Las Gaviotas Bungalows-0verall a good experience.
"While the experience overall was very good -let me get a few of the negatives out of the way. Allocated initially to block 8 -too far from restaurant, with limited pool view/access. Booked on B&B basis - not a good choice -breakfast mediocre. Upgraded at cost to beach bungalow - some of fittings not in good condition e.g.front door and bedroom window would not close properly. The location was excellent close to beach and pool. Ambient noise from pubs across the street was present ,but the overall experience and facilities were sufficiently good to ensure that we would return.Staff were friendly and helpful, and standard of cleanliness was very good. Some small ants detected in kitchen -but did not unduly impinge on our enjoyment of the overall experience Teresa and Frank (Mature couple)"

nice superior bungalows
"we stayed here in june 2012,as a couple, and booked a superior apartment,it was in block 3,very nice bungalows,i was quite surprised.not very busy so the pool was very nice, and very different to apartments in PDC, which are much more lively!!!but we liked that for a change, my daughter lives in tias,so have been to many hotels and apartments over the years,in lanzarote (but we still like to stay in accomodation so that we can have a holiday too.)these bungalows were very good and very comfortable, had everything you could want, nice big flat screen tv for the morning news and maybe watching a film late at night. and matagorda is a nice resort.BUT if you want nightlife then this won't be for you.. your better off staying in PDC,but it is too far to walk!! we tried it once,(taxis the only way) there seems to be a lot of bars and restaurants in the matagorda arcade but we travelled out alot so only had a few beers at lunchtime, and a burger or something , so not sure what the restaurants are like, but all in all we enjoyed our stay at las gaviotas bungalows and matagorda resort.i would definetely go back here ps: there are a few bad reviews about block 8,they are standard apartments and seem to be more for the all enclusive so you get what you pay for i quess !! comments like too far to walk to the restaurant?? please get a life,or pay a bit extra, simple really .."

Good area but they try to charge you more when you arrive.
"I've stayed here on a number of occasions and it suits my needs. Last year I ended up paying more than 50% above what I had booked them for. They told me there was no standard room available and I had to take a superior room which was a lot more expensive. I felt conned. As it turns out they had done the very same to several people that I met. I have heard the same story from other people who have stayed there this year. BEWARE."

Do not go there! awful!
"My husband and I stayed here from the 16th to the 24th of April. From the first night onwards it was dreadful! We did book a superior Bungalo which costs extra but it was not worth it. Over the 8 days our towels were changed once. The bungalo was un-humain and un-livable. To start it was just filthy and made me very uncomfortable to stay in. On the second day my husbands runners were stolen from right outside our door, it is not a safe enviroment for any person or family to stay. Eletrical equiptment like the kettle or tv was very loosley done and was very dangerous. The Food was horrible and the staff were also unbelievably rude. On one occasion we actually walked to the reception and had to ask for clean towels but still did not recieve them, we also asked for the tv to be fixed and they claimed we had to pay money just to watch the tv. The entire holiday was FALSELY ADVERTISED!. On the day of our departure we had to beg for a curtousy shower as our flight was late in the evening and we had to be out of the venue by 12. They sent us walking for over 10 minutes to block 8. When we got there for the shower, it was no surprise to see that there was no towels! We phoned and begged again for towels but the rude receptionists said 'no towels and that is it'. We paid extra money for an upgrade to get the full experience of an enjoyable holiday but if anything we were down-graded. -No Tv -No Towels -No Nice Food -No Hot Water -No Bar Pool Open -No Heated Pool -Begged for sheets to changed which was done once -The cleaners did not know how to clean -Staff were VERY rude This holiday was no doubt a waste of our money and hugely falsely advertised. The bungalo's were a big disappointment. This is usual destination to go to on holidays and we know the area very very well. This is definitly a place we will NEVER be staying in again! I have never before even thought about writting a review for any hotel or in this case Bungalo's before unless it was for a very good stay and a very good holiday. Las Gaviotas NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN. No body should even consider going here and I strongly recommend for no body to waste their money nor there time in even looking at the pictures or the prices. We will definitely not be going back here. Very very bad resort!!"

No Good If All Inclusive
"Me and my 3 children have just returned from a weeks holiday,we were put into block 8 which is a 10min walk from the restaurant which is down hill going but unfortunatly not coming back! too far in my opinion... The pool for this block would have been quite close had we of had access from the back of the apartment, unfortunatly the door had been broke and therefore had a padlock on the inside so had to walk around the road so more walking! small pool bar but this did close at 6.30pm and the other was in block 3 where the restaurant was, and this closed at 10.30 anyway and no entertainment at all.. Ended up buying drinks for in the apartment as too far to go and collect.. The room... very well equiped if you were self catering, did not get much sleep as the beds were so uncomfortable even my children struggled with this and they could sleep on the top of a volcano sometimes..lol We did not get bedding changed at all and with no aircon this would have been nice although the rep did tell us that as long as you went to reception after the manager had left the staff would let you have extra towels etc. The beach was about 10 mins away and we did walk down to peurto del carmen which took an hour just to reach the edge taxi back was only 3.5 euros wished we'd had one going! Please dont think i'm one who winges over the slightest thing because im not the place itself was nice and we were told that for extra euros we would have been able to get nearer the facilities..just wish we'd been offered this at the travel agents... The Restaurant..we enjoyed all meals although little bland in choice but clean and food was lovely...over all we loved Lanzarote weather was fab just didnt think the apartments were suitable for all inclusive to have gone self catering would have been easier although the shop was near the restaurant so again a trek with the shopping!"

not a good all inclusive
"family of 5 went (children 2 and 6)stayed in block 8 which was far too far away from the restaurant/ canteen, can only describe it as this as simply that is all it was, was all inclusive but to our horror discovered that there was no entertainment whatsoever for the children (or ourselves for that matter), the food quality and variaty was appalling, all there seemed to be was fish or steak, it lacked variety and quality and was extremely lazily presented, got the impression we were the dirty washing as the all inclusive guests, someone has already made reference to only being entitled to cheese toasties and chips from the block 8 pool bar if all inclusive the lack of entertainment or anything remotely resembling a bar/chill out area to enjoy what we had paid for was exasperated by the 10:30 last drink which in effect sent us out to pay for drinks in the nearby complex where there was a live entertainer etc as the early closure time limited the option to go out for an hour or 2 before coming back and enjoying a few drinks in the 'canteen' to conclude this complex has tuned in to the all inclusive but in my opinion does not think past its own nose and in effect it is a money making racket, pure and simple, i mean how can you go somewhere all inclusive for 10 days and have no entertainment whatsoever the food was that poor we ate out a couple of nights, in Alcudia last year i spent 35 euros outside the complex, here i spent over 300: sums it up really !! the area is great and self catering would be attractive though not at this 'canteen'"

"went to these bungalows for eleven nights over christmas and new year with my family.after reading some reviews we were a bit apprehensive.some people must be born to moan!the bungalows were clean, the food was excellent and plenty of it.we were in block 8 a five minute stroll from the restraunt,we had a heated pool with a snack bar serving toasties and drinks if you dident want to get off your sun bed for lunch.we were all inclusive and i would recomend this to anyone.the range of food was excellent, from king prawns mussels fish lamb pork, steaks paella,to pasta fresh veg potatoes, enough to suit anyone. my grand children enjoyed everything.the staff could not do enough for you,and were curtious and polite.the only reason i did not give a 10,is that it would have been nice to have had a bit of entertainment some nights.thanks to all for a great holiday"

A very relaxing break.
"I was more than anxious proir to our stay at these bungalows after reading the reviews from several other people. I spent several sleepless nights before we departed worrying about what our accomodation would be like. On arrival we were greeted at reception and told that we were in Block 8! My heart sank as I had read several 'horror stories' about this accomodation. To his credit the receptionist did offer to move us to a block closer to the main complex area when he realised we were all inclusive. My husband being more laid back than me suggested that we see what the accomodation was like before junping to conclusions. On entering the bungalow we were VERY plesantly surpised. THe rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped. Nothing like the horror pictures described in other reviews! Yes there is a small (5 minute) walk from block 8 to the main restaurant but nothing major, obviously some people are too lazy to walk a short distance! We actually found block 8 to be quiet and more private than some of the other blocks. The staff at Las Gaviotas were all very friendly and helpful. The food was fine, admitedly it was not always piping hot but even myself, a self confessed fussy eater did not starve. We would definately stay at these bungalows again in the future. They provided an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Definately go for a walk along the perimiter fence of the airport and watch the planes fly overhead and also enjoy the sandy beaches and crystal waters. Couple aged 38"
