Bungalow 2D Casas del Sol

Reviewed Fri 9th of September 2016

"Stayed in 2D Casas del Sol in August this year. It is a beautiful well maintained and appointed property, in fact, one of the best appointed places we have ever stayed in on a self catering holiday. We booked direct with the owners on their website www.casasdelsol.com and later found out that all properties on this brilliant complex are privately owned and therefore are all of a different standard when it comes to furnishing, equipment and facilities like UK TV, WI-fi and air conditioning. Fortunately 2D had the lot plus a welcome call after arrival from the owners, to check that all was well.
The bungalow was well furnished and comfortable with a more than adequate kitchen. It sleeps 4 persons in a double and twin room, both with en-suite bathrooms.
Although we had hired a car, mainly to see a bit of the island, had we wanted to stay in Playa Blanca, a car is not needed because Casas del Sol is within easy walking distance of some great bars, restaurants and shops.
There is also a Playa Blanca bus which does a round trip of the town and there is a stop outside Casas del Sol.
The bungalow had a large patio for sunbathing, yet it had an amount of privacy and sea views. The built in Barbecue was great with a sheltered outdoor dining area. The complex had a great salt water pool which we understand is heated in the winter months plus a children's pool. Although we didn't play, we understand there are tennis courts and a boules area. Reception staff were very friendly and they have a small mini-market for essential supplies although there is a good Spar supermarket within a 5 minute walk.
There are three excellent beaches within walking distance too, our favorite was Playa Flamingo although there are no showers there unlike the town beach.
We will certainly be back!"

Inadequate Accommodation

Reviewed Tue 15th of March 2016

"We stayed here in January/February 2016 for 29 nights.
Accommodation was damp and cold, our clothing had to be hung outside as damp in the bungalow was that bad. Had to beg for a heater to help keep warm and improve conditions. Kettle was dangerous as no switch off, after complaining we were given another one. The staff were aware of the kettles and said they had previous complain, and yet still had the kettle in property for our use although faulty. Complained to staff to be moved, they were helpful but required further money for different accommodation which was of no fault of our own. Sewage outside of property was horrendous which meant constant flies and mosquitoes. Had to purchase large cans of fly killer to help the conditions. We were told there would be English TV, which there wasn't and had to go out at a cost to be entertained and keep warm. We had to scrub down the sun loungers before using as were filthy and unkempt. Window latches were broken and windows had bad condensation. Shower curtain constantly fell down. Toilet system was broken and had to wait over 12 hours for a repair man.
We are all senior citizens and on our return to the UK are all suffering from ill health due to the conditions in the property. We were placed in property which was difficult to access and are disabled.
I have never complained about a holiday in all my years of traveling and wouldn't recommend this resort. Hays Travel were unsympathetic to our needs and conditions.

Fantastic place, villa & location.

Reviewed Fri 31st of July 2009

" We booked through onlylanzarote.com after noticing the central location on last years holiday where we had to walk miles to get anywhere so i would advise anyone to bare this in mind.

Casas del Sol was very peaceful and had wonderful gardens and friendly staff. The pool is large and heated and has plenty of sunloungers. No entertainment on-site to spoil the peace though only a two minute walk takes you into the resort centre where you can find all the entertainment you need.

The villa was exactly as stated on the onlylanzarote website, high quality of comfort and equipment. It was very clean and had air conditioning which we used only a few times. We spent most of the time on the outside on the terrace which had 180 degree seaviews which you could still see whilst lying down on the sunloungers. The pool was great and never crowded.

I would reccommend this place to famillies and couples though you need to be carefull when choosing which villa to stay in as we found out that they are all privately owned and there are a few which are of a very poor standard. Our villa was 17A and our friends stayed in 26C which was also excellent."

Casas Del Sol is in the perfect location...

Reviewed Sun 31st of July 2005

"Casas Del Sol is in the perfect location, opposite the harbour and in between the two walkways that lead to the main parts of Playa Blanca, a 5 Minute walk to 2 beaches and the resort centre and a 2 minute walk to night entertainment at the Punta Limones centre, I recommend the Irish anvil bar and rooftops, steer clear of 34 limones as that place was a big dodgy.

The Villa we stayed in was very nice, set back from any noise of traffic or noisy holiday makers so we got the lie in’s we needed, the beds were a bit uncomfortable though but other then that I have no complaints about the villa or the complex, we liked the heated pool especially.

I’ve been going to Playa Blanca for 19 years, ever since I was a baby and I keep on going back, the beauty and the friendly atmosphere of the village just keeps us coming back for more, the nights aren’t as lively as they used to be but you can still have a good time out.

all in all I recommend Casas Del Sol and Playa Blanca to anyone.
