"Just back from a weeks holiday at the Sands Resort. Having read all the crap reviews that have been left before i went my holiday i was somewhat wishing i hadnt picked to go there...... BUT ALAS when i actually arrived at the hotel it was absolutely stunning, very clean indeed and certainly didnt deserve the bad feedback i had previously read. The apartments were lovely. I had booked a junior suite and it was only for 2. But could easily sleep 5. It had everything you would need. The entertainment was fantastic. I honestly couldnt fault them. All i can say is i would recommend this resort to anyone, they cater well for wheelchair access too."

"We had two weeks sands beach april 2009,we like others read reviews and took a chance,we experienced rusty bath, cockroaches, old tatty bed linen, maid service not good as always incorrect towels left,if cooker used all electrics would fail,at one stage we were asked to check fuse box.We did change appartments which seemed to happen alot to other holiday makers while we were there.the second appartment was a little better on second floor but we did notice no smoke detectors in any of these appatments plus fuse boxes had no protective covers on them as a water fire extinguisher was blocking it,also a chair had been put under fuse box which would have enabled toddlers to touch fuse box.If in the advent of a fire there would have been no way out on second floor. We did have a takeaway one evening this was very poor and went in the bin.It does seem there is a two tier accommodation as from what I have learnt it used to be 5* Time share some people still own appartments and if you book with owners you will have good appartments as shown on internet but others booking with agent will most likely have the same experience as ours! Please also read trip advisor we also put our experince on there,we did have a refund of £400 from tour operator and was told they would look into the fact no smoke detectors. Also recepion very slow due to the fact that if the telephone rings they will answer this even if checking you in be prepared to have a long wait,as phone rings alot usually with complaints!"

Nice and pleasant but not a 4*
"I have just returned from a weeks holiday at Sands beach resort Costa Teguise. After staying with 3 teenagers at the Los zocos in sept 2009 (which i highly rated by the way) me and my hubby decided to go slightly upmarket and go for a 4* seeing as it was only the 2 of us, although the apartments are very nice, they are very tired and could do with a lick of paint and new curtains and bed blankets, other than that the layout and furniture was very good, we were unfortunate enough to have a view of a brick wall and not a pool view, although we were still within close distance of the pool and this did not ruin my stay here. i did not like the bathroom how the floor was done as i feel it held all the dirt, so i always wore flipflops when going in there. The outside of the apartments were spotless, and looks immaculate. How the site is set up is ideal, as all apartments surround their own pool, so there are plenty of sunbeds and room for everyone, however if you were all inclusive you had to make sure you were over in the far pool by the Mai Tai to benefit from the drinks and snacks etc, and we were in Palmara which was furthest from this area so i was glad i had only gone bed and breakfast, we had been all incl in Sept so we had decided to try the restaurants in the town, the steakhouse La pardella is a must, there food was amazing, as was the English Chippy i have never tasted fish like it. The Sands beach has a spa and gym, although you pay for a 4* hotel use of these still incurs an extra cost, i did sample a hot stone massage but there was no way i was using the gym, i am on holiday!!!!! The staff were pleasant but did not go the extra mile as did the staff at Los Zocos. All in All although i had a very pleasant stay, oh and the weather again was fantastic, i have topped up my tan perfectly i much preferred los zocos, i shall return to Lanzarote but i shall sample another part of the island i think next,as they say variety is the spice of life. But if you have not been to Costa Teguise it is well worth a visit, and i recommend Los Zocos."

what a great holiday
"Great place to stay, location great, about 10mins walk to main area of costa teguise. These appartments are great, containing everything you could need for a great holiday.Animation team were fantastic with kids, me & my hubby were on our own both of us being in our early 50's but we still like a good time, we will definetely be booking to go back and will be taking our 2 grandsons aged 9 & 5 yrs next time. Plenty of places to eat in costa teguise never had a bad meal, steak at El Patio's was lovely, and all the restaurants were very reasonable in price. We hired a car for 2 days and managed to most of the excursions, including timanfaya the national park area of volcanic mountains which was amazing, wewll worth the 8 euro admission, you could drive to the car park and then transfer onto a coach which drives you all around the park leaving you free to take as many pics as you want. The cactus garden in Guatiza is also a must see, again 8 euro to get in but well worth it, also another must see is Jameos Del Agua a volcanic tube formed during the eruptions of Monte Corona in prehistoric times which holds a natural underwater lake containing blind albino crabs, and also a superb white swimming pool designed by Cesar Manrique, also an underground theatre which seats 1000 people. A lovely island which we will be visiting again. The only warning we have for you is be aware of Indian electrical shopkeepers in playa blanca, they rip you off good style take your money off you first before giving you the goods and then refusing to give you it back even if they do not have what you want, they have a sign up in the shop saying no refunds of money, we checked the law and they use an old spanish law which they will not rebuke, we were ripped off in a shop selling video cameras, beware, much cheaper at home."

"We booked this resort for 12 people consisting of a mixture of adults and teenagers and one 9 yr old, we stayed here for 1 week in 3 apartments on Amarilla. The resort is superb, clean and the hotel staff are friendly and hardworking. This place was let down by two lots of individuals out to ruin this holiday for everyone that laughed and enjoyed thereselves. These two couples that stayed in apt 5 and 39 didnt nothing but moan moan and more moaning they were misers and constantly tried to upset very happy enjoyable youngsters but they didnt succeed. They insisted on quiet at all times no making any noise when going in the swimming pool no jumping no diving and the demands was endless. You might aswell called this a 4* graveyard. If you have children over 1 yrs old and is likely to be happy dont go you wont like it. We wished we stayed on the council estate on the resort or on Mai-Tai villas they had fun and music. They resort as a whole was lovely and we had excellent weather, shame that these individuals tried to spoil it, you have been warned."

"We have just come back from the sands beach resort after a 1 week stay, I cannot say enough how much me and my family enjoyed it,
we got upgraded to a beach front apartment which was great, maybe a lick of paint would be needed but that was very minor,
there were five of us 1 five year old a 11 year old and a 15 year old and they all thought it was excellent,
the animation team were brilliant, whatever they're getting payed it's not enough, the staff couldnt do enough for us, the entertainment on a night was great we all enjoyed it.
we'll be coming back next year for two weeks definatly
all in all
10 out of 10

Great holiday but accomodation dissapointing
"The Sands Beach Villas are in desparate need of renovation the decor and furnishings are shabby. We (family of 4 - children aged 10 and 7)had a 2 bedroom beach front appartment for one week. Arrived on Thursday, cleaners didn't come again until Monday. Had to request clean towels and were left with insufficeint in number and those that we had were thread bare, bedding had holes in it. The appartment was plagued with cockroaches.
The music from the Mai Tai bar was so loud that you could here it inside of the apartment with the doors shut. No opportunity to sit quietly on the terrace.
The staff in the Hacienda Restaurant were fantastic and we all really enjoyed the food. Lots of freshly cooked options to suit everyone.
The animation team and the evening entertainment was also supurb!"

"We stayed here for one week with 2 young children (5 & 1) in a one bedroomed villa on Montana Plaza. Thought the villa was well equiped and comfortable although pull down bed seemed a little past it's best. The Hacienda Buffet Restaurant is not recommended as very expensive for poor quality food. Much better to walk up to Playa Las Cacharas (20 mins slow walk max) for better food and prices. Would recommend Waterfront Bar if looking for excellent British food at good price. Alternitivley try the local restaurants further down (5 mins from resort) for local cuisines.
Was very clean but be careful with young children on wet floors - can be very slippy. Pools cold but great fun and always sunbeds available and can be seen from almost all villas.
Excellent relaxing holiday, will definately return."

Family with 3 young children
"My husband and I, together with our 3 young children (aged 1,3,5)stayed here for 2 weeks (end June/beg July 2008). We stayed in a beach front villa with 1 bedroom which was adequate though slightly scruffy. We found the food at the restaurant pretty good and the buffet was ideal with small children. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Mini club and mini disco were very good, our kids still enjoy the video we made at the mini disco some 4 months later. Play ground was scruffy but adequate. Swimming pools were fine but water was very cold. Private lagune was great, ideal for small children. Overall we enjoyed our holiday but would rate this hotel as a good 3 star resort and not a 4 star resort as the brochures indicate. "

Stayed here July 08 for 1 week. 1 adult...
"Stayed here July 08 for 1 week. 1 adult & 2 boys, 12 & 8 years.Found the accom. excellent, spacious, v. clean. The kitchen was very well equipped & dishwasher was v. handy. We had a 1 bedroom apt , there was loads of storage, the pull down double bed was a great hit & very comfy. The pools were great & I could sit on the patio & watch the boys in the pool.
We just had pizza from the restaurant 1 night which wasn't very nice.Had breakfast & lunch a few times at the pool bar, which was good. Can recomend the Portobello restaurant & The Slow Boat Chinese close to the hotel.
Found the staff at the hotel to be very polite & helpful,a few minor issues were solved by contacting reception. The maids came in every day except Tursday & there were plenty of towels. The maseuesse at the hotel was excellent, she did massages for the children & went to a lot of trouble to make these special for them. The youngest boy took part in a kids club production of mini-grease which he loved. The kids club workers were very energetic & always friendly to the children when they met them around the complex. The supermarket was well stocked and clean, fresh bread, crossaints etc. baked instore. The prices were a little dearer but very convenient!
We went on 2 tours , to the submarine safari-this was fascinating & the children loved it.We also took a short tour to Timanfaya, & this was really enjoyable, got 2 go on the camels â¬10 per camel, we booked these tours through Last Minute tours & the guide was excellent. Taxis were very plentiful & we met several very helpful ones.We went shopping in Playa Honda & found things a lot cheaper than the resort, also several toy shops here-very important!!!
The complex was very quiet & there was a security guard walking around at night.
The entertainment in the evening was bingo, a different show everynight e.g.Snake Show, Birdshow , Comedy Show,Dancers ,Cabaret followed by Karoke. The boys loved the snakes & also the comedy shows(mostly slapstick type visual comedy) .There was a games room, tennis court, internet suite,& pay-to-play playstations available & the apartment TV showed constantly changing films & english satellite channels.
Overall this accommodation was excellent, with plenty to do for children. We hope to come back next year for 2 weeks."
