4 day heat wave
"Long weekend 24th April to 28th April. Apartments ok, but take some mosquito killer. We stayed on a first floor block, great views, but can be windy at night and the door rattled. We've been going to Lanzarote for years and never experienced heat like this, thank god for airconditioning."

We have just returned from a week's stay...
"We have just returned from a week's stay at the Natura Garden Apartments, which we booked through Teletext.com and Globe Travel, and would strongly advise anyone against booking to stay there.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning after a delayed flight, and were greeted by a beautiful hotel, the Hotel Natura Palace, which is where the reception is for the apartments as they own them. All seemed great until we ventured across the road to our apartment and realised there was no lighting whatsoever! we eventually found our apartment but once inside, the door would not lock. When we rang reception, the lady said it would be fine if we just closed the door too for the night! obviously we asked for another apartment. We viewed three others.......one smelt revolting, another we couldnt find, and the third had ants! we made do with the third for the night after a long argument with the hotel staff, and i must add at one point i even offered my visa to pay full price for a room in the hotel as we were so tired and angry, and they refused!
Next morning things looked brighter and we thought maybe it would be ok. But throughout the holiday there was problem after problem.......the maid left the front door open twice for the whole day on each occasion (great security levels!!), constantly ants and cockroaches in the kitchen area and once even ants in the bed!, strong vile drain smells, no kettle/toaster/microwave provided (all these had to be rented from the hotel at a ridiculous price) and the toilet seat broke off a day into the holiday and was never mended. Also one night there was a powercut at 11pm, and there was no generator for the apartments, so we had no lighting/air conditioning for the night, which the hotel staff didnt seem to really care about.
The only good point to the holiday, and the reason we didnt end up getting an early flight home asap, was that you get to use the facilities in the Hotel, which is a Thomson Platinum 5 star hotel. The pool area was fantastic, kids club seemed great, you could buy your evening meal there for 22 euros each, which seems expensive but was lovely and well worth the money, the daytime bar staff treat you nice, and we made some great friends. But again the main reception staff let it down by talking to you in an unkind, unhelpful nature purely because you were staying at the apartments. You could complain to them until you were blue in the face and get no where! I would like to comment that the two Thomson reps on site were very helpful in giving us advice even though we had not booked through them.
We would definitely recommend staying at the hotel, but we wouldn't stay at the apartments again if it only cost £20 for the week! We would rather pay the expensive price to stay in the hotel and feel safe throughout the holiday, instead of being on edge all night, every night because of the rubbish security levels.
We would also like to recommend the transfers we booked seperately from the holiday, which were with Last Minute Travel. They were very friendly and on time. You can find them and book on lanzarote.com.

Just returned from two weeks half board...
"Just returned from two weeks half board stay at the Natura Garden Apartments in Playa Blanca. We booked our holiday independently which I would recommend to any holiday maker. Although staying in the Natura Garden Apartments we where able to use all the facilities of the Thompson Platinum Natura Place Hotel. This included all our meals, swimming pool, pool towels, entertainment, reception services etc.
The apartments are comfortable, clean but basic. However, having said that the air conditioning units in them were fantastic. As with most 4 star hotels the food was very good, and the animation team did a really good job at occupying our 14 year old.
One negative is that the bar service in the hotel was very slow, we never got to order more than 2 drinks in an evening. The other disadvantage is that the hotel did not want to accept cash for drinks, they preferred you to give your room number and sign on tab, settling up at the end of the week. We were wary of this and were very careful about what we ordered. Our bill at the end of 2 weeks was 110 euros for 4 people, which was okay, but it could have been extravagant if we had not been careful.
You definitely need a car as it is a good 30 min walk into town. We hired a car through autoreisen and I would strongly recommend them. A nice place to visit is Teguise the old capital (but not on market day). Another nice place to visit is Puerto Calero, you can have a really nice day out there.
