"We have being going to Lanzarote for years.About 6 years ago we stayed in the eldorado and have gone there twice a year. My husband had walking difficulties and we found the staff at the eldorado most accommadating. The apartments are spotless, the staff very helpfull and the gardens are wonderful. We attended a wedding in Lanzarote and a group of us stayed in the Eldorado. What a great week. The Staff supplied us with ironing boards and everyting we requested. Will be bacl again soon."

"We have just got back from our honeymoon and had a fantastic time at EDSS. We had sarah from www.worldwidesizzlers.co.uk book the honeymoon on her recommendation. My god she was right. The rooms were fantastic with there own private jacuzzi bath, the rooms were made up with different towel designs and champagne daily. 24 hour room service was exceptional, all the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I would certainly recommend this hotel and www.worldwidesizzlers.co.uk, giving us a hassle free honeymoon"

"Stayed in the Eldorado last year for the first time. This was of 14th visit to Lanzarote and always stayed in the Fariones Playa but liked the look of these apartments when passing each night to go to the old town for dinner. We were not disappointed. Had a 1 bed apartment with 2 large balconies - 1 from sitting room and 1 from bedroom and a partial sea view. Apartment was spotless and the staff were very pleasant. Excellent location. Look forward to visiting again. Just wish they had satellite TV for those nights when you are too tired to go out! "

"Went to the Eldorado in March 07 and also in November 07, have stayed in the one bedroom apt with private garden and also the 2 bedroom apt in November 07 when I had my three kids with me. Have to say the accommodation is fantastic couldn't ask for any thing better, very clean, pool is lovely and there is a great snack bar on the grounds. I have been to Lanzarote and have stayed in the Fariones many times, but I would highly recommend the Eldorado. It is located in between the new town and the old town so you are near to everything. Has two nice pool and you are also only about ten min walk from the beach. If you want a holiday with no stress try out the Eldorado in Lanzarote."

Almost 5 Stars.....
"Just back from a weeks stay at the Eldorado with my fiance. I had high expectations after reading reviews of the hotel and by and large, I was not disappointed. The hotel has many good points going for it.....value for money..... location.... security.....clean,comfortable, modern, spacious rooms......nice restaurant and pool snack bar.....plenty of sun loungers by the pool....I could go on but suffice to say for a couple looking for a quiet relaxing week away but also interested in being within walking distance of entertainment, restaurants and late bars, then the Eldorado is the place for you. There's even a vending machine at reception that sells all types of coffees, cappuchinos, lattes etc for only 50cent. The only slight negative is you only get 1 key for the apartment which can be a little inconveniencing, as the key is needed to provide electricity and air conditioning to the apartment and also needed to gain entry to the complex. All in all though, the quality of service at the Eldorado is of very high standard ( you are even asked to select what type of pillow you would like to sleep on!!) and the staff are friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back."

"Just wanted to say that I stayed in El Dorado last May 2006, tried to book it again for Sept 2007 but it was booked out. A few people posted that they only got one key, we were there for 2 weeks and we asked for a second key and they didnt seem to mind and we got a second one. So for others going maybe if you ask for a second key they will give it to you. I wish I was staying here again in September, as I think the location is great."

"I booked the El Dorado apartments for 2 weeks in August based on the reviews I read on this site. I was not disappointed. Every previous reviewer is spot on. These are excellent apartments. On arrival the taxi dropped us right at the door, check in was painless and within ten minutes my girlfriend an I were sitting on the comfortable sofa in our second floor apartment with a great view of the pool and the sea. The complimentary bottle of wine is a nice touch. The apartments are of a very high quality. Nice decor with black and white tiled floors and paintings hanging on the walls. The beds were comfortable, there is also a double wardrobe in the bedroom. We also had a wooden slide door outside the window which sort of resembles a wodden fence. This is lockable from the inside and is very handy as it allows you to leave the window open in the apartment and nobody can get in. The bathroom was quite large with two sinks and a shower/bath. There was plenty of hot water and the towels could be changed every time the maid was in. The apartment was cleaned 6 days a weeks with Sunday being the day off. Bed sheets were also changed 3 times a week and the maids did an excellent job. The kitchen/living area was also quite spacious with a proper oven and hob and all manner of cooking ware and utensils. The sofa and armchair were very comfortable. The TV had 5 English speaking channels, Eurosport, CNN, a movie chanel, and two Dubai channels. This came in handy on the hot days when all you wanted was to relax in the apartment. Air conditioning can be used payable at 5 euro per day. To be honest the apartment was always cool and there was no need for it. There is also a large balcony which we put to good use for having some home cooked meals outside at sunset. Our view was superb and it was so nice to wake up every morning to look out upon the pool and the sea. The complex has two pools, one of which has a pool bar. We stayed right next to the latter so that was the one we used. Both pools are big and suitable for a bit of proper swimming if you wish to do a few lengths in the morning. The pool bar serves all manner of drinks and cocktails as well as toasted sandwiches, baguettes and burgers. The food is quite tasty and cheap. The best thing about the pools is that they are never crowded. There was always plenty of sunbeds available. The complex itself is very laid back. There is no kids club or anything like it. There are also no entertainment reps so you don't have the usual games of water polo or the like that you might have in other apartments. There is also no entertainment in the apartments at night as there is no place such as an indoor bar or stage to have it. This is not missed however as there is plenty to do and see in Puerto Del Carmen. Security is very good in the apartments. Access to the doors in reception and to the apartments is through the use of key cards. The only downside is you only get one card. It was not a problem for me as there were only two of us. This may be a problem for larger groups. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. There is internet access in reception that costs 10 cent p/min. Lastly the apartments are perfectly located between the new and old towns and right next to the biosphere shopping centre. Everything was within walking distance. There is also a Pizzeria restaurant as part of the complex. This is an excellent place to eat and very very cheap. The menu is quite varied with pasta, pizza and other favourites such as steak and other meat and fish dishes. They also do take away pizzas. I'd highly recommend the El Dorado to anyone looking for quality accomodation with a relaxed atmosphere."

Fantastic place to stay!
"We stayed at El Dorado at the end of September- October 2006 for 1 week and we were so thrilled that we booked it! Location wise, El Dorado is between the main strip and the old town, where the port is, so you pretty much have best of both worlds. We found it much easier to rent a car and drive around, because the hotel is on a bit of a hill and walking to restaurants is not ideal for someone like my mum who has a bad hip! When we arrived, there was no problem, our room was booked and the reception staff were really polite and helpful. Reception has a nice seating area, phones, books on the area and internet connection which i think was 1 euro for half an hour. We had a suite which had 2 rooms and two bathrooms including an en suite, which was absolutely fantastic. The kitchen had everything we needed- cooker, hob, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster. There was a dining table, two sofas, tv, phone and desk and chairs. The rooms also had air con which is great in such hot weather! We were very lucky as we had an ocean view room, so breakfast on the balcony was beautiful. I would recommend booking an ocean view room, really! The complex has 2 pools, each with sunloungers, tables and umbellas around. We had no problem getting a sunlounger as we went in October, so im not sure how it would be in peak season. One of the pools at the far end of the complex had a pool bar, where u could get food, snacks, ice-cream and drinks (including alcoholic- yum). The only downside sitting at that pool was a childs ride, where the kid sits in the car- well it was switched on and constantly belted out the tune of 'jingle bells' which is annoying at xmas, let alone in october! The only downside i can think of the complex is the fact you only got one room key- which is really unsuitable with 3 people- where 1 person wanted to go off on walks, taking the only key with him! What's annoying is the complex is pretty security tight, with doors connecting between different sections and the only way through is with your room key/card. So its annoying if you want to go to reception but someone else has the key! El Dorado was a fantastic place to stay. Its not far from the old town which have some brilliant restaurants and a great ambience/atmosphere and also not too far away from the main strip, or the beach. There are a few shops dotted around, and a mall across the road (only higher up on the hill) so getting anything you want or need is no problem. We would definitely stay at El Dorado again- great service, great view and great apartments. What more could you ask for?!!"

Would definitely recommend
"Decided to stay here following the reviews on this website, which all proved accurate and very helpful. The accommodation is in a great location between old town and new town and was lovely and peaceful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The apartments are big, more than enough room for the 2 of us and we had 2 balconies (although weather turned out terrible so they got little use!). I really don't have much criticism for the place but would say that they could do with investing in some new towels, they're a little small and a funny brownish / terracotta colour. The shower wasn't the best and ran out of hot water quickly which probably isn't a problem for most of the year but it was pretty cold when we stayed there. We also felt the pool bar a bit too expensive for their drinks particularly and they'd have more people using their services if their prices were a little more realistic(??). Also if you book independently they didn't tell us that the air con / heating was free as was an extra room key. We eventually asked at reception and all free with a refundable deposit - maybe our own stupidity for not enquiring sooner! We didn't get round to eating at the restaurant but it always seemed busy and food looked nice - maybe next time. Sounds like we had a lot of complaints but they are all really minor things and I would certainly stay here again. We much preferred the old town and would recommend the Bodega which has an adjoining grill. Food was fantastic from either side of the restaurant. It's beautiful inside with immaculate toilets, very reasonably priced and popular with locals too. We also loved the tapas bar on the harbour - again great value and food. We'd recommend a day out for lunch to Arrieta, a much more natural and pretty looking town compared to Puerto Calero which we found overpriced and fake. We'll be back!"

"just back from lanzer stayed in the Eldorado apt 113 the apt was spotless very spacious the complimentary bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch and set the tone for our visit We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on same as we have our own favourates from a previous visits.Cannot say enough good things about this complex fab location yet quiet enough to ensure a good nights sleep, occasional traffic noise but not a problem We intend staying here again in october when we return to lanzer. All the public areas were spotlessy clean the whole place had a good fell about it.The reception staff were always helpful and friendly On a scale of 1 to 10 for selfcatering apts I would give it a 10 plus.....Lawlor family Wexford"

"just back from a week in lanzarote, stayed in el dorado.on arrival, there was a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us in our apartment.apartment was spotless with plenty of space and very clean bathroom and adequate shower.the property was very well kept and we had our room freshened every day.pool area was satisfactory also..there are 2 pools but we only used the pool with the snack bar.the snack bar had a nice menu for during the day with friendly staff. overall it was a welcoming and clean property both inside and out.also it is situated in a great location between the old and new town with a two minute walk to each...planning a return visit in march to stay in the el dorado again..definitely recommended!!"
