Couples will find the one bedroom rooms have everything they need for their stay, while small families should opt for a two-bedroom apartment to keep the whole gang together. Whichever you choose, you’ll have the same great facilities.
Every accommodation comes with a separate lounge area, which has seating and a flat screen TV. There’s also a well-stocked kitchen, which features a ring burner, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, and utensils; in short, everything you’ll need to cook your own great meal. Facilities, Entertainment, Activities
Portonovo Apartments offers the quintessential holiday. The large pool will ensure you always have space to cool down when the weather gets too hot, while the sunbeds on the solarium will mean you can work on your tan all day long. Alternatively, you can make the short 100 metre walk to the beach to sunbathe in natural surroundings.
The pool area is ideal for having fun with friends, especially at the poolside bar. But don’t worry if you need to break away from the fun to take care of business or check in with friends and family back home — there’s free Wi-Fi throughout the resort. Away from the hotel, guests can try their hand at waters ports such as jet-skiing and pedaloes, while those looking to add some thrills to their holiday can try parasailing.

As Portonovo Apartments is located in a traditional Gran Canaria resort area, you’ll have plenty of options to wine and dine just a short walk from your room. Whether it’s something lively, a chilled drink by the beach, or international or local cuisine, you’ll find it all just moments from the hotel.
However, you don’t have to leave the complex at all to have some delicious food and drink. There is an on-site restaurant offering full meals, as well as a snack bar and poolside bar offering snacks throughout the day. Additionally, you can even prepare your own special meal in your kitchen and enjoy it on your balcony with friends and family — simple stop by the hotel’s supermarket to pick up some nice food and a couple of bottles of wine. When you’re dining with loved ones as the sun sets, you won’t regret it.

Such a shame
"Such a shame!
Portonovo apartments are in a great location with good general facilities on site, staff are very friendly & helpful, there is a problem though early mornings, as the apartment service area was located directly under the bedroom window from 5-30am the noise was unbearable & echoes right up! rooms & towels cleaned every other day but they are dated, it's the luck of the draw what room you end up in as some are better than others! We traveled as a package with Thomson/Skytours and our room was not as good as our friends who had booked directly through Booking.com, they paid less but their room was a better standard in a more peaceful part, Lesson learned there!
We had room 209 which would have access from rooms down below for anyone wanting to gain entry & there were signs of damage on the outside of the patio door of someone trying to get in (see picture) so a higher floor would be better, you do need to try keep doors open to let air through as we had no ceiling fan, but our friends did in the rooms on higher floors. Unfortunately, the
Bedding was ripped & stained pillows, bed was also ready to collapse, sofa bed turned into bed mode when trying to just sit on it, the shower hose was split & no floor towel provided to prevent slipping after shower. Simple things let these apartments down!
Would not stay here again but would look at staying at Marina suites after recommendation. "

Portonovo Apartments , Puerta del Carmen , Lanzarote
"In reply to halting review from July 2013, I stay at Portonovo several times every year , The couple who run the pool bar ,Mags and John , are a very nice couple , they have been there now for about two years.
They will do anything to please , John is always willing to sort out any problems that may arise .
As for the bar prices , they are probably the cheapest around , much much cheaper the any of the bars on the strip or in the harbor.
Theme nights was BBQ quiz etc are always a great success and a good laugh . spent many a good time there till the early hours.
They did employ another couple for the first few months of the year , but these were completely unacceptable , rough , he looked like he never shaved for a week , both scruffy , I was glad to retuning in April to find out they had gone , after a lot of complaints that everywhere looked dirty , tables not cleaned , always standing round smoking !!couldn't be bothered attitude,
I AM REALLY GLAD MAGS AND JOHN HAVE RETURNED AND RUNNING THE BAR ,
As for them having time off , yes they do , but there is always a sign by the bar informing people , nobody should work seven days a week ,
Welcome back Mags and John"

Portonovo Apartments Puerto Del Carmen Lanzarote
"Staying on Portonovo in July this year, lovely apartments all privately owned. Facilities in apartment very good. Pool very nice no fighting for sunbeds although no Parasols so very little shaded areas. Location ideal for Old Town and Harbor area.
Pool Bar - IS DEFINITELY NOT the friendliest place. Very rude and arrogant people running bar not like the people who were there earlier in 2013 who could not do enough to be of service and help to everyone. Always opening late and closing early and having time off so no guarantee that you will be able to use the facilities of the pool bar if you wanted to. AVOID the bar prices change by the minute usually being charged extortionately compared to most places in the resort.. BBQ Night very poor and overpriced which is a shame as this lets the complex down. It really has put us off staying on the complex and feel sorry for the owners of the apartments as guests staying there would enjoy their stay more if you had better people in charge of the pool bar. Lovely Apartment, Great View
"I stayed in the Portonovo Complex twice now, in 2010 and 2009. We stayed in Apartment 111. The complex was, from my understanding, owned by a travel group before all the apartments were sold to individual private owners. So some of them have been renovated, including this apartment.
Apartment 111 was owned by an Irish couple who have made the apartment a real 'home from home'. We found it very well decorated and very comfortable. Really homely, comfortable and warm. It has its own private balcony which overlooked the sea, and was in a quiet part of Puerto Del Carmen (the old town) so it wasn't very hectic.
It had anything you could ever need for a self catering holiday - a fully setup kitchen with all mod-cons so it was perfect for cooking in. It had one bedroom, one bathroom, and a pullout bed in the sitting area. The apartment has a number of books, DVDs & Magazines available for renters, which came in useful. For those sitting in relaxing, the apartment also offered us satellite TV with lots of channels (mostly in English). It had its own private balcony which overlooked the private pool and the bay.
The complex itself is mostly privately owned and many of the owners live there, so its nice and quiet. A nice big pool, a private bar (closes early in the evening), and lots of sun loungers. Its within walking distance from pubs, restaurants, and the harbour.
All in all, a lovely apartment and a great area. Would highly recommend it to couples of all ages. We thought it catered for everyone anyway. "

Lovely quiet complex, in great location
"Just back from a stay at Apt 111, Portonovo Apartments, and we were very pleased with it. The apartment was very well presented, and had all of the equipment you would need for a self catering holiday. We didn't cook at all, there being loads of restaurants within walking distance. The setting of the complex is fabulous, being on a hill you get a great view over the harbour and of the sea, very relaxing. It does mean it's a climb back up, though, but PDC generally can be quite hilly, so no problem. Steve and Jac in the pool bar are very friendly, and Moragh the cleaning lady was very helpful and approachable. The apartment was very clean and tidy when we arrived, and Moragh was on hand to settle us in.
It was very quiet when we were there, and some of the residents are permanent homeowners there, not holiday makers, so I can't imagine it gets particularly raucous even at the height of the season.
The pool is lovely, but it is quite deep all over, so not particularly great for small children, my one criticism of the complex is that the sun loungers could have been nicer and some sun shades would have been nice, but there is some shade there, and there were plenty of sunbeds!
All in all, I would recommend these apartments and we will definitely be going back before too long!"

Good for family
"We have just returned from a week at Portonova Apartments.
Granny, mother and children of 5 and 8. It was ideal.
Pleasant apartment, lovely warm pool (but it is deep so children must be able to swim - no children's paddling area. Restaurant on site was unfortunately Indian food so we did not use it but plenty of places in walking distance. Well stocked Supermarket a few paces from apartment - very handy. Nice sandy beach very close.
All ideal for us.
