Cockroach motel

Awful

"Within 10 minutes of arriving we were back at reception requesting another apartment, because the smell of urine was horrendous, the reception staff were very helpful, gave us another apartment without any problems - this wasn't much better, still smelt, but at least it wasn't of pee! The funiture was tatty, the apartment was carpeted throughout but was smelly and grotty. The maid service was o.k. but they failed to change our towels during our stay and the bed linen was only changed on one occassion. On day 2 we had a visit from a huge cock roach, it ran down the wall in the kitchen, it had come out from the cooker hood, discovered a further 15 in there and needed to have the apartment fumigated. While sitting in the club we were amazed to see the cock roaches running around peoples feet and across the dance floor. Our son had an even closer encounter when one ran up his leg. We didn't appreciate finding 2 inch cock roaches in the bedrooms either, our family would never return there not even if they paid us. The worst holiday experience ever!!!!"

"just got back, after reading the latest reveiws whilst we were there, i feel they are very harsh. we went with our four kids [15,13,9,4], were in block 3. it was very tidy as was the whole complex. every morning you could look out and see numerous staff [very friendly and helpful i hasten to add] cleaning and tidying the complex ready for another day. we went for a relaxing holiday, and that is what we got, no pressure to join in if we didnt wish, but always asked if we would like to. the food was a bit repetitive, but how are they ment to cater to everyones tastes, if you dont like it you can always go to the numerous restruants very close by. we done the island hopping tour, it was very good but take plenty of bags for those with weaker stomachs as it was a bit choppy on the way back [one and a half hours as you stop to see the fish].
overall a good time had by us all, take no notice of the previous "victor meldrews" you are on holiday after all.
finally you must visit the aqaupark [3euros by taxi, you think ours at home have "attitude" try them, I DARE YOU] by the way mind the breeze, its like a "fan-oven", cooks you quick if you know what i mean "ARRY" hope you have a great time, as we did"

Awful - simply awful

"We went to Los Zocos with an open mind based on other reviews and hoped we would have one of the better experiences, but this was not to be. Despite e-mailing a month before departure requesting block 3 we were put into block 2 which was simply awful, dark, dirty, smelly, grotty, grimy. Asked to move on Friday morning but there was nothing availble until Monday so we had to endure 4 nights in an apartment that felt as if it was crawling.

Moved on Monday and there is literally no comparison between the two apartments. Block 3 is 100% better even if there was still a smell.

Kids Club - forget it - none of the activities seem to take place and are replaced by something else. Farewell bash on Wednesday was a perfect opportunity for my husband and I to let the kids go here and us to go out for dinner. Another "non event", replaced with a mini disco (unsupervised!!!!). Kids club reps were not a bit nice.

Glad I wasn't "all inclusive" - food looked and smelled awful.

Best part the Soccer School - our boys went three days and only for this they would have had no proper holiday.

Entertainment - "BUTLINS"

This complex has potential even someone could see it.

Will go back - NEVER!!!!"

"booked 2 weeks all inclusive - came home after 1st week!. Food disgusting, complex filthy, room ok but managed to get into block 3 - blocks 1 & 2 cockroach infested. Pool and grounds not cleaned once when we were there, rubbish flying around. If you leave your door open or towels on balcony they will be sprayed with cat pee within the hour! Building work commenced 1st June - we knew nothing about this not did other guests. Food hall is being extended and this is happening right next to the pool area. The resort is quiet and dropping to bits, loads of derelict shops. Ate out 5 nights out of 7 as food in complex so bad - there are some brilliant restaraunts there thank god. Andy the First Choice Rep deserves a medal. Every day there were people lining up to complain to him and he did his best to help! Have been to Lanzarote 4 times and would never go back after this one. Will let you know if First Choice offer any compensation for the dreadful week!"

"Went to Los Zocos end of April, thumbs up to the animation team, without their commitment there would have been no entertainment at night. There was a wide choice of food but it was always cold.

Had a good time though, thanks to the A-team"

"Just got back from Los Zocos, excellent holiday, no complaints at all. Rooms were great, food was excellent weather great {for time of year} Away without any kids, brilliant complex, great if you have kids lots to do for them. Maid service was first class and deserves a mention, Helen!!! Rooms overlooking pool at new block, lovely and quiet if you haven"t got the kids. The boulevard bar is a must on a night nice and quiet and relaxing, service brillant, friendly staff who wait on you at your table. Lively entertainment round about complex and out and about especially Cactus Jacks a must see on a tuesday night! Dont miss the catamaran trip excellent day out, sunday market is just for tourists not locals, still good day out. Fantastic holiday would definately recommend for adults and a family holiday. A holiday is what you make of it."

"just got back from los zocos. we are a family of four our two sons are aged 9 and 12 and we had a brilliant fortnight at los zocos. we went self catering but after one week we decided to take p the offer of all inclusive for one week and that worked out great we had the best of both worlds-sampling the wonderful restarants ....The cutty sark, Blue Dolphin,Cactus Jacks and shui ln kok are all worth a visit. we hired a car for a day and toured the island which was stunning and cheaper than going on the oganised week. The second week was excellant. We could not fault the hotel food even my picky 9 year old found plenty he liked including sunday dinner. The entertainment for both children and adults was next to perfect. If you have football mad children i would recomend the soccer school put on by first choice, you have to pay more but it is worth it. We had one week when the children had gone back to school in the uk so the hotel was not busy but the two yong lads that ran the football sessions, Gee and Paul still put on a one to one class for my boys which was one of the highlights of there holidays. My boys both enjoyed the entertainment package put on by the hotel including taking parts in the evening musicals. All in all we a a holiday we will not forget."

"Not so good!!!!”
2 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 week ago
Arrived in Los zocos on 13th October and stayed for 2 weeks, have stayed here twice before in recent years and it's been good. This time, however, things were not so good!!! Yes the rooms have been refurbished and the air con is a good addition. The food however, is much much worse than on previous trips, most of the people we spoke to were moaning about it and a lot were eating out.
Also on our 4th night there my 19-year-old daughter and her boyfriend awoke to find they were covered in bites which we assumed were mosquitos. The next night, however they woke at 4 in the morning itching like mad so they both got up for a little bit , when they returned to get back in bed when they pulled back the duvet they were greeted by loads of tiny insects running around on the bed sheets BED BUGS!!!!
They caught on in a glass and went straight to reception. They were told they'd have to move rooms immediately. They got their stuff together along with my other daughter and moved to the other side of the complex. This completely ruined our holiday as we are a family of 9 and had adjoining rooms so we were all together. Next morning my daughter and her boyfriend and I went to see the Thompson rep who to be fair was helpful and told them she would sort it and advised them to visit the local doctors ASAP.. They were prescribed antibiotics by him as they had too many bites to treat with cream. It cost 180 euros for the appointment and neither of them was allowed any more alcohol for the duration of the holiday which was very annoying. Thompsons did refund the doctors, fees as a good will gesture but when we took the matter up with the hotel it was a different matter, first it took. About 3 days for anyone to bother seeing us and when they did they gave a half-baked apology , they offered my daughter and her boyfriend the doctors fee back and 5 days all inclusive for free as long as they signed the agreement they had printed out which basically said if they take the offer they can not take the issue any further when they get home. So to summarize it was 180 euro back and 5 days free. , who in their right mind would want to pay flights etc for a 5 day stay in somewhere where they had caught bed bugs!!!!!!! So we never signed the form and are now in the process of taking the matter up at home. The cheek of it!!!! They wouldn't give them the doctors fee back unless they signed the form!! The assistant manager didn't seem bothered at all that the holiday had cost me over £6000 and this lot had completely ruined it, I know they probably couldn't care less if you come back or not but I felt we deserved better seeing as that I have spent over £15000 on holidays there in e last 4 years.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend Los zocos to my worst enemy now the only good thing about it is the animation team.

Fab early winter break

"Just returned from an fab break at the Los Zocos. We stayed as a 50ish couple and it was a perfect mix of age groups.
The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped but a bit dated. A/C would be an advantage although the bed room has the ceiling fan.
WiFi very slow and didn't support the use of what's app. The reception has computers with a printer so printing our return boarding pass was straight forward and cost 1 euros'.
All staff very helpful and friendly.
We stayed B&B and the food at breakfast was good quality and plentiful. A mix of cooked and continental
The pool area was clean with plenty of sun beds although the pool was cold.
The beaches are a 5 -- 10 minutes walk away, they felt safe with lifeguards patrolling them. If you enjoy snorkeling you wont be disappointed with the amount and types of fish on view.
There plenty of bars and restaurants locally to suit all budgets and taste.
Would recommend low cost tours which are located in the square opposite the resort if you fancy going out on any excursions. The South Tour and catamaran to La Graciosa were both excellent .
We would defiantly go back to Los Zocos"
