costa Adeje, which is one of the newest resort areas in Tenerife. As such, there’s plenty to do once you leave your hotel, with plenty of varied eateries and drinking establishments dotting the shore front. However, as the hotel is specifically set up to be an ‘All Inclusive’ restaurant, you might find that there’s no need to regularly venture away from the resort, not when there is so many snacks and local beverages ready to be sampled.

Room Information and Room Facilities

Guests of the Playa Real Resort can choose from two room types: an apartment (with one or two bedrooms), or a Junior Suite. The accommodation includes twin beds, a sofa bed, satellite TV, air-conditioning, a balcony, while the apartments also come with a kitchenette with a fridge. There’s also a desk and chair in the room.
Which room type you choose will depend on your needs; families may prefer the spaciousness of an apartment as they will allow the family to come together and enjoy an evening together, without going out. The Junior Suites feature a pull-out sofa bed in the living area, which is also ideal for small children but may feel crowded if there are four adults to one room.

Facilities, Entertainment, Activities

Between the sports area and swimming pools, you’ll never run out of activities to keep you busy. There are two pools at Playa Real Resort, one for adults and one for children, which means you get to enjoy a leisurely swim as your kids have fun in their own designated pool; there’s even a lifeguard on duty to ensure nothing goes wrong.
If your kids don’t like swimming then don’t worry, they won’t miss out — there’s a kids club for children aged 4 - 12 that will make sure they have plenty of fun, and even make some friends. However, you won’t always want to be separated from your children. When the time is right, engage in some friendly rivalry by holding a family tournament in one — or all — of the sports available at the resort, which include tennis, table tennis, French bowls, and darts. The hotel also offers a number of services, including currency exchange, car rentals, and excursions.

Food and Drink Options

The All-Inclusive option ensures the guests are kept well fed. Included in this package are staples breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the buffet restaurant, along with snacks, drinks, and tea and coffee. There’s also the option of eating in the a la carte restaurant once a week, which will provide a meal fit for a special occasion. Away from the restaurant, there is also a poolside snack bar, which offers simple meals, drinks, and those all-important ice-creams.
You don’t always have to eat your meals at the hotel, however. If you’re accommodation has a kitchen, you can buy food at the nearby supermarket and make your own meals when you don’t feel like heading out (or even downstairs). Similarly, the plethora of bars and restaurants nearby means you can sample other establishments with ease, too.

Dont believe some of the reviews

"Just returned from The Ocean Palace Hotel and thought that I must writ a review, stayed 7 nights from 17th March 2009.
Found the hotel to be better than expected,on the good side, the staff were very friendly & helpful,on the front desk and in the restaurants and with the whole staff.
The food was very good and varied with more than enough for "seconds".
We went all inclusive and stayed in an appartment over lookinf the pool,we would have liked to have stayed in the hotel part but as this is a German hotel was probably reserved for them.
The hotel and pools are well maintained and clean,We can truthfully say that overall very good!On the downsides,German hotel mainly geared to them, its not a problem, but entertainment was rubbish! 2out of 10 & our room, that should of been cleaned was full of dust & was dirty.
The location was good with a walk up a hill from the beach of approx 15 minutes.
but as I said overall was good about 7.5 out of 10."

New Year Eve Stay??

Reviewed Mon 15th of October 2012

"We were booked into the Ocean Resort for the New Years 2008/Jan 2009. When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that there was no availability as the rooms we destroyed due to bad weather, we stood our ground and demanded to see the rooms that were destroyed? They didn't show us these rooms but eventually they found rooms for us. The hotel seemly has changed hands during the summer and I have to say that I would definitely say it was not very suitable for children of Irish or UK families as the hotel is more geared at the German Market. The staff was not very friendly. The New Year Eve Party cost us 150 euros for 2a&2c the food looked lovely but a poor selection for kids and the ball was disgraceful a group of kids doing the entertainment, wish was again very poor. All local beer only. The Irish Bar was in name only, it was far from the craic of an Irish Bar also a very dark and boring bar. The disco bar was also as bad. The only thing going for the hotel was it was clean. We would get taxi's down to Playa de las America for a bit of life. We were later informed that this was low season and many of the places were closed. The local shop which was poorly stocked no factors, bread or goodies for the kids. I wouldn't recommend this hotel."

Not the best

Reviewed Fri 28th of December 2012

"My family and I have just returned from a weeks break here, when we first arrived we thought wow what a lovely place to stay and it was lovely very clean and the rooms were well equiped, with a bedroom and kitchenette, bathroom and living room with two sofa beds. The pools were nice and there was a park on each side of the hotel for little children. the weather was lovely and warm we didn't really have a bad day. The only thing I can complain about is that on 31st October 2008 the hotel changed hands and it is now a German hotel, everything from the entertainment to the menu were in German, there was a bar in the hotel where there was an english girl doing a karaoke but that was the same evey night and although the hotel was all inclusive once the dinner was over at 9pm there was nothing else available to eat no snack bars there were only vending machines. The bar closed at 11:45pm. The staff were friendly but most of them only spoke German. It was a lovely hotel but I wouldn't go back ."

Boring Hotel

Reviewed Thu 27th of December 2012

"Arrived home last night after staying for a week. We were staying in the Nogul apartments which were cleaned every day, fresh towels every day and sheets changed twice a week. The downside was it has been taken over by Alltours which i German through and through. The animation team spoke very little English and were pretty hopeless. No rifle shooting, darts, killer pool etc. They had a game of shuffleboard one day and water aerobics another day but very disappointing. One afternoon they came round with Connect Four and a compendium of games, how exciting can they get. The evening entertainment wasn't up to much either at the showbar where most of the Germans went to and the Irish bar had a female singer on 6 nights a week but even she didn't put a lot of effort into it as it was the same songs every night but she managed to do a game of bingo one night. its usually 3 star we go but this did not come anywhere near to that, (which is supposed to be 4 star). The food selection got better as the week went on but not a variety like some of the hotels we've been to."

You must read this (The Chester's Rotherham)

Reviewed Fri 28th of December 2012

"I have never submitted a review prior to this, but I feel a sense of duty to all none German speaking, Ant hating, Thief loathing people like myself to do so.

I took my family of four away for Christmas and new year, and chose this hotel because its description ticked all the boxes. we even have friends that had stayed at this hotel in August prior to our arrival on December 23rd 2008. On arrival at the hotel and against our request made during the booking of this holiday, we were placed in the Nogul Beach Apartments which is at best a 1/2 Star annex at the rear of the advertised 4 Star Ocean Palace Resort hotel of which lovely pictures are plastered all over the internet and in various holiday brochures. once it was explained to me that the one bedroom apartments were in the Nogul Beach, and to stay in the Ocean Palace, I should have booked a Suite, I realized that the mix up was with my Travel Agent, and nothing to do with the very helpful and apologetic hotel reception staff.
As I mentioned earlier this is the first review I have submitted, so I will keep it short and to the point In the hope that people take note of it, so please consider the following points before you choose this accommodation.

We and many other travelers were in apartments infested with tiny brown ants.

Many travelers had money stolen from their rooms, and were told not to worry as they should have taken insurance out for this type of incident prior to traveling, and refused to take the matter further. You need to use the Safe Deposit in the room at 2 Euro's 50 per day its worth every penny.

{This is a very important point)
In November2008, First Choice were either thrown out, or they dropped this hotel, either way they no longer have any dealings with it.

Because of this I would say that about 95% of all the people including animation crew at this hotel during our stay were German, and their is nothing to indicate that this will change.

To the best of my knowledge not one of the animation crew spoke to anyone other than those from Germany, let alone invite us to participate in any of the activities. A polite hello in pigeon German now and again would have been a slight reward for my constant and improving attempts at German.

The entertainment is very poor to say the very least, and our kids were totally left out. Despite the efforts of some of our kids, the Germans tend to stick to themselves.

A game of Pool will cost you 2 Euros / £2.

If you are unfortunate to experience the odd day of rain as we did, be prepared, this hotel is like a sieve and many people were moved to other accommodation.

This hotel is prone to overbooking, and many people were shipped out to other accommodation on arrival.

There are some positives for this hotel.
The Main Ocean Palace Complex Is very good
The food is very good.
The best Full English Breakfast I have had abroad.
The Pool layout is good, and heated in winter.
The Spanish staff at this hotel are very polite helpful and friendly.
Quarter Pounders at snack time beside the pool are very tasty, but be careful, any more than one order at a time and the chef loses it big time, this guy can't multi task, but he is a nice bloke.
One or two of the Germans were quite pleasant.
And due to the very few English acting like typical English, we made the most of the situation and many new friends.

You would be very naive to expect to arrive at a hotel in Tenerife that does not have varied Nationalities within it, It is after all a very popular winter destination, I just wish they would all play ball.

Fortunately for the very polite, helpful, and friendly staff the majority of English suffer in silence and make do, unfortunately other nationalities don't. And for this reason we will not be going back to the Ocean Palace."

"It is not all as bad as others make out. We spent a fortnight here, not expecting to be in the Nogal annexe but were so had to make the most of it, It was cleaned daily but very basic apartment, had myself, husband, 15 yr old son and 8 yr old daughter all in 1 bed apt supposed to b 2. The sitting area was 2nd bedroom not comfy as a seat or bed that is my main complaint,As for the food, we were all inc and it did get a bit boring but usually something for everybodys taste. Location is great if you want peaceful hols away from busy Las Americas but close enough to walk if you want night life. Entertainment was great for families very varied and the usual childrens disco, bingo, and quizzes as well as outside entertainment brought in. Sunbeds were a bit silly with a few reserved at midnight (english towels not other nationalities)most nights. The hotel was lovely but it is not first choice operating things now as they all left for other places on our last day it has been taken over by a german tour operator so i think changes are inevitable. All in all a great hol met some lovely people who also had a great time."

not an experience to be repeated

Reviewed Wed 26th of December 2012

"after reading recent reviews we did wonder what we were going was not quite as bad as some reviews in that the apartments were very clean, cleaned daily with clean towels and linen twice weekly. However we booked the ocean palace resort not the annexe we were shoved into, this was not made clear when the holiday was booked!
if we had wanted to stay in a second class ANNEXE we would have booked that
the restaurant ...and I am being generous calling it a restaurant could only be compared to a bad Pontins experience and after being ill after eating there we stopped eating at the hotel
the pool area was shabby and run down very much in need of an upgrade- many chipped tiles and wobbly steps in the pool
a member of staff walked about with a life guard top on but never sat at the pool !
shades and parasols- in a time of being urged to take care in the sun - very difficult as there was a distinct lack of them, perhaps ten in the whole place - all with spokes and the like hanging put - disgusting!

definitely not a place we would recommend and will not return to"

Just what we were after.

Reviewed Thu 27th of December 2012

"Got back from here a couple of days ago and had a really good time.
i went with my friend and we went for a clubbing holiday. didn't want to stay in the centre of Plays De Las Americas as we wanted a nice quiet hotel during the day. It was only 10 Euro's there and back so we were pleased with our choice.
When we walked into our room we were very plesantly surprised. It was more like an apartment and had every thing we could have asked for. After speaking to people at the hotel some peopl weren't happy with the rooms but to be perfectly honest, i think they were just really fussy!!
We got chatting to the bar staff and found them very friendly and helpful. One problem with the staff was one night at reception i had. The only places you can get water from are the coolers in the bar as they do not give out bottles of water (although we were all inclusive). One night when we stayed in we needed water but was told we could not have any as bars were closed!this was only at 12.30am and i thought it was bad they do not provide you with water. Luckily because we knew the bar staff they allowed us to fill up a bottle but i would advise to go to shop next door and buy a couple of bottles to keep in your room.
We did not have a problem finding a sunbed in the morning (well early afternoon for us really) which was good but then we did go late on in the season.
The pool was clean and all sunbeds washed every morning. Quite a family orientated resort and lots of entertainment for the kids to keep them happy. The evening entertainment was also good. A quiz and bingo every night which we found a bit boring but they did have a snake show and parrot show, comedians and singers so something for everyone really.
The food did get a bit repeatitive. After 6days we couldn't stomach any more as it was pretty much the same everyday. We decided to go down the road to the Slow Boat chinese and that was a lovely change.
Adeje is quite a small resort but as i said it is cheap and easy to get into Playa De Las Americas for either nightlife or shopping.
Nightlife is really good. Bars instead of clubs but just as good atmosphere. I would def recommend going to Bobby's when they have a foam party if that's your kind of thing!
If you want to know anything else feel free to message me and i'l do what i can to help. XX"

A Palace it isn't!!!

Reviewed Wed 31st of October 2012

"After we had booked our holiday we then read many bad reviews on the Ocean Palace. However our experience was not quite as bad as some reviews made out. The complex does have issues and is definitely nearer to a 3-star rather than a 4-star.

We booked 3 apartments for our party of 9 (6 adults, 1 child & 2 infants). After reading reviews (and because we had booked apartments and not suites) we expected to be placed in the Nogel Beach annex. However we ended up being placed in the main building of the Ocean Palace. A palace it isn’t, but it did the job!

Our rooms were ok, quite spacious, clean and well-equipped; it had a large balcony with partial sea views and caught the sun mid-afternoon. We were lucky enough to be placed at the far end of the complex, so noise was minimal. Our air-conditioning worked fine. My only real issue with our room was the couple of steps down into the living area, coupled with being a tiled floor was a problem with an active 1 year old baby!

The communal areas of the hotel are a little dated and run-down, with many mis-matched worn sofas and chairs ‘plonked’ here and there inside the main building.
Any cleanliness issues were mainly the fault of disrespectful holiday-makers who chose to leave food, plates etc all around the hotel (including inside the lift!) rather than using the bins provided. I only saw 2 small cockroaches during our entire stay, one near one of the lifts and one (a tiny one!) in the courtesy room on our last day.

The pool areas are very slippery and there are sun bed issues! There are nowhere near enough sun beds and the hotel rule of not reserving sun beds until 9am was not adhered to. We were unable to find a single bed on our first day and so did as others did and went out early to put our towels out, well my husband did!! Despite many rumours of a hotel clampdown, our towels were never removed during our 10 night stay. It did get silly towards the end of our stay, when we heard that some went out to reserve their sun beds at about 1 o’clock in the morning!!!

Main pool area gets quite noisy mid-afternoon due to pool activities (water volleyball etc), ok if you like that sort of thing!

The food!! The hotel try’s to cater too much for what they think the British want. When I go on holiday I think it is nice to try more local cuisine and I’m not sure that an attempt at a roast dinner is the right food to be serving, but that’s just my opinion.
Breakfast (by far the best meal of the day) was full English, cereal, fruit, breads etc.
Snacks (ok, edible) are prepared near the pool area and consist of the usual burgers, hot dogs, pizzas, chips etc.
Lunch (not too bad!) buffet style near the pool – soup, salads, fish/meat, rice/pasta etc.
Evening meal – a bit too like a canteen for my liking, dining room was hot, noisy and a bit cramped at times, definitely not a relaxing experience! Food was edible, but a bit repetitive, some good nights, some not so good.
We ended up eating out a couple of times and we did also eat in the hotels own Italian restaurant (you are allowed one visit per week as part of All-Inclusive package) which was quite nice but the menu is limited to one starter and just a few types of pasta or pizza, and 3 desserts. We didn’t get to try the hotels carvery restaurant.
Drinks at the bars are limited to 2 per person per visit to the bar, this keeps the queues down so don’t complain! On our first day, for some reason they were serving more than 2 and the queues were horrendous.

Not quite sure why the Irish Pub is meant to be Irish when there are London signs dotted around the walls!

The paper-based wristbands that they give you to wear (all-inclusive package) are a bit annoying. They are meant to be water-proof but I had to get mine replaced 5 or 6 times.

The staff – if you are courteous and polite (remember they are only doing their job) then the gesture will be returned. But if you are rude and ignorant as I witnessed a few times during our stay, then expect (quite rightly) to be treated the same way. Treat others as you expect to be treated, a please, a thank you and a smile go a long way!!

I have tried to give an honest account of the complex, at the end of the day a holiday is what you make it. If you spend all your time complaining you are going to have a rotten time. You are always taking a chance when booking a holiday and unless you can afford the best of the best, then you are often going to find that some elements of your holiday fail to meet your expectations. My advice is get on with it and make the best of a bad job!"

this was our second year at the ocean palace and what a holiday it was again. We arrived on the tuesday night at about 8 o,clock we freshened up then went downstairs to the main bar we were recognized by the bar staff straight away.We also saw some people we met last year so a good time we were going to have again.Yes next day outside by the pool it was slippy again but when you know this you take care to avoid any accidents happening. Our kids loved to go to the kids club which gave us time on our own to enjoy the sun.The food was just the same(brill) thanks to conchita and claire we could not ask for any better. Now on to a different note the entertainment. We did not have the pleasure of meeting roy last year as he did,nt work there then.We did read a lot of reviews from other holiday makers who said he was arrogant, ignorant basically not avery nice bloke. How wrong they could be he was totally opposite he was funny a true professional at his job a great all round entertainer who could hold a audience with no nastinest involved at all.In the end he became a very good friend to myself, linda and our 2 children he is a credit to ocean palace and it would be a shame if he ever left he would be hard to replace.People don,t seem to understand how much work he puts in to his job which is no mean feat to keep everyone entertained both during the day and night and to say he hates kids "RUBBISH"keep your chin up mate you were brill!.Also another person who deserves a lot of credit is Becky a lovely girl who not only helped roy day and night but what a singer! I could go on all day you are all a credit to ocean palace and you all know who you are. As the saying goes "We will be back" Thank you all once again!"

Very bad service

Reviewed Thu 7th of April 2016

"Sadly this is a terrible hotel. For ten days the shower leaked and flooded the room, after asking 7 times we were given a mop and bucket to clean the floor ourselves. The Hotel manager just wasn't interested, the reception staff just shouted at us when we asked for a taxi, and were most unhelpful. The rooms were not very clean, the fridge was broken, cigarette buts on the balcony and we don't smoke, toilet broken and wouldn't stop flushing, mold on the cheese, two different beds, one higher than the other with the legs removed and just sitting on the screws. The drinks are watered down, and often the bars were not open or not staffed.

The most serious problem is the showers, when on cold just suddenly provide scolding hot water. This is a worry with young children.

When issues were raised with the Manager, he just said what do you expect we are about to refurbish.

They claim this is a four star hotel - it certainly isn't and for the cost it really isn't worth the money.
