we have just got back from the iberostar...
"we have just got back from the iberostar la bocayna in playa blanca lanzarote, we first got there went in to the reception and first thing they said is they want a credit card no explanation why or what for, went down to our room yea it was clean but thats all i can really say about it there wasnt much to it. we looked in to it before we went in the Iberostar website it had lots of pictures of this place but some of whitch doesnt exist on the site, it shows a gym that wasnt there , a tennis court that of what i could see was another hotels down the road, There is a big waterfeature type thing there that was there but didny work and was empty. there was builders there working i wasnt keen on that.
The food i cant really fault i was good catered for all, although it was a little bit repetative. you could get snacks from the pool bar but that was only open from 9 in the morning till 6 at nite.
In the holiday information it says it is suitable for coules and familys, couples maybe familys NO!! your children would be board out of there minds they could play together but that is it, there is no poolside entertainment apart from a small playground. it is a very very quiet resort each day we were sat round the pool and there would be no more than 15 people there. no1 would be in the pool really. there is no evening entertainment you have your food at night between 6 and 9-30 then thats it you gota go in to town every night or walk round the resort if you do that it would take you 2 hours max to walk the surrounding area. the bar shuts at 6 when the food is served then it doesnt open till the following morning. the taxi service is good you go to the reception they call you one and it is there within 2-3 mins.
The local town is nice you have to get a taxi there tho it is to far to walk,. it will cost you between 3-5 euros. but if you go anyfurther than the local town then the fair seems to go up alot more. were we styed it states that the beach is 300m away it is a bit further but isnt very big and is rocky. But if you follow the signs to the papagayo arena then from there follow the walking trails within 15mins you walk to the nicest beach i have ever seen and it isnt very busy. but you do have to walk down steep gravel slopes so keep hold of the children. but it is really worth a look atleast.
i would like to go back to this area because it is so nice but would just stay in a differant hotel one with better entertainment and things to do. I must say that you should research it alot before going because the description of the hotel is very deciving it says theres thing there isnt, the day we left we were sat in reception and new people arrived ,they had there chat from reception about rooms and keys and stuff and even that early they wanted to be moved to another hotel because it wasnt what it was stated by the tour operators, they didnt even step foot out the reception then aswell.
my holiday outside the hotel was very good ,excursions were good (Submarine Safari, trip to fueturventura on the glass bottom boat, lanzarote island tour) like i said i would just coose a differant hotel."

"The La Bocayna bungalows provided excellent accommodation in a quiet area (Los Colorados Bay) outside of Playa Blanca.
The 2 bed bungalow we stayed in was well equipped and clean with the maids coming every day, had spacious living accommodation and a fully fitted kitchen, in addition a small gated front yard, and massive private terrace at the back with seating and sun loungers.
The pool was lovely, cold, but refreshing after lying in the sun, and there is a small park for small kids, pool table and pool bar and restaurant. Facilities here are limited, making this more suitable for those with younger kids looking for great accommodation and a relaxing, very quiet atmosphere.
There is no supermarket onsite, we were self catering and used the Netto supermarket approx 10 mins walk away which has everything you need. To get to it walk down the hill at the entrance, turn right, then almost immediately left, keep following this road and you will see Netto on the left.
The Marina with its restaurants and Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is about a 25 walk away and is very nice.
The actual town of playa Blanca with its promenade of shops and restaurants etc is too far to walk, but only cost approx 3 Euros in the taxis which were easily accessible by asking reception to call one and there were plenty when you wanted to come back.
The Papagaya beach is approx a 30 minute walk, you have to walk round the Papagayo arena hotel over some rather hilly dirt tracks to get to it. We did it with 2 small kids and 2 pushchairs which was âinterestingâ but the views are great and once you get there it is a lovely beach.
Beware there are no sunbeds, parasols, drinks, toilets etc at these beaches so you need to go prepared if you intend to be there any length of time.
All in all we had a great relaxing holiday in great accommodation, in a lovely quiet picturesque area, but with the busier areas accessible by either walking or taxis. If you are looking to be in the heart of the action then this is not the place to be as there is little in the surrounding area.
For a quiet relaxing holiday for a young family like us though it was perfect."

"This is a very nice hotel. It is exceptionally clean with spacious twin rooms and the food is nice but did get repetitive.
This hotel is extremely safe for children and is a very quiet resort so if youâre looking to relax it is ideal, however if youâre looking for something a bit livelier then I wouldn't recommend it as you need to get taxis if you want to leave the resort as there is nothing in the vicinity."
