About Acuario Sol

The Acuario Sol resort offers its guests a memorable stay in Lanzarote’s most popular resort area, Puerto del Carmen. The hotel comes with bags of facilities and prioritises cleanliness, so you can expect your apartment to be just what you’re seeking for a memorable family holiday to the island.
Just a short walk from the lively Puerto del Carmen centre and some of Lanzarote’s best beaches, you’ll have a great time whether you choose to spend your days next to the well-sized swimming pool or out exploring the surrounding areas. Just 200 metres from the hotel is Playa Blanca, a quiet and pleasant beach, or just a short walk further down the coast you’ll also find Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada, where you can engage in some thrilling water sports, including banana boat and parascending.
Not that you’ll need to head to the beach to have a good time. The Acuario Sol receives plenty of sunshine, so you can happily spend your days lounging on the large pool terrace, or at the on-site solarium.
Whatever you decide to do, you’ll have a fantastic time at this hotel, which knows how to make sure its guests are happy.

Room Information and Room Facilities

There are three room types available at the Acuario Sol: one bedroom apartment with garden view, one bedroom apartment with pool view, and a two bedroom apartment with pool view.
Which accommodation type you choose will depend on your own needs; families may prefer the two bedroom apartment to keep everybody together, while those who want to always be a part of the action should opt for a room with a pool view. The bedrooms have a twin bed, while the lounge area has a pull-out sofa bed.
Wherever you stay, you’ll have plenty of features. Facilities include satellite TV, balcony or terrace, and kitchenette, which come with a hob burner, fridge, kettle, utensils, and toaster.

Facilities, Entertainment, Activities

The Acuario Sol resort takes care of all of its guest’s needs and more. Core essentials provided by the hotel include luggage storage, free parking, currency exchange, and tour desk, from which you can book tickets to explore the island. You can also hire a car here, or rent a bicycle.
When you feel you need a little pampering, you can book yourself in for a massage, or stop by the barber/beauty shop to doll yourself up for a night on the town. Wi-Fi internet access is available for a charge.
In terms of fun, you and your family can make the most of the large outdoor swimming pool, or challenge your friends and family to a competitive pool tournament on the on-site table. There is also some entertainment provided on occasions by the hotel, including quiz nights and BBQs.

Food and Drink Options

As Acuario Sol is so close to many restaurants and bars, you’ll have no trouble finding a delicious and affordable meal during your stay. The hotel offers a chargeable continental breakfast to its guests, while the pool snack bar has plenty of light meals — such as sausage and mash, and pies —, ice-creams, and drinks to keep you going through the day. The snack bar also occasionally offers themed food nights, such as curry night or a Sunday roast. You’ll also have the option of cooking your own meal at your own, well-equipped kitchenette and eating the meal on your private balcony or terrace.
There are supermarkets located nearby where you can pick up fresh food and beverages – perfect for having a memorable meal on a warm evening with family and friends.

Love the place

"We have stayed here twice now and think it is excellent.
The rooms are clean and ok sized the balconey is fairly large and faces the sea,so if your up for it you can have breakfast in the sun at 7am and watch the sun go down with a drink around 9pm.

The barstaff make a real effort to make you feel welcome and the bar manageress has been there years and years and usually remembers your face when you go back she
is lovely. The pools are nice and clean and there are plenty of sun loungers about in the well set out bathing area.

Finally its only a 7 min walk to the front (14 mins if you have lil legs)
going back again asap because we love the place, the people, the weather and Lanz."

Nice place to chill

"Had a nice fortnight in the sun at the Acuario Sol. Recommend you give it a try. One place to avoid is a restuarant called Restaurante Welcome at north end of the strip, food terrible and prices a rip off."

Rip off

"The location of the apartments are good as they are only a five minute walk from the main strip. They are clean and well maintained and the level of comfort is sufficient for a holiday of one or two weeks. Sadly, there is one fault with this otherwise acceptable accomadation. It is classified as self catering but that doesn't included a kettle nor a toaster. If you think that a cup of tea and a slice of toast is a reasonable way to start your day, it will cost you extra, a big extra."

very nice clean and peacefull

"we have just come home and sad to be home the appartments are very clean spacious and cleaning service was in our experience first class very polite and kind people..... i have never been there befor but can say id stay again....
the euro is no difrent at tne min to the gbp so we found it no difrent price wise than here.. the down side was that the strip which is just a 10 min walk away was all dug up and quite an eye sore but will look very nice wen finished i didnt like the restrants and bars constantly touting for our buisness its ok at first as its quite amuzing but after a while gets very anoying...
we spent 15nights at the resort and overall loved it the weather was amazingly hot not the first week though it rained but that didnt spoil our hols the best restrant we found was just a little walk down the strip passed the tropical and routa 66 bar theres a little place just 5mins from there heading towards the old town called the maritoni wow there superb people with well portioned meals and to top it all at very reasonable prices u will see for yourself as u pass there its the buisyest restrant along the strip that to me speaks volumes the beach is very clean and the sites are very tranquil all in all id say a good place if you go enjoy xxxxx"

Really Excellent Holiday

"Just arrived back from this hotel and had an amazing time. After living in Puerto Del Carman for 18 months previously, I had heard of the reputation of the hotel and break ins especially, but it was a bargain and was plesantly suprised!

The apartments were spacious, clean, on the basic side but we didnt mind that. The maid came every day to clean. I was with another friend and there was a mix of couples, familys and young people on the complex but it was peaceful and a real holiday atmosphere. No break ins or trouble of ANY kind whilst I was there.

The pool bar was doing an excellent 'half board' option and we took advantage of this, which included all their evening events BBQ, Curry night etc, the staff worked really hard to make sure we had a good time and the food option and service was excellent and very tasty!!! The cat issue was apparent, but so was the fact people were ignoring the 'do not feed the cats' sign as they left cat food out for them attracting ants as well as cats!!!!

The main strip is close by and pleased to say taxis are still cheap if your feeling lazy (or just in heels like I was!!!) Drinks and food still reasonable in Lanz, was really worried what with all thats going on but actually came home with change! I really reccomend this hotel for people who like basic, self catering clean accom to chill out in and your not planning to cook much.!!"

Some really good points!

"Me and my partner (20 and 21) just came home from a week staying in these appartments. We both lead very busy lives at home and love to chill out for a week.

The appartments were clean and tidy, thought you have to hire a kettle and toaster and a tv remote, they take the buttons out so you cant use the tele without one. We didnt bother to hire one, thought we met a couple that had and they informed us that therw were only two english speaking chanels available so i wouldnt waste your money on getting one. There was a maid service every day, which being honest you really needed, most mornings we woke up with sand on out balcony because of the breeze.

We managed to lock outselves out our appartment one night, it was not to late only about 10pm so we had to get the manager or whoever he was to open the door. He was very rude and did not say a word to us despite us both apologising!

Be awear of the cats, i think that they dont mind them being there so much because they keep the bugs etc away from the apartments but we did wake up one morning to find 3 of them asleep on ourbalcony furnature on my pool towel!

The reception does not open till 8.00am so if you are leaving before then to come home then make sure that you get your deposit for the safety deposit box back the day before because alot of people didnt get it back.

As for food, the pool bar up at the bigger pool is good, the food is probably the best on the island, thought you do pay a wee bit more, its worth it. The shop across the street is expensive but the spar is not to bad. Stay away from all the lani's restaurants, there are loads off them. The food is crap and expensive. There are loads of buffet chinese places which are very good."

quiet & clean

"we (young couple, late 20's) have just returned from a week at the acuario sol 1apartments & would happily return.
the apartments are located about 5 mins walk from the main strip, but are still quiet at night. the pool area at these apartments is quite small, but you have full use of the larger pool at acuario sol 2 apartments which are 100 yards up the road. the larger pool has a snack bar serving all the usual goodies.
the rooms themselves were clean and fairly spacious. maid service was every other day and towels were changed half weekly.
there is a supermarket directly across the road which has a good range of day to day items.
the resort of puerto del carmen was great, with a good range of pubs, clubs and restaurants and you could have as quiet or as lively a night as you chose to. all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time in lanzarote & would definitely return."

Excellent value for money

"Normally I can stretch to one holiday per year but in early 2007 my girlfriend and I booked two holidays at once.
Gran Canaria was first choice for my routine two week holiday in late August when it is cheaper with less children.
Lanzarote was second preference for a one week holiday in mid -December to escape my disliking of the pre Christmas hype.
I am reluctant about one week holidays as I think they are too short. 7 nights beginning on 16 / 12 / 2007 was a realistic length and date because any longer and the actual Christmas week itself would be twice as expensive.

( LANZAROTE ) - This was my third visit to a Canary Island having been once each to Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

(PUERTO DEL CARMEN ) - Puerto Del Carmen give me the impression of Lanzarote being alot smaller than Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The resort is of a lower scaled size than Playa De Las Americas or Playa Del Ingles and apart from a few hotels most buildings were only 2 - 3 storeys high.

I noticed there are many Chinese people here who either own or are employed in the local businesses. In consideration to the time of year there were more elderly than young holiday makers. Along the main road of Puerto Del Carmen are there were plenty of holiday orientated shops, bars, and restaurants but only half of them were open. Prices are reasonable and similar to the other Canary Islands. I did not see any designer clothes shops, however from the internet I previously read of a shopping centre in Costa Teguise that I did not get around to visiting. The SPAR Supermarket was best for everyday necessities. Restaurants were fine. We found enough to do during the day however nite -life entertainment was scarcely disappointing. I was not prepared to walk for miles and the only decent bar I could find was called ' The Dubliner '. Unfortunately in coming here so often proved a wasteful aspect of my holiday. Although I understood the crowds were poor it only grew boring when I discovered there was the same two man band who played the same traditional Irish music, with the same jokes every night of every week.

( LOCATION ) - This was my favourite part of my holiday. Acuario Sol II is ideally located for anyone like myself who likes relaxing in a private and quiet base with a short distance from the louder attractions. It is a 5 minute stroll down a couple of side - streets to a T - junction of the main road for shops, bars and restaurants. At this junction, turn left and a further 5 minute walk down the main road takes you to the beautiful long sandy beach.

( ACCOMMODATION ) - On arrival the coach let us off at the reception in Acuario Sol 1. It was not appealing. From here we had to collect our keys and make our own way uphill to Acuario Sol II. Thank God modern suitcases have wheels. Both properties are small and set in a peaceful area. Acuario Sol II was under occupied and this also added to a tranquil holiday I had initially hoped for. The accommodation had three levels. We were conveniently situated on the ground floor next to ' Suzies Bar' which served delicious food. Our apartment and terrace was pleasantly surprising. The rooms may be basic but cannot be faulted. They were spacious, clean, comfortable and as good as any I have previously stayed in. AlI self - catering cooking utensils were available, I just needed a bottle - opener. The accommodation is alright for sun - bathing. My only real complaint is that the two tiny pools should be made bigger. In general I feel we may have got a better deal than those in Acuario Sol 1. I would strongly recommend Acuario Sol II to anyone who is not a party animal. I thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and I am hoping to come back in the same period of 2008.

( STAFF ) - Maids were okay. They always seem to do a sufficient job with minimal effort and are never renouned for breaking a sweat. In Suzie's Bar, there were three women staff working individual shifts, one at a time. Suzie the owner was unfriendly and she was there in the mornings. Jane was unfriendly and she was there in the afternoons. Occasionally it was difficult to get Suzie or Jane to serve you because they were constantly on their mobile phones. Jane was either lazy, did not like cooking or working under pressure. There were never enough customers to rush her off her feet but she often refused to cook and made an excuse that there was none of the food requested. Josephine was a very friendly woman from the Phillipines."

"We has stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago and were so impressed decided to book again. The Apartments are exceptionally clean and comfortable with everything you require for a self catering stay. It is less then 5 minutes walk from the main shops and restaurants, so close enough to get to everyting but far enough away to not get any noise. There is a gate into the complex that is locked every night and only people staying there have a key, so it is very secure.

The 'bar' within the complex is very basic and although they serve and excellant cooked breakfast the entertainment leaves a lot to be desired. They tell you to watch the boards to see what entertainment is going to be one but we went to see one show and it was not on.

There is plenty to do in Puerto Del Carmen to keep you occupied and the choice and quality of food will satify everyone; everthing from mexican, fresh fish,, curry, chinese and english. A decent meal can cost as little as 6 euros.

There is an ice cream shop at the bottom of the road from where the hotel is sutuated that sells the most devine ice creams. The hardest part of the holiday was deciding which flavour to have.

I was suprised how warm the weather was, although a cardigan or light jacket was required for evening."

"I spent 2 weeks here and I can only sey it was excellent. The staff whom I met could not have been nicer, and on getting to know them more are lovely human beings. I would recommend the food and the ambience when I was there it was chilled and relaxed. Thanks to Rachal, Tina. Josephine and Lee. BTW Rachal, dont look so surprised when we win the quiz. This complex is a little gem."
